★Enjoy not only Guided tour but also Professional photo shoot in Kyoto!★
"Hi, my name is Koichi.
I am a licensed tour guide specializing in Kyoto. I can take memorable picture of you by using my own authentic camera and lens. Photo shoot experience is included in guide fee.
I have a great love for Kyoto City, from its major tourist attractions to some of its lesser known, tranquil and peaceful sites. I would be glad to conduct the tour according to your interests and share with you my knowledge of the city's rich history as well as its cultural and seasonal events.
Since both my high school and university days were located in Kyoto, I know not only all the city’s shrines and temples but also great local restaurants that serve traditional Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price. So, for example, if you are interested in a traditional Izakaya experience, please let me know, I know the perfect place and I will be glad to escort you there after the tour.
As an added bonus, I am an experienced, award winning photographer and I would be happy to take photos of you during the tour with my DSLR camera and then email them to you after the tour.
Additionally, I love motorcycle touring as my hobby and I enjoy taking pictures of Kyoto’s beautiful landscape. Therefore, talking about and showing off Kyoto’s scenery with my guests is one of my pleasures as well as explaining the traditional Kyoto culture.
My native city of Otsu is famous for Lake Biwa which is located just 10 minutes train ride from Kyoto station. It is not only an ideal location for the easy access to the ancient capital city but also for having an amazing visitor’s viewing location.
Therefore, whether you are wishing to explore Kyoto’s traditional heritage, sample the fantastic food that Kyoto offers or take a trip off the beaten path, I am the guide for you!

Koichi was the guide for my 12 year old son and I for one day in Kyoto (September 2019). Koichi met us at the hotel on time and our day was planned nicely by Koichi to correspond to the specific time we had alloted (not a lot of "down time" and we also were by no means "rushed"). It was a warm day and Koichi worked hard throughout the day to make our day informative, as relaxed as it could be with the temparature, and fun. Koichi is extremely knowledgeable about the history and background of Japan religions, including Buddhism and Shinto and thus was able to articulate some of the key differences in the temples/shrines we visited and how it correlates to history. His knowledge and experience was also helpful in pointing out some of the specific architectual nuances and religious symb... read more
Choosing Koichi as guide is definitely a choice I do not regret. He was a very professional guide, delivering all kinds of interesting facts about the visited places and knew good viewing places to experience the shrines and temples in Kyoto in all their glory. And outside of the visits, like during travel or lunch, Koichi is also very easy to talk with. I enjoyed talking to him about various subjects. Having a guide you can feel comfortable while talking with him, made the whole trip very relaxing and pleasent. He is also a great photographer. By taking beautiful pictures, you will always have great memories of that day and all those beautiful shrines and temples. So in short, with Koichi you get a professional, yet very relaxing guide, that really enjoys showing you a part of Kyoto and ... read more
Koichi was a wonderful guide. He took my family, with people aged 7 to 85, on a great tour of the city. He offered to start our day earlier than our scheduled time, which was a great suggestion to avoid the rush at Fushimi Inari. Koichi was kind and informative. The photo shoot was also a nice bonus! I would recommend him as a guide for a visit to Kyoto.
We had only 1 day in Kyoto so we did not expect to see much around Kyoto. But thanks to Koichi, we managed to cover so much more than we expected! We were even brought to a hidden bamboo forest behind Fushimi Inari Shrine ( it's not exactly Arashiyama, but all that mattered was that there was no crowd at all and we were able to take plenty of beautiful photos!). Koichi is very helpful in recommending good spots to take beautiful pictures around Kyoto, and he is also very clearly knowledgeable and passionate about his home city. We will definitely recommend our friends to Koichi, and who knows? Maybe we'll meet again when we return to Kyoto in the near future! Your friends, Haquel and Hanna
We are so grateful to have met Koichi. He’s friendly, knowledgeable and thoughtful. I didn’t think we’d see so much in one day, yet we did and the pace was just right. During our visit, we were lucky to see the free illumination and geisha show at the Yasake Shrine. It wasn’t included in the itinerary but Koichi kindly let us tag along with him as he took beautiful pictures. We also enjoyed eating at traditional japanese restaurants. He also taught us how to use subway and bus. Koichi is not only a perfect guide, he is also a great photographer. Thank you for everything, Koichi! We hope to see you again next time we’re in Kyoto.
