We love the flexibility of doing our own itineraries during our travels instead of joining tour groups. For Kyoto, however, I took a risk and hired a private guide with a car to make the most of our one full day in that beautiful city. It was a very smart decision that was worth the money! We were able to see some major attractions which would have been impossible without a car (and with a kid!). We were also treated to historical and cultural background stories of each site, which we would have... view more
Kazue was so gracious and kind. We took a day trip together from Shinjuku to Kamakura. Communication prior was great. We connected on a messaging app which made discussing the trip and our meeting place much easier. She kindly met me at the train station closest to me, and she guided me through the temples and shrines of Kamakura. We shared great conversation together. She was very attentive to my needs on the tour, and she wanted to make sure that I was seeing all the historical landmarks I wan... view more

Can't say enough good things about this guy. We spent two days together traveling around Tokyo. Meeting up with him was easy as Dai met me at the train station closest to where I was staying. Communication prior to the tour was good too. We explored all the Tokyo hot spots and enjoyed lots of good food. Dai is also a great conversationalist as he has had many world travel experiences. Dai, thanks for helping me have a great trip! view more
Kimmy is an excellent and highly professional guide. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and patience are fantastic - just like her English. I visited Tokyo with my two children and Kimmy couldn't have been kinder or more insightful over the two sessions we had in her company. We saw so many different aspects of Tokyo and she was very mindful of the whole group, shaping the tour to match our pace and all the differing interests we had. Thank you Kimmy. It was such a pleasure to meet you. view more
We were traveling from Tokyo to Osaka and spent the day with Aki who showed us around the Hakone region. Our trip included, Hakone Checkpoint, Lake Ashinoko (Sightseeing Cruise), Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani and Odawara Castle. We got see a cloud-covered view of Mount Fuji and sample kuro-tomago. But the real highlight was an amazing experience with a puzzle box ‘master’ who demonstrated how he hand made the intricate and fascinating puzzle boxes. This was a priority destination for our family an... view more

Mayumi, is a great guide. She took us to everything that we wanted to see in Tokyo and more. Her schedule for the day could not have been better. There was no way that we could have seen Tokyo without her service. We would use her service again if we return to Tokyo. view more

We have Hiroshi as our guide for our day tour in Kyoto. Our first impression of him was that he was quiet and not so approachable. But soon after we reached our first destination, he started to crack jokes and gave us quizzes to help us learn about the things we saw and place we visited. It was creative and interactive. He carried a camera with him and took pictures of us at the best spots. He was also flexible and allowed us to change our places to visit very last minute. We visited Gion inste... view more
We had Kenji for our day tour in Osaka on 12 April 2017. Despite a rainy day, we enjoyed ourselves with Kenji's planned itinerary and also his services. He was patient with our questions and shared with us the history of the Osaka Castle and the Sho-guns - making the Castle visit interesting. We liked the Cherry blossom mint - there are so many types of cherry blossoms. Because of the rain, it was difficult to take picture as it was too cold and wet. Also, we had to keep moving so that the place... view more
