Hello, I'm Yuichi, an English tour guide in Hokuriku region.
If you are thinking about traveling to historical places
such as Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go and Takayama, I am willing to offer a tour.
I can bring you to those popular destinations
from my base, Toyama city.
These are the examples of my tour:
Kanazawa - Shirakawago - Takayama
Takaoka - Gokayama - Shirakawago - Takayama
Toyama - Tateyama Kurobe Alipne Route - Omachi (Nagano Pref.)
During the tour I like to provide simple explanations about Japanese history,
and small tips for using the Japanese language on your request.
My interests are food, cooking, sake and wine
as well as Japanese novels and movies.
It would be possible to add those tastes to our tour
including a visit to local wineries, movie scenes, etc...
Finally, I will do my best to give you a pleasant stay.
Looking forward to seeing you in Hokuriku!

Hi Daniel. I'm delighted to hear from you again and appreciate your warmest compliment. I was so pleased that I could introduce traditional Japanese culture in Kanazawa and Takayama. And I also enjoyed learning your culture and customs from you, which was great opportunity to me. I hope to see you again in your country. Best Wishes, Daniel and please say hello to jennie and solly.
We very much liked the tutorial on how to behave in a Shinto shrine. But after that visit, there was very little exchange of information about the places we visited. Nothing said about the Higashiyama Higashi Chaya District. Our guide was more there to help us find the places than tell us about them. The choice of restaurant and the location was very poor. The restaurant was not researched and no reservation was made. We were surprised that the guide did not pick Higashiyama Higashi Chaya District for lunch instead of a fast food place downtown. Poor planning of itinerary.
Dear Dipika, First of all, I would like thank you for joining my tour and for your warm compliment to my tutorial in Shinto shrine. But after that, unfortunately the oden restaurant I scheduled to go with your group was not open though it said it was on the internet. I had to seriously think about your preferences and special requests on meal. So I really apologize for the inconvenience that happend near Nagamachi area and I will make the most of your review into future good services. Thank you again for your indication.
Yuichi helped us navigate a driving trip through the Gifu Perfecture visiting the historic towns of Nanto, Takayama and Hida. Yuichi our a lot of effort into the day and made it special for us.
Thank you for joining my tour. Driving all the way from Kanazawa to Hida region must've been a fantastic experience for you. From the World Heritage site of Suganuma (Nanto) village to Hida Furukawa, there are a variety of historical aspects of Japanese village to learn. Hokuriku and Hida region has more for you to explore, so if you have a chance to visit this area again, do not hesitate to contact me again for more nature wonders and adventures!!
Yuichi was terrific. He knew where to take us and the background for each venue. Pleasure to spend time and do what we wanted as he was very flexible to tailor the trip our needs. Also, he felt he did not spend the hours we booked 1 day, and returned some of his fees. I did not know about it or want any funds returned, however he insisted on refunding the money. Very honest!!!!
Thank you for joining my tour, ED-san. Our tour was so dynamic experience, moving all the way from Tsumago post town to Takayama and Kanazawa. Each of them has totally different cultural features and backgrounds where we could learn a lot. 8-hour tour in Takayama (Apr.28) must have been too much for us and I think after all we made a good decision for your relaxing time in Wanosato. I was very happy to hear you could enjoy hot spring bathing many times!! If you have a chance, see you in Toyama again for authentic food and onsen springs :)
Yoichi is an excellent guide. He is very considered to please your needs and goes out of his way to make your journey a life time experience rain or snow we managed to see the UNESCO Site villages after dark. I stayed at Ogawa Hotel with open air hot springs in the snow which is more than 1 hour out of the way for Yuichi. I had a most pleasant time and met his lovely wife as well. If they are representative of what people are like in Japan, then I love Japan and it's people. Nico. South Africa.
Thank you Nico-san. My wife and I appreciate very much for your warmest comment. Even though it was raining in UNESCO sites, I was glad you could see snow covered “gassho” houses which were a key element for your journey. Even after Toyama, I hope you to have a wonderful journey afterward and see more nice people in Japan. However, we still have one more day for our tour. Just please make sure not to miss your possible good experience in Toyama city! Yuichi
