I was born and grew up in Osaka, later lived in Tokyo, then the UK and Singapore, and now I live in Kyoto. I have more than 15 years of experience working in a multinational corporation and now I am working as a national licensed guide interpreter, as well as a City of Kyoto visitors host guide.
One of my hobbies is travelling abroad and so far I have visited more than fifty countries.
Kyoto is the cultural center of Japan and has great historical importance. I can offer you unique experiences in this beautiful city, which can include visits to traditional Japanese gardens, ancient temples and shrines designated as world heritage sites, authentic Japanese cultural experiences such as the tea ceremony, sake tasting at local breweries, and exploring food markets. With a flexible approach, I can help you personalize your agenda.
I will endeavor to make sure that you will have an enjoyable and memorable trip.
I look forward to guiding you here in Kyoto.

Katsuko met us right outside our apartment and took us around a few temples in the Kyoto area. She communicated well and was very knowledgeable and thorough. She made sure that we were comfortable and guided us to coffee and lunch spots. We would have booked her for another day but she was already booked. We had a fabulous time in Kyoto and would highly recommend her .
We took an afternoon tour with Katsuko for our first time in Kyoto (family with 3 teenage girls) Katsuko was very accommodating in providing us multiple itinerary for our consideration especially we only have 4 hours with her, with plenty of suggestions which sights we could easily see on your own. We decided on Arashiyama and Kinkakuji due to distance of these places. From the start it was very well organised. She gave websites links of places that proved to be useful for us. Met us as Kyoto Station as we arrived from Tokyo -due to her detailed instructions we met her easily in an otherwise busy(understatement!) place. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with a Katsuko giving insights and wished it could’ve been longer.
We were very fortunate to have spent 4 hours in Kyoto with Katsuko. Katsuko is evidently highly dedicated, displaying both preparation and a great deal of enthusiasm and sincerity. We were introduced to the main tenets of Shintoism and Zen Buddhism in Japan -there just the right balance of information sharing together with warm and engaging conversation. We would thoroughly endorse Katsuko as a caring and highly knowledgeable professional tour guide. Although our visit to Kyoto was brief, Katsuko provided us with experiences and memories that are sure to be long lasting.
