Eric took us for the 9 hour supertour of some of the key highlights of Kyoto. We covered the Golden Temple, the Bamboo Forest, Nijo Castle, the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Higashikujomuromachi-Honganji temple, Gino and the Yasaka Pagoda. It was an excellent day and Eric was knowledgeable, warm and friendly as well as extremely flexible. He did a great job and we were very happy.
We had heard about Gion and wanted to visit. As I am mobility impaired we decided the grouo tour was not an option as I cannot always keep up with the group and therefore miss some of the infomation. The tour we selected allowed personalisation and to be tailored to my pace. Eric was informative being a Kyoto native and took us to places that we probably wouldn't have seen let alone known about. Gion is a maze of small streets and without a knowledgable guide it would be easy to get lost. We also invited Eric to join us for dinner afterwards and his recommendation was excellent. He gave us an insight into the history of the area as well us showing us many places in the 1.5 hours of the tour.
We had a half day your with Eric in Kyoto. He meet us promptly at the station as planned and was very well prepared with background info on Japan history and culture relevant to what we were going to see. Eric led us to two temples and a shrine very efficiently with lots of insightful info. It was a great tour.
Ms Diane Thank you for your comments I am very happy to hear from you that you enjoyed Nara tour Please enjoy Japan Eric Tanaka
Eric met us when we arrived at the Kyoto Station. Then, he took as to our hotel. There, he gave us a quick summary on Japanese history, to provide context for the places we will be visiting. On the first day, for 6 hours, the six of us went with him to visit Nijo Castle, Nishiki Market, and Kiyomizu Temple. Eric continued to explain the political and religious background as we walked through Nijo Castle. When we were at Nishiki, it started to rain and Eric bought umbrellas for each of us. The Kiyomizu temple was an uphill walk. Eric took us through a path that was less steep, and was patient as we climb up at our own pace. The next day, for 10 hours, the nine of us went with Eric to Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Tenryuji Temple, Kinkakuji Temple, Fushimi Inara Shrine, Todaiji Temple, and Nara... read more
Mr Myra Thank you very much for your comments And I am very happy to hear from you that you enjoyed 2 days tours in Kyoto and Nara Please come again to Kyoto. Eric Tanaka
After extensive research into private guides, we are so happy and lucky we found Eric! He is amazing! He is very knowledgeable about Kyoto, Osaka, Japan history, and he navigated the train/subway system with ease. We were traveling in a party of 7 with a wheelchair (grandpa can only walk short distances) and an 8 month old baby, so we had to take a lot of elevators. He was very patient and even in the bustle of people at the train stations, he kept everything calm and we did not feel rushed. We were able to see everything he had planned out on our itinerary - which for two days was impressive! Day 1 Kyoto: We saw the Fushimi Inari Shrine with 1000 Tori, Kyoto Imperial Palace, ate lunch at a popular Japanese “fast food” (Nakai - although fast it was so yummy!), Ginkakuji (the golden tem... read more
