Hello! My name is Fujiko Maeda. I'm a national-licensed tour guide. I was born in Sado Island, off the coast of Niigata Prefecture. I still have little experience as a tour guide but I once worked in tourism industry for about 10 years when I lived in Tokyo. Now I'm a persimmon farmer but when time permits I'm happy to guide you here in Sado. We have a lot to offer like beautiful nature, historical sites, local specialities, traditional performing arts, festivals, islanders smiles and so on.
If you'd like to know real Japanese lifestyle, please visit Sado.
I'm sure you'll be satisfied.
Let's explore Sado with me!

Fujiko is, quite simply, the best guide we have ever used -- anywhere. She grew up on the island -- and runs a small farm. She knows Sado Island like the back of her hand. She speaks very good English. But, the best part is that Fujiko avoided the tourist traps. She took us to unusual and interesting places - including an impromptu picnic high up in the mountains. That was the highlight of our entire trip to Japan. We would highly recommend using Fujiko as a tour guide on Sado Island.
Fujiko did her best to accommodate our atypical request which took us off the beaten path including touring government offices and riding in taxi cabs. She was knowledgeable, flexible, pleasant, personable and timely. Not the usual 'tourist' tour. Knew the area. Very good communication pre-tour (by e-mail). Fluent in English and Japanese (working on French). Highly recommend her!
Soon after booking a day tour of Niigata snd a day tour of Sado Island, Fujiko was in contact with us to find out what we were interested in seeing and our interests. Her verbal and written communication skills were excellent. She provided a list of sites then developed an itinerary after we had provided input. Our itinerary included visiting three farms and picking cherries and strawberrys. In addition to visiting the popular tourist sights, visits to the vegetable and fish markets, she had a wealth of knowledge to share about the history, culture, food, cooking, the people, and her experiences growing up in the area. She met us at hotel on the first day and provided information on how to get to Sado Island for the second day tour. On both days she worked "overtime" to ensure we had a wonderful experience. Our meal experiences were fantastic; we had expressed an interest in eating "where the locals go". She even provided a list of things to do on the other days we were in Niigata. The price was worth it and I would highly recommend Fujiko. The tour with Fujiko exceeded our expectations!!
i gave fujiko a list of places we were interested in visiting and she was able to include all of them in our walk in murakami. we also got to eat the murakami beef and their salmon for lunch and we enjoyed ithem. fujiko also introduced to some traditional shops where we could buy some food souvenirs. we really enjoyed our day in Murakam with Fujikoi.
Our tour guide Fujiko was a blessing for my family when we toured Sado island. Fujiko even surprise met us at the ferry station to ensure we found the bus stop. She and our bus driver Keiki were gracious and knew the island inside and out and she was also able to make a last minute change in our itinerary when we wanted to experience lunch at a local eatery. I highly recommend bookin a tour with her. Our tour included pick up at our hotel in a large bus, toured the Gold Mines and the terraces rice paddies.
