Ryuta was a great person to have with us on our first day in Tokyo. We felt we needed someone to orientate us to the set up of the city, it’s scale, the public transport, and generally how to get the most from our stay. Thanks to Ryuta, we saw not only the usual areas talked about in the guide books, but also parts we would never have thought about. Suggestions like going to the bay area were new to us, but that ended up being my wife’s favourite part of the city. Without him, we would have missed a lot of what there was to see. Thank you for giving us the start we needed, and the ability to plan the rest of our trip better than we could have hoped.
Tokyo is a big city made up of dozens of neighbourhoods and each one a little different from the others. Some have huge skyscrapers, while others have structures on a more human scale. And then there are the green spaces that bring nature into the inner metropolis. This is the Tokyo that Ryuta Araki showed us, along with magnificent museums both big and small, temples with wafting incense, and the wonderful cuisine that has made Tokyo a gastronomic delight. Ryuta took into consideration our interests and the tours were more like he was showing his city to long lost friends. His knowledge of the history of the city and Japanese culture was above and beyond what you'd expect from a group tour. The highlight of the trip was meeting his wife Keiko at their home and being offered a delicious sashimi lunch. We also got to experience the Tokyo subway system and the ease to which it can get you around the city. We would highly recommend Ryuta as an English speaking guide to anyone who wants to see and experience Tokyo. Jim & Linda Harris Nanaimo, BC, Canada
We did the day tour to Iriomote with Ryuta and it was a blast! As for Iriomote and the sights: Iriomote truly is a very beautiful Island and doing half day Kayaking/half day snorkeling gives you the chance to at least get a glimpse of what it’s like. If you get the chance to go there, even if only for a day trip, do it! If you can stay there for a couple of nights – even better! Now for Ryuta, our guide: We started communicating via triplelights right after our booking. He was very patient and helpful with all the many questions regarding the actual schedule of our tour (we weren’t shure what we wanted to exactly, as the tours all seemed a bit alike but then different at the same time) and even offered advice on accomodation on Ishigaki, where we stayed. He was always extremly quick to repsond. As for the day of the tour itself, we met Ryuta at the agreed meeting point and took the ferry to Uehara port on Iriomote, where we joined a somewhat larger group consisting of us and a Japanese Family of Four. Ryuta knows the Tour guide from his longer stay on Iriomote and they seemed quite familiar. Ryuta acted as our translator and personal guide, streamlining the whole day so that we didn’t have to worry about anything. He explained everything in great detail and would answer all the questions we had. You can truly feel that he is very passionate about his work! He even brought spare sunscreen and towels for us, which came in very handy. After the tour, Ryuta took us for a walk in Downtown Ishigaki, where we had dinner together at a lovely place. Finally, he walked us to our car! If you ask yourself why you would need a guide within a guided tour, here’s why: If you don’t speak or understand Japanese, you will miss out a lot of things – which would be a pity, as Iriomote is very beautiful. Also, of course you can arrange the tours yourself, but just having someone taking care of everything so thoroughly makes a day trip very hassle free. So, to sum it up, Ryuta is a great guide and great person, whose services we strongly recommend!
Mr. Ryuta was the loveliest tour guide I could have imagined. He put together an ideal tour for us, based upon our interests and our specifications; and even found us a lovely place to eat for lunch when we got hungry. His English is excellent, he is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Tokyo, and he was just absolutely delightful to spend time with. We all agree (party of 3) that we can't recommend him more highly. One last thing: our 13 year old son was suffering from a rather extreme allergic reaction to something he encountered before we boarded the plane, and Mr. Ryuta was extremely generous and helpful with his time and advice. He took the time to locate the nearest hospital with English-speaking doctors and to write down the address and phone number-- as well as a way we could reach him quickly if we needed a translator in an emergency. Thankfully, we did not, but needless to say we greatly appreciated his offer to come to our aid if need be. He showed tremendous grace and kindness under pressure. Please know you are making a wonderful choice if you sign on for a tour with him!
I would like thank Mr Ryuta, for a wonderful tour of Kamakura...he is very knowledgeable and very patient which helps to make the tour a great experience. I would highly recommend Mr Ryuta to anybody interested in informative and fun tour in Japan.
