My wife and 3 year old boy were treated to a highlights tour of Kyoto, communication was prompt even if we book less than 24 hours before, Hiro-san was very knowledgeable and was prompt, he managed to accomodate our requests like changing the itinerary and changing our Shinkansen tickets. He also gave us options for transport and food. He was kind hearted and our son adored him.
My wife and I were so happy to have Hiroshi as a guide. We learnt so much. He knew so much detail. We had a really fun day.
Hiroshi was an awesome guide. He was very knowledgeable and made our tour really interesting. He went over and above - and helped us with taking photos and obtaining transport cards and our dietary allergies, and many other pieces of information which made travelling in Japan so much easier. It was a pleasure to spend the day with this wonderful man!
Hiroshi was AMAZING! We have used tour guides all over the world and Hiroshi was our FAVORITE hands down. He gives you the history and is so naturally funny that you laugh all day!
Hiro(shi) really knows his town, the sites to see, how to get there efficiently, and everything you want to know about them. We had an amazing day in spite of issues with public transportation. Would definitely recommend using Hiro to give you a tour in Kyoto!
Dear Jack Thank you Jack for your great reviews both on Oct 19and 20 tour in Kyoto.I also had a happy days guiding such a great person who has a deep knowledge and concern about Japanese culture and history and---has a sense of humor as well. Best regards Oct 27 Hiroshi Y.
Tour layout and plan: We did our own planning and Hiroshi was very cooperative in the process. English understanding and speaking:3.5/5 Knowledge of culture and history: 4/5 Customer service: I could not spk with Hiroshi because of the useless policy of Tripplelight. Unlike other guide services, you can only contact them thru email, which increases the time to deliver and receive messages very long. Overall rating:5/5
Dear Jehanzeb Thank you Jehanzeb for your compliment on Oct 11 half a day tour in Kyoto. I was impressed with your understanding of Japanese culture and religion, esp Buddhism and Shintoism. Best regards Oct 27 Hiroshi Y.

Hiroshi san was at the hotel well before the agreed time. We started by 7 am and he stayed well past the agreed time. In the interim his knowledge of the city and history kept us enthralled. Also the connection between India's and Japan's culture was detailed and we were happy to know he knew afair bit about India too!!! Thank you Mr.Hiroshi san for a wonderful trip and the wonderful souvenir that followed the trip...very thoughtful... Dilip
Dear Dilip I am grateful to you for your heartfelt reviews on one day long trip in Kyoto. you take a walking in bamboo forest in early morning around 7:40 am, that's a good choice because all of you including me really enjoyed walking in the quiet and calm bamboo path to the lotus pond area, where always crowded with so many tourists. I was so pleased to see that you were excited to watch on as many as 1001 buddha statues in Sanjyu-sangendo temple. Best regards Oct 9 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi is an excellent guide who can cater for groups of all ages. He is flexible to the group needs and provides invaluable experiences on all parts of the city that would otherwise take tourists significant more time to achieve. I highly recommend Hiroshi for his knowledge, friendliness and insights to tourists. Fantastic and well worth it. Regards Kylie
My husband and I spent our first day in Kyoto visiting 4 spectacular sites as well as a visit to the Gion district with Hiroshi. We would not have been able to navigate through the city so efficiently without his expertise. Hiroshi was professional yet fun and engaging. Thank you for a great day Hiroshi and your kind gift of chocolate yatshashi.
Dear Linda Thank you for your great reviews on Sep 21 tour in Kyoto. I showed you four must -see sites and a tea ceremony experience house and two Geisya towns in Gion. I enjoyed guiding such a knowledgeable person concerning Japanese culture and history like you both in Kyoto or called the capital of Japan for 1000years ! Best regards Sep 28 Hiroshi (hiro) Y.
Hiroshi picked us up from our hotel to start our tour. He was extremely energetic and you could not see anymore in one day if you tried. He was very knowledgeable an went out of his way to make sure you could capture good pictures. He even bought us a treat!
Hiroshi-san is an extremely warm and nice person. He guided us through Kyoto which was an excellent tour. With the summer sun, he was patient with us and also was very accommodating. We had a good chat on various cultural similarities and was a good experience He is highly energetic and is wonderful !
Dear Rohit I am grateful to you for your great reviews on Sep 8 tour in Kyoto. That 's a happy morment for tour guide like me. I am proud of our culture, history and tradition. Best regards Sep 16 Hiroshi Y.
Despite the crazy rain, humidity, and heat, Hiroshi kept the tour amusing and enjoyable. He was knowledgeable and had interesting anecdotes regarding historical figures and sites. He went above and beyond by escorting us to get reserved seats on the return shinkansen and walked us to the departure point.
Dear Carol Thank you for your great reviews on Sep 11, one day tour in Kyoto. I am glad to hear that you and your husband had an enjoyable tour in Kyoto. I hope that you and all of your family members would visit at Kyoto again in a very near future. Best regards Sep 16 Hiroshi Y.
Very professional guide
I thoroughly enjoyed our time with Hiro, he was very accommodating to our needs. We had to switch up our itinerary and he was happy to go with the changes. He is a true gentleman and nothing was no much trouble for him. I would highly recommend Hiro as a tour guide.
Hiroshi is very accommodating. He is very well prepared and informed..He is so nice even though its super hot. We have so very little time un Kyoto but we will surely come back and we will again ask HIROSHI to guide us and I will recommend him also to all my friends who will go to KYOTO😍Thank you so much HIROSHI SaN
We spent a full day with Hiroshi going to the major sites across Kyoto. He was very efficient in sending information on where to meet etc. We used public transit and he always used the most efficient connections. Hiroshi had interesting stories and facts besides usual history for each place that we visited. He very sweetly offered to take pictures of the family at every spot, and patiently answered all our questions. It was a very hot and humid day and we unfortunately chose to end our tour a little early, but it was amazing to see the level of energy and enthusiasm that Hiroshi-San had all through. We would definitely recommend him to all who want enjoy Kyoto with a local feel. Thank you for a lovely day.
Hiroshi accommodated our requests for particular destinations and we covered an impressive amount of ground in a single day. His English vocabulary is expansive and he had a lot of information about the sites and areas we visited. He did miss a few questions, and his walking pace was sometimes a challenge to keep up with, but overall was attentive and responsive. He also took photos for us and emailed them to us afterward, which was a nice touch. Overall a great value and a nice day exploring the city.
My family of six had many plans for sight seeing in Kyoto. The tough part was how to see all the sights in the limited amount of time. Hiro was the best. He took the time we had in Kyoto and personalized two trips (over two days) for us that worked with our time and took into consideration that we had JR passes. First day: Bamboo Forest, Monkey Park, and the Fushimi shrine. Hiro warned us that that would be a lot of walking. But he designed an itinerary for us. Nijo-jo Castle and the Golden Temple were seen the second day, and he dropped us off at the JR station as we requested. Hiro is full of energy, and he is very personable!
Our family of 4 had a great time touring Kyoto. Hiroshi was simply great. He explained all the details and history of all the spots he took us in Kyoto. Without him, I am sure we couldn't even seen half of the places we would intended to see. He knows Kyoto in and out as he was a native of this town. His knowledge about all the tourist spot and attractions was very evident - he knows this stuff for real. He was not worried about the time, as we took more time to get lunch, stopped at every souvenir shop. He was patient with us and gave us space and privacy when needed. He is very respectful. I guarantee you won't go wrong by hiring him as your tour guide. He's the best.
We had only 1,5 days in Kyoto and wanted to see a lot! We had a very big list of things to see. With excellent time management skills and knowledge of the area he guided us with ease! We were able to see not only main attraction but also some hidden gems of Kyoto. We would not be able to see all of it on our one! Thank you! Kindly, Jurgita
Dear Jurgita Thank you for your great reviews on July 14 and 15 tour in Kyoto. I was amazed when I got a request in which you asked me to visit at Adashino-nenbutsu dera temple in Arashiyama. You were the first couple of my guests who visited at Nen-butsu dera temple located in remote area in Arashiyama district. What amazed me most was that both of you seemed have an aesthtic sense of beauty to the temple's garden and the folkcraft. Best regards July 18 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi is a great guide!
Dear Zachary Thank you for your compliment on May 25 tour in Nara. They looked really enjoyed touring in Nara ,esp feeding deer crackers to many deer roaming around freely in Nara deer park. Best regards July 18 Hiroshi Y.

We loved Hiro! My college roommates and I did a trip to Kyoto together and last minute wanted to book a private tour. We got very lucky to have gotten Hiro to give us the tour. Hiro was very informative, funny, and fun to be around. He showed us all of the best temples and took us on a breathtaking walk along the Katsuraga River. Would definitely recommend and worth the money to learn about Kyoto’s amazing history.
Had a wonderful day with Hiro. He is knowledgeable and familiar with the places. Hiro is very kind, polite and friendly. He can talk to anyone! Highly recommended! Will definitely recommend him to our friends.

What a wonderful day trip with Hiro. He took my brother and I to the impressive temples of Kyoto, We navigated around the shops off of the temples, back into the city itself and observed the Geisha preparation hour. Really nice guide.
Dear Aidan Thank you for your great reviews on June 28 tour in Kyoto. An amazing quick response to pull together a full day tour for us at the 11th hour was definitely the first sign of how professional Hiroshi was. He was wonderful start to finish and extremely informative , knowledgeable and entertaining. The day spent with him was a pleasure and would definitely recommend him
Dear Tony I am grateful to you for your great reviews on June 12,one dat your in Kyoto. I feel so happy to know that my guests had a pleasant day trip in Kyoto. Best regards July 5 Hiroshi(hiro) Y.
We had a great time with Hiro seeing the wonderful sights around Kyoto. We met at the train station and started our trek to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, Sanjusangen-do Buddhist temple, Nishiki Market, Nijo-jo Castle, and the Golden Pavilion. It was all very beautiful and Hiro told us interesting facts every where we stopped and was very informative. It was a fast paced day and that helped us so many wonderful things in 8 hours. My daughters and niece really enjoyed Hiro’s teachings along the way and thought he was funny. He made the day interesting for all ages (teenager, young adults and mom). We would highly recommend booking a tour with Hiro!! I highly recommend having an IC card for transportation (we got ours during the tour and it made the transportation much easier) Thank you, H... read more

Dear David Thank you David for your great reviews on June 18, one day tour in Kyoto. I had a pleasant day with you because you showed me great concern and respect about Japanese culture and unique religion, which is so syncretic. Shintoism and Buddhism have lived in harmony for centuries. I think that you should try to drink Sake. Best regards July 18 Hiroshi Y.
Mr. Hiro is very accommodating. He has a unique way of giving information like trivia questions. He has good knowledge of the places of interests. He has a great sense of humor too. He really took good care if me and my son. He even made sure we were in the right platform going back to osaka. A highlight of our trip is our visit to Gion. The Geisha villages were amazing and Mr. Hiro made sure we learned about their lives. We were fortunate to see several of them being fetched.
Dear Malou I am grateful to you for your great reviews of June 17 tour in Kyoto. You must have mysterious feeling while you are walking through countless Trii-gates at Fushimi-Inari Shrine. We had a one day tour organised by Hiroshi-san, we were very pleased that we were able to go to see all the places we wanted to see. Hiroshi-San is very funny and he made the tour a lot of fun and educational at the same time (make sure you prepare for a quiz 😀). I would highly recommend and will definitely take a tour with him again when we’re back in Japan!
Dear Indah I am grateful to you for your great reviews on June 6 one day tour in Kyoto. I feel happy to hear from that both of you had a pleasant tour in Kyoto. You walked so much in a day through the tour like starting from Fushimi-Inari Shrine,Nishiki-Market, bamboo forest walking in Arashiyama, Golden Pavilion and lastly at Gion area ! Best regards July 19 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi is a wonderful guide and a genuinely friendly person. We felt privileged at the end of our day to have met him. As for the Kyoto full day tour, he goes out of his way and really works very hard to allow his clients to see the sights and surrounds in detail, always happy to answer questions and allows time for numerous photographs. He is very knowledgeable and we learnt alot whilst on the tour and developed a true appreciation of Japanese history, culture and traditions. His a very patient gentleman so we never felt rushed. We had very specific dietary requirements and he made sure that we were shown several restaurants prior to us selecting one....his food recommendation was great incidently! Overall, we had a brilliant day out and I would highly recommend this gentleman as your gu... read more
Dear Yudash I am very grateful to you for your heartfelt reviews on June 15,one day tour in Kyoto. I felt so happy and proud of our cultural heritages such as Fushimi-Inari Shrine ,Golden Pavilion temple and Tenryuji temple garden etc., when I got to see that both of you showed me great respect of Japanese culture and history. Best regards June 24 Hiroshi Y.
We planned that our second day in Kyoto would be about going to the different historical places the cultural capital is known for. Hence, we booked a tour guide who could speak English for the experience. However, we got more than what we bargained for - our guide Mr. Hiro made us laugh, let us know which tea houses were expensive without needing to check the Web, and see geishas and maikos hailing taxis for their nightly appointments. He is a fast walker however so please ready to keep in pace with him. When we come back to Japan, we will surely keep in touch with him again, not just a guide anymore but as a friend, too.
Dear Maria I am very grateful to you for your great reviews of June 3 one day tour in Kyoto. I felt so happy when I found that all of your family looked really enjoying the tour in Kyoto, which is the most charming city in Japan. Kyoto attracts not only Japanese people but also foreingn tourists as well. Sorry,I try to be a slow walking tour guide in next time guiding. Best regards June 9 Hiroshi Y.
Mr Hiro showed us that strength doesnt just come in physical aspect but also in spirit. He was patient and kind and even had time to make our kids feel special. A person with passion to explain history and update you with latest current events. We learned a lot from him today !! We are lucky to have chosen him as our guide.
Dear Helen I say, thank you for your great reviews on May 24 tour in Kyoto. One of the hapiest moments as a tour guide was all of your family look like really enjoy touring in several histolically important sites such as Fushimi-Inari Taisya, Golden Pavilion temple, Kiyomizudera temple and encounter with a Maiko-san walking in Gion district. Best regards May 29 Hiroshi Y.
My husband and I enjoyed the two days we spent with "Hiro." Hiro was very efficient, and showed us so many amazing places all around Kyoto and Nara. We covered more ground than we did with any other guide on our trip. We loved that Hiro carried his DSLR camera around - he took pictures for us and has promised to email them. For the price, you cannot go wrong with booking Hiro. He was very enjoyable to be around and knowledgeable about the sites he showed us. Thanks Hiro!!!!
Dear Ann I am grateful to you for your great reviews on May 15 and 16 tour in Kansai area. I am glad to hear from that you and your husband had a pleasant two days tour in Kyoto and Nara and enjoy looking at pictures which I sent the other day. Best regards May 29 Hiroshi (hiro) Y.
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Hiroshi in Kyoto. He was extremely patient with my endless shopping and very accommodating when we kept changing the planned itinerary. He is very knowledgeable about Kyoto and its history. In response to our love of art, he took us to museums, craft centres and the house of a multi talented artist Kawai Kanjiro. We went to Nijyo castle, the Hihashiyama district, Gion, Philosopher's Walk, Zen gardens at Daitokji temple, Arashiyama and many more. Hiro was very responsive to our needs and also accommodated our dietary requirements. He has a great sense of humour and we recommend him as guide in Kyoto.
Dear Annelize Thank you for your great compliments on May 10,11,12 and 13, four days tour in Kyoto. I felt so happy to find that you have a great interest about Japanese culture and arts such as woodblock prints, ceramic wares and paintings of Jaku-chyu and Zen style gardens as well. Best regards May 29 Hiroshi (hiro)
The tour and visit of Osaka was very interesting and enjoyable. Hire was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He even has games for our kids. Very good with families with kids
Dear FAITH Thank you for your compliment on May 7 tour in Osaka. I wish there had been more time on that day. If you had at least one hour more, all of your family members also had enjoyed visiting at Osaka Sky Garden in Umeda Sky Building. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi is a very energetic guide who took us to many places in two short days. We asked for some locations that were not on the typical tour list and he was happy to accomodate us. He has a nice sense of humor and seems to really enjoy guiding people around his city. We were tired but happy at the end of the day.
Dear Margaret I say thank you for your great reviews for Ap 29 and 30,two days tour in Kyoto. All of you visited a wide variety of sites such as Sanjyu- sangendo temple, Higashi-Honganji temple, Nijyojyo castle ,Arashiyama bamboo forest and Fushimi-Inari Shrine, where you climbed up to the middle of the Mt.Inari ! and lastly visited at Gion district. I hope that all of you had pleasant trip in Kyoto. Best regards May 16 Hiroshi Y.
Hiro is very particulate, precise and knowledgeable. We had an excellent introduction to major sides of Kyoto and its history. Enjoyed this toor. We are highly recommending Hiroshi to anyone who wants to explore Kyoto in a private setting and not with a big group.
Dear Leonid I appreciate your great reviews of May 1, one day tour in Kyoto. I was so amazed to find that both of you have a great physical strength and a great knowledge about Japanese culture as well. Best regards May 14 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi was really an excellent guide - he wanted to show us as many attractions in Kyoto as we could digest, at the end of the day we were amazed by his energy. He is very prepared, his knowledge about Kyoto and Japanese history is definitely profound.
Dear Erzsebet Thank you for your great reviews on May 5 tour. You took one of the best courses of the tour in Kyoto. I hope that you really enjoyed visiting these historically important sites. Best regards May 16 Hiroshi Y.
We covered a lot of grounds with Hiroshi, and the "surprise" temple he took us to was the most interesting of all the temples we saw in Japan - Sanjusangen-do. We have three teenagers and Hiroshi was great with giving them snippets of information (by way of quizzes and anecdotes) that hopefully they will remember long term. As we did everything on a whirlwind pace, there was not much time to go into the history of Japan in any depth, unfortunately. Thank you Hiroshi for a great day.
Dear Vivi Thank you for your great compliment on Ap 19 one day tour in Kyoto. All of you visited five famous sites in a day, like Nijyojyo castle, Kyoto Imperial palace,Sanjyu sangendo temple, Kiyomizudera temple, and walk through Sannei-saka to Ninensaka to Yasaka shrine and lastly Gion district. I should show you a bit less sites on that day. Best regards May 17 Hiroshi Y.
Hiro was very helpful and flexible with us! We change time and itinerary. We had lost a camera on our way to Kyoto and he help us to find it! He was very careful and had a lot to teach us. :) Thanks to Hiro and my best to him!
Dear Mila Thank you Mila for your great reviews on one day tour in Kyoto. I enjoyed guiding such a cheerful and intellectual tourist like you to several historical important sites in Kyoto. By the way, I got relieved to hear from with text message that you found your camera at your hotel room. Best regards May 2 Hiroshi Y.
Mercedes-Benz says : “The Best or Nothing” with which I agree. I also agree that Hiroshi is the Best. Hiroshi knows more than his way around Kyoto; he knows the history details that make the difference. For every site he’ll take you, he’ll know the extra details about the place, and will be eager to answer your questions. People around even listen and ask questions he gladly answers. He’s a good walker, and has a tendency to walk fast. If you think he walks too fast, keep walking at your own pace and he’ll gladly wait for you. With time he’ll adjust to your pace, and everything will go smoothly. Hire Hiroshi. This refined guide will take good care of you. Pierre
Dear Pierre I am very grateful to you for your great reviews on Ap 22 and 23 tour in Kyoto. I have to apologize to you for walking fastly without taking care of your waking pace ! I should walk slowly on each day trip. it's one of the bad habits while I am guiding my guests. I enjoyed guiding you because you always gave me excellent questions in terms of Japanese culture and history. Best regards Ap 29 Hiroshi Y.
Our day at Himeji went generally well, although we expected different travel conditions. To summarize: we could have traveled by bullet train to Himeji from Kyoto, but had to take a local train because paying for the guide's shinkansen ticket would have raised our costs by a lot. Traveling with the local train meant standing in a crowded car for one and a half hour - we surely didn't enjoy that - especially that our JR passes gave us a right to the best and fastest train train! We got to the Castle eventually and enjoyed it a lot, but found the guide less helpful with some of the questions asked. We felt that he wasn't offering sufficient information or that he wasn't putting in all the effort. We visited the Kokoen garden too and found that very nice. All in all I feel we could have easi... read more
Dear Ariana You made a complaint about the transportation cost from Kyoto to Himeji. I give you an oppsing argument . You can use the JR PASS in every JR line including Shinkansen Bullet Train except Nozomi, all of you can use the PASS on that day, of course. In this case, however you have to pay my Shinkensen ticket fee ( one way : 4750yen/adult, a round trip ticket=9500yen/adult) That 's why I asked you which train you would like to take to travel from Kyoto to Himeji such as a Shinkansen or an express? You replied on the spot " we take an express for Himeji" It's unfortunate that the express was so crowded so that you could not get your seat until the train passed over Osaka station, even though on Monday. Before we parting each other at Himeji Station,I asked your husband " May... read more
My boyfriend and I recently returned from a cruise to Japan. We had a stop in Osaka and we hired a guide to meet us at the port, bring us to Kyoto and back. We both really enjoyed our tour with Hiro, everything was so personalized and we really felt like Hiro was going above and beyond to meet our needs and expectations. Without a doubt, a huge highlight of our Japan trip. We will definitely visit Japan again and wont hesitate to book a tour with Hiro again.
Dear Lori I say thank you for your great reviews on March 23 one day tour in Kyoto. I have to apologize to you for displaying a small name board at the exit of the Osaka port terminal building. I should display more big sized name board and waiting for you at another exit of the building on that day. I got relieved that you were able to visit at Fushimi-Inari Shrine and Pokemon Center in Kyoto. I wish you had another two hours on that day ! Best regards Ap13 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi was fantastic , kept us on our toes and we saw so much more than expected. He explained things and talked about history and customs with a smile and joke along the way, thanks for a great day , would highly recommend was a great experience. 😀
Dear Gill Thank you Gill for your great reviews on Mar 28 one day tour in Kyoto. I always felt happy to watch that my guests looked like really enjoy visiting at some kind of historical important temples and shrines and beautiful gardens as well. I wish you had one hour more time during the tour. Best Ap13 Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi has brought us to the best tonkatsu restaurant we have been to. The walk going there was very tiring but it was all worth it! Until now, my husband and I still talk about it. Since we were weeks early for the sakura season and would not be able to see the city in full bloom, he suggested to go to a shrine which has 2 cherry blossom trees in full bloom! It was a very nice sight and we managed to take lots of photos since there were no tourists around. Hiroshi also agreed to start the tour at 7.30am which was a good decision because the Bamboo Forest was not crowded when we arrived there. Overall, we had a jam-packed but fulfulling day with him.
Dear Ciselle I am grateful to you for your great reviews on March 21 one day tour in Kyoto. I am glad to hear that all of your family members enjoyed walking through in Bamboo forest ,where was less crowded than in the day time on that day. It's an excellent choice of the time that you made. I also felt happy that all of you were able to watch two in full blossom cherry trees in Sanjyu-Sangendo temple. Best regards Ap 13 Hiroshi Y.
The Kyoto Highlights with Shiro San was an excellent choice for a private tour. He was supposed to meet us at the lobby of the hotel we stayed and he was on time. Although visiting five places in a day is a challenging itinerary, he managed the time appropriately and we did it at a pleasant speed. We did a lot of walking, took subway for some parts and took taxis for some part to save transit time. He was knowledgeable and explained a lot of Japanese history and religions. He speaks English very well and we had no problem. Overall I am very satisfied with the tour in Kyoto. I will definitely check back again at Triplelights in my Japan trip in the future. Thank you for reading my review.
Dear MIREE I am very grateful to you for your great reviews on Mar 24 one day tour in Kyoto. I am very glad to hear from that both of you had a pleasant one day trip in Kyoto. You must be feeling a sense of wonder while you were visiting at five hisorically important sites, esp.Fushimi-Inari Shrine, Sanjyu-Sangendo temple and Golden Pavilion. Best regards Ap 13 Hiroshi Y.
We had a wonderful day with Hiroshi today. He had made a very good plan for us and shared of his great knowledge of the places we visited. We look forward to one more day with him.
Hiroshi customized our tour in Kyoto to avoid places already covered by our tour company. He shared anecdotes while travelling between destinations and took us to very interesting places. He helped us order food and gave excellent directions to get back to our hotel at the end of the day. Hiroshi is very knowledgeable about the local history and current life in Japan. He took group photos for us and emailed them afterwards. He stayed after hours with some of our group as they wanted to extend their wandering into the early evening. Compared to the tour company's local guide, the service was much more personal and engaging. We had a truly wonderful day and highly recommend Hiroshi's services.
Dear Debby Thank you Debby for your great compliments on one day tour in Kyoto. I was glad to see that my guests had a pleasent trip in Kyoto, not only visiting at important historical places but also enjoy eating Kyoto specialities as well. I wish you had at least one more time on that day. If so, I was able to guide you so-called the Geiko town or Flower town in Gion district, where if you have a chance, you may encounter with a Maiko or Geiko san walking around in the streets. Best regards Mar 15 Hiroshi ( Hiro) Y.
We spent one day with Hiroshi-San. We cannot say enough about this man . He was so funny , knowledgeable, personable, patient and very thoughtful. We thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out with him all day and we were sad when we had to say goodbye. He is amazing with kids and we can imagine that he was a wonderful elementary school teacher. Our ten year old just adored him ! We definitely wouldn’t have covered so much ground without him. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for a top notch guide to help them navigate through Kyoto ! HIRO is THE BEST!!! We would hire him again in heartbeat if we came back to Japan !
Dear Natalie I say thank you Natalie for your great reviews on one day tour in Kyoto. All of you must be enjoy looking at beautiful gardens, scenic beauty in Katsragawa riverside, so abstract touch of the Ryoanji temple garden and amazingly beautiful Golden Pavilion temple etc. I am proud of these great cultural and histolical heritage in Kyoto. Best regards Mar 15 Hiroshi ( Hiro)
My daughter and I went to Nara for a tour with Hiroshi. It was really great. Hiroshi was so knowledgeable and telling us all the tips and tricks from how to feed the dear in Nara deer park (very important, otherwise they can be a bit aggressive) to some hidden treasures and interesting facts that you would not read in a book or find on your own. I highly recommend him. As if this was not enough, my daughter had a medical emergency while we were in the middle of Nara deer park. Hiroshi helped us to find a place for her to sit and then helped us call an ambulance. He was so caring and helped us so much that I cannot say enough about his attitude, his humor (which helped us when stressed) and his clear caring about the incident. He was just amazing and we will never forget him and the... read more
Dear Mark I am very grateful to you for your great reviews on one day tour in Nara. It was so unfortunate that your daughter had a medical emergency during your tour in Nara. But after getting medical treatment by ER.doctors at Nara City Hospital, she had soon recoverd, if not completely. I was so happy to see that she looked gradually getting better and I was also able to guide both of you to the fifth -storied pagoda in Kofukuji-temple and the National Treasure Hall. Best regards Mar 15 Hiroshi (hiro)
We had a very full day with Hiro in Kyoto. He has a very good sense of humor and likes to give little tests to see about your knowledge. Hiro is definitely a fast walker so at times I thought we had lost him, but he was always patiently waiting for us to catch up! Fun day!
Dear Sybil Thank you for your compliments on full day tour in Kyoto. I also really enjoyed guiding " such a great students like you" to four must-see places in Kyoto. All of you showed me great concerns and interests about Japanese culture and history. Best regards Mar 14 Hiroshi (Hiro)
Booking a full-day Kyoto tour with Hiro was easily one of the best decisions I'd made when planning my trip to Japan. His friendliness, sense of humor and expertise will immediately put you at ease in a country that can be bewildering to English-only speakers. There was absolutely NO way I would've been able to fit in as many sights in one day without his local knowledge. Hiro's rate is an absolute bargain for what he offers since you can customize your tour and focus only on the sights you want to see. Ultimately I had a much more enriching experience of Kyoto than my boyfriend did. (He was disappointed by a guided-group bus tour of the city he took a few years ago because he was unable to see the sights most recommended by TripAdvisor users.) Thanks to Hiro's expertise I was able to ma... read more
Dear Mi I am very grateful to you for your great reviews on Feb 27 one day tour in Kyoto. I feel so happy while I am reading your long compliments of the tour. You are such a tough walker ! Even though you visited many sites and walked around a long distance in a day , you said no complaining !. You must be one of the greatest ever teachers of arts because when you visited at the prolific and multi-talented Kawai Kanjiro Memorial House, you looked so excited and was fascinated with every piece of Kanjiro's art work such as pottery works, carvings calligraphy and his house itself once used as his atelier. this shows us that you must have a sense of aesthetic. I hope that you will introduce the aethetic aspect of Japanese beauty to your students. Best regards Mar 7 Hiroshi (h... read more
We had a great time touring Kyoto with Hiroshi, He is very knowledgeable and patient. We did not limit ourselves to questions about the sights but also about other things we saw on the way and the Japanese way of life, he gladly answered all questions. He has a great sense of humor and he is using it whilst showing us the different sights. Touring with Hiroshi allowed us to make excellent use of our limited time as he took care of all the navigation / getting around the Metro and also gave us tips and options for altering the tour as for example one sight was being partly renovated [hence: nothing to see]. Thank you Hirosh for a very memorable and fun experience.
Dear Bill I say thank you for your great reviews on Feb 23 one day tour in Kyoto.I also really enjoyed guiding you to several important historical sites like Fushimi-Inari Shrine, Nijyo-jyo castle and Golden Pavilion etc because you have a deep knowledges and interests in terms of Japanes culture and history. Dear Eid I am grateful to you for your great reviews on Feb 28 one day tour in Kyoto. I am pleased to know that you are interested in Japanese culture and history as well . You also gave me deep knowledge of the way of life of the Musulim people, thank you. Best Mar 6 Hiroshi Y.
Overall, our trip with Hiro was okay. He was very informative and taught us a lot of about the places we visited. A few things that left us disappointed, He switched up the itinerary on us and instead of taking us to the 6 places he listed on our private message, he took us to 5. He left out Kiyomizudera. Another thing that you all should be aware of, is he makes you take Taxi. There’s nothing wrong with making us take taxi, but he wasn’t considerate about asking us if we had enough cash on us to take it and coincidentally, we were in taxi’s that didn’t accept card. If time was really an issue, he should’ve communicated with us regarding the change of itinerary.
Dear Princess I am sorry in delaying to send mail to you. I should explain about the itinerary of that day and the way of paying a taxi fee with more detailed information to both of you. Best regards Mar 6 Hiroshi Y.
We had a wonderful time with Hiro. He did his best to show us Nara and Kyoto. He was extremely patient with all our questions and he was always very nice with us! Thank you so much Hiro, arigato todai mas (not sure if it is written like this:) from your worst students :)

Hiro is such a knowledgeable, friendly, and fun tour guide! We had one day to spend on our trip to Kyoto and asked him to show us 4 amazing sights. It was a very fast paced walking tour, but it met our expectations and more! We were able to see so many great sights and Hiro explained to us the history and significance of each place. We would highly recommend Hiro! He speaks English well, is quite humorous, and made our one-day trip a success!

Walking in the long distance is a good way to stay fit. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi was a fantastic guide for our first visit of Kyoto. Thanks to him, we discovered a beautiful city with a great story and culture. We had a full day of visits, we were quite tired after all these km walking but Hiro seemed to be flying haha! He took many photos of us in front of the key spots, that was really nice. He is a really fun and knowledgeable person, perfect to get a great taste of Kyoto.

Spent all day from Hiroshi in Nara- went to few of the major sites and then some off-the-beaten paths as well as as sake tasting and a nice placer to lunch and lots of sweets ....Every thing was a learning experience and was done with much laughter...
Dear Susan I am very grateful to you for your heartfelt reviews of the one day tour in Nara. I had a pleasant day because I visited at Tadaiji-temple so early morning about 8:30 am. I enjoyed walking around in the Todaiji temple premises in quiet and calm atmosphere. I also enjoyed visiting at Shin-yakushiji-temple, where is a kind of off the beaten sites in Nara. I was deeply attracted to the twelve guardian statues in this temple. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Mr Hiro is a good guide. He adjusted the schedule and scope of the tour according to our needs. He did not rush us in each site. He lets us take as much photos we want. He also took us to a good affordable restaurant for lunch. It was just too bad that we were not able to see geishas at Gion district. He did not know that the shops were closed during Sundays. We could have gone to the Bamboo Grove instead of the Gion District. Mr. Hiroshi does not have much information to share regarding the sites but it was fine with us. Thank you for your service, Mr Hiro. We had a good time and your pictures of us are great! Thank you.
Dear Josephine Thank you for your compliment on Nov 11 tour in Kyoto. I apologize to you for bringing you to the Gion district where all of the Geiko-san houses closed on Sundays. In hindsight, I should show you Bamboo forest, instead of Gion district and Kawai -Kanjiro House. so sorry. Yours Nov 16 Hiroshi Y.

I was so amazed to hear that when I gave a question in terms of the Kannon buddha statue at Sanjyu-sangendo temple such as ' What do the Buddha statues are made of ? ' to all of you, your youngest daughter replied on the spot ' It's made of timber ! ' what a great imagination she has ! I always feel happy when my guests show us great interest and concern of Japanese culture and history. Best regards Hiroshi.Y.
We a had a fun day with Hiroshi! He picked us up at our hotel promptly and showed us Kyoto for the day. He had a well planned route that used subway, taxis and train. He is a retired teacher who speaks English well and engages you so understand “why” things happen. He is very energetic and he brought along his camera to photograph us at various spots during the day, he is to email us the photos. We were sorry to have to end our day, but had a train to catch to return to our ship, so tiredly we left Kyoto.and Hiroshi, wishing we had more time to spend there.
We have had 2 very interesting and informative daily trips with Hiroshi. He was excellent tour guide: knowledgeable, accomodating, helped us with purchasing all tickets, altered iternary to our wishes, booked Tea ceremony on very short notice ,took our pictures and made our trip very enjoyable. Thank you Hiroshi San. You are a fantastic tour guide and funny.
Hiro Had some challenges because we did not get off the ship until late in the afternoon and we had limited daytime available. He did what he could to show us some of the highlights, but again I think we would’ve had better success if more daylight was available. I will say that he walks very fast, but I think he was trying to show us as much as he could within the limited time that we had. He was very kind and even nice enough to get us some delicious chocolate. His English skills are pretty good, not perfect, but we did not expect that. I thought that his prices were fair. He is a gentleman and it was a pleasure to meet him. I enjoyed seeing what we could of Kyoto and I appreciated his expertise and kindness.
Dear Dradford Thank you for your great compliment. I always feel so happy while I am guiding my guests to some kind of amaxingly beautiful and historically important sites in Kyoto. I wish that you arrived at port of Osaka, at least two hours earlier on that day. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiro was an absolute legend!! He is a wealth of knowledge, but also a very very funny bloke. We had such a brilliant day with him, particularly with just 12 hours notice from booking. He was able to accomodate the changes we asked for in relation to what we wanted to see and do. The day was a challenge as it was the day after the typhoon so a few places were closed but the beauty of going with such an experienced guide meant he filled our day with things we hadn't even thought of doing and that was brilliant. His quizes made the day a bit of fun and the chocolate prizes were a great incentive. We look forward to another visit to Kyoto in the coming years and only hope he is still providing tours. Thank you for such a wonderful, educational day to remember!!!

Our family of 5 traveled to Japan for a holiday two weeks ago. My husband and I are seasoned travelers. We’ve hired many guides over the years and have enjoyed all of them. About our trip: We started in Tokyo and decided to hire guides to ease the language barrier and the overall logistics of traveling with children. Our first guide, Makiko, was a dream. She was full of personality and just fabulous. I wrote an excellent review. You can find her under Tokyo guides. When we arrived to our Ryokan, Hiroshi was there waiting. From the beginning, we didn’t find him to be very conversive. He didn’t ask us questions or really introduce himself. In fact, Hiroshi kept a 100 yard distance from us from the beginning. (We are from NYC and walk pretty quickly, but his pace was incredible!). ... read more
According to my guests, he was okay
Dear Olivia I guided Mrs.M and Mr.B's family to one of the biggest whisky makers in Japan to Yamazaki district in Osaka pref. They enjoyed tasting of a tiny cup (25 ml)of the highest-quality of whisky, and next they headed for Nara. They got really excited when they were feeding crackers to many deer roaming around freely in the vast Deer Park. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi was very patient, honest and very good guide to show us around in Kyoto. We saw different shrines and gave us a lot of information about the history of the shrines/temples then took us for lunch and then to the market. Hiroshi was a thoughtful and experienced guide, with a teaching background, which made him very knowledgeable on the sites. His English was good and he was patient if we asked him to clarify something he said. He also kept us interested with pop quizzes about particular aspects of the sites and rewarded us with very good chocolate bars. Thank you Hiroshi for two fantastic days in Kyoto!
Dear Claudia I say thank you for your great reviews of both Aug 15 and 16 tour in Kyoto. I was really amazed at how knowledgeable all of your family members were in terms of Japanese history and culture. I wish that the Kawai-Kanjiro Memorial House were open on Aug 15. If it were open on that day, your daughter must be fascinated by abstractness and calmness of the Memorial House. During Aug 14,15 and 16 are most important Buddhist holidays called Obon. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi was one of the best tour guides I've ever had the pleasure of being around. He made the tour very enjoyable and even explained the history of it all as the tour progressed. He made my son and I feel like Japan was our second home. Arigato gozaimasu!!

We had such a great time on our tour with Hiroshi. He’s a really funny guy who is quite knowledgeable about Japanese history and culture- he almost always had the answer to our wide-ranging questions. As a former school teacher, he really tailored the tour as a fun learning experience, giving us little quizzes and prizes along the way. I would highly recommend Hiroshi to anyone who wants to have a fun day in Kyoto while also learning a lot.

Dear Kim Thank you Kim for your compliments of the review on July 14 tour in Kyoto. I was wondering whether or not all of your three family members could climb up to the Monkey park located on the top of Mt.Iwatayama. Amazingly all of you got ahead of me while we were climbing up toward the Park , even though it was a terribly hot day ! I always feel happy that my guests expressed a sense of wonder when they visited at the most important historical and cultural sites like 1000 Trii gates in Fushimi Inari Shrine , Sanjyu-sangendo temple and bamboo forest etc. Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Hiroshi is very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. He helped us to understand the history of Japan and the importance and context of the places we visited, Nijo Castle and Imperial Palace. He made an effort to engage all of us including our adult and teen children by asking them questions including what they thought about a place or event. Hiroshi’s experience as a school teacher was evident and helpful. We highly recommend him to anyone.
Dear Bradford I am very grateful to you for your great comments on both two days tour in Kyoto and Nara. I was deeply impressed that both of you Mr.Tim and your wife showed me great concerns and knowledge of Japanese history and religion. Even though it was so hot and much humidity, both of you listened to my explanation, thank you ! Best regards Hiroshi Y.
Pros: Hiroshi was very knowlegeable about the sites of Kyoto. We toured on a very hot day and he accommodated our need to alter the schedule. The pictures he took for us were great. Cons: He did not ask our lunch budget, and we ended up spending a lot of time and money for lunch. We spent much more money on transportation than anticipated.

We had a very interesting and fun day with Hiroshi. His past experience as a schoolteacher makes him an excellent guide, as he was very knowledgeable about all the sites and areas he showed us. Among the memorable places we visited with him was Fushimi Inari Shrine with its thousands of torii gates, the Golden Pavilion of Kinkajuji, and to Gion to catch a glimpse of geisha. We are experienced travelers and have hired many guides and Hiroshi would be one of the best. He answered our questions and would seek answers if he didn’t know. When we expressed interest in art, he took us to a famous artist’s home which was a highlight of the day. Hiroshi is knowledgeable, funny, friendly, very helpful, reliable, and entertaining. He also speaks excellent English and is super energetic.
