Hello, I'm Yuichi, an English tour guide in Hokuriku region.
If you are thinking about traveling to historical places
such as Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go and Takayama, I am willing to offer a tour.
I can bring you to those popular destinations
from my base, Toyama city.
These are the examples of my tour:
Kanazawa - Shirakawago - Takayama
Takaoka - Gokayama - Shirakawago - Takayama
Toyama - Tateyama Kurobe Alipne Route - Omachi (Nagano Pref.)
During the tour I like to provide simple explanations about Japanese history,
and small tips for using the Japanese language on your request.
My interests are food, cooking, sake and wine
as well as Japanese novels and movies.
It would be possible to add those tastes to our tour
including a visit to local wineries, movie scenes, etc...
Finally, I will do my best to give you a pleasant stay.
Looking forward to seeing you in Hokuriku!

Yoichi is an excellent guide. He is very considered to please your needs and goes out of his way to make your journey a life time experience rain or snow we managed to see the UNESCO Site villages after dark. I stayed at Ogawa Hotel with open air hot springs in the snow which is more than 1 hour out of the way for Yuichi. I had a most pleasant time and met his lovely wife as well. If they are representative of what people are like in Japan, then I love Japan and it's people. Nico. South Africa.
Thank you Nico-san. My wife and I appreciate very much for your warmest comment. Even though it was raining in UNESCO sites, I was glad you could see snow covered “gassho” houses which were a key element for your journey. Even after Toyama, I hope you to have a wonderful journey afterward and see more nice people in Japan. However, we still have one more day for our tour. Just please make sure not to miss your possible good experience in Toyama city! Yuichi
Awesome tour guide! Took us to Shirakawago and Takaoka. First time for our group to have a tour guide and we enjoyed every minute. Attentive to our religious background, foods, and etc. Our group loved sushi at Takaoka. FYI- If you go to Shirakawago, make sure to have lots of 100 yen coins with you. Some of the places at shirakawago charges entrance fee which ranges from 200-400 yen. The bus which takes you up to the observation point was 200 yen I think. Our group had fun!
Thank you very much for your great compliment! Although Michlin-rated sushi shop was not open, I was happy you had a very good chance to eat tasty sushi in Toyama prefecture. YES, I definitely agree to your idea to make many JPY coins before coming to Hokuriku region, because many restaurants and facilities do not accept credit cards. Anyhow, It was an honor I could meet your group. Best Wishes!
We had an excellent tour with Yuichi, who is knowledgeable, personable and fluent in English. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your compliment, Henry. I will keep on brushing up my guiding to make you more satisfied with your experience in Japan. I appreciate your continuous support.
We had a very good tour with useful information explaining history and pointing out features such as house design. We focused on geisha and samurai districts and the market. We all had lunch in a market restuarant and enjoyed local specialities. It was so much easier touring with a guide so we didn't waste time navigating and could fully enjoy the sights. Worth coming back to this area and getting more guided help to fully as appreciate the sights and food.
I appreciate your warmest comment, Peta. It really encourages me to make and conduct better tours. I definitely would like you to see other areas in Hokuriku region as well as Kanazawa. If you have time to explore the region again, please do not hesitate to ask me to guide you. I will always welcome your visit whichever you may choose, city walk, highland excursion, etc and make every effort to provide better navigation and explanation. Thank you again for contact me and have a wonderful stay for the rest of your holidays. Yuichi
We had a very good time with Yuichi visiting Kanazawa while our ship had a stop there. When we arrived, Yuichi was waiting for us at the agreed meeting point. His English was excellent. Since we had limited time to visit, we were happy to have a very well organized guide with us. The tour was well managed and we got to see what was in our program for the day. We enjoyed every place we visited. Yuichi is very knowledgeable.
Thank you very much, Richard. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed the tour in Kanazawa. I was also able to enjoy guiding you and your wonderful family members. If you have another chance to visit Kanazawa and other Hokuriku areas, do not hesitate to ask me for arranging your tour. With best regards to you all.
