Hello everyone, welcome to Japan!
I am Mari, a Japanese friendly woman- English fluent speaker - enjoying life to discover hidden gems in KYOTO and recently married to my French husband.
As you see on my profile picture, I am not only a guide but also a calligraphy artist.
+++As a guide+++, I have conducted many foreign tourists to the major sightseeing spots such as the UNESCO World Heritage temples & castles, either my favorite places & hidden gems where you can see the local craftsmen.
My tours are "tailor-made" , I will create my itinerary based on your ideas and your interests to make your visit memorable.
Thanks to my French husband, who is also guide, I learned a lot about the points foreign tourists could wonder in our culture. Personally, I like to show everything, especially to focus on small details and explain what you may not find in guide books.
I can also help you to book good restaurants, special shows or activities, tea ceremony, etc... if you prefer.
I can also guide you in Himeji, Hiroshima or other south districts, if you pay my transportation fee.
+++As a calligraphy teacher+++, I consider that calligraphy is not about writing with the complex Japanese "kanji" alphabet. Calligraphy is a kind of art which enables you to express your thought and relax your mood through your brush & writing style.
Let's experience with me a way of meditation, focusing on your brush to make a nice looking stroke, focusing on the sound the brush and focusing on the nice smell of the ink that helps your body and your mind to relax.
I am looking forward to discovering Japanese culture with you. :)

Mari was a super guide with excellent English who had a very rounded knowledge on all the sites we saw and who gave insightful explanations to all of our question. The plan presented to us for the day was thorough and included all of our resqests. Marie was a pleasure to be with and made our day a wonderful experience, we can only highly recommend her. Thank you again Mari. Kim and Ben.
Thank you Kim and Ben for having me. You were very kind and respectful to me and local Japanese. It was very pleasant to re-discover the good points of Japanese culture with you, as well as talking randomly about social issues, history and customs. Your smile was contagious and made everyone around happy. I would never forget what we experienced in Nara. I would be a pleasure to see you again in the future. Thank you so much again for the great day! Mari
Good experience with Mari, the tour was planned well. Just sometimes the communication was a little bit hard. All in all a good time
Thank you for your comment, Robert. I am happy to know you had a good time in Kyoto. Hope you have safely gone back to Germany. I am looking forward to seeing you in the future!
Mari was very caring and friendly. She taught me where to get the one day passes. We saw the tourist areas and non tourist areas. My kids and I did food samples. She was great. My kids and I loved her energy and vibe about her.
Thank you for joing my tour. You and your kids are both very respectful to me and the Japanese manners. I was happy to guide you all in Osaka. I hope we will see you again in the future when your baby grows up and becomes interested in Japanese anime. :)
Our party of four met Mari for a personal tour. While Mari was good at ensuring that we saw the very best of the Cherry Blossoms, we were disappointed with her overall lack of knowledge for our questions about Japanese culture and what we were viewing.
