Having traveled to Japan a number of times and worked with a number of guides, I cannot emphasize enough how good a guide Miwi is. Her English is outstanding, and she is very conscientious in trying to accommodate all types of interests. In addition, she always followed up on questions and provided interesting background. Combined with her positive personality and quick laugh, it was a pleasure to explore Akita and Aomori with her.
My dear Jan & Lena! It had been unforgettable days for me too. It is my pleasure that I could share your experiences in Tohoku local foods, arts, history, local crafts and adventures in nature. I assume you guess you have already seen most of the must-see places in Aomori and Akita, I can show you a lot more in other seasons! Thanks for finding me through this TripleLights site. I wish to keep in touch with you to share more informations. I am so happy to hear you liked my tour guiding. Come back to Tohoku to enjoy more UNI, sea urchin (^_-)-☆ before you get starved. I will wait for the day I can see your Japanese garden.
Miwi was full of life and very energetic about Aomori Prefecture. Unfortunately the weather was a bit snowy and our ship was delayed a couple hours from docking. However, Miwi altered the itinerary a bit and we had a wonderful day with her and our group of 8 from the cruise ship. We visited many great places that would not be possible with a ship tour. We visited Goshogawara Tachineputa with its amazing 23-metre high floats for the August festival. This was definitely a must-see place. We also visited another festival location for the Nebuta Festival to see the difference between the floats and festivals. We also visited Tsuruta bridge in a beautiful setting and a brief stop where apples were being harvested and a chance to try one of their many apple varieties. The highlight of th... read more
Mr.James, I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your day in Aomori. As you have mentioned, I also had been anxious about the weather and the delay of docking. We were lucky that the departure also had been delayed and your taxi was flexible enough that the taxi company also wanted you to enjoy Aomori. Thanks a lot that none of you were bothered by the coldness and snow of the day. I hope I have more chances to show you more Aomori amour country ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و Thanks again to find me through this TripleLights, Miwi
Miwi is a wonderful guide and a great person! She made our day fascinating and so informative! Maps, depictions on her drawing pad (even writing each of our names in Japanese characters!) seeking out experiences we never would have had trying to do any of this on our own! We were three hours late getting off the ship but she was there, waiting for us with her infectious laugh and amazing smiles! We saw everything on our plan and truly, it was a wonderful six hours with her. Her English is easy to understand and her information is great! We are honored to be her guests! We were blessed with great guides throughout our Japan cruise with our port by port arrangement of private local guides for touring. It would be very hard to pick ‘the best’ but if I had to choose, it would be Miwi. read more
Dear Ms. Sherrill! It is my honor I could show you my loving places and you enjoyed them. I also was amazed quite that we did see everything in your itinerary in spite of the three hours delay. It could be done because of your cooperation. I am so much appreciated and blessed you are my guests. I don't know if it is "in spite of" or "because of", it was an unforgettable day with a lot of incidents including the delay of the dock for me, too. I am looking forward I have at least another chance we are seeing each other again!
Miwi did organize our tour perfect in advnce and met us at the cruise ship Terminal with a very nice Taxi Driver. It was a very relaxing tour and we did See most of the local Highlights. The Hirosaki Castle, the Summer Festival museum and teh Japaners sword studio are a must. We thank Mewi for this nice day.

First met Miwi san in Akita airport, her laugher made my day with happiness, and felt welcome to Akita. She explains every thing in details. So happy to have her as our tour guard. Will come again to Akita .

We had a wonderful experience with Miwi. She was the perfect guide - super friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible guide. We had so much fun with her. We would love to tour with her again! She is now a "friend".
My friend Mr. Peter! Thanks a lot for your sweet review! I know I am privileged I could be your tour guide in Akita. I enjoyed being with your group and would thank you for making up the happy and lovely group. I am looking for another chance I can show you more about the Japanese northern lives. See you again!
Bright and bubbly, cheerful. Totally in touch with and responsive to our group at all times. Excellent group control in a very nice way. Excellent English, thorough knowledge of local history and customs, as well as Japan in general. Very good at giving examples, including those from her own life. Wonderful personality. Would definitely ask for her again!!
My dear Mr. Bob! How sweet of you to find me out through all the tour guides in Japan and gave me the chance to guide you and your friends. And I am so much appreciated to hear you could enjoy your AKita tour. Akita has a lot more I want you to see, I would keep praying the day to come. I wish you and all your friends to enjoy every moment during your cruise and after it. Thank you very much that I enjoyed being with you.
We arrived in Akita aboard a cruise ship with 5 hours for touring. Our main interest was visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Akita. Miwi met us at the dock with an enthusiastic welcome that matched her bright style. She understood well our priorities and planned perfectly. Besides the Shrine, there was a special coffee house and and the opportunity to taste local highly reputed Sakes. With excellent English and great communication skills, she gave us a full understanding of the region, town and Shrine. When we think of Akita, Miwi's special personality will always come to the forefront. Steve and Pilar Stein, Coral Gables, Florida
Dear Mr.Steve and Mrs.Pilar, The day your tour guide enjoyed to guide you in cherry blossoms is so memorable. This must be a bless of the Lady. I am talking not only about the memory of the beautiful day but also the happy review you wrote for me. I know I must be the blessed one that you found me through this TripleLights site. I always wish you to be more blessed than I am that you came far Akita to see the Lady. I wish to let you enjoy more sake (rice wine and your interest, double meaning LOL) . I am so appreciated I could be a friend of yours.
We were a party of 8 from a cruise ship that stopped for the day in Aomori. Miwi had an excellent day planned for us. We first visited a Samari Blacksmith shop, then went to the Seiben Garden. We then spent about 2 hours at the Cherry Blossum Festival at Hirosaki Castle. We got to see the Festival in process and had lunch then. We finished with the Neputamura museum. We had a full and great day with Miwi. Miwi is an excellent guide and a very likable person. Our driver was also excellent. We had a full and great day in Aomori.
Dear Barbara!! I am so appreciated I could be Your tour guide! It was really a wonderful day that I could be a part of your group. Northern Japan has a lot more to visit and I keep expecting to have another chance to guide you again. Thanks a lot for your nice review also. with love, Miwi
Miwi is a bundle of energy and joy and I was grateful that I booked her for my tour. If I could have added more days to my tour, I would have added more days in Akita and hired Miwi for the extra days. She is full of spirit and has a great love for her country and especially Akita. Make sure to see the Namahage Museum and enjoy the performance there.
Dear Don, The day I had been with you was marvelous! I enjoyed to guide you Oga, but I am sooo happy to know YOU enjoyed it. It was so cold we had snow on the previous day but now you can be in full of cherry blossoms in Akita. I would love to show you all the four different seasons of Akita, and I am quite sure you'll love them. Thanks a lot you found me through this TripleLights site. I am looking forward to read more in your blogs, and expecting we can see each other some day again. with the appreciation more than I can describe, Miwi
Miwi-san is an excellent guide and perfect for exploring the hidden gems of Akita! She was able to offer a very personalised tour considering my interests which made me feel very special. From the efficient coordination with the staff in the places we visited to the wonderful lunch recommendation, I really enjoyed my day tour with her!
My dear Ms. Maria, I am so appreciated to know you enjoyed your day in Akita. It really had been a blessing for me that I could meet Our Lady of Akita with you. It is snowing in Akita today again, I am sure you are well blessed that no rain nor snow bothered you to have your tour. I would love to show you all four different seasons in Akita, so I’ll be looking forward to have another chance to see each other. With too much appreciation to tell you, Miwi
As a seasoned ocean cruise traveler, who along with my wife have used many different private tour guides for our numerous shore excursions, Miwi is arguably the best private tour guide we ever had. She speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about Akita and it's surrounding areas. Her expert commentary on the samurai house, the tea house visit and lunch, and the beautiful Tazawako Lake are all memorable. The highlight of our tour was the walk through the Dakigaeri Gorge to the Mikaeri-no-taki waterfall. The two thirds mile walk to the waterfall is a must. To see the beautiful blue water contrasting with the beautiful white boulders and the green foilage is unbelievable. And the falls are a sight to see. I wish I could add pictures I took in them. Maybe Miwi will post s... read more
I should mention that you made me cry quite!! Thank you is not enough at all to show my appreciation that you became my precious guests and gave me such a wonderful comment to my tour. The Koa Clock on my fireplace will always cheer me up. I miss you and your party, but am looking forward that we will have another chance to see each other again!! Hoping all my appreciation can be reached to you!
Miwi did a very good job explaining the history in Oga. She took us to many places within the peninsula and took the time to stop and see the best views. She is friendly and very considerate. I would defintely hire her again.
Hi, Elson-san, I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed Oga with me. I had been worrying about your journey after Akita. Thank Our Lady of Akita she has blessed and protected you. I am looking forward I will have another chance to show you Aktia more!
Very helpful, very accommodating, well prepared and very knowledgeable about places we went in Akita. Joyful, friendly and happy to be with her for the whole day.
Thank you for your review and I am happy to know you enjoyed Akita. I am so pleased I could accompany your group to the Miracle Convent on the Transfiguration Day. I am looking forward I can show you more Akita and Aomori someday. I'll be waiting to see you again.
