Hi,I'm Hiroyuki Fukui. Please call me Hiro.
I'm a government certified guide interpreter.
I'm originally from Gifu Prefecture located in Central Japan and have lived in Nara city for more than twenty years.
I used to be a civil engineer working for a construction company and experienced overseas projects mainly in South Pacific region for about nine years.
During my stay abroad, I had an opportunity to look Japan from outside and realized the beauty of Japan from different point of view.
Now I retired from the company and I'm guiding foreign visitors mainly over Kansai district including Nara, Kyoto and Osaka to help them know more about the history, the culture and the people of Japan.
I'm looking forward to serving you soon.

We took a half day tour with Hiroyuki and he was very patient with my two elderly parents and two young kids. He brought us around on a rainy day and ensured we saw the sights we set out in our itinerary. He came with a bag of goodies for the kids and introduced them to some Japanese snacks. He also helped my mother repair her shoe that had a problem with the sole due to the rain as he knew a type of fast drying glue that could even work on wet surfaces.
We had an outstanding day with Hiro. He came well prepared with a lot of information regarding our sights and interests. We loved how he took the time to explain everything we wanted to know. He immediately knew how to further create the day after meeting us - sensing when we needed a small break or wanted to take more pictures. We appreciated his flexibility when we made changes during the day as well. Overall, Hiro is kind, polite, interesting with loads of knowledge and has a great sense of humor! Highly recommended and we would book a tour with Hiro again if we do come back to Japan.
Our experience was very good. He was knowledgeable and punctual.
We booked three customised tours with Hiroyuki, a 6 hour temples tour in Kyoto (which went over time), a full day Nara - Yoshino tour and a half day Osaka tour. Hiro worked with us before the tours to ensure that the schedule covered our areas of interest and were achievable, while still fitting in as much as possible during each day. All communications prior to travelling were always clear and prompt and Hiro also arranged our train tickets from Kyoto to Yoshino and Nara to make our lives easier and in Osaka he helped coordinate a meeting with family of a work colleague whom we had never met. Hiro was very knowledgeable about all of the sites we visited, and he was also very patient if we stayed too long at a particular location causing us to miss our planned train or bus connection ("ït is OK, we will just catch the next one"). If we are ever in Japan again, I would definately book with Hiro again.
Our group of 4 had an excellent time with Hiroyuki as our tour guide who speaks english efficiently. He was very interactive with our group and was very knowledgable about the history of each destination. He was also very flexible as I gave Hiro a list of places that was a must see for us; Todaiji Temple, Nara Park, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kinkakuji (Golden Pavillion), and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Hiro was more than happy to accommodate our request even though it was going to be a long day given that location of each place, but he did it, he made it happen!! He knew what we wanted out of the tour and made the trip worth it. We took longer at some destinations, but Hiro was patience and let us do our thing before we moved on. We really appreciated that. He even met us in Osaka where we were staying just to guarantee that we would make it on time and knew where we was going. For lunch, we went to a nice little spot near the station to try some Japanese authentic food, which was a nice little break from all the sushi and ramen we ate. I would definitely have Hiro as my guide whenever I visit Osaka again and highly recommend him to anyone because you will not be disappointed!
