Hello, I'm HIDEo YOSHIda. Please call me HIDEYOSHI, the same name as the famous shogun who built the Osaka Castle in 1585.
I was born in Kobe and worked in Osaka for nearly 40 years. I would like to introduce the Kansai region to you ,including Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Wakayama.
Kobe is one of the two largest ports in Japan, along with Yokohama. After the opening of the Port of Kobe in 1868, foreigners built their residences on the hillside of the Kitano-cho area, overlooking the ocean. Many of the foreign residences are now open to the public as museums, including the Weathercock House, with it's symbol weathercock on the triangle-shaped roof.
In Meriken Park, the red Port Tower (the city's landmark), creates a beautiful contrast against the white Kobe Marine Museum. The museum's design was inspired by the waves and sailing ships.
When you have a chance to visit Osaka, please join my tour. I'm sure you'll enjoy the interesting and historical, scenic spots. For example, Shin-Sekai is a downtown area with a strange mix of nostalgic atmosphere and contemporary energy. You can try local foods (kushikatsu, sushi, tempura) at a reasonable price. Billiken (a famous statue of the spirit of luck) will be waiting for you!!. Dotombori is a popular street with a lot of flashy signboards. Osaka is widely known as a "Kuidaore-no-machi", or literally "drinking and eating luxuriously to death." Osaka Castle was built by Toyotomi HIDEYOSHI in 1585. Oh, it's my residence, isn't it !
These days "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" area in USJ, or Universal Studios Japan, is also attracting more and more people.
I'll be looking forward to seeing you !!

Hideo was a super tour guide! We booked professional tours through the cruise ship at other destinations, and this tour was very comparable to those, at a fraction of the cost. I can highly recommend Hideo, based on this experience. I helped to organize the tour with Hideo for a group from Cruise Critic, that ended up being 25 people. Hideo consolidated all of the costs (travel, entry fees, lunch, etc) into a total fee, and Hideo took care of arranging and planning everything. He met us at the pre-arranged time on the dock and had us back to the dock on schedule. The original plan was to use local public transportation, but Hideo organized private transportation using a comfortable bus, due to the size of the group and concerns about keeping everyone together. Hideo also offer... read more
Hi Todd I'm very happy to receive your message. All of you kept time, so I could move ahead on the schedule. I'd like to show you the appreciation. I wish you every happiness. I hope to see you again. Thank you, Todd.
A group of six adults had arranged for Hideo to meet us at the ship and take us to the castle and adjoining gardens and then go on the rope way above the town. We found to our disappointment that Hideo had no interest in the group. He rarely volunteered any information, but did have some answers if we persisted with questions. One of our party was using a walkingstick and he showed no interest in her well-being, particularly in the fact that there were so many flights of steps which we had to do barefooted. At no stage did he check whether she was all right with this or whether she would have preferred to head back downstairs before reaching the top. He would walk ahead of us and not wait to see if we were all together. At one stage he took off across a busy road to make inquiri... read more
Dear Sandy I awfully sorry to say that I troubled you. I gave the itinerary to you when I met you, so I thought that where we would go next. First I was going to have lunch in Koukoen Garden but the restaurant was full, so temporarily I seperated to look for another restaurants but I couldn't find it. I'd like to take your point seriously and I'll make use of this experienc moving forward. Thank you, Sandy.
Hideo was a real find. Our group of 6 engaged him to escort and guide us around Osaka, with transportation and sightseeing through Nara and three days of touring in Kyoto. We found him to be very personable and articulate. Hideo was extremely knowledgeable about each of these destinations, as well as how to navigate them and avoid the crowds. He went above and beyond to make what was a first trip to Japan for most of us to be memorable. Hideo ensured that each of our tours were comprehensive and there was very little that we did not see. We were also pleased with his dining recommendations. We would highly recommend Hideo to anyone seeking a guide and hope to one day enlist his services again.
Hi Ellen I'm very happy to receive your message. It was the peak season of cherry blossom viewiing, so we could enjoy beautiful cherry blosoms at Nara Todaiji Temple, and Nijo Castle, Arashiyama and Maruyama Park in Kyoto. Furhermore I ran into you at Kochi Castle because you were aboard in Celebrity Millennium Cruise ship and I guided another guests aboard in Westerdam Cruise Ship. I wish you enjoy Japan trip and every happiness. I hope to see you again. Thank you, Ellen. Best HIDEo Yoshida
As a private group of 6 individuals on a tightly scheduled vacation, we had requested an 8-hour customized itinerary that would allow us to visit the top 4 attractions in Kyoto and allow us to travel from Tokyo via Shinkansen and return the same evening. We had also requested Hideyoshi-san to arrange a private taxi/van for us as we wanted to spend more time at the sites versus navigating public transport. Thanks to some meticulous itinerary planning and excellent arrangements by Hideyoshi-san, we had a wonderful trip visiting all 4 attractions in 8 hours - Kinkakuji Temple, Nijo Castle, Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Fushimi Inari with plenty of time to explore each one while throwing in a sumptuous Japanese lunch in between. He was very knowledgable about each of the sites and the region, i... read more
Hi Anushila I'm very happy to receive your heartful message. I'm relieved that you enjoyed Japan trip and I enjoyed guiding all of you, too. I hope to see you again. Thank you. From HIDEo YOSHIda
We booked an afternoon tour with Hideo, but unfortunately I had an accident as our tour was to begin. Hideo went above and beyond what any guide would do, meeting us at the hospital, arranging transport and even returning the next day to help us make it onto our train on time. Words cannot express how indebted to him we are for his help. You won't find a more compassionate human to spend time with in Japan.
HI Chris I'm sure you recover from an injury. I'm looking forward to seeing you next time. The best of health to you. Thank you. From HIDEo YOSHIda
