Fujiko was a wonderful guide. She loves S Sado Island and knows the best places to show you to get to know the island. It is lovely to talk to her. We had so much fun exploring the island with her!
Hi, Adrienne san Thank you very much for writing an encouraging review of the tour. I also had a wonderful time with you! It was a beautiful autumn day and I still remember that beautiful tree near the gold mine. You must be busy but I hope you will visit many other unknown places in Japan whenever possible. Take care and have fun! Fujiko
Fujiko planned the perfect day for us. As a resident of Sado Island, she knows it well and shared many interesting facts about it. We got to try taiko drumming, visited a historic village and went for a tub boat ride with a nice dog named Asti and his owner. We had an amazing seafood lunch, then visited a sake brewery. The local apples, pears and persimmon were so sweet and delicious and Fujiko knew the best places to get them. We even got to see some endangered Toki, thanks to Fujiko. Visiting Sado Island was the highlight of our vacation!
Hi, Laurie san Thank you very much for writing such a sweet review of the tour! It was only a 6-hour tour but we had a lot of fun together. It was great that each place gave you special memories. We sampled fruits in season and sake which included freshly brewed one before and after lunch so I think it was a "betsubara" or "second stomach" tour! I hope we can do another betsubara tour in the near future because Niigata is a special place for you. Thank you again from Hide san and me, Fujiko
We had a wonderful day in Sado with Fujiko. She was responsive starting the first message we exchanged and throughout the whole process. She helped us booked a local rental car in Sado, which we would not be able to do on our own from 5000 miles away. We noticed this local shop was the only one opened (and all the Japanese went to) when we arrived. She took care of all the rental car details/questions, and even took calls during the trip from the car company, which we without a local phone, really appreciate. The day in Sado was nice and smooth. She took us to local markets, rice fields, and temples that we only saw local people which made us feel 'privileged' to be part of. At the temple, she took us to the back and pointed out the very unique spot we would never discover even i... read more
Dear Jennifer san Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful review of Sado tour. I'm really happy that you enjoyed being in Sado and still remember the day and places we've visited. Sado is not well known to foreign tourists yet and don't have world famous sightseeing places like Kyoto but we have a lot to offer. I understand that your luggage was heavy with rice bags but it was worth bringing back. I will work hard to make my guests fulfilled and happy while they are in Sado or other places like Niigata. Yes, I hope to see you again and be your guide!! Until then, please take care and have fun. Arigato, Fujiko
Fujiko san spoke excellent English. Was very knowledgeable about Sado. Worked hard to give us a very good experience. A pleasure to be with!
Hi, Joanna san Thank you very much for writing the review so fast! I'm sure you've reached the lodging by now and feel accomplished! I'm thinking to do the same in the near future. Anyway please enjoy Japan to the fullest wherever you visit. Arigato! Fujiko
She got everything well-prepared and studied in order to bring me a wonderful journey. I can get my job done smoothly and it should be credit to Fujiko too. Thanks very much.
Dear Cloudy Thank you very much for writing me a wonderful review of the tour. It was such a great and rare experience for me! I'm sure this trip was a big success for you. Otsukaresama deshita and Aisareru hitoni narimasuyouni! Fujiko
I do not often take the services of a guide, but I see that our guide Fujiko, is filled with its function, that she likes to share the recesses of her island, that she loves this one, which makes alive his visit. In addition, she is lovely and full of empathy, it was a wonderful moment to spend this afternoon with her, because she was of a partience with us (there was a ils lady, my Mum and a friend) and she always had to precede the times when it was better to take a break or worry if everything went well for our crew! If I have one thing to recommend, visit this island with Fujiko and you will fall in love with this island, if it was not the case before your visit! Thanks again to you, Fujiko, for this moment of sharing, Miss Lo
Hi, Laurence Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful review of the Shukunegi tour! It was a lot of fun for me and I was motivated to re-study French seriously! I really enjoyed sharing a memorable time with your mom, her friend and you. Please visit in March next time to taste oysters!! Merci and arigato:) Fujiko
The day was fantastic! Fujiko understood exactly what kinds of things we would enjoy, and introduced us to many interesting people! She knows everyone and told us all about the history and about living on Sado today. We were looking for a specific bamboo basket, and Fujiko found a basket maker craftsman with a huge warehouse of baskets. We found exactly what we were looking for. Fujiko is fun to be with and her English vocabulary is impressive.
Hi, David san Thank you very much for writing such a rewarding review of the tour! I was happy to find the right person for you and you could get what you've wanted. I'm sure you've enjoyed the rest of the days in Sado. I saw the local TV show and enjoyed it very much! Please stay healthy and happy and enjoy visiting beautiful places you've not discovered yet in Japan. ありがとうございました。 Fujiko
We had a wonderful 2 days with Fujiko-san at Sado and completely fell in love with the island and its locals. Fujiko-san speaks perfect English and is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Sado and the locals (seems like she knew everyone on the island). Everything was arranged impeccably down to small favours of arranging for a bday dinner for 2 of our companions. Her food choices for the “greedy” Singaporean palate were completely on point, whether it was a lovely Japanese set lunch in an old Japanese Inn or a quaint pasta shop in the middle of old Shukunegi. Fancy a coffee and freshly baked pastries from a baker who was trained in New York? Fujiko-san knew them all! We were genuinely sad to send Fujiko san off on the last day... we can feel her love for the island ve... read more
Hi, Wei san Thank you very much for writing such a heartwarming review of the tour. I know I'm getting older and have become absent-minded, but guiding such a wonderful people like you makes me happy and motivated!! Yes, there are more to discover in Sado and I'm really looking forward to seeing you again with your best friends. また あいましょう!! Fujiko
Due to our schedule, we were only able to do a 5 hour tour in Sado Island. Fujiko was very accommodating to make sure we got to tour sites that we wanted to cover on such a short period of time. She advised & shared her ideas of the limitations of a 5 hour tour. Fujiko is very knowledgeable about Sado & it’s history. She speaks English well & has great communication skills. Also, she kept in contact w/ us prior to the trip & informed us of the weather & tide condition of the day before the tour. She was very pleasant & comfortable to be with throughout the tour process. We highly recommend Fujiko & would request her tour guide services again!!!
Dear Jean Thank you so much for writing a review of the tour so quick! Yes, it was a relatively tight tour because of the ferry schedule and also Sado is big and sightseeing spots are scattered on the island. Anyway the weather was nicer than expected and we could visit places on your bucket list! One of mine is visiting your country in a few years!! Please enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan. Mahalo:) Fujiko
My husband and I are from Hawaii and we hired Fujiko as our guide to visit the ancestral home of our family from Niigata. She far exceeded our expectations and due to her efforts, we actually met a direct relative. Fujiko has a fun and friendly personality and we were immediately impressed by her expertise as a guide. She is very proficient in English and is knowledgeable about Sado Island, Niigata and Japan. Thanks to Fujiko, we had “adventures” which we wouldn’t have experienced if we had been on a group tour. Much of what we saw and encountered was “off the beaten path”. She is sincere and helpful & her suggestions enriched our trip. If you’re thinking of visiting Sado Island or Niigata, we highly recommend contacting Fujiko and arranging your visit with her. We can’t wait to re... read more
Dear Kerry Thank you very very much for writing such a wonderful review of the tour. Is it about me? I guess we were guided by someone else to meet the direct relative. Life is full of unexpected and it makes our life special and happy. I was also happy that it was worthwhile for you to visit the place with little clue and reached the relative. Niigata is now your second home and I hope you to revisit there in the near future to discover the area more! Aloha! Fujiko
Fujiko made our Niigata tour, though only for a day, very memorable. She took the extra mile to grant our request to visit a nearby place which was not included in the itinerary. She has good command of the English language and communicating was a breeze. I highly recommend her if you need a guide in Niigata.
Dear Hermie Thank you very much for writing an encouraging review. I also had a wonderful time with you visiting beautiful places and tasting delicious seasonal fruits.! Please come one month late next time to fully enjoy autumn colors! I hope you will have another memorable tour when you visit Japan next time. Fujiko
A typhoon was approaching Niigata the day before we were meant to leave on the hydrofoil to Sado. Fujiko-san happened to be in Niigata and we meet and were comforted by her assessment. Took the ferry the next morning under calm conditions and spent a really nice day with Fujiko. Saw the Toki’s, ate great Soba and apples, picked persimmons and figs off a tree. Visited a famous sale brewery that makes sake for Nobu! Stayed at a recommended Minshuku for the night as the wind was picking up. A nice day overall! The next day, we visited old fishing village, a traditional bamboo craft artisan and a really amazing temple with giant thousand year old cedar trees. Had coffee and sandwiches at a really beautiful cafe overlooking by now a raging sea. Overnight at a really nice Minshuku with baths. ... read more
Dear Danny san Thank you very much for writing such a detailed tour review! Yes, we were lucky enough that we didn't have to change tour itineraries because of the typhoon. It's a lot of fun for me to bring my guests completely rural and off-the-beaten-track places and make them smile. There are uncountable places in Japan where you can find unique recipes or ingredients so please enjoy your culinary adventure! Fujiko
We a party of 6 really enjoyed our 2 days Sado and 1 day Murakami tours with Fujiko very much. She really adapted to our requests and even gave us surprises that enhanced our expectation. A very knowledgeable experienced guide and speak good English. We highly recommend her to be your guide.
Dear Albert san Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful review of the tours. We could weather that powerful typhoon and visit places under autumn blue sky! Please enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan and say hello to everyone from Sado. Fujiko
Fujiko's English is very good. She is very experienced and knowledgeable about Sado and knows everyone on the island. She also has a very fun personality. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. She is a good friend to us now. Highly recommended.
Dear Les Thank you very much for writing a review so fast!! It was a lot of fun for me guiding you and talking with Shukunegi locals. I like doing something which surprises my guests a little but you also surprised me! Thank you very much. The weather stays good for a few days and I'm sure you're going to enjoy strolling around Kanazawa city tomorrow. Yes, we are friends now and I'm so happy! Please stay healthy and happy and I'll see you again. Aloha. Fujiko
We were so happy and fortunate to have had Fujiko-san as our guide and Kei-san as our driver in Sado - they truly made our trip special and memorable for our whole family. Typically we don't like guided tours because they are often canned and sterile, but the tour with Fujiko san was the complete opposite--very personalized, unique, and special throughout. Highlights are too numerous to list but included: delicious local fruit, toki watching in the wild, sharing food/drink/conversations at a beautiful rustic mountain villa (loved our picnic lunch!! suica!! somen!!), local festival with dancing/drumming, unearthly geological formations, and just the overall scenic drive through mountain/sea/sky/valley... We cannot thank her and Kei-san enough!!
Dear Satoko san Thank you very much for writing such a wonderful review of the tour. It's not just my itinerary planning and guiding but Kei san and local people who made this whole tour memorable for you. I think guiding is sometimes connecting people and share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime events. Luckily this time you could see shrine festival with deer dance and taiko drumming and that's what I'd like foreign tourists to see if they have a chance. Kei san and I will work hard to make our guests happy and take them to unexpected places because Sado has a lot to offer for tourists. Kei san and I were happy to meet you and we hope you stay healthy and happy! If you miss toki, please come back anytime! Domo Arigato!! Fujiko
We spend amazing four weeks in Japan, but the two trips on Sado Island we did with Fujiko were definitely our highlight. Fujiko did a great job guiding us and spoke excellent English. Apart from being a caring and humorous person one could tell that she really likes being a guide.
Dear James Thank you very much for giving me such a wonderful review. I'm sure you've visited so many places and discovered a lot about mysterious Japan. I hope the memory of Sado stays longer with you. I promise you that I keep working hard in order not to turn into silver! Fujiko
Our visit to Murakami city would not have been as enjoyable or efficient without Fujiko's help. When I planned a day trip to Murakami city I knew having a language guide would be helpful, but I thought I could navigate through the small city by myself. After spending the day with Fujiko I learned that I would not have been able to do and see as much had I decided not to retain Fujiko's help. Especially since I had little time and made an investment to travel to the Niigata area from Tokyo for just the day, it was important for me to maximize my time there for my family. From pre-start to finish, she was a delight to spend the day with and was so helpful and entertaining. Without hesitation I would recommend anyone visiting the Murakami city area to use Fujiko as your guide.
Dear Ray san Thank you very much for the encouraging review of the tour. I had a really good time with your family in Murakami city. It was good that even though we only had 4 hours in Murakami, we could visit many places including famous Murakami beef restaurant, Murakami tea shop, sake brewery, Murakami laquer ware shop and salmon shop! We could talk to many local people and they were happy to have foreign visitors. With your souvenirs from Murakami, I hope the memory of Murakami lasts longer in your family! Please take care and stay healthy and visit Japan again. Fujiko
We recently had the pleasure of meeting Fujiko who gave us an awesome tour of Sado Island. After travelling for a month in Japan it is without doubt that I can say that this tour with Fujiko was the best. Fujiko has a great wealth of knowledge and adapts the tour to what you what to do and see. It was extremely easy communicating with Fujiko. A lovely lady! Cannot recommend her higher! Cath Croatto--Australia
Dear Cath Thank you very much for writing such an encouraging review of the tour. It was a wonderful encounter for me ,too. I'm getting absent-minded, so I have to keep learning (or re-learning?) everyday to make my guests better understand the places they visit. I'm sure you had a memorable time in Japan. Did you try "okonomiyaki" instead of sandwich? I hope you will have another chance to come to Japan and encounter friendly and wonderful guides and locals. Kayo said she had a wondeful time, too. Take care and have fun! Fujiko
Fujiko is, quite simply, the best guide we have ever used -- anywhere. She grew up on the island -- and runs a small farm. She knows Sado Island like the back of her hand. She speaks very good English. But, the best part is that Fujiko avoided the tourist traps. She took us to unusual and interesting places - including an impromptu picnic high up in the mountains. That was the highlight of our entire trip to Japan. We would highly recommend using Fujiko as a tour guide on Sado Island.
Dear Neil Thank you very much for writing such an encouraging review of the tour on Sado Island. I like finding "off the beaten"or "unusual" spots to take my guests to make them fully enjoy the place they visit. Luckily the weather was with us and I hope the memory of the picnic will stay with you long. Fujiko
Fujiko did her best to accommodate our atypical request which took us off the beaten path including touring government offices and riding in taxi cabs. She was knowledgeable, flexible, pleasant, personable and timely. Not the usual 'tourist' tour. Knew the area. Very good communication pre-tour (by e-mail). Fluent in English and Japanese (working on French). Highly recommend her!
Dear Tim and Lynn Thank you very much for writing such an encouraging review of the tour. The tour was a bit different from the usual sightseeing ones but it was a wonderful and memorable tour for me, too. I'll keep studying and learning about Japan, English and more to be more reliable as a tour guide. I hope to see you in 2020 in Tokyo or in Niigata! Thank you again. Fujiko
Soon after booking a day tour of Niigata snd a day tour of Sado Island, Fujiko was in contact with us to find out what we were interested in seeing and our interests. Her verbal and written communication skills were excellent. She provided a list of sites then developed an itinerary after we had provided input. Our itinerary included visiting three farms and picking cherries and strawberrys. In addition to visiting the popular tourist sights, visits to the vegetable and fish markets, she had a wealth of knowledge to share about the history, culture, food, cooking, the people, and her experiences growing up in the area. She met us at hotel on the first day and provided information on how to get to Sado Island for the second day tour. On both days she worked "overtime" to ensure we had a wo... read more
Dear Lester and JoAnn Thank you very much for writing such an encouraging review of my tours. Those two days in Niigata and Sado with you were also so memorable experience for me. With many locals heart-warming help, our tour went beyond my skill as a tour guide! Please enjoy the rest of your Japan trip! Arigatou gozaimashita.
i gave fujiko a list of places we were interested in visiting and she was able to include all of them in our walk in murakami. we also got to eat the murakami beef and their salmon for lunch and we enjoyed ithem. fujiko also introduced to some traditional shops where we could buy some food souvenirs. we really enjoyed our day in Murakam with Fujikoi.
Dear Karleen Thank you very much for the encouraging review of the Murakami tour. The weather was not good enough and I thought we walked a little longer and you might be a bit tired. But all in all you enjoyed the tour and local taste of Murakami which makes me really happy! In Japan, after ohanami, we enjoy seeing fresh green, flowers in gardens and early summer sky. Please say hello and thank you to everyone and hopefully see you again somewhere in Japan. Domo arigatogozaimashita! Fujiko
Our tour guide Fujiko was a blessing for my family when we toured Sado island. Fujiko even surprise met us at the ferry station to ensure we found the bus stop. She and our bus driver Keiki were gracious and knew the island inside and out and she was also able to make a last minute change in our itinerary when we wanted to experience lunch at a local eatery. I highly recommend bookin a tour with her. Our tour included pick up at our hotel in a large bus, toured the Gold Mines and the terraces rice paddies.
Dear Kimi Thank you for your warm review of the tour. We only had about 4 hours to see Sado Island but Keiki and I were truely happy to be your driver and a guide. And luckily you could see toki or crested ibis in the wild! I'm sure they wanted to say hello to you! If you'd like to see other side of Sado, we are happy to welcome you again. Please stay "genki" or healthy and enjoy traveling with your beautiful family members! Also Keiki says hello to you all. Aloha! Fujiko
We experienced Interesting highlights of Niigata with Fujiko. Marketplaces, historic architecture, sake tour/tasting and the Niigata City Aquarium. Fujiko did an excellent job of coordinating the tour within the time limit, something we would not have been able to do on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with Fujiko. She is an excellent guide.
Randall-san and Sadie-san Thank you very much for a review of out Niigata tour. The weather was not perfect but we could visit several places in Niigata in a day. We learn a lot about Hawaii and Niigata and it was really interesting. Did you buy delicious senbei at Ponshu-kan? I hope you did. I was really happy to be your guide. I hope you stay healthy and come back Japan to explore more places soon! Aloha ! Fujiko
