We have just returned from a 12 day trip to Japan. This was our first trip to Japan so I hired 4 different guides in 4 different cities. Toichi was by far the best guide our entire trip. By the time we got to him in Osaka we had done 2 tours and were exhausted. It seems Japanese culture is very structured and keeping to the structure and on time is a priority. While I can appreciate that, it is also a vacation so it must be enjoyable and allow for some flexibility. Ichi first recommended the hotel we stayed in which was a big help. When he met us there he was so friendly and enthusiastic. He took us to Nara and Osaka. He always took our needs into consideration, even taking us to a book store and helping our daughter find the Anime she had been looking for. He made the train ride... read more
Dear Janet, Thank you very much for taking a time to write a long review while you must be busy after returning to the States. I try to be my clients’ first friend in Japan, but I am sometimes not sure whether I am doing the right thing. So, your overwhelming comments make me assure that I can continue to keep on working as a professional guide. Thank you very much. I hope you will be interested in Japan more now, and maybe you decide to visit Japan again in the future. best regards, Toichi Nakata (Ichi) your guide and your friend in Japan
Ichi was a joy to have as a guide. He was super organized and friendly, and an excellent communicator in English. We had told him about our interest in seeing a Bunraku Puppet performance at the National Bunraku Theater and I had bought tickets online ahead of time for us and him to attend a performance. In messages back and forth, he helped us figure out the train schedule and logistics of train stations to make sure we arrived in time at our hotel to meet him and get to the performance on time. Ichi was very organized about the schedule and set of neighborhoods, fish market, shopping areas and historic sites that we could see during the day. At the same time, he was flexible about adjusting the schedule when needed, and catering to our interests. When we let him know of our interest in c... read more
Dear Susan, Thank you very very much for your detailed overwhelming review of the tour! I had also enjoyed every minute of a day with you, and I am glad to hear the rest of your trip in Japan also went well. By the way, in a way you were lucky with the weather because Japan became excruciatingly hot after you left. I was walking all day under the screamingly hot sun today, and I thought I was going to pass out. You are a lovely family, and I sincerely hope we as the world can provide the great future for such a lovely son you have. Keep smiling and Good Luck!!!
Toichi surpassed expectations! Beyond a guide, he taught us history, currently culture, and language. Not an easy task while covering miles of ground and thousands of years of history. I can not recommend him highly enough.
Dear Evan, Thank you very much for your exceptional review. We had a lot to move from Kyoto to Himeji and then walking around Osaka. Thanks very much for putting up with my fast walk, and I hope your legs are OK today. It is going to be very hot for the next few days, so try to drink a lot of water not to dehydrate yourself. Hope you can make a lot of good memories you can share with Zoe and some stories to tell to your wife back home.
One word describes Ichi. Excellent. As we were stopping off at Himeji on our way to Kyoto, I thought it would be good to book a guide to get us to the Castle and back in quickest time and with minimum fuss, but what we got from Ichi was 100 times more than that. He was waiting on us right at the door of our train, helped us find lockers for our suitcases. We got a lesson in how to count in Japanese, he gave us the history of the Castle along with a history lesson of Japan. We got an origami lesson to make a paper crane. We also managed to visit the Gardens next door. He was informative, funny, friendly and we just had the best experience. He actually had a bad cold, but that did not hold him back in way. We bought some food eat to on the train and Ichi ran off, came back and surpri... read more
Dear David, Thank you very much for your overwhelming review. I am sorry I kept on coughing during the tour, but I am glad you had a good few hours in Himeji under the glittering sun. Thank you very much for a nice card and a present from Scotland as well. Please tell my regards to Audrey and Kieran and hope your trip will give you wonderful memories and experiences to last for a long time. best regards, Ichi
Ichi was an amazing guide. He really went above and beyond for our family of 8, including my elderly father. We truly enjoyed our time with Ichi. His English is excellent and his guidance through Kyoto and Monkey Park/Bamboo Forest was great. We threw him a lot of curve balls with schedule and sites to visit, but he was so accommodating and kind about it all. We had kids traveling with us ranging from aged 12-15 and he was fun and kind communicating with them (even showing some Japanese writing while the parents shopped a bit). I would highly recommend Ichi - he's personable, kind and welcoming.
Dear Julie, 안녕하십니까? Thank you very much for your overwhelming review. Hope you had a good trip in Korea and China. I wanted to speak more about Korea with you and your father. I am now a Pokémon friend with your daughter/niece, so every time I open Pokémon, I think of your family. Hope you continue to have a great journey in Korea and in the States, and moreover, with your life!
we had a fantastic day with Itchy ( number 1 ) he picked us up at the port in Kobe and took us on a great sight seeing and tasting experience and taught us to count in japanese with the help of a great story. we got on so well and found out that he used to make short films very close to where we are from in the UK also teaching us to write our own names in japanese was a great touch ( he had a lot of prepared things to do ) which made the whole day fun and memorable would highly recommend Itchy Thank you very much Martin & Jane and Neal & Rhonda
Dear Martin & Jane and Neal & Rhonda, Thank you very much for your kind review. You brought me back some good memories of England. I believe you must be safely back in the UK by now. Enjoy your short, but lovely summer!
Toichi made our first trip to Osaka a very memorable and special one. He went out of the way to ensure we got to see the sights the best way possible and peppered the journey with elements of Japanese culture and history. He was also very thoughtful trying to look out for lifts and escalators when my knee started giving problems. He customised everything from the route, sights right up to the lunch to meet our needs and was upbeat and full of energy throughout. We are grateful to have picked Toichi as our Guide and recommend him highly ??
Dear Prema, Good morning. Thanks very much for your overwhelming comments on my tour. Hope your knee is feeling better, and you find the way to your hotel in Kyoto all right. Try to visit two of my favorite places in Kyoto I mentioned to you. Ask for the direction at your hotel or just get onto the cab. They are both located on the same side of Kyoto you will be staying. I appreciated the way Andre laughed with my sometimes bad jokes! Hope you return to Singapore with some good memories.
We did a 5 hour tour of Nara with Toichi. He took us to several of the top sights - Todaji Temple, Isuien Garden, Kofukuji Temple and the top of the Nara Prefecture building. We finished the tour with a sake tasting.
Dear Larry, Thanks very much for taking a time to write a review. Hope you and Becky are having a good time in Kobe. Hope the rest of your trip in Japan and in South Korea will be wonderful and I hope you will return to California with some good memories. all the best, Ichi
I booked Ichi for 3 days tour for me, my husband and my 21 months old baby. He was great at creating an amazing itinerary based on what we wanted to visit, also he found vegan restaurants for us and the best part was the he was flexible and was able to change things as we went on with the kid.
Dear Larisa, Thank you very much for taking your time to write a review. Hope you had a wonderful time in Beijing as well and your husband had found enough good foods to eat there. Good luck to your life back in Southern California, and I wish this world would be able to give your adorable son a great future, too.
We consider ourselves so fortunate to have had 3 days with Toichi in Kyoto and Nara. The most organized tour guide I think we have ever had ( and I consider ourselves to be some of the most well travelled people in the world) Toichi communicated with us prior to our arrival and even dropped off helpful materials at our hotel before we arrived. He planned an amazing 3 days for us in Kyoto and Nara, including some “hidden gems” completely u def the radar. Even in the midst of Platinum Week, he kept us away from the crowds and we covered more ground and saw more of these beautiful cities than I could have imagined. He knows every inch of the city and took us to the very best places. No request was too difficult or unreasonable- he found us the best option for each and every request. He did e... read more
Dear Susan, Thank you very very much for your overwhelming comments. I had a fabulous and interesting time with you and your son for the last three days, too. You were open and energetic from the start and easy to have fun and joke with. If you enjoyed the tour with me, the half of the success comes from you and your son. It is the chemistry of the clients and the guide which brings the outcome. Thank you very much for walking a long distance with me without complaining and putting up with my sometimes unsophisticated jokes. Hope you had a great soak at the Arima Hot Spring and have a wonderful day at Himeji Castle today. Love, Ichi
He is a very nice person and he speaks English fluently and you can understand every word. His companion is very friendly and you feel with him like you feel with your own friends. He knows how to reach to all the important points of interest without making any mistakes and he has a comprehensive knowledge about every point of interest. If he is available, don't hesitate and book immediately. Highly recommended!!!!
Dear Micha, Thank you very much for your comments. I had a wonderful day with you and your friends. Hope you have a wonderful life.
Toichi is an exemplary guide. He took us through arishyama and other parts of Kyoto, with extensive knowledge. Conversation was easy and understandable. He is a true scholar of Japan and has an excellent sense of humor! I give him my highest recommendation without qualifications
Hi Joel, Thanks for a great review. We ended up completely different from what we originally planned, but I’m glad you and Karen had a good day today. Hope the rest of your trip in Japan will be wonderful, too!
Ichi was so attentive and made my family feel so very cared for. He listened to what we wanted to do and then made our dreams come true. He was fantastic. We highly recommend Ichi!!
Hello Miracle, Thanks very much for your wonderful review. I was happy to be able to take part in making your son’s dream come true. I hope he would be able to return to Japan in the future! It was also great to meet you and your lovely parents. With the special name you have, I would never forget you, and I hope all the miracles you wish for in your life would come true some day! All the best, Ichi
I am a travel agent who was asked by my clients to get them a private guide for Kyoto. I had no personal knowledge of Kyoto guides and my usual destination guides were horribly expensive and perhaps not great either! I read Toichi's "profile" and decided he sounded like a good choice. What a treasure! I've heard from my clients at the end of their first day with him and they said he was great! The second day was also terrific. From my end, I liked him because he responded to anything I asked him (or told him about) almost instantly and always with what I could tell was good advice. From his written notes, he sounded as though he had a nice sense of humor and knowledge of the Kyoto area.
Dear Carol, Thank you very much for your review. I had a good time talking and getting to know Laurie and Bob during our two days in Kyoto. They told me great things about you, too! I hope they will be in OK in Nara and in Himeji on their own today and tomorrow. Thank you for choosing me.
Friendly, funny, engaging, knowledgeable
Buenos dias, Victor. Gracias por your review. Hope the rest of your trip will be great and more than anything, have a great life. Adios. !Nos vemos de nuevo! Ichi
I booked tours with Toichi for 5 days while I was staying in Osaka and was so happy I hired him as my guide. He's very conversational in English, so communicating with him was always easy. His service was beyond exceptional and he went out of his way to meet any of my needs. He's funny and full of energy and really adds to your experience of Japan. Don't over-look Osaka when you're selecting cities in Japan to tour. His home city is full of wonderful sites and he really loves guiding people around town.
Dear Don, Thanks very much for your overwhelming comments on my tour. Yes, it was 5 days I would never forget until I die. Especially your karaoke singing and cherry blossom viewing on rainy night still make me smile. Hope you will continue to enjoy your adventure around the globe.
Toichi is so thoughtful in helping prepare for your excursion. I messaged him quite a bit to make sure we would do all of the things we needed to see. Seeing the cherry blossoms was very important and he kept me posted on if they would be in bloom. He was flexible with schedule changes and even arranged dinner reservations. I highly recommend Toichi.
Dear Lisa, Thank you very much for your thoughtful review. I too did enjoyed the day. Especially Sarah kept me laughing and made my day! I feel sorry I couldn’t take them to Monkey Mountain in Arashiyama because it started raining just before we were getting there. Kids would had had enjoyed it very much. Hope the rest of the family’s trip will be as wonderful. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to work with you.
Wow - if I can rate Toichi 1-10, he would be 11. Our family; my wife and two teenage girls had so much fun learning about Japan and visiting so many sites with Toichi. He first met us at our hotel exactly on time, with a huge smile and promptly taught the girls how to count in Japanese. He then sat with us to discuss our plans for the day and made sure that we included all of the "last minute" sites we had thought about on our plane ride over from New York. What makes Toichi such an excellent guide is that he great awareness of his clients interests and knows when to spend more or less time at a site, when to take a break, and how to keep everyone engaged throughout the day - not a small task when traveling with teenagers. As proof, my daughters didn't look at their iphones one time... read more
Thank you very very much for your overwhelming comments, Jon. I don’t know how to live up to it from now! I must say credits go to your family, too. I had a lovely time with you. You were very interested in what I said from the start and easy and interesting to be with. Especially, I was very moved by your and Erin’s comments to Abby and Alex over okonomiyaki dinner. I too sincerely hoped that this sometimes gloomy world would be able to ptovide your two lovely daughters with the fulfilling life worth living. Have fun for the rest of your trip in Japan and more than anything, have an exciting, adventurous life. I will remember you and your family for the rest of my lifetime, too!
The perfect tour guide for our visit to Osaka! Toishi's enthusiasm and energy, combined with his absolute fluency in English and command of history, was ideal. Our family of 5 agreed that he was the best guide we have had in years!!!
Dear Colette, Thanks very much for your wonderful review. Hope you have a great time in Kyoto. Wishing you and your family the very best of everything for 2019!
My family travelled through Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, with guides at every city. We were so lucky to meet Ichi-San on our last day. He studied in the US and UK so his English is very good- and also is a licensed guide who really is very knowledgeable about the city. Many of our other guides had a more limited level of knowledge- not sure if that is because there was a language barrier or they did not know the answers to our question, but Ichi had a deep knowledge of the culture and traditions of the region while keeping a modern and funny perspective of things. He pointed out all the typical touristy sights but also took us of the beaten path and showed us a glimpse of spots that locals enjoy. He has a very funny, dry sense of humor that made the city come alive in his descriptions. Between... read more
Hello Susan, Thank you very much for taking a time to write a long review. I wish if I could have spent more time with you and your lovely nephews. Hope you have a great time at your next destinations. Wishing you a very happy new year to come, too!
Half day tour in Kobe, Japan Nov 12, 2018. Toichi took us to a sake brewery for a wonderful tour, then on the metro (and he showed us how we could use it for our next day in Kobe on our own). He took us to china town and a large upscale department store with a rather incredible food court on the basement level and to a german bar/restaurant for a beer (our request). We also went to a tall building with a view of the entire city. He explained the history of Japan and various customs and language and was very knowledgeable. He is a very nice man and a great guide. Price was reasonable for services provided. Highly recommended.
Dear Jim, Thank you very much for taking a time to write a review. I was not totally sure if I was able to provide you with services you expected as I was not too knowledgeable of Kobe as much as Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. I hope you and your wife had a good time in Japan and you went back with some good memories. Best regards, Toichi
I contacted Toichi for 2 tours in Nara and Osaka for a small group of travellers. The services provided were excellent and Toichi is a very knowledgeable and friendly person. He brought materials with information for everybody. And was very attentive at the group. And he had his guide sign as a small frog which helped us because it was visible in the crowds. He helped us and explained the difference of dry sake, cold and hot sake, plum wine (another form of sake). And as a very big plus he speaks english very well. I highly recomend him if you want to have a memorable trip in Japan. Thank you!
Thank you very much for taking a time to write a review. Even though I always try to do the best as I can, I sometimes don’t know what I do is good enough to make your trip in Jopan as interesting and memorable. So your extremely kind comments make me assure I am doing the right thing. I used to travel a lot usually on my own, but I realize it is quite difficult to get to know the place and people within a short period of time. But I do hope I was able to provide you with some understandings of Japanese cultures and people through me. Hopefully you will go back to your country with some good memories of Japan which you can recall in 10 years time! Multumesc and Good Luck!
Toichi went above and beyond. He contacted me several times leading up to the days we spent with him. I have a food allergy. He went out to restaurants ahead of time to locate businesses that could accommodate my special needs. He even sent me pictures of some of the dishes offered. We had a change of heart on our first day, and decided to go to an entirely different part of Kyoto. He was totally supportive of our change of heart and we had a great day. He taught us Japanese words, gave us historical background, taught us about everyday life in Japan, and generally gave 100 percent to us during the time we were together. He offered information to us also about cities he knew we'd be visiting in the future. I highly recommend Toichi!
Dear Helen, Thank you very very much for your utmost comment. I am so flattered. I am always worried with the clients who have food restrictions, but I am glad it somehow worked out on the day. Hope you and your husband had a nice time for the rest of your trip in Japan, and I am happy you went back to your home safely. Now autumn leaves are in season. I was in Nara yesterday and I will guide the group of 12 people in Osaka today. Wish you would enjoy your retirement to the fullest. Do all the things you could not do when you were working. GOOD LUCK!
We had a lovely informative tour with Toichi. The day was very enjoyable and we learnt a lot about Japan. Thank you Toichi for a great tour and we highly recommend you as a guide.
Thank you very much for taking a time to write a review, Heather. I was quite impressed that we walked quite a lot and did a lot of thing s within our time together. Hope I was able to help you to understand Japan a bit, so you can enjoy the rest of your trip more. Have fun in Nara and Hiroshima and don’t hesitate to send me messages if you have any questions.
Our group of 4 had a wonderful time with Toichi. If you are looking for a guide with lots of energy, happy to share his knowledge of Japan, then Toichi is the perfect guide. He was easy to understand, answering all our questions, making any adjustments to our walk - adding a peek at an interesting alley, to see another shrine or temple or stroll a small hidden garden. And, he definitely knows where to eat! Another plus was the open communication with Toichi prior to our tour date. He took care of us from the time we booked the tour, until we said good-by and he sent us on our train back to Kyoto. Arigato, Toichi!
Dear Janet, Thank you very much for your wonderful review. I had a good time spending a day with you yesterday. In fact, I wished I spoke with you more if we had more time! Another place to go in Kyoto is Eikando Temple in the evening. The temple is starting the evening light-up of the garden from today between 5:30pm and 8:30pm. It is 5 mins north of Nanzenji Temple and the entrance fee is ¥600. I think you should just take a cab if you want to avoid long walking. (Though, Nanzenji Temple on the way is also nice, and you can check BIwako waterway and see how Kyoto people tried to bring water from Lake Biwa in the northeast.) Anyway, hope the rest of your trip in Japan will be wonderful. Please say hellos to Dennis, Brian and Donna and good luck! Toichi
Toichi is very professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and he takes great pride in his work. He was very flexible and quickly adapted our tour to various options he presented to us. Toichi is articulate and very easy to understand! He is well prepared and provided valuable information before, during and even after our tours were complete. There is no way that we could have possibly seen or learned so much, in such a short time, without him. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days together. We would highly reccommend him for a tour guide. Don't miss out, hire this man quickly!
Dear Bryan, Thank you very much for writing such a great review on tours we had in Osaka and Kyoto. I feel very flattered, but I did enjoy being with four of you. Hope you have another great day in Kobe today! Merci beaucoup. All the best, Toichi
I am so happy I had Toichi as my tour guide. As a person in the wheelchair I had much worry and concerns, especially about the accessibility access. Toichi did extraordinary work to prepare before I came. Knowing where the elevators were in the stations, asking a lot of questions, and he was willing to help to push my wheelchair all around, and so on. He is funny and very energetic. I recommend him as your tour guide. Thank you Toichi!
Dear Theresia, Thank you very much for the wonderful review. I was slightly worried because it was my first time to guide someone in wheelchair. But you were such a cooperative, positive person, it was lovely to spend a day with you. Hope the rest of your trip will be wonderful. Good luck!
Toichi was accommodating and fun. Best tour guide ever
Dear Maria, Thank you very much for the wonderful review!
We recently visited Kobe in Sept as one of the ports we visited on a cruise of Japan we were only in the port Kobe one day so to maximize our time we hired Toichi as our private guide to maximize our time to see the high points of Kobe which turned out to be a great investment , Toichi is a warm and generous person interesting well informed knowledgeable of Japan history Toichi will adapt the excursion depending on your time and what you want to see it was an easy and enjoyable day I highly recommend Toichi as a personal guide he is a funny person that is really easy to get along with.
Dear Albert, Thank you very much for your comments. I had a great time spending time with you in Kobe and Osaka. Hope you had a good time with the rest of your trip in Japan!
Toichi is witty, humorous, energetic, excited guide. He is an encyclopaedia on Japan and has exceptional story telling skills. His jokes are real funny. He knows Kyoto like back of his hand and knows nice nooks and corners which are not touristy. He is exceptional. He had kept all background info at the hotel before our arrival. He already had a word with the bus driver and worked out the plan. I cannot imagine Kyoto without Toichi. I wish we had more time with him. We were extended family of 9 persons and by the end of second day, he had become the 10th member.
Dear Sanjay, Thank you very much for your overwhelmingly favorable comments. In fact, I feel as if I do not know Kyoto as much as I should as I am from Osaka, but I am glad to hear that your family enjoyed your trip. One of the best moment I had was drinking six different kinds of sake with your daughter and talked about ‘life.’ Yes, she had a lot to say! Maybe next time you come, I can show you around Osaka, the city I was born and grew up.
Spending the day visiting Nara and Osaka from Kyoto with Toichi was one of the highlights of our trip. We started by feeding some cute deer, went to some amazing shrines and temples in Nara, had some delicious Okonomiyaki, visited Osaka castle and tried our hand at throwing stars, and ended with exploring the busy Osaka shopping streets! Throughout, Toichi was a great and knowledgeable guide. He was flexible with our schedule and very quick to adapt. He was also super thoughtful and wanted us to have the best experience possible, even leaving some guides and information at our hotel before we arrived in Kyoto. As an ex-Japanese and English teacher, he was also able to help with my basic Japanese language learning, and I had a fun impromptu lesson on the ride between Nara-Osaka! Overall an ... read more
Dear Nicholas, Thank you very much for your beautiful comments! I too enjoyed spending a day with you and Sarah. I particularly enjoyed reading a Japanese newspaper together on the train between Nara and Osaka. You were such a great patient learner, I seriously thought I could make you fluent in Japanese if we had a week together. Keep up with your study and good luck! Love, Toichi
Toichi was a great tour guide for us. We highly reccomend him for a personalized tour. He was helpful, informative, flexible and speaks very good English. He has great communication with his clients before, during and after the tour.
Thanks very much for the wonderful review, Valeria. Hope you had a great cruise around Japan afterwards. Please say hello to your lovely husband Jim.
My husband and I took a cruise around Japan and we decided the ships tour would not suit our interests in Kyoto. Toichi met us at our ship in Kobe, then we took the train and metro to Kyoto. He provided a perfect day of seeing the sites on our agenda as well as some he recommended. We went to a beautiful zen garden that I am sure no group tour would include. He recommended a great restaurant , again not a tourist spot. Toichi was fun, informative, and has fantastic English so we had no communication concerns. With only 1 day in Kyoto, hiring Toichi was a very efficient way to see a lot in one day, without the hassle of figuring out the train system, or having the huge expense of a ships excursion. We even made at stop in Gion district and he knew the best spots for Geisha siting. ... read more
Dear Jim and Marilyn, Thank you very much for your lovely comments! Your comments make me believe that I am in the right profession! To be honest with you, as I am not from Kyoto, I am not necessarily knowlegable about the city. So, whenever I guide my guests in Kyoto, I am not totally confident. Therefore, you comments are very helpful to me and I feel I need to know the city more! If you ever have another chance to visit Kansai region in the future, please find me again. I would love to show you Osaka, a unique, vibrant city I was born and grew up in. Thank you for finding me again.
Toichi was very easy to deal with over the e-mail as he planned our walk. I suggested what we would like to see and Toichi used this as the basis of his suggested walk, as well as suggesting his own ideas taking in to account the number of hours available and our age (we are both 74). As we came out of immigration he was waiting for us - the very entertaining day had started.. Nothing was too much trouble and he even showed my wife where a particular shop was located and helped her as she bought certain items. We visited cherry blossom near the mint, the castle, Dotonbori area and had lunch in a non- tourist Japanese restaurant, couldn't have asked for more. He then escorted us back to our cruise ship and waited until we boarded. I highly recommend Toichi as a guide.
Dear Geoff, Thank you very much for your lovely comments. i couldn't have had asked you a better comment! Hope the rest of your cruise will be as exciting, and you and Maureen have a wonderful life together. And happy, happy birthday to you again.
Toichi was an excellent guide and I really enjoyed the tour. He went above and beyond by making sure we got tickets to the National Bunraku Theatre which I’ve always wanted to see. The places we visited were interesting and fun which is exactly what I needed. He knows a lot about Osaka and made me feel very welcome. I can’t recommend him enough!
Dear Cierwen, Thank you very much for your lovely comment on my tour. Very happy we managed to get tickets for bunkaku on its first day in their spring season! Also glad you were able to get all the souveniors for your folks and friends. Hope your mum liked that book on bunraku theatre!
Our experience with Toichi was excellent. From the thorough research of our interests before we arrived, to his constant energy with us during the trip. His perspective on Japanese culture was insightful and we really enjoyed his outgoing personality. I've not come across many guides who prepares for the next day of the tour quite like Toichi and will highly recommend him as a guide.
Dear Nabeel, Thank you very much for such kind words. As I usually mainly deal with individual tourists and a small group, I was slightly worried about the size of the group, but I am glad we managed to go through without any major problems. Hope everyone in the group went back home in UK with some good memories of Japan, and please find me if you come back to Japan again in the future. Dohmo arigatoh gozaimashita. Best regards, Toichi
I definitely would recommend Toichi. He guided our family of 3 around Osaka, showing us hidden gems around town. He was friendly and personable, and tailored our itinerary to suit our specific needs - adjusting throughout the day. He showed us a lot of things that we could never have found on our own. He took the extra time to tell us the stories behind things and even brought visual aids to better explain the history of the area. When we were tired and stopped for a rest, he told us a story to help us learn the Japanese numbers 1-100. He is a great guide and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
Dear Carolyn, Thank you very very much for your kind words. I too enjoyed every minute of our time together in Osaka. Hope you and your family had a wonderful time in Kyoto, and then back in Tokyo with your another son. The next time you'll be in Osaka, you'll learn one hundered one to one thousand in Japanese, so make sure to maseter one to hundered by heart by then! (In fact, you should literally be able to say one to nine hundred ninety nine now, and 1,000 in Japanese is sen!) Bon voyage. With Love from Toichi in Osaka
We had two fabulous days touring Osaka and Nara with Toichi. He was fun and knowledgeable about both cities. He was very concerned about understanding what we wanted to see and experience and went out of his way to exceed our expectations. He even delivered pamphlets and other information to the hotel we were staying in a few days before our tour so that we had time to look at the information. He also stayed way over his time so that we could do everything on our list. He was truly amazing. His English is great so it made communication very easy for us. I really can't say enough good things about Toichi. If you have an opportunity to book a tour with him, jump at the chance. You won't be disappointed! He's fantastic!
Dear Leslie, Thank you very much for the fabulous comments you have written for me! It was truely a joy for me to have been able to meet you and guide you as you were such a lovely family with. I hope Lauren has found a ring for her future lucky husband, and Brook was able to pack all the things she has purchased in her suitcase. And your patient Han Solo will keep you smiling for the rest of your life. By the way, the meditation center I have been in Kyoto is called Vipassana. You should be able to find a lot of information on the web if you are interested. Thank you also for the English lessons you have given me. I shall practice 'l' and 'r' and will try to differenciate 'er,''or' and 'ar.' After all, English is not an easy language for me! Hope you can return to Japan i... read more
We had so much fun with Toichi! He was full of knowledge and very personable. He was prepared and put together a packet the night before so we would have a better understanding of our tour. He kept the tour moving and our group smiling. Toichi was very good at relating events and teaching us. He even helped us out with other items and needs related to our stay since we don't speak Japanese. We hope to use Toichi again for future tours in Japan next time we are there. We highly recommend Toichi!
Dear Ehrin and Tiffany, Thank you very much for your lovely comments. In fact, I also had a great time being with you as you were such a great couple to be with. I wish we were able to spend more time together. Please do look for me when you visit Kansai area again in the future❣️ warmest regards, Toichi on my way back from Hiroshima
Very good guide in Osaka!!!
Thank you for your comments,Mauricio. Hope your trip has been going well. Have a Happy New Year!
Toichi picked us up in our Namba hotel at 10 am & took a train ride to Kyoto. I'm really glad we hired him because unlike our 1st trip to Kyoto 2015, we kind of wandered around the city on our own & didn't see much. Aside from his surprisingly great english skills being western educated, knowledge of Japan's history, both friendly & accomodating; with Toichi, we got to see the major attractions like the Inari Shrine, Hojo Rock Garden, Isuien Garden, experienced a traditional Kyoto lunch, saw the ongoing Yayaoi Kusama art exhibit, Gion-geisha town, Imperial Palace and at 4 pm headed off to Bamboo Grove in Arashimaya. Dear Cristina, Thank you very much for your lovely comment. It was a pleasure to guide you and I had a lovely time myself. Thanks for fining me through TripleLights, and I hope to see you again soon!
Toichi was a very accommodating tour guide. We wanted a personalized and relaxed tour, and he made sure we were able to achieve that. Although it was raining hard when we went out with him, he was still able to make the day extremely enjoyable. From planning the tour, to the end of the tour, Toichi was such a gentleman. Highly recommended!
Thank you very much for the lovely comments. It was wonderful meeting you and spending a day even though it was raining badly. In fact. I was worried the typhoon will hit us, but glad you managed to have a great day. Now another typhoon is approaching this weekend! Hope the rest of your trip was, a good one, too.
On my first visit to Osaka, my guide Toichi provided excellent insight as well as knowledge only savvy locals would know. He gave me historical background information that made the city come alive. He took me to tiny alleyways with excellent restaurants and we also visited a water god shrine that was not in my guide book! He also explained in a very interesting manner about the various customs and cultural aspects of both traditional and contemporary Osaka. He is incredibly knowledgeable and speaks excellent British English. I would definitely ask him to be my guide again! Thank you, Toichi!
Dear Nemo, Thank you very much for your lovely comments. I enjoyed spending time with you very much. As you've experienced, Osaka is a funny place with a lot of energy and character. I hope you can come back again in the near future and explore other parts of Osaka and Kansai regions. Thanks again for taking a time to write your comments and see you soon!
