We had the most lovely morning with Mayumi. She arrived to meet us at our hotel and immediately helped us to understand where we were and how to get around the city. She took us to a cool observation deck and explained all about the city. Then she gave us a fun and interesting tour around Senso-ji shrine. She helped us plan our trip, answered questions and was really lovely to spend time with. We really enjoyed our time with Mayumi and would recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, well informed and fun tour guide. Thank you Mayumi!
Mayumi made our introduction to Tokyo a truly memorable one. She helped us to craft a great itinerary, navigate public transport, get our bookings sorted for intercity travel later in our trip and organised some alternative experiences during the day when the weather turned. Mayumi is a very charming and informative guide. Thanks for a great day.
Thank you very much for your swift review, Colin. We had a great day because of your patience in a rainy and windy day as a typhoon was approaching Tokyo. I really appreciate it. It seems that you’ll have consecutive fine days during the rest of your stay in Japan. But please take sufficient precaution against intense heat as it may be too hot and humid for you. I’ll never forget your beautiful smile that made me happy in the tea ceremony experience. I hope your trip to Japan will be filled with beautiful memories. Please give my love to Robyn.
We had a great time touring Tokyo with Mayumi and getting adjusted on our first day. Though it was quite hot and humid, Mayumi planned a great day for us knowing that our itinerary the next day included a cycling tour of the city, so there was no overlap. We saw a number of historical and cultural sites and Mayumi was able to keep us informed of its significance in Japanese history. We got along quite well and if we find ourselves back in Tokyo, I will not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your good review, Jon. I was worried about your remaining days in Tokyo because it was too hot. But I remember that I felt a little relief as the day you attended the cycling tour was not so hot as I’d expected. I’m sure you had great days in Japan. Now that I know how vigorous your family are, I can suggest several adventures throughout Japan. Please come back to me, and I’ll help you explore the hidden places according to your interests. Looking forward to your reaching out to me again!
Mayumi is an excellent, experienced guide. She helped in planning the itinerary after learning a bit about us, —3 young men traveling with their grandfather. She sensed quickly our pace and what interests we had. Amazing, interactive, excellent English, could not ask for a better guide. She gave us the detail of each place, but only what she knew we would want, not exhaustive and never boring. She carefully picked our lunch site from many she could have chosen, and suggested we eat one evening at the Banya on the 49th floor of a building near our hotel. She also remembered my previous request before the trip for directions the next day after our full, fun, factual and fabulous tour of much of Tokyo.
Thank you so much for posting your kind and fabulous review amid your long journey. It was a great nine-hour tour. I’m impressed at how vigorously you all could walk all the way during the tour. I can imagine you are enjoying each spot on your cruise now. How was the festival you were looking forward to attending? That must have been exciting. I’m reading the book you wrote everyday on my way to pick up my guest on a train. Mysteriously enough, I feel that my mind gets peaceful thanks to your words. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to pause and take a closer look at myself. I do want to see you again. To dive with your grandsons is also added to my dream list. Thank you again and say hello to them.
Mayumi was a knowledgeble and friendly tour guide. I went on two half day tours. The first day, she took me around to see the a Budahhist temple, Tsukiji Fish Market, Hama-rikyu Gardens (with a DIY tea ceremony experience), then Odaiba to have a delicious Japanese lunch in a restaurant overlooking Tokyo Bay. The next day, we saw "old Japan", east side. We went to Asakusa and saw the famous Sensoji Temple, did some shopping along the shops leading to the entrance, then visited a local store with Japanese goods. Afterwards, we visited a fun plastic food store, "Replica Foods " in the kitchenware district. This was follwed by a delicious lunch of okonomiyaki & hiroshimayaki. Mayumi took great care of creating a great itinerary for me to see much of what Tokyo has to offer.
Thank you so much for your detailed and wonderful review, Nicole. They were great two day tours in spite of the intense heat. I can’t believe our tour was over all too soon. I realized that time flies like an arrow when I’m having a good time. I still have a lot of things I’d like to show you in and outside Tokyo. I’m looking forward to our next adventure. See you again.
We spend our first day in Tokyo with Mayumi and she was a truly splendid guide for both myself, my wife and our two kids (11 and 8).
Thank you so much for writing a good review for me. Whenever I go to Asakusa, the goldfish scooping shop reminds me of your kids. Though it was amid the intense heat in summer, we enjoyed the whole day seeing and experiencing as much as possible. What’s the most impressive for me is your kids’ smile. Thank you for giving me the happy memories!
Fabulous and more! Mayumi was so adaptable to changes we asked at the last minute. She kept us on track and the time flew bye. Our family wished we'd booked her for longer. An absolute treasure.
Nancy, thank you for writing a great review for me. That evening tour was so exciting! Thank you for everything. You were lucky enough to encounter the local summer festival in Shimbashi. And the dinner we had was fabulous and I really enjoy being a member of your family. I wish I could have been with you longer. Please say hello to Frank, Christopher, and Francesca.
Despite foggy and drizzly weather, Mayumi gave us a wonderful tour punctuated with historical footnotes and insights into Tokyo life. We had three generations on her tour and everyone agreed afterwards that we wished we could do an additional day with her! Cheryl,Lew,Joey,Jeni,Nancy,Holly and Chanin
Thank you so much for writing a wonderful review, everyone! I’ll never forget your party, which consists three generations of pleasant people. I was concerned about your trip to other areas of Japan because of the weather. How was the temple of Kyoto? I guess you could appreciate the beauty of moss-covered dry landscape garden of Saiho-ji Temple. I wish I could be with you longer. Please say hello to everyone. See you someday again!
We had a wonderful day with Mayumi. She showed us the important sights in Tokyo. She was very pleasant and accommodating. Thank you Mayumi.
Thank you for posting the good review. I hope you were having great days in Japan. I well remember how hot when we were in Asakusa but you were eager to learn many things. I really appreciate it. If possible, come to Japan again in another season to enjoy different beauty of our city. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me someday. Please say hello to your family. Thank you again!
Mayumi was prompt, energetic , informative, and flexible enough to maneuver slight changes we made to our itinerary. We wanted to hire her another day but she was booked up for the rest of the month. We had a terrific day with her! Will definitely have our friends use her when they go to Tokyo.
Thank you for writing such a great review for me, Louise. Though it was a super hot day, we enjoyed walking around the city. I wish I could have guided you another day too. I still have lots of places where I can entertain you. Please come back to me again. I’ll keep researching shops and restaurants for you. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity. Give my best regards to your sweet husband. Thank you again.
We had a wonderful time with Mayumi! She had setup a tour for us to go see quite a few places but we had too much fun trying food at Tsukiji Fish Market, enjoying the tour at Imperial Palace, and Asakusa. If we had more time we would definitely book another tour with her again. Thank you!!
Thank you for posting the good review amid your busy travel. I was so happy to be with you. I'm so impressed by Ethan's patience. Did you notice that his smile made everybody smile. I'd be happy if we'd spend some time together again. I'll be careful not to overdo next time. Please do come back to me someday! Thank you.
The tour with maumi was spectacular it was so good we definitely recommend our friends to enjoy the day with maumi. She was professional, polit.and very nice behavior Thank you maumi From ori and arin sterenfeld ❤️
We are a family of four with two girls ages 11 and 15. We spent three wonderful days in Tokyo with Mayumi. She planned a very well-balanced itinerary for us that included a great mix of old and new Japanese culture. Mayumi was always on time, super-energetic and kind. Her English is excellent and she is flexible and accommodating. I would highly recommend her to anyone travelling to Tokyo!
Thank you so much for posting such a great review, Lourdes. I do appreciate your sharing the wonderful three days with me. I enjoyed all the conversation we had during the tour too. I’ll never forget your family. I guess girls are enjoying summer camp and you’ve got back to the busy days. Please say hello to them and take care. I believe we’ll meet again! Thank you!!
My friend and I were totally thrilled with Mayumi. She was prompt and professional. Her suggestions were all perfect. We felt totally at ease and her knowledge of Japanese history and art made our visit very meaningfull. We concidered venturing out on our own and are so glad we decided to go with Mayumi. It was wonderful day full of great things.
Thank you so much for your great review, Diane. I’m happy you really enjoyed the tour. I was taught a lot of things by you during the tour. Thank you, my teacher. I saw the pictures you’d taken. They are amazing! I recognized anew that you are a great artist. I can imagine you are having a good time and discovering beautiful things with your different eyes in Takayama and Kyoto. Please take care and see you again. Say hello to Mary, please. Thank you!
Mayumi has all the qualities of a great and professional guide: her punctuality, knowledge about Tokyo, flexibility and her sweet personality make her one of the best guide we ever had.
Thank you so much for those kind words, Samuel. I was very happy that they were open to anything and eager to experience different things. I felt something warm and sweet when I saw their smile in the hedgehog café. Your sons are so gentle and polite, which made our tour more enjoyable. I do want to be your guide someday again. Thank you.
Mayumi San is a lovely, fun person with great English and knowledge about Tokyo. My 17 year old son and I spent 2 fantastic days ( Mon and Wed) being taken about Tokyo by Mayumi. The first day was in typhoon weather but still thoroughly enjoyable, due to Mayumi’s delightful personality and the thrill of being in this awesome city. She changed the schedule to better suit the weather and we ended up doing some specialised shopping ( very small shoes and retro gaming stuff) on our first day in Ginza and Akihabara, as well as Tsukiji fish market and managing to purchase tickets for DisneySea, thanks to Mayumi’s help. This experience was incredibly successful for both my son and myself and Mayumi was so cheerful and patient. Everything would have taken twice as long if we’d done it by ourselves, therefore we really maximised our limited time. We ate 2 lovely meals at lunch time, including Okinomiyaki, cooked in front of us. I was very glad to have a second day with Mayumi San going to the Sky Tree where we truly got a measure of the vastness of Tokyo, and then contrast that with nearby Asakusa. We saw Mario Car drivers going through Shibuya Crossing, Harajuku and Ometesando Hills. We ran out of time to see Meiji Shrine due to looking for another shop for my son. But we followed Mayumi’s recommendation to go on the weekend as we would be likely to see a wedding, and we did indeed! I wpuld recommend this service and Mayumi San as a guide in a heartbeat. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mayumi San. You will be amused to hear that I went to Diana in Harajuku, and added another 5 pairs to my collection. Total 15 shoes fitted into my luggage!
Sonja-san! I can’t express how I am grateful to you for your writing such a wonderful and heartwarming review. I can’t go back to Ginza without remembering your shopping in Diana. I’ve never met a person who bought that many shoes. Now I’m even more surprised to know that you added 5 more! Amazing!! I’m really happy you totally enjoyed your stay in Japan. I was enjoying myself wherever I went with you and Pax. Thank you for sharing those fantastic memories with me. You have to come back to Japan next year to watch the World Cup of rugby and get more shoes, maybe. I believe we can meet again soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Sonja-san. I’m looking forward to meeting you again!
Mayumi-San was fantastic. Her knowledge of multiple aspects of Japanese life, culture and history was informative and really good fun. From diverse activities such as the Meiji Shrine to the Tokyo Fish Market to Electric town Mayumi-SAN had lots of experience and knew where to go and what to see to ensure we had a great time. I will definitely be recommending her to my friends and colleagues when they visit Japan and suggest that you hire her on your next trip to Tokyo.
Excellent tour. Mayumi was wonderful with explaining everything about Tokyo to the children. She was very engaging with them and she helped us learn a lot about Tokyo. Additionally, she gave us a lot of information and insight with Tokyo mass transit with made it very easy for us to get around the city on our own for the rest of our stay in Tokyo.
Hi Pulin, thank you so much for posting the great review. You are the third largest group I’ve ever guided. But I’m so impressed how all the six kids are sensible and kind to each other. By the way, what surprised me the most is that we met again in the busy Meiji Shrine the next day. It’s next to impossible to have such reunion in the middle on the city. I couldn’t help feeling our connections. I believe we could meet again someday. Please say hello to them all!
Mayumi did a great job showing us Tokyo. We had two days with her. Our group was a family of 2 adults, 3 teens, and 1 six year old. She developed a two day itinerary based on some of the ideas we gave her plus some of her own. She picked us up at the hotel each day and expertly led us around the subway system to visit all the sites with good stops for lunch etc. She has a very pleasant way of leading the group, offering just enough information, and adjusting to the needs of everyone in our group. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the great review, Brian. It sure was pleasant days thanks to your sweet kids. We saw various aspects of Tokyo from traditional old town to the Science Museum and so on. I hope you enjoyed the last facility after I left you. It must be treasured memories to travel around with the big family. I was really happy to be with you in part of the great journey. Thank you again for finding me and give this various opportunity to me!
Mayumi connected with us right from the start and we found our common interests. She is very enthusiastic, energetic and her english is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
Thank you so much for your great review. It was quite an interesting tour thanks to your knowledge about birds. I’ve known flowers that attract many tourists but didn’t know about birds that much. I’d not noticed just how rich in nature even in the center of Tokyo is. I rediscovered another beautiful aspect of our city. I’d like to share those things with my future guests. I’ll keep on searching for birds in the city. Thank you for giving me the new pleasure! I’m looking forward to the next exploration with you.
She was really enthusiastic and took us to many great eating local places for the food tour. Highly recommended.
Thank you for posting the great review. I rediscovered more delicious street food than ever throughout Tokyo while I was doing my homework for this tour. I do appreciate your giving me such an opportunity. I’m a street food master now! I’m looking forward to the next chance. Thank you again.
Mayumi was our guide for the day for ad lib Tokyo with our two girls (21 and 18 yo). If you have never been to Tokyo (like us) I highly recommend this; the tour is what you want to do and we truly get a feel for this great city. From major city sites (Shibuya crossing, Tsukiji Fish Market, Harajuku district) to our own mini food tour (fluffy pancakes, sake, sushi ) to karaoke it was a great day. We were fortunate to have Mayumi.
I’m so happy to hear that. Nothing better than hearing that I could help you appreciate various attractions of Tokyo and make your precious day a great day. Thank you for sharing the exciting day with me. I’ll never forget the karaoke and the great singers. I loved “Price Tag” you and girls sang. That’s the best one I’ve ever heard! You are a great singer, Kenneth. Keep singing and keep on smiling!
Mayumi is extremely knowledgeable about Tokyo and Japanese culture. She was very responsive to our interests and very flexible in her approach. She speaks excellent english and was a pleasure to communicate with. We highly recommend her.
Ken-san, Thank you so much for your great review. I really enjoyed myself talking with you and your wife. I learned a lot from you. We experienced as much as possible in the four days from calm temples in Kamakura to the festival full of vigor in Tokyo. Thank you again for sharing such a wonderful time with me. You must visit beautiful rural areas where you can find authentic beauty of Japan when you come back to Japan. It’s my pleasure to guide you such places. Please say hello to your wife. I hope our paths will cross again!
Mayumi was a wonderful and cheerful guide. She made our first day in Japan absolutely great. She took us to some of the main sights in Tokyo and listened to our request to also view some more of the everyday Japanese life. She was very efficient, showed us how to get around in Tokyo and she gave us practical advice (i.e. get a Pasmo). I would recommend that every first timer in Japan a guide on the first day, and preferably Mayumi ;-)
Hi JJ, Thank you for your great review! I’m sure you’ve fully enjoyed the rest of your stay in Japan. You two are quick learners and soon became like experts of Japan. Our tour was not a long one but we had a great time to visit as many places as possible. Thank you for walking a lot in spite of your jet lag. If you have another opportunity to came to Japan, I do want to show you quite different landscape from this time. Hoping to see you again someday!!
Mayumi was the ideal city guide. She picked us up at our hotel (two days in a row, each a half-day), taught us how to navigate the public transportation system, and efficiently (and enthusiastically!) took us around to see Tokyo's highlights. With minimal input from us, Mayumi devised a "best of" itinerary that included both the modern and traditional sides of Tokyo. The pace of the tour was perfect -- fast enough to squeeze in a handful of neighborhoods on each day, but casual enough to feel comfortable stopping for photos and to explore food stalls, markets, etc. Mayumi's English is outstanding and she is well versed in Japanese history. Mayumi was knowledgeable about food, history, architecture, etc., so my sense is that she would be an ideal option regardless of the particular ages or interests of the tour group. Our time in Tokyo would not have been the same without her.
Roxane, what a kind and encouraging review this is! Thank you so much. I can’t believe those things happened only in two days because we had only four hours each day. You two looked so excited about everything I showed you that I got to want to show you more. I can imagine you were traveling around just like an expert of Japan after I left you as you learned everything so quickly. There are still countless hidden places in Japan. I’m a nature enthusiast and really into adventure. If you’d like to get some information on something special to visit, please feel free to ask me anything even if you don’t need to hire me. I’m willing to share anything I know with you. Please keep in touch! Mayumi
Mayumi was knowledgeable, prompt, thoughtful and patient. A pleasure to be with. Her English was very good and she was able to answer all our questions.
Dear Louise, thank you for posting the good review despite your tight schedule. I hope you are enjoying visiting other places too. If you have any questions or something I can help you during your stay in Japan, please feel free to ask me anything. Please give my best regards to your husband, Thank you.
Our group of 4 had a great time with Mayumi as our tour guide. She spoke english efficiently and is very open/flexible because since it was our first time in Tokyo we were clueless about destinations we wanted to visit. We finally came up with a game plan and Mayumi executed it perfectly! She met us at our hotel and waited patiently for us to come down since we came late (sorry Mayumi! We appreciate your patience with us). She is very knowledgeable and educated us about historical facts/culture of each place we visited. It made the destinations more memorable. There were times where we took more time at one destination then schedule, but Mayumi didn't rush us and was quick on her feet to make sure we would complete the tour as planned, which we did! I would definitely look up Mayumi again and recommend her to anyone who needs help getting around Tokyo. You will not regret it! She made our trip worth it and was very interactive with our group. We made a friend at the end of the day =). Thank you!!!
Thank you for posting such a great review. You don’t have to say sorry at all, Remmy. You were always concerned about everyone and kept contacting me. I really appreciate your kindness. As I told you at the beginning of our tour, I’ve never included such many places in one day. I didn’t want to make you exhausted but at the same time, I’d like to take you to every spot you mentioned. Our tour was something like an adventure😊 I’m really happy you enjoyed the adventure. We had the Golden Week soon after you got back to the US. There were so many people wherever we went. You chose a good timing. I’m always ready for next adventure with you. Please say hello to everybody! Again, thank you for everything!!
Mayumi was more like a friend showing us around town. She arrived to pick us up at our hotel promptly, kept on schedule and spoke beautiful english. My daughter and I had so much fun with her and saw so much more than we could have on our own. She kept everything fresh, which is not easy when you’ve done basically the same tour many times. I couldn’t recommend Mayumi more! If you only have one splurge on your trip to Tokyo, this should be it.
Hi Ronnie, thank you for your great review. I can’t forget the beautiful day. You discovered many beautiful things while walking through the refreshing garden. You made me rediscover the beauty of the combination of the blue sky, fresh green leaves and orange or red colored maples. I really enjoyed talking with you at the tempura restaurant too. Your smile made me so happy. I miss you and your daughter. I can imagine she is busy again reporting interesting and delicious things around the world. I’d be happy if she’d remember the day with me in Tokyo. Thank you for everything!
We had a wonderful day touring Tokyo with Mayumi. I would award her six stars. We arrived a day prior to the start of our prearranged Abercrombie & Kent “Classic Japan “ tour. In an exchange of several emails, we worked out an itinerary for our day together that wouldn’t duplicate anything in our A & K tour. Mayumi was extremely helpful in working out an excellent plan with contingencies in case of inclement weather. From the moment my wife, our two friends, and I met Mayumi in the lobby of the Tokyo Ritz Carlton, we sensed that we found a friend. Indeed we did! Riding the subway, sightseeing, having tea in a tea house in a Japanese garden and having lunch together in a noodle shop; we felt we were with a friend and not a tour guide. We learned so much from Mayumi about Japanese history, customs and culture. Our day with her was an outstanding memory as we now reflect on our great visit to Japan.
Thank you so much for posting your excellent review, Dr. Epstein. It’s honorable for me to hear that you felt I was your friend. We exactly had a great day together and I was really impressed how you’ve deeply learned Japanese history. You often helped me explain detail things about history to the ladies. I really appreciate it. At the same time, I learned a lot from you. You know a lot of things that I’ve never known. I wish I could have been with you longer and talked with you about various topics. Your kind words encourage me greatly. I’ll keep learning in order to entertain people who share their precious time with me. Dr, please come back to Japan to see your friend! Thank you again and give my best regards to your wife and friends.
Mayumi is the best guide I have ever had. She has a wealth of knowledge about Japan which she communicates effectively. She has such a pleasant personality that it is a joy to be with her. She speaks perfect English. She took us to wonderful places that we would not have seen. She is an incredible guide and we will definitely use her again! Stephanie Ricardo
Thank you so much for posting your review in the middle of your tour to the Golden Route, Stephanie. I really enjoyed talking with you and Kathleen during the tour, leisurely walking around city. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful tempura with udon at the small but very popular eatery without waiting in a line. I was happy to see you really enjoyed it. How was the hot spring in Hakone? You must have enjoyed the beautiful view of the nature in Takayama too. Please tell me about your adventure when we meet again. I’m always ready to help you. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask me anything. Thank you for everything. Please stay in good shape until we meet again.
This review is for my 2 previous tours with Mayumi. I hate to give a bad review, but here it goes. Last year, my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Tokyo. We booked a one day Tokyo tour with Mayumi. She helped us take a few photos with her phone, and promised to email us after the tour. However, until now, we never received them. With that said, we still enjoyed our time with her. Two weeks ago, we visited Tokyo again. This time, we went with our family of 4. We decided to overlook the photos issue, and booked another 8 hour tour with Mayumi again. My aunt even booked her for another 4 hours the next day. We put in very good words, and recommended Mayumi to our family. Sadly, this time around was a total disappointment. My husband and I felt really bad for giving Mayumi high recommendations to our family. We should’ve known the first time around when she didn’t send us our photos. We had 2 seniors in our group of 6, and requested Mayumi to take it slow. The tour started fine, and everyone had a good time. However, it all went downhill shortly after. Her chemistry with our group felt forced, disconnected, and at times impatient. She often separates herself from the group, and we find her walking very far ahead. Not sure what happened, or perhaps she had an off day, but the entire tour was very awkward. Furthermore, my aunt asked her to help take a few family photos. This time with my aunt’s phone. However, the photos were off-centered, and half of the people in the group wasn’t even smiling yet. What happened Mayumi? I wish you could just put in a little bit of thoughtfulness and consideration. I would have to rethink carefully whether I would book you again.
I’m so sorry for any inconvenience. I didn’t notice that my pictures had not been delivered to you at all. I thought I had sent them. I still keep the photos I took during the tour last year. I’ll try sending them to you again. If you can’t get them, please let me know. And I never intended to rush them. I tried to take a picture of them from a little far ahead. I should have explained my idea in advance. I’m so sorry. I was really happy when you remembered me and came back to me. My heart is aching as I feel how you were disappointed. I’ll keep your words in mind and try to improve my tour. Thank you for letting me know your feelings.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our tour was, how great Ms.Mayumi is from the beginning of our tailored tour, she has helped us maximize our time, and she always have a beautiful smile the whole day, she makes sure that we are enjoying and experiencing everything that we wanted. It was an incredible tour in every way, planned and executed perfectly by Ms. Mayumi, Japan is a very beautiful country and people are very warm and polite, they will really help you the best way they can when you asked for one. A country that’s home to hospitable people and delicious food. Above and beyond it exceeded my expectation in so many ways, tour is exciting, food was perfect, they serve the most delicious seafoods. We enjoyed the 3 day tailored tour with Ms.Mayumi, she is so fun to be with and very efficient in her English skills. My kids enjoyed the tour where Ms.Mayumi brought us to the Pokemon Center to purchase my daughters collection and she brought us to delicious local restaurants to experience authentic japanese food, we also went to Harajuku and ate crepes and cotton candy, She is also very kind and patient to my kids who are so moody, i also loved when she brought us to Gundam statue in Odaiba . Our trip itself was remarkable and i am so thankful to choose Ms.Mayumi to make this wonderful and memorable experience come true.
Dear Mis. Apple. I’m so happy to hear from you and really appreciate your generosity. Yes! We had great days together even though the cherry blossom has already been over. Thanks to you, I had a great opportunity to see many beautiful flowers like peonies and wisteria instead of cherry blossoms. The Shibasakura we went to see is now in full bloom and the festival site is very crowded. We went there too early but you were lucky enough to take pictures of the beautiful Mt Fuji. I’m enjoying making Shinigang now. When we meet again, I’d like to teach you how to cook some Japanese dishes. We had three fun days together but still I don’t feel it’s enough. I have more ideas and photogenic spots to show you around Japan. I’m always ready to help you. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. Say hello to your kids. I can’t forget the cute smile of Michiko-cahn! See you!
Thank you Mayimi for an action packed half day tour of Tokyo in the rain. We loved the tour and we love Tokyo. Mayimi was perfect and understood well the needs of a family with young children. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour. Thanks again. Jessica, Mitchell, Roman and Scarlett.
Thank you, Jessica for your amazingly quick review. I’m so happy that you loved my short tour and Tokyo. I love you all too. I wish I could have been with you longer. I also enjoyed myself thanks to the kids’ pleasant power despite the rain. I guess you are having great days now as it’s been so beautiful theses days. I hope you’ll enjoy every single moment and get unforgettable memories in Japan. Please tell my love to Scarlett, Roman, and Mitchell. See you.
We had a lovely time with Mayumi. she was full of energy and really showed us the excitement of Tokyo. Would definitely use Mayumi again and recommend.
Thank you, Nabeel. It was a valuable experience for me to guide a big group of Muslim tourists. Thanks to your sharing detailed information on their preference, I could entertain them well. I’m always ready to help you command a tour to Japan. See you again soon,
I booked a Tokyo tour thinking it would be a good idea for the first day to get an overview of the city and become comfortable with the trains. Now I would change that description to “essential”. Having a guide the first day was like making a friend right away in a new city. Mayumi was warm, energetic, and her English is impeccable! Her knowledge of Japanese history, botany, pop culture and transportation is bar none. She was very kind and conplementary to me and my 12-year old son. He said he wished we could hang out with her again!! Also note: I booked mayumi based on her stellar reviews, but also partly based on one criticism she got, which was walking too fast! I knew we would have to walk fast to pack in as much as we wanted to. Do yourself a favor: do not hesitate, book Mayumi for your tour of Tokyo. You will NOT be disappointed. Arigato Mayumi!!!!!
Arigato!!!!!! Michelle. I really miss you!!! Your comment made me feel like crying for gratitude. Your warm smile encouraged me to show you as many places as possible in our limited time. I was really happy that George enjoyed every single minute with me. I’ve been super busy these days and visit the garden we went together almost every day. I never go there without remembering you and George. Thank you for everything during the tour. I guess you’ve already got back to your place and returned to your daily life. I always wish you well. I do want to see you again and help you with another adventure in Japan. Please say hello to George. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. See you!
Mayume is a very friendly, cosy, knowlegeble guide which changed our itinerary many times following our requests. I would not tecommend anyone to take a bout trip if you have only 3 days in Tokyo, its consuming a lot of time which you could spend discoveing many interesting areas.
Thank you, Marina. Your compliments make me feel so good. I really appreciate it. I really enjoyed being with you and your pleasant friends. It’s my pleasure to accommodate to your requests because I’m your private guide. I’m always ready to help you enjoy your travel. I’ll be waiting for you to visit Japan again. Please stay in good shape until then. Say hello to your friends. Thank you again.
Mayumi san was awesome! She is very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We had a big day going to both sides of Tokyo, east and west, but we accomplished it in 8 hours because of her efficiency. In these 8 hours we learnt a lot about the history, religion and culture of Japan. She recommended other places for us to visit in our time and went out of her way to help my children buy some manga books. She also helped us get back to our hotel when she found us lost and disoriented with directions near Sunshine City. I highly recommend her as a guide.
Suzi san, Thank you for your kind words. I’m so happy to hear that. I guess you are having great days in Japan. Is Michael enjoying reading the comic books he got at Animate? I’m impressed by how well Marina reads Japanese and is trying to read manga in Japanese. I’m sure she’ll be able to speak Japanese fluently soos as I know many people who learned Japanese by watching anime and reading manga. By the way, “My Hero Academia” will start broadcasting on TV tomorrow. I’d like you to tell it to Michael so that he might be able to watch it in the hotel. I do want to have another opportunity to help you learn more about Japan including exotic places outside Tokyo. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. Say hello to Michat, please. Thank you again.
Mayumi met my family and I at Narita Airport. It was our first time to Japan (we live in the USA) and I know that my kids would be tired so I did not want to get lost with figuring out the train system during our arrival to Tokyo. I wanted to make sure that a guide would pick us up at the airport and take us to drop off our luggage at a storage place. Mayumi was really great, she met us at the airport and she helped me get our train tickets and then also found a storage place in Shibuya because we arrive early and are check-in wasn’t until later. We thought Mayumi was really nice and friendly. We’re so glad that she showed us around. We felt more confident the next day with Tokyo’s train system because Mayumi showed me the Suica and Pasmo cards and she also provided us a map of Tokyo. We would definitely recommend her to anyone...thanks again Mayumi!
Thank you so much for posting such a great review, Jeanelyn. Although our tour was not a long one, I got to feel all of you close to me. As soon as I got your request that you’d like to move around until the check-in without the luggage, I went to Shibuya and Shinjuku to check some places that would be convenient for you to drop it off. I was happy to save your time and visit as many places as possible in our limited time. All my preparation is done for your big smile. I hope we’ll meet again and try another adventure together. Please give my best regards to your family. Thank you again.
We hired Mayumi to spend two days showing us Tokyo. We hired 7 different guides from Triple Light to take us all over Japan and all were great but Mayumi really stood out as exceptional. She is incredibly pleasant and fun to be around . My 7 year old really took a liking to her and they we buddies for the trip. Mayumi helped plan our days ...which were jam packed...and adjusted to incorporate activities our 7 and 8 year old children would like. She made us reservations at the hedgehog cafe, took us across the city to see the large Gundam robot, took us to the Samurai museum and made origami samurai helmets with the kids while we waited for the tour to start. She helped me find a Vermeer painting in an art museum I wanted to see and took us to see the most beautiful cherry blossom and shrines. Our days were really packed and she kept us on track so we could see as much as possible. If Mayumi is available to take you around Tokyo, hire her. She was really great and you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you so much for writing such an honorable review, Vicki. I really appreciate your sharing the great memories with me. Thanks to your good fortune, we could enjoy the unusually early cherry blossoms in Tokyo. Now the flowers we enjoyed are completely over. But we can still enjoy other kinds of flowers and fresh green leaves that make us feel the approach of early summer. By the way, your words really make me happy. There’s nothing better than knowing that you had a great time with me. We did as much as possible in two days and I thank kids and Frank for walking a lot without any complaint. That was amazing. I hope Cooper’s leg has completely got well and my Harajuku Angel is fine as well. Hugs and kisses to your lovely family. Best regards.
Mayumi san is an awesome tour guide. She is very welcoming and fun to be with. We are a group of four, my parents, my teenage boy and I. Three generations, and Mayumi san was able to accommodate to all of us. She's very patient and find walking routes that would be easy for my parents (mum has walking cane for support). We also had a bit of rain on that day but with Mayumi san’s outgoing personality made the day really fun.
Thank you for posting such a great review in the middle of your travel, Jamie san. I really appreciate it. How are Enzo and your parents? I’m sure all of you’ve enjoyed other cities as well after Tokyo. I was happy to be with you on March 16. When I’m looking at the pictures of our trip, I can’t believe it was cloudy and a slight rainy day as I only remember we were so excited all day long. I do like to add more happy pictures in my album. Please come back to me again, and I’ll show you other charming spots in and outside Tokyo. Keep in touch until then. See you.
Mayumi was amazing! We had a group of 8 American travelers, she taught us how to use the trains and metro. By day 2 we were experts! She took us to Tokyo Station to purchase JR Passes for our trips to Izu and Kyoto and back to Narita Airport. Thank goodness she was there, no one at the office seemed to speak English. We continued to an amazing sight seeing tour of all the most popular sites in Tokyo and went shopping in some great market places. We got our fortunes told, learned how to enter shrines properly, Japanese history and more. She also took us directly to the Robot Cabaret. The next day she provided us with a custom tour of Akihabara. We split the travelers from anime lovers to non-anime. The non-anime group went to a 9-floor electronic store and the rest of us went on a hunt for anime souvenirs. We met up and Mayumi showed us how to work a conveyor belt sushi restaurant (it’s more complicated than you think!). After an ice-cream stop she dropped us off to play arcade games at one of the huge Sega buildings! If you are traveling to Tokyo for the first time you NEED Mayumi. I can’t imagine how much time I would have wasted navigating the trains and metro without help. Mayumi also made restaurant reservations and recommendations. Amazing job!
Thank you for your praise for my job, Brandy. I really appreciate it. But I owe our successful two-day tour to you. You’ve considered every guy’s preference and told me about that frequently so that I could arrange everything perfectly in order to entertain you all. I was really happy when we finally found your favorite character of Sailor Moon, Usameito with outfits of SAKURA for Isabella, items of Fairy Tail for her husband. And, I’m really impressed how well your husband, Stephen knows about Japanese history and culture. I learned something new from him. I think he should come back to Japan with you to make his knowledge deeper. Of course, It's my pleasure to help you again. Now that you are experts of Japan, you’ll be able to enjoy onsen, hot spring and Kyoto on your own. I’m always praying for your happy and fabulous travel. Please give my best regards to all of them. I love you all. Thank you again.
Mayumi was a wonderful guide. Her English was very fluent and was great with our two daughters, aged 11 and 7. We learned so much about the history of Tokyo as well as the history behind the shrines and temples. She modified our itinerary throughout the day depending on what we were interested in. She kept our 7 year old entertained and engaged, which was awesome! Thank you for a wonderful day Mayumi.
Thank you for writing the great review. I really appreciate you! I miss the girls. Hope everything is going well. How was the sushi making experience? I hope you all (especially Shahej) enjoyed it. You are lucky enough to have warm and beautiful days in Tokyo. You must have had great memories. I still have something to entertain you. Please contact me anytime you need my help. Looking forward to seeing you again. Give my love to Noor and Shahej. Thank you again, Robin and Harj.
Mayumi was wonderful! She met us at the lobby of our hotel and we were off! We were able to walk and use the subway system to explore all around! She took our top places we wanted to visit and made sure they fit into the day. She is extremely knowledgeable and was able to give a lot of history behind every place we visited. If you want a great, educational, and fun private tour, Mayumi will deliver!
Diane, thank you for posting such a good review. I remember that we enjoyed every single minute together. I couldn’t believe that you were the first timer for the tea ceremony. I was impressed how well you showed the spirit of hospitality through the tea ceremony each other. You looked like a tea master. By the way, how was the rest of your stay in Japan? I can imagine you’ve explored as many places as possible. I’d like to hear your story when we meet again. I’d like to guide you to hidden places next time. Please come back to me. Say hello to your friend. Thank you!
We were a group of 5 people from Australia. We selected 3 or 4 possible things to see on our walking tour with Mayumi. She integrated these suggestions with some of her own and came up with a tour of Tokyo which was a highlight of our trip. Mayumi was expert in her knowledge and able to answer a diverse range of questions from our group. She also went out of her way to help us plan the rest of our trip. Doug
Hi Doug! Thank you for such a great review. I was really impressed by how energetic and curious you all are! I’m sure that’s the secret of your keeping youth. I’ve thought of your quick morning travel by the bullet train. I can imagine you successfully completed it. It was too busy travel for you this time. Please come back to Japan again as I have lots of places to show you. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me again. Please say hello to everyone. Thank you again. Mayumi
Mayumi took my wife, 3 children and I on a tour around Tokyo visiting the highlights. The tour was excellent and Mayumi was great to spend time with. Mayumi was extremely friendly, helpful and informative. We had a great introduction to Tokyo.
Jeremy, thank you so much for posting the review and letting me know that you’ve safely got back to your place. It was a perfect day to walk around Tokyo. There were no clouds in the sky and we could see special decoration for New Year everywhere we went, too. The illumination in Marunouchi was also very beautiful. Thank you for sharing the good fortune with me. I myself really enjoyed spending the lovely winter day with your family thanks to your cute girls. Hugs and kisses to your sweet family. Best regards.
Mayumi was great from the start, with planning on where we would want to see to the tour day itself. She met us at our Airbnb place and took us to the Tsukiji market. She researched for halal place for us. Very accommodating and considerate as she took in our preferences ...with 3 teenage girls. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide
Hi Eva, Thank you for the swift review in spite of your busy travel across Japan. I’m really grateful to you for giving me a wonderful opportunity that I can enjoy halal place and the beautiful mosque with you. I’m also happy to share the part of our culture with you. We have four seasons and different attractions according to each season. I’d like to help you appreciate deeper attraction of Japan. Please come back to me again. Hope girls are enjoying snow and ski. Thank you again for everything during the tour. Please say hello to your kind husband and pretty Iman, Syahadah, and Aliyah. Keep in touch.
She is prompt. She will seek your address, and contact you prior. She wiill advise you best route to take to accomplish much for the little time for the guided tour..
Maria, Thank you so much for writing a good review. I can imagine how you all enjoyed the rest of your stay in Japan. You must have been able to see the beautiful Mt Fuji too. Our tour was a very short, but I'm happy to hear that I'd be helpful for you. Please ask me anytime if you need me. It's my great pleasure to help you appreciate deeper attraction of Japan. Please say hello to your family and Nolet and Matt. See you!
A qoute from our normally unimpressed 13 year-old, "Helpful, fun, knew her way around town, and shared lots of interesting facts and history." Couldn't agree more! Mayumi took the time to ask about what we wanted to see and do in our one day with her...it was an ambitious list but Mayumi managed to fit it all in, while using humor and a fantastic command of English! Highly recommend Mayumi!
Nothing better than the quote from your son. Thank you so much. I’m really happy to hear that. I’ll never forget the wonderful day we shared. One thing I forgot to do is to take a picture with your kids and Mayumi-chan, the monster he bought. I guess you must have been surprised how everything has changed since you left Japan. Please come back to me again. I still have a lot of spots and things I’d like you to experience. Please give my best regards to your family. Let’s get together again someday.
Mayumi was punctual, patient and an awesome host for our tour of Tokyo. Her knowledge was excellent and informative delivered with great English. She was kind and caring for my family and our interests. I would not tour Tokyo without Mayumi. Thank you so much for a great day my family loved!
Thank you so much for those kind words and also the opportunity you gave me to spend the woderful day with your pretty daughters, Craig. I guess your big present must have pleased them greatly. I'm impressed by your sweetness and how deeply you love your family. Being with such a happy family made my feelings warm. Thank you again. Please come back to me again!
Mayumi was so nice and so much fun. We had three kids with us and she made everything fun and they felt included. She also moved along quickly, as we had asked, so they wouldn't get bored and restless. We were able to see so much...it was incredible. Also, my sister was a chef and mayumi made sure to take us to some amazing food places. Her ramen place and green tea ice cream shop, were by the far the best of the trip. She also showed us how to buy train passes and use them. I can't recommend her highly enough!! -Melissa Roza, Boulder, CO
Thank you so much for your words,Melissa. It was so wonderful to spend the two days with you all. I was thinking in my way back home of the memories of the tour. I’ll never forget eating ramen with Aiden, Sophie, and Layna, my putting noodles on their spoon. And I still have some other fancy restaurants I’d like to introduce to your sister. I definitely hope one day to see you again. Hugs and kisses to your lovely family. Best regards.-Mayumi
Mayumi is really responsive and knowledgeable. Prior to our trip to Tokyo, she helped organising our two days visit based on our interests. What impressived me most is that one of the places we wanted to visit is very new to her, yet she took the time to do the research and even visit the Shirohige’s Cream Puff Shop to check it out for us first 👍👍 She is very very friendly, attentive, ever so polite and always with a smile. Thank you Mayumi for showing us the hidden gems in Tokyo - we were having such a great time. P.S. Macey is already talking about going back to Tokyo soon so you can take us to visit the Owl, Chinchilla, and Otter Cafe.
Jocelyn, thank you so much to post such a great review. I was impressed how well you researched places yourself well in advance. Your ideas reminded me how deep attractions Tokyo still has. I realized that I’m learning something new every day thanks to my inquisitive guests. Thank you again! I’m happy to know Macey is looking forward to visiting the owl café I told her. I’ll be finding more interesting places and adorable things that can please her. I hope to see mammy again as well. Please say hello to her. I’m waiting for you to come back to me soon.
Mayumi is simply the best. Even before we met, she reached out to make sure she had a good idea of what we wanted out of our time with her. We are so glad that we went out with her on our first day in Tokyo. We felt way more comfortable getting around after spending the day with her. She explained where we were and what things meant, how to conduct ourselves at shrines, and most importantly where to eat the tastiest fatty tuna in town. YUM!!! These are just a few examples of what we learned. There are so many more! We ate blue ramen, naturally blue and so good! She also helped us with ideas for the rest of our trip. We did what would of taken us three or four days by ourselves in one day with Mayumi. She even put up with my bad jokes throughout the day. Pro tip: Wear comfortable shoes. We probably walked more than 30 kilometers that day and Mayumi is faster than you. She could have been drafted to the NFL as a running back with her ability to weave in and out of crowds.
Hahaha! I love your sense of humor. I myself had a lot of fun to spend the whole day with you. I miss you!! I have been trained to weave in and out of crowds in this busy town since I was a child. With a few more visits to Tokyo, you could be drafted to the NFL as you look much stronger than me. So you must come back to Tokyo. I’ll keep searching for more interesting and delicious food for you. I also want you to take to the other attractive places outside Tokyo. I look forward to seeing you again. Lastly, thank you so much for writing such a pleasant review. Please give my best regards to your lovely wife, Emilie.
Mayumi guided us out of Tokyo on a fantastic tour to Hakone, Lake Ashi, Mt Hakone. We took in an experience on a pirate ship, two rope ways, and the Hakone Tozan Railway. It was a fantastic day and I would highly recommend Mayumi. We saw so much and covered a lot of things in just one day. This would not be possible without an experienced guide like Mayumi.
Thank you for posting such a great review, David. Yes, it was exactly a great tour thanks to your thoughtfulness. We could experience lots of things though Hakone was packed with tourists who wanted to enjoy the beautiful color of autumn. The first class of the pirate ship was very comfortable and we had a pleasant cruise of Lake Ashi. I think it was good for us not to be so much influenced by the jam. I wish we could have seen the whole figure of Mt Fuji, though. I hope you could see Mt Fuji on your way to Kyoto. Spring of Japan is so beautiful too. It’d be wonderful if you’d come back to me again. Please give my best regards to your pleasant and beautiful wife. I miss her! Thank you for everything you got me during the tour. See you again.
We met Mayumi on our first full day in Tokyo. We could not have asked for a more patient, kind, knowledgeable, & energetic guide to introduce us to the biggest city in the world. She asked about our interests and then designed an itinerary around our interests while taking the time to show us how to navigate the multiple subways lines. Her insight as a local to the area was invaluable, and we also greatly enjoyed her company. We feel we not only learned a great deal about the city, but we made a new friend in her as well. We cannot say enough good things about this experience. She made all the difference in the world for us in our first experience with Tokyo, as we wanted to make the most of the short week we were going to be visiting. Highly recommend Mayumi!
Dear Karen & Robbie, How kind you are to give me those words! I’m so happy to know you really liked the tour. I can imagine Robbie took many beautiful pictures during your stay in Japan. I guess he made beautiful art works with the super printer you told me about. Chrysanthemum flowers we enjoyed watching are almost over now. Japanese maples are now changing its color into crimson and the gradation is really beautiful instead. I still have a lot of things to show you in Tokyo and other places. I’ll be always waiting for you to come back to me. Thanks and see you again. Mayumi
Mayumi emailed me several weeks before the trip and helped organize my two days visit in Tokyo based on my interests. Mayumi is punctual and organized. Mayumi has a warm smile and is pleasant company. As a single woman, I felt safe traveling with her. I would definitely use Mayumi again, and recommend her to anyone who wishes to discover this fascinating city.
I was happy to have such a sweet guest for two days, Elisabeth. Despite rainy days, we visited several places and fully enjoyed ourselves together. I first noticed that visiting Kamakura on a rainy day was not necessarily bad. The temples and shrines were all the more beautiful and calm for the rain, weren’t they? I still have many spots to show you in and outside Tokyo. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me again. Thank you for sharing the beautiful memories with me.
Mayumi made our stay & touring Tokyo PERFECT! Even with our last minute changes, she was able to meet all of our challenges. Her background as a teacher teaching English & Japanese history, make her a perfect guide. Very professional, friendly, attentive and always with a smile. Thank you Mayumi for such a special time!
What a great review! Thank you so much, Kim. It was a wonderful experience for me to spend two days with you all. Although you must have been a bit tired after the long travel, you were always curious and excited about everything you saw. I really learned a lot from you. I’ll never forget what you told me about happiness in my life after the shabu-shabu lunch. Thank you again for sharing the precious memories with me. Stay healthy and see you again. Please give my best regards to Sharon, Tracy, Dianne, and Rosie. Mayumi
I requested a tour for my group of Akihabara & Ikebukuro from Mayumi out of her half day tour of Tokyo. It was mostly a shopping tour, as these two destinations are big shopping centers for Japanese nerds. I would have liked a more culturally oriented tour, but we still had fun and I realize that these two areas aren't historically rich. Also the pace was a little fast for us, but that might have been the jet lag.
Thank you for writing the review, Daniella. Your review gave me a good opportunity to consider how I can satisfy each desire of people in a group. I focused on anime-related shops in Akihabara & Ikebukuro according to your request. I tried to show you as many spots as we can do in the 4-hour tour as girls looked excited to get items they can find only in Japan. If you come back to Tokyo, I do want to show you historically rich places. Tokyo and nearby area have many places you can learn samurai culture and the modernization of Japan. I’d really appreciate it if you’d give me another opportunity to guide you. Please say hello to guys in the anime club!
All we can say is Wow! Mayumi was warm, engaging and informative. Excellent overview of Tokyo and well worth the time and money. She is a delightful person! Highly recommend!
Thank you so much for posting the fine review for me, Kathy. We enjoyed every single moment together. Especially, I can’t forget the cat café where we took photos together wearing the cat ear. I’d be very happy if you’d be back to me with your pretty daughter if you have another opportunity. Please give my best regards to Ed.
Mayumi is an excellent guide. We enjoyed being with Mayumi for our first day in Tokyo. She is friendly and is very knowledgeable. It was as if a friend was showing us around. We would definitely request Mayumi again.
Dear Peter, Thank you for the great review. How is your wife? I hope you both are also enjoying Kanazawa and Kyoto. As it’s suddenly getting chilly, please take care not to catch a cold. I do want to see you again. I’ll be waiting for you to get back to me. Please stay healthy and keep on smiling. Thank you again. Mayumi
Mayumi helped us both organize and lead us through a great day to see our rather disjointed list of preferences to see in Tokyo. Besides being very knowledgeable about the sites and obviously the best way to get to them, she added a lot to our understanding of Japanese culture and heritage. Was a pleasure to work with; professional and enlightening at the same time. Would be happy to use her again and to recommend her to anyone trying to assemble a productive tour of Tokyo.
It’s such a pleasure to hear from you, Glen. Thank you for the great review. I hope you enjoyed everything on your list during your travel in Japan. We had terrible rain at the end of our tour, but I was happy to share the wonderful memories with you. The cosmos we saw together was still beautiful the day before yesterday and other kinds of the flower has begun to bloom. We’ll have several chrysanthemum festivals soon. When I visit one of them, I’ll send you the pictures. Please give your son my best regards. I do want to see you again. Thank you so much for everything. Mayumi
Mayumi was punctual, knowledgeable and very personable. She also saved us so much time by helping us buy our train tickets to our next destination. I highly recommend her!
Thank you for posting the good review despite your busy schedule, Julie. Our tour was filled with happy memories in the short time. I think that was because of your “Best Fortune”. I hope your tour is going well. Please come back to me again someday!
Mayumi met us at the Akasaka Excel Hotel in Tokyo at 9:00 a.m.. We were a group of four. We went to the Imperial Palace and walked through the Imperial Palace outer garden (about 1.5km) The Imperial Palace itself is not open to the public, so we walked through the grounds, looking at the famous Niju-bashi Buridge, the bridge to the main gate, and the Sakurada-mon Gate, which is designated as an important cultural asset while learning Japanese unique history. At 10:00 a.m. We traveled to Tokyo Station which is over 100 years old and is an important cultural asset. This station, originally designed by Tatsuno Kingo was reconstructed in 2014. Around 10:30 a.m. We went to Asakusa: Sensoji Temple, Asakusa-jinja Shrine & Nakamise shopping arcade. It was about 1 km from Asakusa Station to Sensoji Temple. We also enjoyed strolling through the Nakamise arcade. Lunch was around noon and we ate at a restaurant where we could enjoy both sushi & tempura. At 2:00 p.m. we traveled to Omotesanndo: the modern & high-end shopping street Around 4:00 p.m. we traveled to Roppingi: Tokyo City View is a fine-view facility having indoor fine-view corridor of 250 meters above sea-level and roof "sky deck" of open air of 270 meters above sea-level located at the center of Tokyo. We could see Mt Fuji along with landmarks including the Tokyo Sky-tree and Tokyo Tower. About 5:00 p.m. We departed ways back to the ship and the hotel after spending a delightful day with Mayumi as our tour guide. She was very knowledgable and we had a great time with Mayumi. She has a warm personality and a great sense of humor. We highly recommend Mayumi as a tour guide.
Mark san, it’s such a pleasure to hear from you. You seem to have had a great time after I left you. I’m happy to know that you really enjoyed your stay in Tokyo. Thanks for give me a chance to spend a great day with you all. I really appreciate it. All of you are very kind and have a good sense of humor. In any event, I was impressed at how strong you all are. I was a little worried that Phil got tired after the long day. I contacted him the next day and was relieved to know that he was OK. I do want to see you again in San Francisco or Japan again. Please stay shape until the day we meet again.
I have to go to HK for a trip and decided a stopover to Tokyo since I am traveling on ANA. I researched for a certified tour guide and after days of research, I picked triple Lights . Then I looked at all the reviews for different tour guides and checked videos on them and emailed a few of them, I finally connected with Mayumi and she was great from day one of emails about 3 months ago. Long story short, she was better in person. My brothers and I had a blast for two days of touring. She is informative, excellent manners and she amazes us with all her history info. Even though we book d half day on second day she did not hurry us since we were shopping and she was very patient at the end. If you want a pleasant English speaking well informed guide, she is the one to book with. We will for sure call on her next time we back in Japan From USA
Thank you so much for your writing the quick and kind reply. We were amazingly lucky during the tour. As we had a perfect weather in Yokohama, we walked a lot and enjoyed seeing many historic buildings and modern city at the same time. We might have done too much, but I loved the adventure we experienced together. And I like the way your brother sees things. He helped me appreciate the deep connection between Japan and the US while visiting the New Grand Hotel. I imagine you are enjoying your stay with your mother now. See you again when you drop by Japan before going to her place. I’m waiting for you to come back to me. Thank you again for everything during the two days. Please give my best regards to guys.
I booked Mayumi from my office in Sydney, Australia. I chose Mayumi for her positive reviews and brief introduction video on the website. I had a good vibe about her and I was right. There was a lot of changes in the lead up to this assignment and I found Mayumi very understanding and accommodating. The planning for this assignment was over some public holidays in Japan but even then, Mayumi was contactable. There was a media component to this assignment and Mayumi ensured she organised the correct accreditation for photography purposes. I unfortunately did not meet Mayumi in person but received very positive feedback from my colleagues who did meet her while in Tokyo.
It’s such a pleasure to hear from you, Paula. Thank you very much for posting the wonderful review and giving me the great chance to accompany the delegation and the media team. It was an exciting and valuable experience for me. Thanks to your kind information and Chris making a great effort to make everything go smoothly, I managed to carry out my responsibility. Please give my best regards to him. And I definitely want to see you in person soon. Thank you again. Mayumi
Ms. Mayumi is a very friendly and cheerful person. We were very comfortable w/ her, she is also very fluent in english. We changed the itinerary on the day itself but we didn't hear any complain from her. She's flexible and sensitive to my mother's pace. We had a great time in tokyo with Ms. Mayumi.
Hi Soraya, thank you so much for your kind review. I enjoyed myself with your bright and pleasant family. I’d like to show you more local places that can give you some ideas on your business next time. Please keep in touch and let me know what you’d be interested in. It’s my pleasure to do my homework for you. Thank you again. Mayumi
Mayumi was a wonderful and informative guide! She made arrangements for our family to participate in Sampuru making workshop in Kappabashi and also guided us through Tsukiji inner and outer market in the morning. She was flexible while keeping us going from one destination to the next and also had wonderful insight and knowledge about the areas we visited and about Japanese language and culture in general. She even shared suggestions for what to see in the remaining time we had in Tokyo based on our interests. Highly recommended!
Hi Glynis, Thank you for your kind review and the picture you sent me the other day. That reminds me of the wonderful day we spent together. Did you show your great work to your friends? I can imagine how they were surprised to see them. Is Ruby practicing odori with the new gear? I wish I could have an opportunity to see her odori someday. Please come back to Japan, and I’ll be able to show you other places you have yet to go. Keep in touch. I’m really looking forward to seeing you and your family again. See you soon! Thank you again. Mayumi
We booked an evening tour for our family of 4, with 2 teenagers. Mayumi first took us to popular teenager places like Harajuku and Shibuya. We found the statue for Hachiko and experienced the famous Shibuya crossing. She also made dinner reservations for us at an izakaya restaurant. She explained that it is very common for locals to come to this place after work and she explained to us during dinner some of the history of Japan. We then traveled to Shinjuku to experience the adult nightlife in Tokyo. We saw Godzilla in Shinjuku and walked through Kabukicho and the Golden Gai. Since it was on a Sunday evening, it was not very crowded. We learned a lot from Mayumi on how locals live in the city and where they go. The tour was great! We would highly recommend Mayumi as a guide. She was very knowledgeable and accommodating for our needs.
Hi Regan, Thank you so much for posting such a great review. Though we had a limited time, we enjoyed several aspects in Tokyo. I was a little worrying about your health condition during the tour, for all of you seemed to have done too much in the daytime. But your kids were so patient and strong that we could enjoy everything we planned to visit. We have other attractive places to go not only in Tokyo but also in nearby prefectures. If you kindly give me an opportunity to guide you there, I’m sure I can help you appreciate much deeper attraction in Japan. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me and spend longer time together. Please say hello to your family. Thank you again. Mayumi
She were very fortunate to discover Mayumi on Triple Lights. She customized several 1 day and 1/2 day tours for us throughout the Tokyo metropolitan area over an 8 day period. My family ages ranged from 8-70, Mayumi took the time to create unique experiences for everyone. She was always very prompt, super diligent, extra thoughtful and went the "extra mile" each and every time to make this trip of a lifetime very special. Additionally, once we arrived she was very flexible with our schedules. I can't imagine us not using Mayumi for future visits (because there is still much of Japan to see). We would give Mayumi 10+ stars!!
What an amazing review!! Thank you, Tony!! It is the first time for me to get 10+ stars!! I was overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness. You were always thinking of all your family members and I was so happy to help you. Even though we had a terrible weather when we went to Hakone, we were so excited to visit several spots in dense fog. That’s an unforgettable memory for me. And I was impressed by Grandad’s knowledge about the history of Japan. Did you see the armor of Sanada Yukimura he bought at Samurai Museum? We still have a lot of places to visit in Tokyo and nearby prefectures as well. I’m looking forward to exploring those places with you again. Please give my best regards to your family. See you next year. Mayumi
Mayumi was wonderful, and this tour was among our favourites. Would absolutely recommend!
Thank you Sandra, I'm so happy to hear your comment. We did so much in a short tour, that was great!! I can imagine how you and girls enjoyed every minute of the rest of your stay in Tokyo. Thank you and see you again. Mayumi
Mayumi was our guide for a family trip to Japan that included young children, college age kids and adults. Mayumi spent a full day with us taking to us to various sights and points of interest around Tokyo. She was friendly, patient, helpful and very knowledgeable about the history of the places we visited. We appreciated her fluency in English which made it easy for us to communicate. She was very courteous about offering suggestions for other sites, shopping and restaurants we should consider during our stay. We are happy to recommend Mayumi's guide services to other travelers to Japan.
Hello Saul, Thank you for the great review. I was so happy to be with such a pleasant big family. That was a wonderful experience for me. We ate a variety of delicious food including several flavored ice creams. How interesting!! I guess boys enjoyed drinking that favorite "Strong" every night. I wish I could have been with you at that moment. Purchasing ordinary food and drinks at the supermarket must have been a good way for you to know everyday life of the Japanese. Now that you are an expert of Japan, you can visit many other interesting spots on your own. Don't come back to Japan without contacting me. Please say hello to all of your family members. Thank you again. Mayumi
My wife and I loved our visit to Tokyo and our time with Mayumi was a highlight. Mayumi was thoughful, knowledgeable, and fun throughout our entire day together and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a guide in Tokyo.
Hello Zac, such a pleasure to hear from you! How's it going? Our tour was filled with good fortune such as the Best Fortune your wife drew at Sebso-ji Temple. Thank you for sharing the wonderful memories with me. It was very pleasant to know that your wife actually loves things like pop culture. I think Tokyo has more exciting things for you to see. I'd be happy if you'd give me another chance to guide you to them. See you again! Mayumi
My wife and I travel all over the world and have experienced many guides. I can honestly say that Mayumi was one of the best. Smart, passionate, funny, and full of information and history. What more can you ask for. Thank you Mayumi.
Hi Bernard, thank you for posting the good review. It was so hot but we could enjoy strolling around several places. I admired how you two are familiar with traveling, handling every condition. I enjoyed taking a breather at the rest house of Hama-rikyu Gardens. The cold powdered green tea was really refreshing, wasn't it? Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. I hope you'll keep on traveling happily all over the world. Please give my best regards to your wife. Mayumi
We enjoyed our 2 day tour with Mayumi. She was very organized and easy to communicate with. We saw the major highlights of Tokyo and learned much another Tokyo's history. She bought little souvenirs for my children and recommend a tea ceremony which was really fun. My 9 year old daughter in particular really enjoyed learning Japanese phrases and the art of orgamai with Mayumi. I highly recommend using her for your tour of Tokyo - especially if you are traveling with a family.
Hi Justin, Thank you for your writing the great review quickly although you must be tired in the middle of your journey. I was really happy to go with you and your family. I was impressed by how quickly Bella learned everything I told her. I wonder Evan could successfully make you laugh by performing RAKUGO, or a funny story I told him secretly. And thank you all for your patience in the crazy heat during the two days. I hope you’ll have a lot of happy and pleasant moments during the rest of your stay in Japan. Please take care, and thank you again. Mayumi
Mayumi was a wonderful guide. She was totally in step with our 11 and 14 year old daughters. She took us to all the places we wanted to go. We requested travel by metro and she made it fun and easy (and the Tokyo metro is one of the most complicated in the world!) Mayumi is a fun, flexible guide who is great with families, kids, teens and adults. She is very patient and helpful. We were so sad to say goodbye to her after our time together.
Hi Alissa, I already miss you so much! We encountered lots of happy moments and enjoyed every minute of the days together. Thank you for sharing your good fortune with me. I've always hated guiding people in a heavy rain, but I must say that even a heavy rain could be fun. Yes! I enjoyed the rain thanks to your cute kids, Hanna and Sofia. I was happy to hear that you could fully enjoy the next day too. Thank you for the beautiful pictures. Please come back to Japan again, and let me show you other interesting places not only in Tokyo but also other prefectures. I'll be waiting for you to come back to me. Please say hello to your husband and girls. Thank you again, mayumi
On our second day in Tokyo, we enjoyed a fantastic full day tour with Mayumi. Her professional but warm and bubbly personality immediately put us at ease. Her English and knowledge of various cultures/religions is excellent. She is a high energy person with lots of enthusiasm. Even though she has visited the sights hundreds of times, she seemed to really enjoy each place she took us. We had a few email exchanges before we arrived in Tokyo so she could plan our tour for what we wanted to see most. Much of it was left to her discretion since she is the expert. We either walked or took the subway. She walked at our pace- a middle speed- and reminded us to drink water. It was well-planned for the most efficient use of time. We saw all of the major hightlights including Asakusa, the fish market, a lovely boat ride on the Sumida River to Odaiba and the Hamaryiku Gardens. When we accidentally happened upon both a Buddhist and a Shinto wedding, Mayumi was able to explain it all to us. She also taught us a few words and phrases. We had a great lunch at a popular local tempura cafe. What a perfect day! Thank you, Mayumi! We hope if you ever come to the US, you will let us know so we can see you. If we come back to Japan, we will be sure to find you again. Cheers!
Thank you for those sweet words, Gayle. Yes! our tour was full of happy moments. I'll never forget the solemn ceremony of Buddhist wedding in which many monks were chanting beautiful Buddhist sutra in the temple. I enjoyed every moment of the tour with you thanks to you and Wayne's smile. I do want to meet you again. I'll never come to the US without letting you know. And I'll be waiting for you to come back to Japan and spend great days together again. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity I can entertain you. Thank you again. Mayumi
Mayumi was easy to communicate with. She was waiting for us promptly in the hotel and took us through Asakusa, Harajuku, Akihabara, and Meiji shrine, with lunch in a Monster Cafe and a short walk along Sumida river. In the end of the day we ended up in Shinjuku next to Robot restaurant, per our request. Mayumi was very easy to talk to and was very open and attentive to our requests (e.g. our son wanted to catch Pokemon in a few places). Towards end of the day we realized we needed to buy medicine from a drugstore, and Mayumi took extra time and care to find a pharmacy and to help us communicate with the pharmacist. She also texted the next day to make sure we were OK. In general, I found it to be a very positive experience! We used trains to get around; it was our first day in Tokyo, so following Mayumi helped me to get oriented and get more comfortable using trains on subsequent days. Mayumi, thank you very much!!! Sincerely, Mark & family.
Hello Mark, I’m very happy to hear those words. I was relieved to hear that Anna got better and enjoyed the Robot Restaurant. I wonder if Nathan successfully got the indigenous species of Japan, Farfetch’d. The names of Pokemon are different between in Japanese and In English. I learned a lot from him. That was a very pleasant experience for me. I’ve never seen Snorlax without thinking of him since he taught me the name of his favorite Pokimon. I can imagine he is cherishing the Snorlax he bought in Akihabara. I hope you’ll visit Japan again someday and I’ll show you other exciting places. Thank you again for everything. Please say hello to your wife and kids. Mayumi
Mayumi was awesome. She was knowledgeable, fluent and flexible, short review since we r still traveling. spent 4 days with her. Highly recommended. Great personality and so friendly. Can't go wrong. She tailored the trip and modified it's we needed
Thank you for your great review, Tony. I’m happy to hear that you seem to having fun in other places in Japan too. We went so many places in the limited time, didn’t we? I was really excited to be with you every day. I must say I was surprised by the two Muses. Liana was the great calligrapher and Danna was a master of tea ceremony! Everything I underwent with you are unforgettable memories. Thank you again for the wonderful 4 days. I’m looking forward to going to Ogasawara Islands with Liana next time. Please say hello to your sweet family.
Our flight was a day late and we were dying of jetlag, forcing us to cut our tour with Mayumi short, which was a huge bummer because it was our best tour in Japan by far! Mayumi made it very easy to communicate beforehand, and accommodated a lot of last minute changes. She helped us make some phone calls and figure out where to take a nap when our jet lag got the best of us. She seemed to know literally everything about everything, and was more of a very wise buddy than a walking encyclopedia. We had actual fun on our tour and learned a ton not only about what we were there to see, but everything else we had questions about. She checked in on us after our tour to ask if we needed anything also! Mayumi was cool and laid back and fun and we wished she had been our guide for the rest of our trip!
Dear Rebecca, Thank you for the great review. I enjoyed myself being with you. I believe that your curiosity is the driving force for your creativity. I’d like to hear about the crazy cart tour. As I recall, we had rain in Tokyo at night. I wonder if you could joined it…. And I can imagine how excited you were at the ryokan. Were you able to sleep well on a futon? Anyway, I’m sure you could enjoy every minute of your travel because of your infinite inquiring mind. If you had not been dying of jetlag, I would have shown you more places and people in Tokyo. Please come back to me again, and we’ll be able to have more exciting time together. Thank you again and say hello to your pleasant friend.
Mayumi did an outstanding job showing the Tokyo sights to my family. Prior to arriving in Japan she recommended many options for places to visit and experience. We worked together to select a day full of activities and experiences, from cultural to cuisine. She arrived to meet us a few minutes early, of course polite, smiling, and with fantastic English speaking skill. We reviewed the plans for the day and set out to tour Tokyo. Along the way Mayumi shared her knowledge of Japanese history and culture, explaining the historical significance of the various monuments, shrines, and temples. Always pleasant, she took a number of photographs of our family as we toured. We enjoyed a meal together where she introduced us to Japanese customs associated with eating a meal. We walked many miles and as the day concluded, Mayumi made sure we were returned safely to our hotel. The following day she emailed us copies of the photos she had taken with her camera along with well wishes. My family and I enjoyed her company and were well informed and entertained during our time together.
Tom-san, Thank you for writing such a fantastic review, while running all around Japan. I really appreciate the opportunity you gave me to spend the great day together, Your thoughtfulness is overwhelming and I’d like to pass such sweetness I learned from you to all my future guests. I still have other attracting spots in Tokyo and nearby prefectures, so please come back to Tokyo again. Hope you’ll have beautiful days and enjoy every minute wherever you visit. Please say hello to Hoang, Michelle, David, and John.
There is so much to see and do in Tokyo, and it's spread out all over the city. Mayumi was the perfect guide, showing me all the sites I wanted to see at my pace. I loved that we had the chance to see all the spots I'd mentioned wanting to see, but also to stop and spend more time seeing what the day brought: A festival, a parade, a couple having photos taken after their wedding. Spending the day with Mayumi, who lives in Tokyo, made me feel like I was getting a look at life beyond the guidebooks, while still seeing all the guidebook-worthy sites. Highly recommended!
Hi Jennifer, Such a pleasure to hear from you in spite of your busy days. Thank you for the great review. I’m happy to hear that you fully enjoyed that day. We were lucky enough to encounter a lot of impressive scenes, weren’t you? And thank you for telling me of the interesting life in Alaska including moose. I got interested in everything you told me. Please come back to me again, and I’ll take you to the wilderness in Japan next time because I’m a nature enthusiast and love to hike and cycle as I told you. I’m really looking forward to seeing you again. Mayumi
Mayumi is an exceptional guide and hands down the best we’ve ever had. Before our tour she was in constant communication with us about our wishes and meetup time/destination and made all the relevant bookings for our special requests. As soon as we met her she was full of energy and smiles. She felt less like a guide and more like a friend showing us the city. In a very relaxed atmosphere we visited a lot of cool places tailored to our interests. She was extremely accommodating towards our two boys (9 and 10) and ensured that we all had a fun time on the tour. Her English is excellent and none of us had a problem understanding her. Highly recommended = 5 stars!!
Thank you, Nina for the great review. Despite of the limited time, we fully enjoyed the day. I was impressed by how well all of you made the food sample. I can imagine that people will be tricked when they see the food sample placed on your table. How funny! It was very hot and so crowded in Asakusa, but your kids were willing to walk around and gave me a big smile. Thank you again!! When you are in Japan again, let me show you other interesting spots. Please say hello to Max, Alex, and your pleasant husband.
I decided to book a tour with Mayumi on Wednesday May 10 for me and my family (4 adults), and it was an excellent idea! Mayumi is a very competent and interesting person with a very good knowledge about Japan and its history. She is also a very pleasant person and we had a wonderful day with her. She made sure to do an itinerary that included every place we wanted to see and, although we took time to shop and wander, we were able to do it all! My husband as well as me and my children were very satisfied. Thank you Mayumi for that beautiful day.
Mona, Thank you very much for the quick review during your travel. I was really impressed by you and your family's thoughtfulness. Thank you again for everything. We had a very delightful day together in spite of the bad weather, didn’t we? I guess you are learning a lot of things and your children always tickle you in Kyoto too. I’d like to hear about your trip to Kyoto. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan! Take care!! Mayumi
We have never experienced such a professional, knowledgeable and caring guide as Mayumi. I had an unexpected leg injury which limited my walking, but Mayumi managed to adjust the itinerary to accommodate our interests. Her English was impeccable and certainly useful in navigating the shopping, dining. Her historical commentaries were remarkable. Comfortable that we were shown the highlights in a brief 48 hours of an incredible city,
Hi Barbara, Thank you for your writing such a fine review quickly in spite of your tough health condition. Your comment made me come close to cry. I hope your leg injury is getting better by now. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness and strength that helped me. I do want to see you again. Please say hello to your sweet husband, Gary. Take good care of yourself!!
I spent a wonderful day with Mayumi. This was my first trip to Tokyo, and I was traveling solo. Because it's such a big city I didn't know where to start. She met me in my hotel lobby, which saved me the stress of finding my way to a meeting place. She helped me buy a subway pass and taught me to how to get around on the very large subway system. That gave me the confidence to explore on my own for the remainder of my trip. Mayumi's English is impeccable, and she was full of knowledge. She shared some great information about the history and local customs of Japan. I experienced a lot of things that I would have missed exploring on my own. For example, at Sensō-ji Temple she showed me how to draw an Omikuji (fortune-telling paper) and how to perform the purification ritual. Because it was a private tour, it was all about me. If I wanted to check out a store, we'd go in. I felt like tempura for lunch, and she took me to a fantastic place known only to the locals (not another gaijin in sight). When I wanted ideas on where to go next she had plenty of suggestions based on my interests. I’ve traveled all over the world, and I refuse to go on those big group tours where you pile onto a bus and are herded around, trying to fight your way to the front of the group so you can hear the guide. I can’t recommend TripleLights and Mayumi enough!
Hi Regina, Thank you for the great review. I’m really happy to hear that you fully enjoyed the day. I tried taking you to as many places as possible in order to help you appreciate the authentic attraction of Japan because you’ve traveled around the world and I thought you might expect something different from a stereotyped package tour. I could guide you to the tempra restaurant filled with the locals as you were a solo tourist. It was exciting, wasn’t it? By the way, I sent you the pics I took during our tour. I hope you got it. I still have many places I want you to visit in Tokyo and nearby prefectures. Please stop by Japan during your travel, and I’ll accompany you to other exciting places. Thank you again and see you! Mayumi
Our trip involved 3 generations traveling together and we scheduled a full day tour of Tokyo with Mayumi. Mayumi grew up in Tokyo and as such has tremendous knowledge of the city and culture. She set a wonderful itinerary for us which included a visit the Senso-Ji Shrine, a boat ride on the Sumida River, Hamarikyu Park and the Meji Shrine. Along the way she taught us how to use the subway and the history of the Japanese language. In addition, she told us about some of her favorite places to eat, suggested other places to visit in Tokyo, including some stores and helped us make reservations. It was a pleasure and honor to spend the day woth her.
Hello Arnold, It’s such a pleasure to hear from you! I hope all of you are doing well. It’s my honor to spend with you. I was really impressed how strong and energetic you and Mickey are. I’m sure you and your family fully enjoyed Japan for the rest of your stay. We have beautiful season in Japan now even after the cherry blossom season is over. I enjoy walking around Tokyo and nearby city filled with pretty spring flowers with people from across the world almost every day. I still have many places to show you. Please come to Japan again. I’ll be always waiting for you. Thank you. Mayumi
Mayumi, is a great guide. She took us to everything that we wanted to see in Tokyo and more. Her schedule for the day could not have been better. There was no way that we could have seen Tokyo without her service. We would use her service again if we return to Tokyo.
Hi Judy, Thank you for your writing the review so quickly. What a delightful day we had together! We laughed a lot, didn’t we? I can imagine your grandkids are pleased with your souvenirs. Please take good care of yourself after the long travel. And I expect you to come to Japan again. I still have many other places I want to take you. Please say hello to Jim! Thank you again.
Kids were thrilled with Mayumi's bubbly warm personality and we had a fun filled day and 8 hours passed too fast! Highly recommend this knowledgeable and energetic quide. We also appreciated her flexibility as well as very practical approach to route planning.
Hello Tetyana, Thank you for the good review. You are my first guests from Cyprus. I really enjoyed being with you and also learning about your country. Your story makes me get interested in Cyprus. I guess Nick and Alex are back to school and spend busy days attending several activities after school and maybe you are their driver again as usual. I was so happy to be with your super cute kids and sweet husband. Please remember me to your family and come back to Japan again. I definitely want to visit Cyprus someday. So see you again! Mayumi
We had a two excellent and very informative days. Mayumi has shown to us everything we have asked her to see and even more. We have seen and experience main Tokyo's must see attractions and cultural sites . Mayumi is very flexible easy going, super accommodating, and knowledgeable guide. Our family had a very good time. We would highly recommend Mayumi .
Hi Igor, Thank you for writing such a sweet review during your travel. I hope you also had great days in Hakone and Kyoto. I really appreciate your patience in the heavy rain. I’ll never forget how cute Ben was. And I’m impressed by how smart and kind David is. It was a lot of fun to be with your family despite the terrible weather. Please came back to Japan again, and I’ll show you more in Tokyo. Please remember me to Masha, David, and Ben! Mayumi
We had a full day packed with adventure to see the sights in Tokyo. Mayumi was very knowledgeable and pleasant during our tour. She was eager to answer any questions and made sure we saw the best sights along our tour. She also made sure we got the best photos. She contacted us ahead of time to tailor the trip to our liking and made sure we hit the spots that were important to us. We hope to visit Japan again some day and use her for our next adventure. Highly recommend her!
Hi Jason, It’s such a pleasure to getting a fantastic review from you! It reminds me of the great day we spent together in the beautiful spring day. We really enjoyed every minute of our adventure, didn’t we? You seemed to get into the fresh sea urchin and giant pacific oyster you ate at Tsukiji Fish Market. Please come back to Tokyo again and try other interesting things! I’ll keep searching for something interesting for you. Thank you again. Mayumi
We hit the jackpot when we hired Mayumi. We only had a few hours to spend in Tokyo prior to our cruise. Mayumi planned a delightful tour. We appreciated her promptness, knowledge and warm personality. We left Tokyo with wonderful memories of our brief tour, but more importantly, with a new friend. Thank you Mayumi!!!!!
Hi Karen, It’s such a pleasure to hear from you and thank you for this warm review. We really had a great time together in spite of the limited time. I appreciate the wonderful memories you gave me. I wish I’d have been with you longer. Maybe next time!! I’d like to hear of your trip to China and Okinawa. Hope you fully enjoyed it. Please say hello to your sweet husband and keep in touch! Mayumi
If you want to get the most of your trip to Tokyo, then look no further than Mayumi. I booked an 8 hour day and was able to request all of the spots interesting to me. We started early and beat the crowds on a Saturday. The sites were amazing, and the descriptions and history she gave made each site mean more, and I understood the little things. Along the way Mayumi was able to point out many little interesting tidbits that we would have never known otherwise. She also helped with understanding the local customs. Don't hesitate a minute, your day in Tokyo will be much better and see twice as much if you use a guide, specifically Mayumi. She knows the perfect touch.
Thank you, Bryan, for taking time to post such a fantastic review, though you must be very busy! There’s nothing happier for me than sharing wonderful memories with my guest. I myself also learned from you a lot and fully enjoyed our adventure thanks to your generosity. I’m still discovering something new and interesting every day, and have many places to go with you. I’d definitely like to take you and your family there next time. I’m looking forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you again!
Amazing! It was one of the best days of our lives. Mayumi was so prepared. She had the day all mapped out for us and had fascinating things to tell us about every place we visited and about Japanese culture in general. We were travelling with our 2 children who are 12 and 9 years old. She kept them engaged throughout the entire tour. They loved spending the day with her and we will never forget our wonderful adventure. Mayumi also helped us to organize our itinerary for the the next few days. We had to get along without her but she was with us in spirit! I would say to anyone visiting Tokyo, that your trip will not be complete unless you have Mayumi by your side!
Hi Lisa, It’s so nice to hear from you and I appreciate your fantastic review. Your family was so nice that I really enjoyed every minute of the tour. Especially, I was impressed to see how well your kids made green tea for you and Jeff at the tea ceremony experience. I’m happy to find all of you are now experts of Japan. I’ll continue discovering more attractions of Japan for my guests. So please let me be with you when you come to Japan again. I miss you all. See you again!
I sent Mayumi a list of places we wanted to visit in Tokyo and she promptly created an itinerary for us taking into consideration our interests. She picked us up at the lobby of our hotel on time and even gave our daughter a small gift. While traveling, Mayumi told us interesting facts about the different locations in our itinerary which made our sightseeing more meaningful. She is a sweet, kind and knowledgeable guide and we really enjoyed our day with her. Thank you Mayumi for guiding and helping us out. We will definitely contact you again next time we're in Tokyo.
Hello Mae, Thank you for those kind words. I’m happy to hear that I made your sightseeing meaningful. I enjoyed myself being with you despite of the terrible cold rain because of the warmth of your family. I have many other interesting places I want to show you, so please come back to Japan again! I’m looking forward to seeing you, Jerry and Bea again.
Mayumi did a superb job guiding me in Japan. She was thoroughly prepared for every aspect of my custom tour. Her English is excellent and she was both thoughtful and charming. I really felt cared for, and my adventures were wonderful. I couldn't have asked for more and would gladly recommend Mayumi to anyone.
Hello Adam, Thank you for hiring me as your guide and posting such a wonderful review about me. Yes! My mantra is “be prepared.” That means doing my homework thoroughly in advance to entertain my guests. But I enjoyed myself at this tour thanks to your thoughtfulness. It was not just fun but a learning experience for me. I can imagine how beautiful and also useful your books are for kids to touch another city and culture. I’m looking forward to your new book, “Good morning, Tokyo” in 2018. I really hope to see you again. Thank you again! Mayumi
We have had several good personal guided tours in many cities before but our tour with Mayumi was an outstanding experience. We are a family of four with two teenage boys. Mayumi was genuinely interested in our family and connected with each one of us. -planned a suitable, timely itinerary geared towards the teenager's interest while also introducing some Japanese history in an engaging way -Mayumi stopped at our hotel prior to our arrival and left us a letter regarding an enquiry we had regarding data plans for our phones -Mayumi is adaptable, patient, is very fluent in English -She made invaluable suggestions in terms of how we can search for reasonable, good local Izakaya style restaurants. This is extremely helpful as many restaurants in Tokyo can be very expensive. -After the tour, Mayumi suggested that we contact her if we had any further questions. She was willing to do anything for us (she even lent us her cell phone for a few minutes). It was both a pleasure and a lot of fun to spend the day with Mayumi as she has a nice personality and many different interests. We will definitely try to meet with Mayumi again one day. Thank You Mayumi Greg, Colleen, Michael, Thomas
Hi Colleen, Nice to hear from you! It’s a great honor to receive such an amazing review. I enjoyed visiting a lot of places with you. Thank you very much for everything you got me. The happy memories of the day encourages me to treat my future guests as thoughtfully as I can from now on too. I definitely want to see you again. Until then, I’ll keep improving my skill as a tour guide so as to entertain you much more! Please give my best regards to your gentle husband, Greg and your handsome kids, Michael and Thomas!
