Yoko gave us a great tour of Mt Fuji and provided us with some great knowledge.
Thank you for your review. It was a great pleasure for me to meet such world travelers and amazing English gentlemen. I wish you could come again soon and shoot the beautiful Mt. Fuji and enjoy Yoshida Udon, which we couldn't try because of the traffic jam of the Obon vacation. Good luck with the editing!! I'll be looking forward to your works.
Myself and my sister were quite nervous coming to Japan, but Yoko was very helpful and showed us around the Tokyo area. We explored temples, shrines, the Metropolitan area, Tsukiji, and the intricate subways! I was confused on how to use the subway system, but she was very patient and helped us understand what we needed to look for. I would highly recommend planning a trip with Yoko, she is very knowledgeable and taught us about the many customs Japan has. Thank you again Yoko!
IIt was my great pleasure, Shahe. I appreciate your prompt review. I had a lot of fun myself showing you and your beautiful sister, Gassia, around the major sights of Tokyo. I wish you would enjoy exploring collector items at Akihabara and the rest of your stay in Japan. Please say hi to Gassia for me and show the pictures to your Mom, too. ^_^
Hire Yoko! You can't go wrong! Since it was our first time in Japan, I thought it would be helpful to have a guide show us around so we wouldn't waste time trying to figure out the subway, etc...Yoko wrote to me beforehand and wanted to know who was touring and what we wanted to see. I told her we were staying on the East side of town and wanted to see as much as possible on the East side. We narrowed it down to 6 sites and I wanted her help exchanging our JR vouchers for rail passes. She went to our hotel beforehand and wrote to me telling me the lobby was on the 24th floor and we would meet at a couch by the elevator. She also asked if it was ok if she picked up 24 hour metro passes for the day so it would be easier (and cheaper) to get around. I said yes. We met her with the passes and got an early start to the day. We started at the fish market where she knew where all the free samples were and we got breakfast and coffee at some of the vendors. This review could be so long because we packed so much into our day but I won't tell you all the details. I will tell you that we learned so much from Yoko. She told us a lot of the history and she kept taking pictures of us. She brought us to all the places we wanted to see and showed us how to navigate the subway, the JR trains and how to buy a PASMO card which became so valuable throughout the trip. We were running late and I had forgotten the passports that we needed to exchange the vouchers. Yoko said not to worry about the time and we took the metro back to our hotel for a quick stop to pick up the passports. She took us to exchange the vouchers and we were off to the next stop. We made it to all the stops and we were shopping at the end and I told her she could go if she wanted because I felt bad we were taking so long. She said it was fine. She was so nice to us. It was like we were visiting a friend or relative and they wanted us to see everything! After our very long day, she wrote to us to see how the rest of our trip was going in Kyoto and had recommendations there as well. She checked on us and gave us great guidance throughout our trip! I had told her where we were staying next when we came back to Tokyo and she had left us a train schedule for getting back to the airport on our last day. She couldn't have been nicer! Her English is perfect! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great trip! Thank you Yoko!!
Thank you so much, Lisa, for such a detailed review!! It was a great pleasure for me guiding such a wonderful family like yours. All of you were so nice that I miss all of you so much. Ken was so intelligent that I was amazed of his reading The Shogun and the biography of Showa Emperor, making all the conversations much more fun. I appreciate you giving me all the information before I was going to ask you and your detailed requests made it much easier for me to make the itinerary. I'm grateful to know that you enjoyed the whole trip. I was also glad to hear from Jackie that she enjoyed the Sumida Fireworks on her own. I wish you would visit the Sato Sakura Gallery New York branch and see you soon during the sakura seasons from February to May in the near future!!
Ms Yoko is very professional, my family and I had an amazing day with her the and the way she explained in detail all the locations
I appreciate your review so much, Olga. I had such a good time with you and your lovely daughters and your nephew, even though the heatwave was quite tough. I hope I can see all of you and Kevin with your sister soon!!
There basically aren’t words that I could use to describe how incredibly happy we were that we booked Yoko! We had three days in Mt. Fuji and needed to book a guide super last minute (like within 12 hours). Yoko was incredibly prompt responding and the communication was super easy. She took the train all the way in from Tokyo to meet us and had the whole day well organized and planned out. First off, Yoko (having lived in the US as a child) is completely fluent in English which was really nice for us since we don’t speak Japanese. She was able to give us the history of the area, context, and knew all the right spots to hit up. We had a blast! During the tour, we mentioned to Yoko that we were trying to track down some “long lost” relatives in Japan (only using my great-aunt’s journals from over 30 years ago). We shared the story with Yoko and talked about the challenges we were having hunting down our relatives info in Japan. Yoko offered to look into it for us... by the next morning, Yoko did some amazing investigative work and tracked down their contact info and even found them on *******! I reached out to them but had a little trouble communicating (again, not speaking Japanese). Yoko offered to reach out to them for us. She called them on our behalf and, over the next few days, was able to arrange a dinner for all of us in Kanazawa. We couldn’t believe it, she was literally a miracle worker! On top of that, we were also interested in visiting the shrine for some of our ancestors in Matsumoto. She made more phone calls and connected with more relatives and was able to share with us the cemetery where they were buried (and even gave us instructions on how to approach the priest at the temple to have him help us find the right shrine). The whole experience was absolutely incredible and it never would have been possible without Yoko’s assistance. The long short of it... Yoko really cares. The tour she provided was highly personal and customized and exactly what we needed. Before we met Yoko, we considered hiring a “private detective” in Japan to help us find our family (at a considerable cost). But... Yoko actually found them and she did it for free just because she cared and wanted to help us out. It was such a wonderful gift for us and we’ll always be grateful! Thank you Yoko!!!
Thank you so much, Allison, for such a great review even though you're still on the road travelling Japan. I was so glad that you enjoyed the tour visiting Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center, Saiko Iyashi no Sato Nemba and Kawaguchiko Music Forest. Both of you, Allison and your elegant mother Sherrie, were so nice to me that it was a piece of cake making the whole day so sweet. I was interested in listening the stories how the Nikkei, Japanese Americans' family made it in Seattle/Bellevue. It was quite exciting trying to find your "long-lost " far relatives just like "A Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" or Alex Hailey's "Roots" but the Internet made it quite easy that I just needed to google the less common family name that the sister of Sadao-san, who guided your Great-Aunts in the 70s and the 80s, got married and had. I guess your late great-aunt Kazuko-san, Sadao-san and his sister helped you make it happen. By the way, the grave of your great-grandfather's brother and Sadao-san's you visited is at a Buddhist temple, not a Shinto shrine in Matsumoto City. I usually explain the distinction between temples and shrines, but I didn't have that chance that day. Please enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan and I would appreciate if I could have another opportunity to guide you in the near future. Thank you again for the wonderful day and the review. Please say hi to Sherrie for me.
My family and I found Yoko on TripleLights and the first thing that attracted us to her was that she said she had lived in the USA from age 3-9. I knew that it would be easy to communicate with her and for our kids to understand her explanations of the places we were planning to visit. I gave Yoko places that I had wanted to visit ahead of time and she balanced out both days with culturally stimulating activities to both entertain the kids and also to let our family learn more about Japanese history, culture and foods. She was so caring, and when my daughters were tired because of jet lag, she fitted in time to go get breaks for snacks and to go into air conditioned areas to cool down from the summer heat. She took so many pictures of our family... it was awesome for us to have all 4 of us in the pictures! Yoko was a guide whom I felt secure with and I would trust my girls with. She is not a push over though; she was more like a teacher who kept the girls stimulated and they actually followed her directions. It was amazing because after our 4th shrine/temple, my girls knew the difference between the two and how to respectfully behave at each. I enjoyed being with Yoko because it was like having an old friend guide us around town! Thank you Yoke for your dedication to your profession and your perseverance towards high customers experiences.
I appreciate your superb detailed review so much, Songsiri. I'm quite flattered. I was glad that Camilla changed from a quiet "Gudetama" to a talkative active girl on the second day. It was a great pleasure for me meeting such a wonderful lady like you, Songsiri, with such a humble, polite, and amicable personality and your kind husband John and lovely daughters, Olivia and Camilla. Please come to Tokyo again soon. I will love to show you Kamakura and/or the World Heritage Nikko. Please have a lot of fun in Osaka and Okinawa. Thank you again for everything making the couple of days awesome!!
I had a fantastic time with Yoko! On Day 1 I joined her for a tour of the Imperial Gardens. She was prompt and even found a vegan ramen restaurant to take me to so I could enjoy ramen as a vegetarian. Her knowledge of the city and the sites was impressive, and at the end of the day, on my request, she found a beautiful fan shop to take me to for souvenir shopping. The second day was a spectacular, custom tour or Nikko. Yoko listened to what I wanted to do and arranged an itinerary to suit my needs, including a local vegetarian lunch she had arranged in advance. She took care of everything so I could just enjoy the sites. As a first-time visitor to Japan I was a little intimidated by all the details I needed to take care of for a day trip to Nikko, and Yoko made it effortless. She even took extra time at the end of the day to take me to a free observatory near Tokyo Skytree that I would never have discovered if it weren't for her. I highly recommend Yoko as a tour guide. She's friendly, knowledgeable, understanding, and speaks perfect English. I hope to work with Yoko again if I come back to Japan!
I appreciate your great review, Maggie-san, before your flight. It was exactly as my "omikuji," fortune telling paper said: "It would be a fun trip." I was lucky to have an amazing guest like you, who could walk quick and intetesting to talk with that we could cover so much, especially at Nikko, we could see the Kegon Falls, Toshogu Shrine, Jyogyodou of Rinonji Temple, Kanmanbuchi and have a Yuba lunch, Onsen, and a quick visit to Kanaya Hotel. I had a great time with you, so I'll be looking forward to seeing you soon in the future. Thank you again for the wonderful days!!
Yoko is an amazing guide, punctual, thorough, and energetic. She spoke English fluently and was very knowledgeable with every site we visited. We loved how she made sure that we are cognizant of local customs. She even managed to find this specialty store we needed to visit and we would have never have found it without her assistance. She tailored her suggested places to visit according to our interests and ensured that we had a good grasp of the public transportation system. We highly recommend her.
Thank you, sir, for such a prompt wonderful review. It was awesome that the weather turned out to be so fine even though the forecast three days ago weren't so well. I had a lot of fun with the amazing Menas so much. I hope the dougi will fit well with your Karate kids, Andrew and Alex. I wish you will enjoy tomorrow with that map and I will be looking forward to seeing all of you soon. Thank you again for everything.
Yoko preplanned tour for us taking into consideration our ages (75+) and any diet problems in advance. We all enjoyed our tour of temples and shrines and were amazed with the size and age of the Big Buddha.Yoko spoke good english and had great background knowledge of the tour.
Thank you, sir, for the review. It was such a lovely day seeing a wedding ceremony held at the stage of Tsuruoka Hachimangu Shrine and meeting two wonderful couples from Australia.^_^ It was so heartwarming talking with all of you. I wish you would tell Wilma, Russell and Veronica that I miss all of you so much.
Yoko was so helpful with train transfers to/from Ashikaga Flower Park given my mother uses a wheelchair. Flower park was absolutely beautiful even with an overcast sky.
Thank you so much, Lisa, for writing a review and giving me the opportunity of letting me meet your wonderful parents. It was such a delight for me to talk with all of you so keen on learning more about the Japanese culture and willing to have very Japanese dishes, including Hijiki, black seaweeds, and Aosa, seaweeds. I wish I could show your mom quiter cherry blossom spots, which not many people know, next year or while she is still eager to travel. The peak season of late March till early April is quite hectic and the hotel rates also goes up, but I know many places that starts blooming since the end of January, as I wrote in my blog. I'll be dreaming of meeting all of you soon, even if I understand it might be quite hard for you to prepare everything. Thank you again, Yoko
Yoko was very helpful and flexible in accommodating our needs. Did not feel rushed. Our children really enjoyed the trip
Thank you, ma'am, for your review. You must've been tired with urgent business coming in even though it was your vacation. You were quite lucky to see three wedding couples at Meiji Jingu Shrine. I was quite amazed with your extraordinary smart son, Ruvindu. After I came to know his abudant knowledge on trains, I went a little bit too far in insisting visiting the Maglev Exhibition Center, but I hope you saw it as an excellent facility with cutting edge technology and stimulating his interest in science more. I was extremely glad when he politely expressed his gratitude toward me after our visit there. I believe in his future that he has the potential of winning a nobel prize or the Fields Medal. I wish you could wear a rental kimono in Kyoto, but if you would like to try (again), I will show you to some stores in Asakusa next time. I hope I could show you some more places like Nikko or Kamakura soon, wishing your beautiful shy princess would speak a little bit more to me, too. Please come back to Japan again soon.
I had engaged Yoko San to show me around Tokyo for a day. Shee was very punctual and very cordial. Her English is excellent nd she knows the city very well she accomodated all my requests and interests and manned the day very well.o doubt if I could have managed evengalf if what we saw, if I had ventured on my own. Thank you Yoko San .
Thank you, Rajini San for your review. I enjoyed the day so much 'cause I could see your beautiful smile over and over again as your T-shirt message "Smile is the Best makeup." Sorry about making you walk so much because that "off the beaten" sakura spot doesn't have a closer station but the one that we used and at some Metro station had some distance when we transfered, but we did see a lot of spots in a day. I'm really looking forward to seeing you and your daughter in your future vacation. Thank you again, Rajini San.
Very informative, trying to fit in a lot of sightseeing into the time available. Good English. Enjoyed her company!
Thank you for your review, Janet. I enjoyed strolling at the East Gardens, talking about a lot of flowers with you,a member of Gardening club, and seeing the beautiful kimonos together. I was quite impressed how Walter was quite keen to take pictures of the fish at the Market. I hope you would enjoy the rest of your cruise. Oh, and please don't forget to use the PASMO!! You can use it nationwide in Japan.
As we embarked on our first journey to Japan, and Tokyo being our first stop, we are very happy to have met Ms. Yoko and have her as our guide. Yoko was very thorough, as she went through every destinations on our list to gauge the required time for each place. On our tour day, she brought a blanket for us to use, in case we wanted to have a picnic lunch. Yoko's English is very fluent, and her knowledge of cultural, geography, and history facts of Japan made us enjoy and appreciate Japan even more! Thank you Yoko, for a wonderful day in Tokyo, as it was a fantastic start to our wonderful 2 weeks in Japan.
Thank you so much, Tara, for writing a wonderful review for me. It was such a lovely day seeing so many sakuras, peach flowers, Rhododendrons, etc. with such a lovely couple like you. I still remember your husband saying, "Honey, let's take a picture here!" over and over again, which made me happy, too. I felt encouraged a lot when I found Japan had a lot in common with your mother country. It was amazing to find people who won't eat raw fish could spend hours at Tsukiji Market. I brought the camping mat so we could have a longer break at the beautiful garden myself. It was so beautiful that day, wasn't it? Thank you again, Tara, because I was quite glad meeting wonderful people like you. I wish I could see you soon and show other beautiful places. Till then, please take care.
I went with Yoko from Tokyo to Nikko for a day trip in April '18. She was very knowledgeable about the area ~and~ very knowledgeable about how to get there from various places in Tokyo. So she could help me not only with the visit to Nikko, but also with how get there and back. This was great because I'd never been to Nikko before. While we were there, she was very active and fun to be around. We saw a variety of places that I wanted to see and she was able to share information about the places very well. Her English is excellent. She was also kind enough to quiz me on hiragana as we walked around :). I'd gladly set up a trip with her again. A note about the temples in Nikko.. they liked stairs... they liked stairs a lot. Make sure you're in shape when you get there. I was worn out at the end of the day. Thankfully, Yoko was kind enough not to make fun of me as I tired.
Konbanwa, Tom-san!! Thank you so much for such a great review. It was April Fool, but seriously it was an amazing day with the view of beautiful sakuras from our trains, too. I was lucky to have such a wonderful Japanese fan like you as my guest. I enjoyed the conversations so much and loved explaining all the things. I was amazed and appreciated your interest in Japan. The Nikko people didn't want their places be destroyed like they destroyed the shrine of the samurai of Osaka Castle, so they built them on hills, which forced you to struggle with stairs. You could've skipped the mausoleum of the first Shogun of the Edo period, but wasn't it worth the experience, making you feel he was higher than ordinary people?:-) I love to show you to other interesting places, where you can talk with the locals in Japanese, so I'll be looking forward to your third visit to Japan. I hope you keep on enjoying your Japanese study. See you soon!!
Yoko is the kind of guide you want to be with. She is very organized from the very beginning. She will communicate with you from the time you book your tour up to the day of the tour and she would communicate with you after the tour. You will find a friend in her. She is very open minded and she will orient and educate you with Japanese culture. My family learned a lot from her. She would try to accommodate all of your request regarding your tour and she is honest enough to let you know if it doesn’t work. She will also give you options to accommodate everyone’s likes. She is very prompt. She Is willing to experience new things. She is fluent in English. Thank you Yoko! My family had a good time with you. It was a wonderful tour. You did an awesome job! Keep it up.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, Celestine. I appreciate your taking time for that. I was lucky that you chose me 'cause it was wonderful meeting you and your family. I loved to see you how great you was as a mother, daughtet, wife and a person. You and your sister Lizanne are so beautiful, but I was amazed how intelligent both of you were while talking with you. I was happy that Ronaldo and Raphel was so great brothers and the basketball player loved to challenge the Japanese things, choosing tatami zashi instead of the table seats. I would like to take Mr. Manois, to the genuine sushi restaurant using red vinegar in Tsukiji next time you come. I was quite glad when he commented that he could live here ' cause he loved Japanese sushi so much. Oh, I made an Ashikaga Flower Tour, so I could have a better chance of seeing the wisterias. Please tell your family that I miss all of you so much and hoping to meeting all of them soon. Thanks again for the detailed review.
My mom and I booked a tour with Yoko to see Cheurito Pagoda and the surrounding areas by the lake. She met us at the lobby of our hotel and guided us the entire way. She even brought origami paper and taught us to make cranes on the bus ride there. She thought of everything! It was stress free and she was lovely to spend the day with. Yoko suggested the combo tram and boat ride which were both amazing. She also picked an amazing place for lunch. By far the best day we had in Japan. I highly recommend her for the experience and the company!
Wow, Michelle!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review during your flight. Even if the former guests were also amazing and I enjoyed talking with, I felt my body was a little tired after long days while I was going to your hotel, but after I met you and your mom, Shari, it was so much fun that I enjoyed all of the conversations with both of you. You were so friendly and enjoyed the "Gorgeous!!" Sakura, the view of Mt. Fuji and SAKE so much which made me quite happy. All the activities were so relaxing that I felt quite refreshed. The udon restaurant using a home of the locals served locals are a unique experience you could have maybe only in that area. I don't know that kind of restaurant in Tokyo yet. I'm glad you enjoyed that day, too. Oh, don't forget to review how to fold the crane before you forget and please teach Shari, your mom, how to fold it if she forgot how to. You can see Mt. Fuji quite clearly in winter season and sometimes it snows there. Please tell Shari, her second house on the hill is waiting for her to come back. Please come again soon and let's have fun together.Thank you again for making it a wonderful day.
From the very beginning after I booked Yoko, she began to email me ideas and itineraries to consider. She also mentioned she was doing dry runs through the areas we wanted to see so she could figure out timing for us. I was impressed at her dedication. Once we arrived in Tokyo, she had subway maps and restaurant pamphlets for us to keep us organized. She spent extra time with us to make sure we got around safely. She suggested places to visit that our sons would enjoy, and because of this we actually got one of our best photo opportunities of the trip when she took us to a cafe that printed our images on our lattes! She emailed pictures after the tour. She speaks great English and is easy to understand. You can tell she really cares for her job and her clients. My one piece of criticism would be that she seems unaccustomed to young children, so frequently seemed overwhelmed by our young boys and their hyper energy. She was strict about where we could use our stroller and where we couldn't, and that felt a bit harsh to us. If you are traveling without kids, DEFINITELY choose Yoko. She is great at her job. She even gave us suggestions for places to visit in the next city in Japan where we were headed.
Thank you Sherry so much for choosing Triple Lights and me and taking the time to write a detailed review. It was a great pleasure for me to see your flexibility to try out some Japanese customs quite hilariously. Now you are much more a "purification ritual" master than I am. I enjoyed going around with your cute little boys even though I was surprised that a five-year-old kid still using a stroller. It was quite impressive at a tuna store in Tsukiji that the master let Nico not only stand beside the Tuna but also let him hold his precious huge knife like a sword and pose for pictures. I love to see their pictures from now on, too and see how they would grow up. I'm sorry you didn't understand the Tsukiji Market rule to do without strollers on the bustling narrow streets. Luckily it was less crowded than usual when you visited, but it oftens happen that the streets are so busy that people actually need to shove their way ahead. I wish you would come again to see the beautiful cherry blossoms that one of my former pious Copt guests said, "It looks like heaven on earth." Please say hi to your wonderful husband Sherif, great sister Mary and gracious mother whom I adore so much and cute little boys, Nico and Auggie. Please enjoy the rest of your vacation!!
Yoko was a very pleasant and helpful guide, who made the day very enjoyable. Navigating the metro, trains and busses is not very easy so it was great to have a good guide. Kamakura is well worth a visit with many temples & shrines it's busy but away from the hustle of Tokyo.
Thank you so much, Sheila, for the review. I hope your plane could take off without a delay. I had such a relaxing time myself, seeing you appreciating the Great Buddha and seeing you silently conversing with Kannon still makes me smile. I hope you can see Mt. Fuji more the next time you visit here.
