I don’t think we would have appreciated Kyoto without Masaki. He really helped us understand the history and the importance of Kyoto to the rest of Japan. Besides being very informative, he was extremely flexible and caring We were a rough crowd of five different personalities and ages from the United States and he was able to keep our attention and make sure that we got what we needed from the trip. If there was a downside at all, it would be that we spent a lot of time on buses and trains. I don’t know if the transportation we took wasn’t the best option available, But it seems like it would’ve been less wear and tear had we been in a van.
Misaki is a very warm and considerate guide. Most importantly, he provided us with very useful information which greatly enhanced our time with him
I simply can not say enough about Masaki and his skill as a tour guide. Not in a million years would we had been able to see so many beautiful sights in Kyoto without his ability to move us from place to place, purchasing entry tickets without hassle but also knowing the fastest ways in & out plus the timing of our arrivals & exits were spot on. Masaki & Steve had quite a long conversation about the Samari rock garden & breathing that we have continued to reflect upon. We also did some off the beaten path places that I loved but the absolute topper on Masaki’s resume was after the tour when I received 100 photos he took of us in Kyoto with his own camera. And may I say they are not only excellent photos but ones that I will treasure forever. I’m grateful for his touring skills & leadi... read more
Hi Kelly, How are you? Is everything going on well? Thank you for sending me a review. Your review encourages me to work hard and continue this job. It is a wonderful thing that you have a good memory in Kyoto. Please visit me again. Next time I take you in the norther part of Kyoto. See you. Masaki
Masaki was Awesome! He really lets us absorb and learn so much culture from our day in Hiroshima and Miyajima. My family really loved our time with Masaki and he was very enjoyable and easy to work with. Thanks Masaki for an enjoyable time!
Hi Trisha, Thank you for a wonderful review. Yes, it was a great day for me, too. I had some first experiences. Relaxed time and leisurely tours made me forget the time passing. Thank you again for sharing precious time with your family. Good luck in Japan!! Masaki
Masaki was a very helpful guide. Even before we started the tour with him, he gave us directions to get to Kyoto (as we were coming in on train) and helped me source a wheelchair for my Mum who needed it after she had a fall the day after she landed. He made the whole thing easier. I am glad we had him. He also provided in depth info about Kyoto through information that he put together in a booklet to make it more meaningful. And took heaps of photos of us. Thank you Masaki.
Hi Kirandeep, Thank you for a nice message. Very happy that you enjoyed Kyoto tour. Now you have already come back home. Hope your mother's recovery. Please say hello to all the members.
We experienced a most relaxing yet educational day with Masaki, touring the sites of Uji, home of matcha. Because my husband’s mobility and energy was compromised, Masaki chose this outing for its length and flat terrain, plus he is very atuned to the history there. He was most patient with our challenges yet delivered a wonderful tour.
It was a great trip to both Nara and Kyoto. Masaki is very attentive to our interest and need. He also brought my us to Samurai and Ninja museum while we were in Kyoto (my kids enjoy them very much!). Lastly, he brought us to Sushi restaurant which was very delicious and affordable. Thank you very much, Masaki-san for you guidance. This is a very memorable trip for our family! Hope we have the chance to meet you again in the future! Kevin
Dear Kevin, Happy to hear of your safe return and thank you for sending a nice message. As you experienced it, all kids become a marine soldier after waring an armor. Probably it was a great experience and a memory to become a ninja. As a matter of fact, adults get excited too. Next time please visit me in Nara, my home town. Instead of ninja, you are surrounded by wild deer. Looking forward to seeing you.
Excellent and easy communication with Masaki during preparation for the tour. Masaki speaks very good English. He answered all questions promptly and thoroughly and he made suggestions and sent photos of alternative sights to see when one of the places we wanted to go to was not open on the date of our tour. He went out of his way to book us additional services like the rickshaw and a van which was a last-minute decision. Everything was planned out well. Day 1 was Kyoto by van and day 2 was Osaka by public transpo. Masaki picked us up on time from our Kyoto Airbnb with the van he booked for us and dropped us off at our Osaka Airbnb after the tour. It was a very long day but everything worked out well! He picked us up again the next day from our Osaka Airbnb for our Osaka tour. Masaki gave ... read more
We had a wonderful day with Masaki. He gave us a lot of information about the places we visited and managed to steer us through the New Year crowds. Also he was happy to give tips and information about things to do by ourselves. He took lots of photos for us . Regards Ian,Lisa &Emma
Hi Ian Thank you for a prompt review. On New Year Day, Kyoto was crowded everywhere. Hope she will dance in Japan on TV. She has a talent. Thanks to cooperation, our tour went smoothly. Your Japan tour still continues, take care of yourselves because Japan becomes colder from now on. See you again.
I highly recommend Masaki. He show us around Ōsaka. Masaki’s English is very good. He is very knowledgeable! We will make sure to recommend him with our friends. Thank you! Thank you! Masaki we really enjoyed our Ōsaka tour. Julio & Teresa
Masaki could not have worked harder. He took us to all of the places we wanted to see and tailored the itinerary perfectly. He is full of knowledge and good humour. We did not simply see the sights, we learned about the history of Zen Buddhism, meditation practice and breathing and Japanese philosophy. After the tour was over, he sent us over 70 excellent photos that he had taken during the day, which is a great souvenir. This was a first class day out and we highly recommend Masaki.
Hi Christian, Thank you for sending a good message. I'm very happy to share my knowledge about the meditation method with you. Did Anita start meditation today? No matter how short your time is, practice it in succession. Practice makes perfect. By the way, Christian you are sure to be the best son in the world. See you again. Masaki
Masaki is a very passionate guide who takes his time to explain every aspects of the culture; he made my stay in Kyoto very memorable
Hi Catherine, Thank you for a good review. Yes, as you say, it was a very unique tour indeed. This encounter is a gift from God. Probably both of us are a good person. See you again. Masaki
Our tours with Masaki could not have been better!
Hi Doctor Karin, Thank you for sending a message. History, culture, traditions, medicine, chi exercise and deep breathing. It's a wonderful time. Zen is practical Buddhism. Hope it will open and deepen a new world. Say hello to Sharon.
Masaki is an excellent guide. Being a previous history teacher, his knowledge allowed us to appreciated the sites much more. While English is his second language, he was understandable. We only had 10 hours during our cruise to see Osaka and the surrounding area, but he catered to the destinations and activities that we wanted in the short amount of time allowed. He also had good and prompt communication prior to arriving there, answering all of our questions and helping us tweak our itinerary.
Hello Clifton, Thank you for sending a friendly message. Going around Kyoto and Osaka in this limited time must have been demanding for your mother and older members. I appreciate your cooperation. Thank you again. This time we visited only the entrance of Kansai. Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka have a lot of attractions. Next time, stay in Kyoto and enjoy its night life and beautiful cherry blossoms. Please say hello to your members. Masaki
Thanks Masaki (Mike) for a fantastic two days guiding us through Kyoto and Nara . You are very passionate about your job . We appreciate your thorough knowledge of Japanese history and have learnt much about your culture and now have a better understanding Buddhism and Shinto religions. Thank you for the photos you sent , we are not “selfie” people so it was good to have some shots of us together for a change .Also thank you for teaching us some Chi exercises whilst we had down time waiting for buses. We will continue to practice what you taught us. We highly recommend Mike as a guide , he is most professional, punctual and most of all flexible . We were able to see a number of sites that are not on the usual tourist trail . John and Roma , Perth Australia
Hi John and Roma, Thank you for sending a message. I'm very happy that you enjoyed Kyoto and Nara for two days. Yes, these cities are so called Japan's essence. For those who like history, they may be the best historical stage, no matter what country you come from. I think you had wonderful vacation here. Practice chi exercise every morning and night. Be a good meditator. See you again!
Masaki made our day in Kyoto very special. From the moment we met he was warm and engaging, and shared his obvious love for Japanese culture and history. He explained the itinerary clearly, and taught us to navigate the Kyoto train and bus system. During each part of his tour he shared his knowledge about not only the places but also the context in Japanese history and culture - particularly the Samurai! Masaki also gave us an interesting background in the evolution of the various religions that underpin Japanese society and history. We came away feeling that we understood the nature of historical Kyoto, not just the buildings. Our walk through Gion at sunset was very special, and we even saw several Geisha by following Masaki's special advice! As a bonus, Masaki takes excellent pho... read more
Hi Gary, Thank you for sending a good review. I heard that this is your first visit to Japan. So I was very happy to guide you around ancient capital. Probably this tour would give you general background of Japan. Kyoto is a very interesting city. The more you learn about it, the more pleasure and curiosity will be given. Hope you will come back and be a lover of Kyoto.
I was eager to see lots of Kyoto in the limited time I had there. As a former History teacher, Masaki helped me work out a great itinerary to make the most of my time, prior to my trip. The day of my tour, Masaki arrived promptly and immediately began pointing out places of interest from steps from my Ryokan. Masaki never missed an opportunity to point out the things that were of importance to me, and went out of his way to take busses & trains in order to navigate the city quickly. He was thoughtful and always eager to discuss traditions and customs that I was unfamiliar with. I enjoyed our time in the Temples & Shrines talking about religions and relations between our two countries! He was kind, patient, and always made sure we were moving a comfortable pace for me. If I returned to Kyot... read more
Hi Ian, Thank you for your nice and warm review. I also had a wonderful time with you. Kyoto is sometime a hell city because of its harsh weather. In August, the weather was terrible. I was worried about my guest's physical conditions all the time. But in September my Kyoto smiled at you and me. I'm very happy you had a good memory with Kyoto. One more, please say hello to your girlfriend. Lovely deer and Great Buddha are waiting for your arrival next time. See you some day! Good luck! Masaki
Masaki San was explaining very well with a clear and delicate voice: he makes you dive right into the stories as it was a movie ! With the homemade illustrated book that he carries around, you can picture it even more ! He is not only a good guide, but he is also an amazing human being ! Even if the day spent with Masaki San was rainy, he managed to make it sunny :) We recommend him 100% ! Thank you so much !!! See you next time hopefully !
Hi John and Jean, Thank you for sending a good review. This is the moment I feel happy to be a guide. Kyoto was a capital for 1000 years, full fo historical attractions. Wish this history experience could give you a hint to your business success. As I told you during the tour, I may visit New York in next or next next January. I am sure to visit your restaurant to enjoy delicious Japanese dishes. Looking forward to seeing you again in New York. Masaki
Masaki gave us a great tour of Kyoto and provided us with some great knowledge.
Dear Saunders, It was a nice experience. Looking forward to seeing your Arashiyama film in September. Thank you. Masaki
Masaki was a wonderful and accommodating guide who was able to put together 2 days of off -the-beaten track adventures to Yuasa and Tsukigase. For us, traveling to a different country means meaningful interactions ******* and their way of life and this was encapsulated in our 2 days with Masaki. He was detailed oriented and meticulous. We couldn’t have asked for a better traveling companion!
Hi Sandra, thank you for a good review. Hear you are now in Europe. Take care of yourself there. See you!!!
We can’t thank Masaki enough for his personalized tour. He was knowledgeable about the sites we visited and led us through some very cool zen exercises while at Ryoanji temple. He provided us with some spectacular photos after our tour and when we are concerned about emergency alerts regarding flood conditions, he reached out to us to provide helpful advice. In the end he was more than just a tour guide but a friend.
John, thank you for sending a good review. Glad to hear your safe return. Hope God blesses you and your wonderful family. Masaki
My 16 year old daughter and I spend a day with Mr. Masaki and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Kyoto. We chose Mr. Masaki because of his background as a history teacher, superior english skills and great reviews. He was the greatest guide we could ever imagine - thoughtful, educational and perfect in every way. We learned so much, saw all the most wonderful spots - we left the agenda up to him and only shared our interests to inform the trip schedule. He took us everywhere and is a sheer delight to spend time with. Thank you Mr. Masaki for showing us around. If anyone is considering him as a tour guide - do not hesitate in fact, book him as fast as possible!
My family spent months planning to squeeze Kyoto, Nara and Osaka it to 2 days, with Misaki’s help we made that happen. He was kind, informative, organized and a pleasure to talk and walk with. I’d love to spend a month with him and his depth of knowledge. He was excellent at making things fun. He kept my children (11-20yrs) involved and engaged.
With Masaki, you can really get the local's insights on so many things. Even on locations, he will teach you the insider's scoop, places to specifically go... never a dull moment with him! English is exceptional! He has lots of creative suggestions in mind.
Masaki was so knowledgeable about the Osaka area (we had a fantastic day in and around Nara). We wanted to do some things off the beaten path and he was able to deliver a memorable experience. Very flexible when we wanted to change the plan. Thorough knowledge of English and a a great communicator. We recommend without hesitation.
We had the most wonderful day in Kyoto with Masaki. He was extremely prompt and efficient in his response upon initial contact. I let him know what my husband and I wanted to see, and within hours, I had a spreadsheet detailing every step of our trip, including how we would be traveling, duration for each part (whether it be walking, taxi, along with any expenses we may incur. It was an extremely well-thought out itinerary and route. Masaki came to the train promptly at 10 AM and was with us every step of the way. At each place we visited, he provided insight that we necessarily would not get from a board or audio guide and even had a full dossier of facts and illustrations that were relevant to places we visited. He even threw in a few smaller sites that he really was enthusiastic about sh... read more

Masaki was a pleasure to spend our first tour in Kyoto with. So full of history, and interesting information. We enjoyed our time together very much. He even emailed us pictures of our day together. Thank you for making our time in Kyoto so special.
As soon as I booked my tour with him, he was very warm,he made suggestions as to how we can make the most of our very limited time in Osaka. He communicated very well in English, he was willing to accommodate my requests and made sure that everybody was comfortable during our trip. He came up with different itineraries for me and my family. I trusted him to show Japan and he delivered over and beyond my expectations. He was very polite, genuine, very hardworking, and knowledgeable about the different shrines and temples. The best part about our tour was that he was willing to take our pictures,he cut the unnecessary lines and took us to the important areas. He was like a grandfather to my children. He communicated with me and my family even after we have been back home. We found a good fri... read more
He showed us many important sites and told us a lot of interesting things about the history of the monuments and temples. He bought two Amazing Osaka passes for us which was very useful. He knew very good places for eating Kobe beef and other local specialties.
Masaki is a knowledgeable guide: he informed us a lot about the history of the visited monuments. Also, he is very helpful person: he gave a lot of suggestions how to use our JRpass the most efficient ways during our trip around Japan. He also is very patient with his terrible “guests “ like us because all we are “picturalcolic” persons... His calmness and passion touched our heart... Thank you so much, Masaki
We were very lucky to have Masaki for 2 days. He took us to wonderful world heritage sites and gave thorough explanations. He is extremely knowledgeable in Japanese history and religion and was able to express everything in good english. He is highly energetic, covering more things in a day than were originally planned. He also has a nice sense of humor. We were very pleased with our tours. We recommend him highly.
Hello Susan, Thank you for sending a warm review. It was unfortunate that it rained almost all the time for two days. But, despite the bad weather, our tour seemed to go on well. We also had a nice dinner in Nara . I hope you had a special night and a good memory. Wish for your good health and success. Please contact me if you visit Japan again.
Mr Masaki is a fun tour guide that you want to be around with while you are in such a place that you have never been before. He takes your burden off in the country that you dont know the language, tradition, where to go, what to eat etc, etc.. This is the first time we met him but he liked a brother or an uncle that we know for a long time.He is very knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. He was very patient too, as we 're still in "jet-lagged mode during the tour. Definitely, he made our esperience in Osaka and Nara to the fullest. So, for those who like to visit Nara and Osaka first time, we highly recommend Mr Masaki. Thank you Mr Masaki. Thank you Triple Lights. Dahlia and family
Hi, Julias and Dahlia, Thank you for sending me a warm message, Dahlia. I do say I enjoyed very much spending time with your family. Above all, Julias has a unique character. Warm, friendly and generous. We are attracted into his world. Coming from the sun, he radiates happy waves around him. I've never met a happy person like him. Enjoy Japan to the bottom of your heart. Wish for the health and happiness of your family. If I have a chance to visit Dallas, I'll contact you. Hope to see you again. Never forget happy memories.
He invited us to be patient and take our time understanding what we were seeing! As Americans we tend to rush into our day (even on vacation) and try to cover as much as possible we can. This experience was different, looking back, we got a lot more out of our tour and time with him than expected! He was also very flexible with his time and what we wanted to do while in Kyoto!
Hi Frank, Thank you for sending me a warm message about our tour. I'm very glad that you enjoy Japan tour. Yes, something unexpected happened to us during tour. Both you and I haven't experienced incidents of this kind before. When I looked at photos, I notice that you really enjoyed having dinner *******. They miss you and your wife. Visit Japan again in cherry blossom season next year. Next time with your daughters. I express thanks for sharing a happy time with you.
Masaki gave us the highlight of our trip. We really enjoyed our time with him. He prepared a very organized tour and you can really see his hardwork and effort paying off. Much recommended to other tourists. He also took us to an excellent dinner place afterwards where we drank sake and ate delicious japanese food. We will never forget our time with Masaki. He will also take pictures for you to keep memories. I would book hin again when I return to Japan. Thank you Masaki!
Hi Joliza, Thank you for hard work and cooperation on Jan. 27. We went to Arashiyama, Golden Pavilion in Kyoto and Mt Wakakusa in Nara. 12 hours were a long duration. In addition, it was very cold outside. But this tour became one of my memorable tours. The spectacular night view in the dark sky astonished and moved us. Beautiful fireworks exploded in the sky one after another as if they welcomed your arrival. Later the mountain was set fire. Red and orange great flames burned the mountain and sky. Beyond description to express the scene. In addition, the dinner after the ceremony. Everything went well. Congratulation!!! See you again.
We toured Nara with Masaki and had a fantastic day! He brought us off the beaten path to see Horyuji Temple, which was worth the time, then to Nara Park to play with the deer and see Todaji Temple. Masaki knew his history about each spot and had plenty of stories and information to share. He has a notebook with facts and dates for you to read and was very well prepared. He is also a fantastic photographer and took 100 pictures of us throughout the day on his iPad (shared via Google photos). We wish we had booked him in Kyoto also... our other guided days paled in comparison. We learned a lot and had a very enjoyable time with Masaki- highly recommended.
Dear Samantha Thank you for sending me a wonderful message. Glad to hear that you were satisfied with your Nara tour. Probably you had a different experience from Kyoto. And again I'm very happy If my stories were of any help and of any use. My photos will remind you of your happy family time in Japan. In early April a cherry blossom season comes. It is a fantasy world. If you have time around that time, visit here again some time. Looking forward to seeing you. Say hello to your family members.
My family was so happy . Kyoto and Nara’s tourist spots was amazing.
Hello Doris, Thank you for sending a good message. On the first day of 2018 you were at Todaiji, one of Japan's most popular sightseeing spots. Probably you were surprised so many people who visited temples and shrines. This is one of the long traditions. I wished for good luck, happiness, and sound mind and body for everybody. I'm sure you will have a good year too. See you again.
As a lone traveler who's no experience with tour guides I was a bit dubious about how much I would enjoy a guided tour. But I can honestly say spending time with Masaki was probably the highlight of my entire trip. From his warm welcome, extensive historical knowledge and attentiveness the day turned out to be very rewarding. On top of the very informative tour, Masaki provided all the information required to easily travel to the meet up point. Taking time at the end of the day to ensure I was catching the correct train home. The pictures are also a nice souvenir. Thanks for a great time Masaki. Hope to see you again when I return to Japan!
Hello Ewan, Thank you for sending me a warm message. As you were a lone traveler and your visit to Japan was the first time, it's quite natural that you had some worry together with expectation. Anyway I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed Kyoto. Did you go to Mt. Koya during your stay in Osaka? Next time come to Japan with your future wife. You are generous, warm. You are sure to meet a wonderful person. Looking forward to seeing you. Hope your dream will come true.!
Mr. Masaki Hira was very knowledgeable of history and accommodating to fit all our trip itinerary. He's very helpful at taking our photos, overzealous at times, and emailing them to us afterwards.
Hello Duy, Thank you for sending me a good message. Thanks to your cooperation, we could visit six destinations as planned. But it might be a little busy tour for us. I wish I could have had more time to talk about each destination. Hope you would enjoy photos for your beautiful memories in Kyoto. Masaki
Masaki was an excellent guide. He was very informative and interesting and did his very best to make our time with him enjoyable. He was extremely kind and patient with my elderly mom, and I very much appreciated it. Overall, I would say that Masaki is a wonderful guide and an asset to Triple Lights. I would highly recommend him, and if I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto again with my husband will definitely request him as our guide! Thank you, Masaki!!
Dear Amy, Finally you came home. Glad to hear you came back with your elderly mother. How about one month tours in Asian countries with your mother? I hope you would enjoy various countries. You did a great job to her, I really think so, because I had a similar experience. It may take some time for you to return to a normal life. For a time being enjoy sweet memories in the past one month. And thank you for warm message. I'm very happy to see your husband. Cherry blossoms are one of the best seasons. I'm waiting for both of you. Thank you!
It was really a very good tour with Masaki. So much wealth of knowledge and my kids appreciated each story he has to tell regarding the site we have been to. Masaki really took care of us...making sure we are all ok in each train ride and very mindful of our needs. He even helped us in ordering food😊. We will never forget Masaki...we will recommend him to our friends and definitely come back to Japan.
Dear Zaida, thank you for sending me a good review. We had beautiful days during your stay in Kansai and thanks to the good weather, we enjoyed viewing autumn leaves. The goodness of your family relationship was very impressive. Family members get together around Jojo. Frankly speaking, you are an ideal family, I think. You left me with good unforgettable memories. I wish for your happiness and Jojo, Dominic, and Nicoro's health and success. See you again.
It's amazing that Masaki at his age can still move very fast and fit. He's also very puncture and eager to share his knowledge on the history of some places we have visited. He can interact very quickly and very much a fatherly figure. I am quite sure that he will deliver his services when call upon. Thank you once again, Masaki San for showing us around during our one day tour in Kyoto
Dear Michael, Thank you very much for your warm review. It was a very beautiful autumn day. It was ideal for walking and enjoying outdoor attractions. We were lucky. I usually guide around temples, shrines, and other historical sites. But it is needless to say this kind of waking tour also gives me great pleasure. The Higashiyama district incuding Philosopher's way, Eikando, and Nanzenji, they are best strolling district. There were some places which I would like to guide if we had some time. But it is certain that you walked and enjoyed Kyoto in the best season. See you some day. Masaki
Teacher masaki (as my daughter emma would later call him 😊) was our guide in osaka and nara. He knows very well all about the subway system which saved us a lot of time. He gave insights of the places we visit especially in nara. He took a lot of pictures for us. He is prompt and on time. We like him as our guide because he was very patient with my two kids. He even help carry one of our strollers😊 we cancelled our trip to kyoto on our last day of tour because of the heavy rain. And my kids were complaining of their soaked feet. 😄😄 we hope to see mr masaki soon on our next visit to japan.
Hello Divine, Thank you for sending me a good message. Unfortunately the weather was too bad for your family, especially Jake and Emma. But in spite of the bad conditions, they endured so long. They did a great job. The heavy rains prevented me from guiding you properly. Very sorry. You decided to cancel Kyoto tour, which I think was a very good judgement. Next time, when you come to Kyoto, I'll have to get good luck charms for Jake and Emma. Hope to see you again this time in Kyoto. Keep in contact. Thank you. Give my best regards to Chit.
Despite the rain on our visit, Masaki was able to make our trip to Kyoto a very unique experience. On day one we toured 6 beautiful temples by taxi. On the second day we ventured by train down to Nara to experience 2 additional temples, the national park and enjoy delicious noodles. On day 3, he took us on a beautiful walking tour of the river to see the Cherry Laurels turning, followed by a coffee and dessert. His historical background was a terrific asset and provided us a deeper understanding of the local culture and heritage.
Dear David and Kay Thank you for sending me a review. I'm very glad that you had good experiences and memories. On our first day we had rain but on the other two days we were blessed with the favorable weather. After your tour Japan was hit by two typhoons and the first one hit Kyoto, damaging Kyoto Arashiyama district. Some parts were damaged. It took place after two days you left Kyoto. You were fortunate to see the last beautiful Arashiyama. Hope your business will be successful. Give my best regards to Kay. She is a elegant, sophisticated lady. I liked both of you.
We are a group of eight who are first timers in Japan and we are privileged to have Mr Masaki as our guide. He is organized, thorough ,humorous and flexible. There was a storm when we arrived in Osaka. However ,despite the rains and winds, Mr Masaki met us at the train station and accompanied us in our train rides and made sure we reached our hotel safely. He properly briefed us on the changes of our tour schedule due to bad weather. He did his best to show us places which were possible to visit despite a stormy day. Today he took us to Kyoto and showed us amazing ,historical places. Mr. Masaki patiently explained to us the background and importance of these places. His profound knowledge of Japan's history made us understand and appreciate better Japanese culture and people. His kno... read more
Dear Lori, Thank you very much for sending me a warm message. I'm very happy to have shared a great time with you and your members. Everybody is nice and warm and helpful. In spite of the typhoon for the first two days, we could carry out our plan. Without your great cooperation our tour didn't go smooth like this. Again I would like to express thanks for your kind assistance. Come again to Japan. Next time I am making much more exciting plan for you.
Not only we found the best tour guide but we also found a Friend!! Masaki is knowledgeable, patience, organized. He loves what he does, and it's his best asset. We learned a lot from Masaki, the history of Japan, religion, also life philosophy! My husband and I are world travelers, we hired a lot of tour guides for our trips. So far Masaki is the Best.
Hello Theresia, Glad to hear of your safe return. Today it's rainy in Japan. As a matter of fact, after the tour with you, we've had rain almost every day. Besides, next week we are going to have a typhoon. So you were very lucky. Thank you for your encouraging message about our tour. This is the moment when I feel I love this job, I feel I live and I still contribute to society and promote friendship with foreign people. Come back to Japan. I'll be very happy to share time with you again. Goodbye for now. Masaki
We had a wonderful walking tour of Nara during our recent cruise of Japan. Masaki is a fantastic guide. He was so helpful and patient, sending us explicit instructions on how to take the train from Kobe--complete with pictures. Nara is beautiful, and Masaki was very informative, answering our many questions. He took us to a wonderful little restaurant for an authentic Japanese lunch. I had also asked if he could recommend a restaurant in Kobe where we could get Kobe beef, and he actually went there the day before our tour and sent me a picture of his recommendation--it was delicious. We would highly recommend Masaki.
Dear Nancy, Thank you for giving me a warm message. It was a great pleasure to have guided you around Nara. Kasuga Taisya Shrine, Nigatudo Hall, Sangatudo Hall, and Todaiji Temple. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed this ancinet city. Yes, the restaurant we went to is not well known for tourists but it is very popular with local people. You didn't have much time to go around Kyoto and Nara. But next time you come to Japan, visit Kyoto. I'm sure that you will be attracted to it. Looking forward to seeing you again. Say hello to your husband. Masaki
Masaki is a pro - he is knowledgeable, well prepared and has excellent communication skills. He is amicable and personable. He is flexible and very agreeable. We have originally booked a tour to go to KUrashihki for 30/9. Then we found out that there was a special exhibition of Ukiyo-e Paintings opening at the Sagawa Art Museum in Shiga prefecture on 30/9. We requested a change of tour just 2 days in advance. Masaki was quick to respond and showed no hesitation in agreeing to our request. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity of seeing this very important exhibition. We deeply appreciated the professional service of Masaki and would highly recommend his service to anyone who is interested in history and Japanese culture. He has stories to tell and is very good at story telling... read more
Dear Angela, In this tour, I was very pleased and happy. I thanked to God for giving me an opportunity to meet you. New encounters with people are not accidental but inevitable things, which is my strong belief. Although I met you for the first time, I felt that you are an old friend of mine. Probably this is partly because we live in the same age and the same air in this life. There is a term which I like ; Good Old Days. I felt the same feelings in this tour with you. You are elegant and sophisticated. All your members are friendly and warm. This was an unforgettable tour for me. There are beautiful places everywhere in Japan. Now I'm going to exploit new fascinating places from now on. I'll give you information anytime. Say hello to Sam, Brian and Theresa. Hope G... read more
Masaki met us at the hotel. He was very prompt. He is very detailed in letting the client know where we were going. He enjoys telling about each of the places. The Floating Gardens was a true highlight. He took many pictures on the tour which he later emailed to us for us to enjoy and remember the day. He tried very hard to find us food places since we do not eat fish or vegetables. Masaki has great energy in walking. He is very dedicated to his work. He sent us a detailed plan for the next day when we would go to Kobe.
Dear Lynn and Neol, Thank you so much for sending me the great review. I'm very happy to know that you were satisfied with the tour with me. Considering your age and Neol's physical conditions, I should have used a taxi in Osaka. Sorry for that. It was so hot in the morning in Osaka that he might have been exhausted. But thanks to your cooperation, Osaka tour was made smoothly. You are active and have a adventurous spirit and strong curiosity. Your positive attitudes made me inspired. Hope you will have wonderful tours in Japan. Masaki
Masaki has been our guide throughout our 7 day tour from Kyoto to Osaka. All the places he took us to on his suggestions were simply great! We must give credit to him for being a helpful, considerate, friendly, energetic and very knowledgeable (in Japanese history) guide. Apart from the mentioned, he is one great photographer too - taking pictures for us wherever we go. With that being said - I must thank him for being one hardworking photographer! Beside being a good guide, Masaki is also a great foodie guide - giving and taking us to the best restaurants and eating places with reasonable prices. We have been so ever grateful and happy that he's taken us to a Yuka restaurant and 'standing' bars for some really good, authentic Japanese food and sake. Masaki is also a caring gui... read more
Thank you for sending me a good message. Seven day tour was my first experience. Thanks to your leadership and cooperation, our tour ended in success. I never forget smiles of your members. The first, second days were nearly cancelled because of the typhoon. But God helped us to continue our tour. How about meditation experience in Mt. Koya? And did you enjoy boat cruising in Omihachiman Creek. Probably these places are not well known to foreign people. I think you were satisfied with these new sightseeing spots. Yes, there are various unknown spots. Why don't you explore new frontiers? Hope to see you again.
Masaki was really helpful in every way. He joined us for a great day in Mt Koya and showed us all the special places it had to offer. His knowledge of all things spiritual with regard to Buddhism and Shintoism was very impressive. He was able to give us such detail whenever we asked about specific things we saw. This was no easy task as he did this amongst century old structures with no writing or vague signage. His depth of historical knowledge was truly served well at Mt Koya for there is just so much around you there that one can only appreciate when you understand it's significance. Beyond all this Masaki was able to get us to so many events in such short periods of time that we ended up with a far more rewarding day than had we we tried to organize things ourselves. He even stayed wi... read more
Hello Everett, Yes, it was a great day indeed. Mt. Koya is one of my favorite places I would like to guide. This is because I'm interested in seated meditation. I've practiced chi exercise for 20 years. The breathing method of zen meditation and ajikan meditation in Mt, Koya is almost the same as I've done for all these years. Everett, now you know how to practice ajikan meditation. From now on succession is important than anything else. I know you are very busy but practice meditation every day and corporate the custom into your daily life. I'm sure you will be happy mentally and physically through it. Hope for your great success. Masaki
Masaki san is possesses the natural ability to make you feel at ease when you go places with him. His thorough knowledge of historic sites is only rivaled by his skill to make you feel welcome and at home. We enjoyed every minute of his tour and company. Visiting Uji Byodon temple was amazing and full of discoveries, strolling along the river and into Fushimi Inari was really nice, Sanjusangendo Hall was described in detail by Masaki and a nice traditional lunch was enjoyed with him. When we came back to japan, we'll make sure we contact Masaki again for another tour with him.
Hello Anastacio, You came back home safely, didn't you. How about your tour in Japan? I wanted to guide Uji temple and shrine for a long time. So this was a great time for me. New experiences and discoveries always stimulate and excite us. For a long time I went around almost the same route in Kyoto so that I may not commit an error. But while looking at your happy faces, I came to think I also need new discoveries even if I take a risk. So this was a very important tour for me. I had new experiences this time as you did. Thank you again for sharing your precious time with you. Hope to see you again.
Where to even begin… My sister and I booked this tour knowing we would only be visiting for a short time and wanting to get as much in as possible. We came to Japan from Los Angeles and stayed in Tokyo for a week before heading to Kyoto. Prior to the tour we exchanged emails with Masaki and he couldn't have been more helpful and easy to coordinate with. He sent us a list of temples, shrines, and activities, shared our itinerary, and even reminded us to wear easy shoes that could slip on and off (a very helpful tip). The day started early as we met up with Masaki at the Kyoto train station - our meeting place was very easy to locate and he recognized us immediately. Just like our email exchange, Masaki was incredibly gracious, organized and excited to start our day. We began by goin... read more
Hi Olivia, Thank you very much for your heartwarming message. It makes me happy, encouraged, and inspired. This is the best moment when I think I’m glad to be a tour guide. Probably you return to your ordinary life now. You are pretty busy, so I hope this tour will refresh and revive you. You and Louisa were so cooperative that I enjoyed myself walking, guiding, and talking a lot with you. In addition, I had a new experience this time. Eating lunch with a lot of students at the university restaurant. Unless I had guided you, I wouldn’t have thought of doing such a thing. Your cooperation and encouragement made it possible. Again I express thanks to you. Say hello to Louisa. Looking forward to seeing you again.
Let me just start by saying - Masaki is amazing!! My husband, son, and I spent two days with Masaki - one in Nara and the other in and around Hiroshima. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience. All made possible by Masaki! He took us to places that we would never have found on our own and we learned so much about Japanese culture. Masaki is fun, funny, interesting and probably the best guide that we've ever had. We wish that we could have taken him on the rest of our trip with us. Maybe next time! It's clear that Masaki loves what he is doing and I highly recommend taking a tour with him if you can!! Thank you, Masaki! Our trip would not have been the same without you!
Glad to hear from you, Bryn. Is everybody all right? I hope all of you will be fine. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed your tour very much, probably more than you. I don’t know why, but when I was with you, I could propose new experiences one after another. I was usually prudent in guiding people to a new place. But you tour changed my mind. At the local stand bar, you made friends with local people. From now on I am going to introduce new places positively. It will help to open a new world for me and above anything else, my guests have more opportunities to enjoy Japan. Please tell your son to come to Japan again and practice zen meditation with me. Looking forward to seeing you again.
we enjoyed our day with Masaki. He was willing to fit in all the sites we wanted to see in both Nara and Kyoto in one day. Our arrival time changed and he adjusted and helped us work out train schedules to meet him in Nara. He gave us details of each site and shared a lot of history and information of Buddhism. He is a happy and very pleasant guide to spend a day with. He knew all the transportation details to traveling quickly. We highly recommend him.
Hi Julie You and your doctor son came too late in the midnight at 2:00 a.m. But you were at Nara Station at nine. In addition you walked a lot from morning to late afternoon. You are really a superwoman and a superman. Yes, I enjoyed pretty much with you. One thing I repented of was to take you to a good restaurant on the spot. Sorry. Please forgive me. Next time I will take you a good restaurant. Come to Kyoto again. I'm looking forward to seeing you.
We booked tours of Nara and Kyoto with Mr. Masaki. He has a wealth of knowledge about the area and Japanese history. He walked us through the history from the Sixth century to Twelve century. There were eight people in our group, five adults and three children; everyone enjoyed the tours a lot. If you need a tour guide, we strongly recommend Mr. Masaki.
Hi Tri Thank you for giving me an encouraging message. I'm very glad that you all enjoyed this tour. I love all your members. You are good, sincere, and cooperative. I was inspired by your little boys and a girl who were listening to my words seriously. I hope we will meet again somewhere in Japan or in the U.S. Goodbye for now. I never forget you.
Masaki was full of information even before our tour. He would email me information before our trip, and it made me more excited and anxious! He also provided us with cooling gel pads for myself and my daughter! He also took into consideration the weather, and adjusted our itinerary to make things more convenient! Thank you so much for everything Masaki! We really appreciate everything, and look forward to seeing you again on our next trip to Japan!!
Gretchen, Thank you very much for your warm message. How about is your daughter? Is she all right now. July is a little severe for a little girl indeed. We met for the first time in Osaka. But it seemed to me that your family and I were old friends. I missed you in Nara this time. So come to my place in Spring or Autumn. I'll take you to Mt. Yoshino. And I also take to Kurashiki for your good memories. Looking forward to seeing you again. If I have a chance to visit Hawaii with my wife, I'll contact you. Give my best regards to your husband.
Masaki's personality is very easy going and joyful. He is very knowledgeable of all the historical sites and the long history of Japan. He went out of his way to allow us to experience much in an effiecient amount of time. We enjoyed our long day with Masaki.
Hello, John Thank you for your heartful message. Thank you for giving me a lot of information about North Carolina. Listening to your talk, I imagined how beautiful your place is! The tour with you was only one day, but I felt it was a fruitful day for us. You are interested in Japanese culture, Zen spirituality. I enjoyed guiding you all the day. Please say hello to your wife and Steve. Hope to see you some day. Contact me anytime.
I'm going to go with greatest tour guide. Masaki does a lot of research before the tour starts and goes to the sites beforehand to get more knowledge about the locations that will be visited. He is also very knowledgeable about history and religion. If your looking for a great tour guide with an affordable rate than go with Masaki.
Eric Thank you for your greatest review. As a matter of fact, I was surprised to see the list of your destinations. Most of them were unfamiliar to me. But thank to you I had a chance to go to the places I didn't know. You are curious and aggressive to know Japanese culture. I was happy to share my experiences with you. I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Thank you again.
His good command of english language help us understand many things about history, culture and way of life in Japan. He was readily very helpful during our 3 days together. A cheerful and a very fine gentleman.
Ramon, thank you for your thoughtful review. As a matter of fact, I was very happy to guide you around Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara for three days. I never forget happy smiles of your family. Your smiles made me encouraged and inspired. I really appreciate your family's cooperation with this tour.
Masaki-san is a wonderful guide. He is gentle and friendly. I booked Masaki-san as my guide for a two day walking tour. I had only vague ideas about Nara. He is knowledgeable. I learned so much about Buddhism, Shintoism, and Japan's ancient history. He also told me about the difference between Kyoto and Nara. His explanation is well organized and convincing. I could understand the significance of building Horyuji temple and the introduction of Buddhism. I could see temples and shrines in a different way. He also taught me how to distinguish Buddha statues. Amazing and fantastic! After spending two days with him, I learned how to recognize Buddha statues. He loves Nara. He loves people. He is a professional guide. Thank you, Masaki.
I chose Mr. Masaki because his profile indicated he had taught history for 30 years and being a history buff I figured he was the right choice for me. I was not disappointed! He was a wealth of knowledge about the history of Nara and its surroundings. One of my interests recently has been the history of Buddhism in Japan and Mr. Masaki was able to provide me details which would be difficult to access otherwise. I also found him to be very polite and courteous. Overall, it was a great experience.
Dear Pavel, Thank you for writing the review of my tour. I am very happy to know you enjoyed the tour. But I also had a great time with you because you are interested in historical matter. You play Japanese fencing kendo. And you know a lot about Japanese martial art. You have samurai spirit.
Masaki was fantastic! He was professional and knoledgable, I was pleased with him. The transportation was smooth and all the spots he took me were wonderful. I would like to visit Japan again. I would hire him next time in Kyoto.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. I'm so happy that you could enjoy Nara so much. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Kyoto next time. Good-bye for now.
Would recommend the Nara tour. No worries about what's worth seeing or how to get from point A to point B. Itinerary was all planned out and pretty much spot on for what I wanted to see. Hearing the history and stories behind the places you visit definitely gives a deeper appreciation/understanding. Masaki knows his stuff and was really enthusiastic about sharing what he knew. A pleasure to spend the afternoon with him. Thanks Masaki!
Dear Chris. Thank you for your warmest review of your tour in Nara Park. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed Nara tour. I had a great time with you today. Your deep interest in Buddhism and Shintoism surprised me. But I'm sure it enhanced the pleasure of your tour today. Thank you again for your good cooperation. Goodbye for now. Hope to see you again.
