We were in Osaka on April 11 for 1 day from a cruise ship. Zumi (Takehiko said to call him Zumi) was waiting for us at 0815 when we got out of the cruise terminal after doing immigration. I had arranged a day tour for 4 people, 1 of whom was 90 years old and who was unable to walk long distances. Our minivan was great and set up with a wheelchair. This had not been requested by me but was just wonderful. I did not realise that this tour involved a lot of walking and without the wheelchair we would have not all been able to “see the sights”. Zumi insisted on being the wheelchair “pusher” the entire day even though the distances were quite long and involved a couple of very steep hills that had to be climbed. He was fantastic. We visited Nara and saw lots of Sika deer, the most beautiful Buddhist temple and had morning tea in the museum. We then returned to Osaka and visited Osaka Castle. It is magnificent and in beautiful grounds. We all had a great day and agreed it was one of the best tours we have ever done.
We had a great day with Takehiko (Zumi-san). We left the itinerary up to him as we had previously seen some of the more easily accessible Kyoto sights. He took us out to Senzen-in, a temple in Ohara and also at our request, to a private garden that had the most spectacular display of blooming Sakura trees. He’s a great guide, highly recommend
Zumi-San was very helpful. We had a little confusion as to the area of the meeting place but once we had it sorted out, Zumi-san was the perfect aide. He helped us with our luggage cart and even guided us when we got our rail pass. We also hired Zuni-San for our shuttle to back to the airport and everything went smoothly. It helped that Zumi-San could speak English and was able to understand our needs. He also had great recommendations on places to go for sightseeing and places to eat. A perfect driver and guide.
