I worked as a public servant in the local government for 35 years. I belonged to the department of Redevelopment, Town-Landscaping and Architectural Guidance. (I have a national 1st-class architect license.) I devoted myself to revitalizing the city by making plans and improving infrastructure for citizens.
Gifu is located in central Japan near Nagoya. There are many unique tourist points to discover that are hard to find in hectic big cities like Tokyo and Kyoto. I had a hand in restoring and preserving many of them throughout my career and want to introduce them to tourists from abroad. That’s why I became a guide-interpreter in Gifu.
I also enjoyed traveling around the world. My favorite part of each trip was walking around the city and talking with local residents. Traveling has taught me many things during my lifetime. Now, I would like to help others have similar experience in Japan.

The guide was very well prepared and he kindly agreed our request of earlier meeting. We enjoyed a remarkable experience and we strongly suggest Tetsuji and the Nakasendo tour to everyone will stop in Gifu Area!
It was a great honor to be able to guide you in Nakasendo while staying in Japan on honeymoon. I also appreciate your kind review to me. I really hope you and your family members will visit Japan again and spend some time with me in Gifu.
Tetsuji guided our clients in Seki city. He was excellent to work with prior to the tour and helped arrange all the tour details. He went out of his way to assist these passengers and even provided a discount for the entrance to visit the Swordsmith museum. I'm sure our passengers had a great tour and we will be using Tetsuji's services again in the future!
Thank you so much for nice review. I hope your clients have enjoyed my guided tour. They were an excellent guest for me. I also learned some new matters because of you. Thanks again. Please give my vest regards to Nadeau & Despatie Family. I am looking forward welcoming new guests from your company.
We had a wonderful tour with Tetsuji in Gifu. My wife and I took my elderly parents on an extended tour of Japan. The Cormorant fishing tour guided by Tetsuji was one of the highlights of our visit. He was conscientious about our needs and adjusted the tour to keep with my parents pace. He was engaging, open and friendly. Tetsuji connected with my father especially well as they shared similar interest in feudal Japanese history. We became quick friends. We can't recommend Tetsuji highly enough. Not only is he an excellent guide, (as he was able to show us many cultural highlight that even many locals don't know about), Tetsuji treated us as real friends. We hope to see Tetsuji again soon either in San Francisco, Shanghai, or Hangzhou where we spend time. We look forward to taking him on a... read more
Thank you for fabulous appreciation. I am very glad to have shared happy time with you and your family members through my guided tour. Actually, I was able to guide at ease because all of you communicated with me as if I were a member of your family. Above all, your respectable father asked me various questions including the title of a Japanese song. I sometimes enjoyed answering them setting my duty aside. I believe you are a role model of filial piety and your father will be happy. I repeatedly thank you so much. I am really looking forward to seeing you again.
Tetsuji was very nice and enjoyable to be with. He was flexible in terms of our adding places we wanted to see in Takayama. His English is very good. When we asked questions he couldn't answer, he worked hard to find someone who could answer them. We know that Tesuji is fairly new to this, and expect that he will gain more knowledge of Takayama as he takes more clients there.
Thank you for nice review for me. I appreciate your kind words that encourage me committing to brush up my guide skills. I believe all unexpected questions from guests could be important ingredients for me to develop. I will make every kind of efforts to get full score. I am looking forward to guiding for you next time.
Thank you very much for the photos enjoying our tour of Takajama. I very much enjoyed the tour of Takajama and especially your extensive knowledge of Takayama and the region. It was very much appreciated. The experience was outstanding and will always be great memories for me to reminisce. Tetsuji thankyou for your professionalism and leadership it was very much appreciated and I would have no hesitation in recommending your professional services to your prospective clients at anytime.
