Hiroshi was an excellent guide and was well prepared. He was very friendly and very good English. The tour was informative and entertaining.
We are so happy we chose Hiroshi for our tour of Tokyo. We were on a Millenium cruise of Japan and decided the ship’s excursion didn’t match our wish list. Hiroshi met us at the dock in Yokohama and traveled with us by train and metro to Tokyo. That morning Tokyo had heavy showers, so he instantly altered our agenda to go to two very interesting museums, one on Sumo wrestling and the other on Edo-Tokyo. When the rain stopped at noon and we resumed our agenda. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in a traditional restaurant, free of tourists. Tokyo’s metro system is huge, modern and a wonderfully efficient way to see Tokyo, but it is complex and we were so happy to have Hiroshi lead the way. He is fun, has a great sense of humor, and gave great insight into the culture and history. He is very well traveled and has very excellent English. We saw more in 9 hours than we could have if we traveled with the ships tour or on our own. Even with just two of us, it was much more economical to hire Hiroshi for the day than to take the 6 hour tour offered by the ship. I highly recommend Hiroshi for a private tour in Tokyo or Yokohama.
We enjoyed our Hakone day trip with Hiro. He is funny, knowledgeable and easy to have conversation with. His command of English is excellent, which helped a lot while he shared his knowledge about Japanese history. The weather wasn’t great on our day of visit to Hakone, but the excellent Open Air Museum made up for the bad weather. Thank you Hiro!
Even before meeting us, Hiroshi starts helping us with our Japan tour, not to bring to much luggage, having a look after our not-so-easy-to-find appartment. Was there before time, well prepared. It was cherry blossom and full moon high season, so whole Japan was happy in pink and out. We find our way in the imperial garden to the former castle, learning a lot about history and different signs on roof tiles. We visit a shrine, learning to clean ourself with water in the right ceremonial way. Having a quick lunch with Hiroshi and heading for the all-are-going-crossing, where our guide take an artistic picture of us in the middle of the crowd from a point at one of the skyscrapers. Thank you for that. Than Kamakura, going by train and using the old tram, learning, how to queue up like the Japanese. The Buddha was surrounded by cherry blossoms so nicely, even new for Hiroshi. He showed us the gigantic sandals of Buddha, we for sure had overlooked ourself. Hiroshi guided us at least to our train back to Tokyo, and when we were in savely, we give him a wave and he took us a bow in his noble and friendly way.
Hiroshi-san showed us around Tokyo during a full day tour. He came to pick us up at our hostel, early, and we saw Tsukiji Hongan-ji temple, Tsukiji market, had lunch at a very nice sushi restaurant, visited the Hokusai art museum, the Fukagawa Edo museum, and the Sumo museum near the stadium complete with a visit to the Sumo clothing store. So you can see that you should prepare for a full day of walking and learning! Hiroshi-san is very knowledgeable about all the history of the places we visited and can answer almost all of your questions. He adapted the tour to our specific interests when we exchanged emails prior to the trip and even prepared tour materials in English to give to us about other places we were planning on visiting on other days in Japan. He put in alot of effort to make sure he is very knowledgeable on the sights of Japan. I would recommend taking his tour, especially early in your trip so he can help you get your bearings in the country. We enjoyed our day with Hiroshi-san.
