Hi,I'm Hiroyuki Fukui. Please call me Hiro.
I'm a government certified guide interpreter.
I'm originally from Gifu Prefecture located in Central Japan and have lived in Nara city for more than twenty years.
I used to be a civil engineer working for a construction company and experienced overseas projects mainly in South Pacific region for about nine years.
During my stay abroad, I had an opportunity to look Japan from outside and realized the beauty of Japan from different point of view.
Now I retired from the company and I'm guiding foreign visitors mainly over Kansai district including Nara, Kyoto and Osaka to help them know more about the history, the culture and the people of Japan.
I'm looking forward to serving you soon.

Hiroo was our guide in Nara. He was probably the best guide we had. He went above and beyond what a tour guide does and you could tell he loves showing tourists around and teaching them about Japan. The day we were in Nara there was a special Buddhist ceremony. Hiro offered to take us to it at no extra cost. It was because he truly cared about showing us something special. During the day he took his time with us and answered all our questions. The one obscure question we had, he did not know the answer. But the next day he researched it and sent us the explanation. Finally, while we were waiting for the Buddhist ceremony we went to a sake tasting. It was great to hang out with other locals in Japan. Hiro made the day special and memorable and consider him a friend after my tour with him. I would highly recommend. I plan on going back to Kyosan and having him be my guide. Thank you Hiro! I really enjoyed the customized tour with Hiroyuki. He planned everything with great details and was truly humourous at times. Not only did he do a good job in guiding but also bought me drink and souvenir. Highly recommend him as a guide for a good experience in japan.
We had a wonderful looong day with Hiroyuki in Nara; he met us from the Kyoto train at 10am and saw us onto the return train at 8pm. Hiroyuki is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about Nara and also a really nice guy. We first saw temples, shrines and the park at Nara with detailed commentary from Hiroyuki; embellished with interesting stories, notably the tragic tale of a wronged courtesan. We then had a really nice lunch at a restaurant Hiroyuki found after his initial selection turned out to be closed and then went for a sake tasting at a local sake brewery. The sake was delicious and gave us all (not least Hiroyuki) a warming boost. The next stage of our tour, after passing some time in the pleasant shopping arcades of Nara, was to participate along with a big crowd in the Setsubun festival (the eve of the first day of spring) at Kofokuji temple with sutras, demons being pacified, and lucky beans being thrown to the waiting crowd. An amazing experience enhanced by Horoyuki's excellent commentary and sense of fun.
Mr Hiroyuki was very gracious and knowledgeable . He was very helpful in arranging our bus tickets to our destination. Very professional by preparing our itinerary in advance for our review.
Hiroyuki-san, was an excellent guide who helped our family for four (including two seniors) minimize costs on transport despite us having to travel in a van. He posted the budget for the entire trip way in advance for our consideration and suggested various alternatives for our consideration before we finalized our itinerary with him. An honest and likeable guide and we would highly recommended to all travellers.
