Touring with Mayumi was one of the best decisions we made when planning our trip to Japan. She met us at our Airbnb and guided us through traditional customs, tourist spots, history and the railway system all while keeping it interesting. Mayumi was very knowledgable and engaging. We had 4 kids with us (ages 9, 11, 12, 13) and Mayumi seemed to connect with them and make them giggle. We toured 2 days with Mayumi in Tokyo seeing shrines, gardens, Skytree, Tsukiji (outer) Market, Gotokuji Temple, Monster Kawaii Cafe (a highlight for the kids), Pokemon store, Shibuya Crossing, Ginza, Harajuku district and more. She was very relaxed and patient, even with the kids' vending machine and snack obsession. She also had great suggestions for things to do after we parted ways. Mayumi also... read more
Thank you so much for posting such a warm and detailed review, Falon. It was a kind of exciting experience for me to find the hidden air bnb. That made me even happier when I finally met you finally. I won't be able to forget the pleasant days we spent together for good. I liked to see your kids trying to eat everything and enjoying Japanese culture. They were polite, and willing to adapt themselves to our culture. We have a saying, "The kids grow up as they were raised." I'm impressed how you are well educating your four children. I do want to see you all someday again. Please say hello to your husband and kids. I loved you all!!
Mayumi was very friendly and energetic and was very well informed on all the sites visited. Her english is very good and not hard to understand. Overall my family and I greatly enjoyed having her tour us.
Thank you so much for your kind review, Paola. It was really lucky for me to finally guide you on that day. Although the weather was not very good, we had a great day seeing many things and eating delicious foods. Thank you again for everything during the tour. Please say hello to your husband and cute daughter😊
Mayumi is amazing and the best! She met us at our hotel full of energy, excitement and ready to guide us through our day. We chose her based on her background with history and were not disappointed at all, in fact it was more than what we could have ever expected. Our day was filled with facts, informations and overall just good company. We experienced a great lunch based on her guidance as well. I simply cannot say enough good things about her. I would highly recommend her for sure. Thank you Mayumi for a phenomenal day.
Davena, I just noticed that my reply to your comments has yet to reach you though I did write to you before. I'm sorry about that. Anyway, thank you do much for writing such a great review. That was a beautiful day. We had so many things to see, so eat, and to shop in a limited time that our tour was fruitful and pleasant. As I thought the hair stick you bought was really pretty, I got back to that shop the next day to buy one for me. Now I remember you every time I use it. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity I could guide you other interesting places. Thank you for everything again. I love you too, Davena!
This is not my first trip to Japan. I have had many guides in the past. We hired Mayumi for Tokyo tour with our kids. Her English is excellent. She’s very knowledgeable and interesting tour guide. I highly recommend her for anyone seeking an English language tour of Tokyo.
Thank you for your writing a great review soon after our tour. It's very kind of you, Brian. It was a pleasant day with several happy unexpected things, which would make your stay in Tokyo even more unforgettable. I can imagine how all of you are enjoying every single moment after Tokyo as well. I hope you discover more yummy food and interesting culture in Japan. Thank you again and please say hello to your family.
We spent four hours with Mayumi walking through the Tsukiji outer fish market and around the Senso-ji temple in Asakusa. With three teenagers I often find it hard to keep their interest in cultural sights but all three said how much they enjoyed Mayumi’s commentary (a rare thing for them to say about a guide!). She was interesting and tailored her comments to what she thought the kids would be interested in. She didn’t bore them with too many historical facts. She took us to eat the best sushi in the fish market and showed us other famous food places such as Funawa which had the best soft serve green tea ice cream. Mayumi is highly knowledgable but more importantly has a fun personality and I would highly recommend having her as your Tokyo guide.
Thank you so much for your comment, Karen. I'm happy to hear your words. Although we spent only 4 hours, we had a pleasant time. I really appreciate your kindness. I'm sure you are enjoying your stay in Japan. How was the arcade in Akihabara? Did your kids see how Japanese so-called Otaku boys playing games amazingly well? Or your kids might be better gamers than them? And, speaking of ramen, Tenkaippin is one of a nationwide chain of pork-broth ramen, whose head shop is in Kyoto. It's so famous that many ramen fans go there when they are in Kyoto. But my recommendation is Daiichi-asahi near Kyoto Station. If you go there, you should do it early in the morning because there would be a long line in front of the shop from about noon to late afternoon. Please tell this info to your kids. I ho... read more
I travelled to Tokyo with my family of 5. Mayumi was extremely helpful right from the time we booked a tour with her, she helped us decide how to define the rest of our trip to Japan. She was always very quick to respond to our questions, provided very comprehensive responses and made great suggestions for our trip. During the 2 full days we spent with her she was highly flexible to accommodate our needs and designed the tour to make this a fantastic family trip. My children, wife and I felt at ease and very comfortable with Mayumi right from the beginning. The tour included a great combination of history, art, culture and local food. Besides having an extremely wide knowledge of Japanese history, she is an extremely kind, warm and charismatic person. We highly recommend her for anyone t... read more
Thank you for your writing such a warm review in the midst of your tour, Eduarudo. It's so sincere of you! We really had great days together. I was always happy to be asked questions by your children. Those questions gave me another perspective on our culture. Interesting to know that natural things in our society are sometimes very mysterious when seen from outside Japan. I enjoyed myself spending wonderful time with happy family like you. Now that I have a dream to visit you in Mexico, please stay in shape until we meet again. Please say hello to your family. Thank you again!!
Mayumi is the best private guide we have ever met. She went overboard to accommodate all the wishes of our granddaughter, Sarah, who choose the trip to Japan as her high school graduation gift from us. Sarah had a long list of places she wanted to see and do, which for the most part are all related to historical related places and shrines, etc. She is obsessed with amine and all the samurai characters involved in these videos. Not only that, she knows all the names and history involved in that period….very well! Mayumi went out of her way to put together a great 5 day tour including everything on Sarah’s list. So, Mayumi is flexible, knowledgeable, personable, open to new places (she had to do research to hunt done at least one of the monuments that Sarah wanted), energetic, but also sym... read more
Hello Betty, Hope you are doing well. Thank you so much for the great review. Although we'd had rainy days during your stay in Tokyo, we saw lots of interesting things that foreign tourists don't usually visit. I think that's a great idea to trace the footprint of samurai warriors at the end of the Edo period like Shinsengumi. I rediscovered the deep world at that time from other perspectives thanks to Sarah. I'm really impressed by her knowledge on Shinsengumi. And it was also good to visit the old soy sauce brewery in Kawagoe instead of Hakone in the heavy rainy day. Please stay in shape and let's go to Hakone to see Mt Fuji next time. I'm really looking forward to the next chance to show you around. Please say hello to Sarah and your husband!
Mayumi was incredible and did an excellent job with our family!!! I had been to Japan previously but it was a first for my family. It was our first full day in Japan and we covered a lot of territory and saw many interesting sites. She was extremely helpful in customizing a plan for us and kept in communication with us the entire time prior to our arrival. She was patient and very knowledgeable on all the subject matter we saw, both historical and cultural. Reviewed many guides before picking Mayumi and am very glad I made the right choice! Mayumi is the best!
Hi Kevin, Thank you so much for writing such a great review for me. I well remember the pleasant day with your family. All of you are so nice that we could spend a wonderful day together. I'm sure you enjoyed more food and culture while staying in Japan. I still have more things to show you. Don't come back to Japan without letting me know. I'd be super happy if I'd be your guide again. See you someday again!
All of us had a great time on our tour of Nikko with Mayumi. Met us at our hotel in Tokyo and made the day very easy for us. She was very knowledgeable. Also great with our kids. Would not hesitate to use her again. Thanks for a great day Mayumi!
Hey, James. What a pleasure to hear from you!! Thank you so much for posting such a great review. Hope you all are doing well. It was a great day filled with big smiles. I was very happy talking with adorable kids. I can't forget the pleasant smile when they finally got ice cream. I'll be waiting for another adventure with you in the near future. Please say hello to all the members of your group. Thank you again, James.
Mayumi was truly a delight. On time, very professional and very pleasant personality. if you want a great experience while visiting Tokyo my wife and I highly recommend choosing Mayumi as your quide and hostess to Tokyo for at least one of your touring days. After having spent one day with her our only regret , we didn't schedule Mayumi for both days.
Thank you for your quick and kind review, Tammie and Brian. It was quite a beautiful day with the beautiful couple. I enjoyed answering your questions, Brian. They gave me rediscovery on our culture. I learned that what's very common for us might be interesting and funny from another point of view. I had a pleasant time with you. I know you are busy travelers. I do want to show you more in Japan. Please come back to me someday in the near future. Please stay in shape until then. Looking forward to the next opportunity.
Mayumi was amazing! I feel like we got several tours in one because of her vast knowledge. We not only visited temples and shrines but we learned about the history, traditions, and importance of each place. It was a much better experience than going to see it on our own and we got a lot out of it. She showed us several good food places to try that we would not have found on our own. In Harajuku she gave us a lot of tips that we will use today to go back because we were just passing through. Finally she gave us tips that were just good to know and helped us to navigate better. Book her for a knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and fun guide! You won't regret it!
Thank you so much for your prompt and detailed review, Jana. I can well imagine you are enjoying shopping and exploring more today. Actually, the tour yesterday was packed with various attractions. Thank you again for walking all the way. Now that you learned about the four kinds of Buddhist statues, differences between temples and shrines, how to pray at each place, and Japanese culture to some extent, I'm sure you'll be able to appreciate places you'll visit after Tokyo even better. Please keep practicing Japanese during your tour. I'm impressed how well you say some Japanese phrases. Above all, your brightness made me happy. I really appreciate that you found me and shared the pleasant day with me. Enjoy every single moment in Japan! I hope your tour to japan is filled with the best of... read more
Mayumi was very informative and pleasant!
Thank you always for posting good reviews! I really appreciate it. I'm so encouraged.
A highlight day in our 4 weeks in Japan. Mayumi is a wonderful & considerate guide. We were very lucky to have very good weather so had wonderful clear views from the SkyTree & even saw Mt Fuji. Being a Sunday we saw a wedding group at a shrine & a baby ceremony with the Sumo wrestlers which were unexpected extras. We ate at a local cafe so were able to enjoy Japanese food. When in Tokyo we would highly recommend using her services.
Thank you for writing a wonderful review, Margaret. Yes! It was certainly a perfect day for the tour. Thanks to your good fortune, we saw a lot of unusually beautiful things. I enjoyed myself too!! I went far away from Tokyo to do 88 Pilgrimage Tour in Shikoku on the next day. We'd had bad weather for three days. I couldn't help but remind the beautiful day with you during the tour. I'm so happy you call the day a highlight day in your 4 weeks in Japan. Please stay in shape and cherish the great memory of Japan. Thank you.
Mayumi met is at our hotel on time and eager to show us Tokyo. We had not given her any direction as to what we would like to see, so she packed a lot into our time with her. We saw many different areas and tourist sites. We walked about 10 miles that day ( and she wasn’t even tired!!). She is very knowledgeable and informative about Japanese history and culture. A delightful guide!
Thank you so much for writing the great review in spite of your busy travel, Susan. I'm really happy to know you enjoyed the tour in Tokyo with me. I was a little worried about I might get you tired by trying to show you as much as possible... I'm sure you had also great days outside Tokyo. I'd like to hear the story of your adventure throughout Japan one day! I'll be wait for the next opportunity to show you more interesting places in Tokyo!! Thank you again!!
My clients, Mohan Ramachandran and his family, had a wonderful tour of Tokyo with Mayumi. On the first day, they visited the highlights of East Tokyo and on the second day, the key sights of West Tokyo. But more than seeing the sights, it was the introduction to Japan, and Japanese culture and life, that they appreciated the most. Being the first two days of a two week trip in Japan, Mayumi made them feel comfortable in Tokyo.
Thank you for posting such a great review, Ashish. I'm so happy to hear that I could help make their long journey in Japan more comfortable. I really appreciate the opportunity of meeting the nice family and guiding them for two days. Thank you again for finding me. I'm looking forward to the next chance I can help you!!!
We were in Tokyo for less than a day and Mayumi was really helpful in helping us navigate the city! It was raining when we went so we didnt want to do too much. But we did want to eat. She took us to the outer market of Tsukiji Which was the highlight of our day. We tried delicious seafood. She recommended this white strawberry which was really sweet. Then for lunch we had soba and some really good tonjiru. She also took us to a mall and helped us with shopping for some souvenirs! She also helped us get around the busy tokyo station. She is kind and caring. She shared her umbrella when ours broke! She was a great tour guide and we were happy she was there to help us!
Thank you for your writing such a kind and warm review, Maybelle. It was a really impressive day. Though we had rain that was not a slight one, we enjoyed our limited time as much as possible. I can't forget the king crab and the big shrimp we ate in the rain. That's quit an experience! I'm happy you remember the name, tonjiru. Let's do another food tour next time! I have a lot of places that foodies must visit.I can't wait for the next opportunity I'll be with you. Thank you again for everything you shared with me during the tour!!!
Mayumi is everything you want in a tour guide. She is warm, affable, knowledgeable and eager to please. Look no further.
Thank you for posting your kind review, Peter. I was happy to be able to find what you'd looked for. I'll be waiting for you and Ann to come back to me in the near future. Please keep in shape.
She gives a good background and understanding
Thank you so much for the prompt review in the middle of your busy travel, Jacob. Your questions gave me an opportunity to rethink our culture and history even deeply. I'll keep looking into those subjects so that I could give my clients better understanding about this country. Hope your travel to other parts of Japan will be filled with beautiful memories. Thank you again.
Well, all I can say is wow! Mayumi is amazing. I contacted her wanting to propose to my partner on Mt Takao. Happy to report it all went well! Haha. Thanks to Mayumi our day was perfect. I couldn't recommend her enough. Thanks so much again Mayumi!
Hi Drew, I was so happy to be with you on such an important day. Mt Takao was the perfect choice to do your thing, wasn't it? I can't forget the beautiful cherry blossoms and your smile when you reported it all went well. Can you imagine how I was nervous while waiting for you to come back? Anyway, I'd really appreciate this great opportunity given by you. Please give my regards to Azazi. May your marriage life be filled with love and happiness forever.
Mayumi is an excellent guide - smiling, friendly and very cooperative. She was willing to go out of her way to make our Tokyo trip very informative . She has good command over English (unlike some other triple lights guides).
Thank you for writing a great review, Ullhas. I was happy to accompany your group. I loved that Indian snacks we ate together in the garden. I wish I could cook them myself. Please give my regards to all the members of your group. Thank you again for everything.
My family and I spent 8 hours with Mayumi. She is extremely knowledgeable. Responds to emails promptly and was very patient with my many questions. She is excellent with children and teens. She has a very warm friendly personality. I highly recommend Mayumi.
Thank you for posting the prompt and sweet review in spite of your busy tour. I really enjoyed myself during the tour with the big family. I wish I could meet your Boss Baby too:) The cherry blossoms in Tokyo will be gone in a few days. I'll never see cherry blossoms without remembering your family in the future. The picture of me with your cherry blossom princess is my favorite! Thank you again for everything. I can imagine you are going on the pleasant travel throughout Japan. Hoping you all will enjoy every single minute!
Mayumi is an excellent guide. She is not only very experienced but also patient, flexible, thoughtful and considerate.
Thank you for posting a kind review in spite of your busy schedule, Sue. I was happy to be with you and your parents. I wish I could have shown you more places. If you have more time to stay in Japan next time, I'll take you to everywhere you'd like to go. Looking forward to the next chance! Please say hello to your sweet parents❣️
We had a wonderful day in Tokyo being whisked around the city with ease with Mayumi. She spoke English very well. She has lived in Tokyo her entire life and she knows the city very well. We learned so much about current day Japan as well as some history. She took us to beautiful spots where we saw the Cherry Blosssoms in full bloom and more. Great day all around We highly recommend hiring Mayumi!
Thank you so much for posting such a quick and warm review, Peige. It was unusually chilly yesterday, but we were enjoyed many things. I was happy to show you the beautiful cherry blossoms in Tokyo. Every food we ate during the tour was delicious and helped warm us up in the cold day. Thank you for sharing everything with me! There are other interesting and delicious specialties throughout Japan. You must experience more next time. I'll be waiting for you to come back to me in the near future. Please give my regards to David.
Mayumi has so much energy and tons of information to fill our heads. Much of what we learned with her on our first day in Japan helped us during the rest of our time while in all of Japan. My teens boys really enjoyed our time with her and if we ever go back to Japan I would ask for her again!
Thank you so much for writing such a great review, Anna-Marie. That sounds like you completed all destinations smoothly as you planned. I'm happy to hear that. Cherry blossoms are getting more and more gorgeous in Tokyo though we have had chilly days in the past week. The day we went to Nikko was one of the most beautiful days in March. We took many nice pictures there, didn't we? Thank you again for sharing the wonderful memory with me. I'm always ready to do another adventure with your family. Please say hello to your husband and boys!
It was great having Mayumi as our guide through Shibuya and Tokyo. She took us to see so many places and we are so thankful for her. We would not be able to navigate the crowd or the subway with out her.
Thank you so much for your quick and great review, Cindy. I'm sure you made it to Kyoto as you planned and are enjoying its totally different atmosphere from Tokyo. Boys seemed to explore more spots in Tokyo. I'd be happy if I'd be able to guide them to other exciting places next time. Please give my regards to all the members of your group. Hoping the rest of your days in Japan will be filled with even more blessings❣️🙏
We went to the skytree, Gonzaga district and saw a Kabuki play.
Thank you for giving me the high praise, Jerryl. You all are so good walkers that we could complete all the spots we planned in the two days. I really appreciate it. Did your grandkids enjoy the Kabuki play? Even if it's too difficult for them to understand, that experience gives them better understanding of Japanese tradition and culture, I think. I know you had a great travel throughout Japan. Please rest well when you make it home. I'd be happy if you'd remember me and come back to me someday. Please stay in shape.
To maximize our limited time in Tokyo, we booked Mayumi, and we're very glad we did. Mayumi recommended the "must see" things based on our interests. We loved getting around via the Tokyo subway system; with her help it couldn't have been easier. Mayumi was well spoken, well informed and interested in making sure we saw and did the things that were important to us.
Thank you for your kind review, Scott. I well remember how beautiful that day was. I can say it was not only beautiful but full of blessings. We saw the precious portable shrines ready to be carried out for the festival, and traditional wedding ceremony in Asakusa Shrine. The pretty yellow flowers in the flower field in Hama-rikyu gardens we saw are almost over now. Japan Meteorological Agency finally declared the cherry blossom flowering on March 21, but it takes about 10 days to be in full bloom. I'm really happy you thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful spring day with me. Thank you again for every kindness you showed me during the tour. I'm always ready to help you appreciate various attractions in Japan. Please ask me anything anytime you want to.
Mayumi picked us up at the hotel and brought us to Hakone, where we had a lovely day including cable cars and pirate ship. It was a lovely day and Mayumi took care of everything, it was a great start to our trip to Japan. Thank you Mayumi!
Hi Nicole, thank you for posting a great review. It was certainly a lovely day though the weather has been changeable these days. I've not seen more beautiful Mt Fuji since then. Thanks to your cooperation like you booked the bullet train for everyone including me in advance, everything went so smoothly and we could enjoy must-sees of Hakone without rush in the 8-hour tour from Tokyo. I really appreciate it. As you are a skillful traveler, I'd like to guide you to hidden scenic spots next time. Looking forward to doing the tour in the near future!
Mayumi was great as a tour guide! Her spoken English is excellent. We would recommend her to anyone wanting to see Tokyo. Before we met, she had researched the places and routes. We discussed various ideas of where to visit before settling on a good itinerary. On the day, she gave us a lot of insight into the historical and cultural aspects of the places we were visiting. There were some little details we loved, like taking us to a good little shop that sells pancakes with bean paste. We went back to our hotel tired but having thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review, Matthew. As you shared your idea well in advance, I could do my homework so as not to waste time. I'm happy to know you really enjoyed the tour with me. Let's do somewhere off the beaten path next time. Please say hello to Monica❣️See you again!
Although our day in Tokyo was a rainy one, that didn’t hinder Mayumi from being an amazing guide! She took took us all around, from shrines, temples, to fish markets and Harajuku fashion! Our day tour had a wonderful mix of what the city had to offer, and with Mayumi sharing her knowledge of each place, we truly appreciated Tokyo. Also, we had spur of the moment souvenir requests (from soccer apparel to Hello Kitty) and she knew exactly where to take us. She even helped us out with all of our travel needs the next few days we were in Japan- from assisting in booking our Shinkansen to/from Kyoto/Osaka to showing us New Yorkers how to navigate the subways. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide
Hi, Nicole! Thank you so much for writing a great review. Your words remind me of the wonderful day we spent together. I'd never forget your big smile when taking a picture with the Hello Kitty ribbon on your head:) Exactly, it was a rainy day, but we shared a lot of interesting experiences. I really appreciate it. I'm happy to have helped make your travel easier. I can well imagine you fully enjoyed Kyoto and Osaka too. I'm looking forward to planning your next adventure together again. Thank you!!!
Mayumi, was a wonderful guide. We had 3 children ages 6,7, and 10. Traveling through Tokyo with kids can be difficult but Mayumi made it seamless and easy. We had a great mix of seeing old and new Tokyo and Mayumi was very knowledgeable. She took us to a great Ramen shop, wonderful temple and shrines, and gardens of the imperial palace. The weather was wonderful and we even saw a few cherry blossoms. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mayumi
Thank you for your quick and sweet review, Brandon. I've just made it home from Kyoto tour, thinking of your having great days there too. I'm so happy to have been with you for the two days. Did you know that anyone who saw your kids couldn't help smiling? I often heard people saying "Kawaii!" around us. You are enjoying Tokyo and western part of Japan this time. There are peaceful and beautiful places in the eastern part of Japan too. I do want to guide you there next time. I'll be waiting for you to come back to me again. Please say hello to your wife and angels. Thank you, thank you, thank you Brandon!!!
Mayumi was a great guide. Punctual, knowledgeable, interesting and interested in us too. She happily walked us around in the rain to the Palace and Asakusa and found a good sushi restaurant for lunch. At the end of our tour she took us to the museum and made sure we knew how to return to hotel by metro. We would certainly use her services again.
Thank you so much for your quick review, Deanne. I'm happy to hear you really enjoyed the tour with me in spite of the cold rain. I hope you are having a happy and safe cruise now. I have more places to show you next time. I'll be waiting for you to use my service again. Take care and say hello to Lez, please. See you!
With my wife and son and his wife. We were taken to all the places we wanted to see. MAyumi was the best. Nothing was too much trouble. Cheers
Thank you for posting the kind review quickly in the midst of your busy travel. I really enjoyed myself being with you and your family. You made me laugh a lot! I still can't help but chuckle when think of our trip. Thank you again for giving me such a wonderful time. Let's do another tour in and outside Tokyo next time. I believe our paths will cross again. Kisses!
I only had a day in Tokyo, between flights. In five hours, she showed me everything there was to see in downtown Tokyo. I recommend the store to anyone who has a layover or as a synopsis of the city to see on your first day of your trip to Tokyo . Mayumi Was pleasant, energetic and had impeccable English. She also is very knowledgeable about the city of Tokyo.
What a lovely surprise to hear from you, Christine! Thank you so much for writing the great review. I've often reminded the tour with you and imagined how busy you are helping people around the world. Thanks to you, I rediscovered that I can help people learn a synopsis of our city in a brief tour. It's still cold in Tokyo but sometimes I feel like spring is approaching day by day. It seems that cherry blossoms start blooming in the middle of March. I hope you'll come back to me someday. I have a lot of ideas for the next time. Thank you!
I can’t imagine a better guide than Mayumi. Not only did she provide a wealth of information and had an excellent command of the English language, but she was always upbeat , flexible and helpful. My husband and I would not have enjoyed our Tokyo visit without her.
Thank you for your kind words, Suzanne. I enjoyed myself with you too. I was thinking of you having a great time, viewing the beautiful Mt Fuji the following day. Hope your hasband has completely got well. Please given my regards to him and thank you again for everything during the tour. Let's visit another area together next time!
We love Mayumi. My wife and I enjoyed being with our new Japanese friend. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We would certainly recommend her to our friends that come to Tokyo. Thanks for giving us a wonderful time in the big city of yours. Robert and Trudie Sharpe. Melbourne Australia.
I love you and Trudie too, Robert. Such a pleasure to be called your new friend. I'm so happy to hear your kind words. It was impressive to have the greatly different weather in our 2-day tour. It was very cold when we were in Asakusa and we had a warm and beautiful day in Kamakura. I well remember how peaceful the zen garden was and how happy and calm Trudie looked while in the tranquility. You were quick travelers this time, but please spend more time in Japan next time so that I can show you even deeper culture. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity. Thank you!
We only had 1,5 days to discover Tokyo and Mayumi showed us around in a pleasant and welcoming way. She is very knowlegdable and accurate. In addition she was extremely flexible, attentive to our needs and adjusted to our wishes even if this conflicted with the initial itinerary. But most of all she is a very very friendly, cheerful and pleasant person to spend your time with. Next time in Tokyo we will def book again with Mayumi and we really recommend her to everyone!
Hello Josine. Hope all of you are doing well. Thank you so much for posting such a lovely review. Yes, it was only 1.5 days, but we had a happy and fulfilled tour thanks to the warmness of your family. I really appreciate it. We've had cold days since then, but the day we did the tour was the only snowy day in Tokyo. That makes the tour with you more unforgettable and beautiful memory for me. As you know, Japan has four different seasons, which give people different pleasures. You fully enjoyed our winter in Hokkaido and Tokyo this time. Please come back to me in another season so I can guide you even more exciting spots according to the season. I'm really looking forward to meeting you again. Please say hello to Alex, Emmy, Fenna, and Pip. Big hug and kisses!
Taking Tokyo Walking City Tour with Mayumi San.. was incredible... she’s so passionate, cheerful, attentive...super friendly.. paying soo much attention to my family, especially my llittle kid who need encouragement to walk a lot...😍.. She also has a really good knowledge about Japan History n culture.. knows the answer of anything we asked...My kids love her, keep asking about her after the tour Finished.. Domo arigato gozaimashita Mayumi San.. looking forward to be with you again.. next time I visit Japan... cheers...
We met Mayumi at our hotel lobby in the morning and she led us to many tourist attractions that we were interested in visiting. She also helped us getting the cards for subways and taught us how to enter temples and shrines correctly. She also introduced some local street food that were very delicious. She is super friendly and great with our children. Her English is excellent, easily the best tour guide in Tokyo.
Thank you for writing the great review for me, Nian. Hope everybody is doing well. You were such a quick learner that you became like an expert of Japan after the tour with me. I well remember that. I also well remember the kids’ smile at the owl café. It was really a happy moment for me to see how they are enjoying petting owls from tiny ones to huge ones with their courage. I know that temples and shrines are a bit boring for kids, but they were patient enough to learn manners and culture perfectly. I really admire their attitude. It’s getting even colder in Japan. I imagine that you are spending hot summer at home. Happy New Year and May 2019 bring even more blessings to your family. Thank you again and say hello to Tall Tim.
Mayumi was a pleasure to be with. She planned the day out really well and was very organized. She is knowledgeable about all of Japan and even provided historical details on the places we visited. We had so many random questions and requests and she was able to answer/fulfill them all! Hanging out with her was a treat, I would definitely recommend!
Thank you so much for writing the kind and swift review in the midst of the tour. I’m really happy to know you enjoyed the tour with me. I learned a lot of interesting things from David during the tour. He has a different eye and I enjoyed talking with him. I was also happy to be able to discover the shop you bought super cute tutu thanks to your request. You enjoyed the unique atmosphere in Japanese New Year this time, but we still have various attractions. Now that I know your preference, I already have some ideas I’d like to do with you next time. One of the places is a popular ramen shop in Kawagoe. The old town Kawagoe has become more and more popular among foreign tourists. We booked a one day-trip (8-hours) around Tokyo with Mayumi during our honeymoon trip to Japan. Mayumi was such a great guide and we were flushed with her energetic spirit. She was punctual on the meeting day and showed up at our hotel's lobby with a bright smile. She was very helpful to show us how to do the metro cards to get around Tokyo. Additionally, Mayumi was such a great help to assist us in booking for Kimono and Rickshaw Ride experience around Asakusa in such a short notice. We were glad that we had made our choice in booking the private tour with Mayumi, as both of my husband and myself felt really comfortable with her. We highly recommend Mayumi to everyone who is deciding on a customised tour in Tokyo via Triplelights. Happy New Year to you, Mayumi and hope that you will get t... read more
Hi Betty and Khang, hope your newly-married life is filled with happy moments. Thank you for posting your great review for me. I really appreciate that you shared the beautiful memories with me. You two looked so good in the traditional kimono that I can’t forget your happy smile. I saw the rickshaw driver who treated you the other day, he also remembered you well. It seems that the beautiful couple were so impressive for all who met you. When you came back to me, I’ll show you other beautiful spots and help you experience even more interesting culture. I’ll be waiting for the next chance to be with you. Happy New Year to you too and May 2019 bring you even more blessings. PS. I have a dream of visiting Rottnest Island in the near future. If it comes true, I’d like to see you in Perth. read more
We had a wonderful time with Mayumi. Mayumi is so bubbly and friendly and her positive energy is simply infectious. Mayumi patiently showed us all around Central Tokyo and Southern Tokyo over 3 full days from December 15th-17th 2018. We told Mayumi the things we wanted to do and see and we let her plan our days for us. Mayumi planned an interesting agenda of history and pop-culture places to visit, ensuring that everyone in our varied age group had a good time. Thanks to Mayumi we covered more than we expected and had a truly enjoyable first experience of amazing Tokyo. Mayumi shared many historical facts and stories with us along the way, making our sight-seeing meaningful and educational. We definitely recommend Mayumi and it is a pleasure to know that we now have a lovely new friend in ... read more
Dear Sarah, thank you so much for writing such a lovely review for me. I was really happy to be a member of your group for the three days. Though we visited a lot of places, there are still many attractions in Tokyo and nearby cities. Japan has so many places worth visiting that even the Japanese can hardly complete all. I’ve sometimes guide people to places that could be called hidden treasures. You’ll also be able to enjoy different experience in different season in Japan. I definitely want to meet you again and have even more great time with you. I’m looking forward to seeing you again. See you!
Mayumi was a fantastic guide. Though I had one place I knew I wanted to go, Mayumi was very helpful in providing suggestions on what else we could do nearby. And I’m so glad she did because she chose a food and crafts festival which I probably never would’ve thought of. My family and I ended up buying several souvenirs here (Mayumi helped negotiate), and then ate some delicious foods. Thanks again Mayumi!
Thank you so much for posting the kind review, Brian. I can well imagine you enjoyed exploring the city after I leave you. All of you were such quick learners that I didn’t worry about leaving you after the 4-hour tour. I remember your buying nice craftworks including the beautiful tie-dye, and pretty vases made of Shigaraki ceramic. You were lucky enough to stay in Tokyo during the festival. If you have another opportunity to come to Japan, please visit here in spring next time. I’d like to guide you to a special place where you can enjoy the beautiful spring and experience something unique. I’m always ready to entertain you. Please say hello to your father and bothers. Thank you again, Brian.
Mayumi was very helpful, our group of three adults booked her for one day in mid November. It was our second day in Tokyo and the first time in the city for most of us. My wife said it was like taking a tour with a friend. Mayumi gave us a lot of history and interesting tidbits about the city and sites as we went along. When she picked us up from our hotel she suggested that we add a stop at Tokyo Tower because it was a nice day. We discovered what she meant when we arrived, when we were greeted with a crisp clear view of Mount Fuji. It was the only time on our trip we were able to view it. We walked so much, it felt like we walked 20 miles at the end of the day. My wife and I aren’t the fastest walkers but Mayumi was patient and we covered a lot of ground, in addition to Tokyo Tower ... read more
Hello Tyrone, it’s such a pleasure to hear from you. Thank you so much for the great and detailed review. Actually, it was the best day to see the breathtaking view of Mt Fuji from Tokyo. There have not been better days since then so far. Thank you for sharing your good fortune with me. I’m also very happy to know that you successfully got the tickets of Mori Digital Art Museum and enjoyed it. How lucky you were! I can well imagine your trip to Japan must have been filled with great memories. And I really appreciate that your daughter has already passed my information to her friends. I can assure you that I always struggle to give the best service to each of my guest. Please give my best regards to her. Don’t forget to let me know when you come back to Tokyo. I’ll be waiting for the day. S... read more
We spent two full days in Tokyo with Mayumi and we can't be happier! She is very personable, energetic, has a good sense of humor and has very good English skills. I can't even imagine how we could have done without her! Tokyo train system is very complicated to start, but after two days of intensive tours, we were comfortable enough to continue on our own. We planned everything together beforehand, but the itineraries are very flexible, as we had to make some changes due to the weather. It is difficult to choose the right tour guide, but Mayumi was the best choice we've made. I highly recommend Mayumi, you will not be disappointed!
Dear Edita, thank you for giving me the hearty review. I’m so happy you seem to have fully enjoyed your stay in Japan. I can well imagine how you appreciated the beautiful autumn color both in Tokyo and in Kyoto. I haven’t taken the boat, Emeraldas since we got on board it because it’s too popular to get the tickets. Every time I do the river cruise, I can’t help remembering you. Thank you again for sharing the great two days with me. I really enjoyed talking a lot of things with you and Romas. Please keep in touch and see you again!
We had a great time in Tokyo thanks to Mayumi. She will accommodate what you need and has a great knowledge of history that is needed in goin to a tour like this. She brought us to a wonderful lunch overlooking the river in Asakusa. She assisted us in going back to the hotel.
Thank you so much for writing the great review, Stuart. I was happy to join your annual family reunion. We could complete all we had planned thanks to your cooperation though you were a big group. I won’t forget the beautiful sunset I saw with you. If you and your family members have some time to do sightseeing while you are in Japan on a business trip, please let me help you appreciate another attraction of Japan. Please give my regards to everyone. Thank you again.
Mayumi was a wonderful guide for our Tokyo tour. We had a whole day visiting different parts of this beautiful city. Mayumi is a excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and also flexible in accommodating to our schedule and points of interests. We enjoyed getting to know her. We will contact Mayumi next time we visit Tokyo.
Thank you so much for writing the sweet review for me, Iliana. I well remember your big smile when you stood of the glass floor of the Tokyo Skytree. We enjoyed the very Tokyo-like aspects in the limited time, didn’t we? I’m happy to know you really enjoyed it. There are places you can see different atmosphere and learn more about the history of Samurai period nearby prefecture too. I’d like to show you them next time. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. Thank you and see you again!
Mayumi was our tour guide for five consecutive days in Japan. She was fantastic! Her English was excellent. She was extremely flexible as we needed to adjust our plans several times due to inclement weather. Her extensive knowledge about all the sites we went too was amazing. The first day was a full day tour in Yokohama. She picked us up at the cruise port at the end of our cruise. We walked to a number of places near where the cruise ship docked and then continued on to many other places of interest there. An interesting experience was going to the Cup of Noodles museum where we made our own unique Cup of Noodles. Day two Mayumi picked us up at our hotel in Tokyo and we spent the day in Kamakura. We utilized the train to get around and we found it to be the best way to get aroun... read more
I’m amazed to have such a fantastic and hearty review so quickly! We’ve just said good bye to each other. I really appreciate it, Walter. Your review reminds me of our pleasant 5 days. As you learned everything quickly and moved swiftly, we could complete everything we’d like to do. I was so happy to show you Mt fuji though it has been cloudy lately. We encountered a lot of happy moments and took great pictures. I made sure that you were blessed with great fortune. I also enjoyed jumping in local people and other tourists with you. That’s a great memory for me too. Thank you again for everything you gave me this time. I already miss you! Please give my regards to everyone. Hoping our paths will cross again.
Mayumi was excellent: knowledgeable, personable and went out of her way to create a tailor-made day to please all of us.
Thank you, Ramona. I'm so happy to hear that. Hope kids are fully enjoying every single minute! Thank you again for sharing pleasant memories with me. I'm looking forward to hearing form you one day again.
Miyumi was a fantastic tour guide. Lots of fun and very knowledgeable about the different areas we saw. She is very good with children and was very helpful as we needed to visit a pharmacy'. Thanks very much for a fantastic time Miyumi.
Thank you, Melissa. I’m happy to hear your kind words. The medicine seems to work for you. I’m released to know that. How’s your adventure going? I can well imagine how Will is enjoying eating lots of different things at each destination. It’s getting colder especially early in the morning and at night. Please take care not to catch a cold and enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan. Please say hello to everyone. May your travel be memorable and filled with happy moments!
I have traveled to many countries with travel guides and Mayumi has definitely been the best! She showed us a part of Tokyo we would never experienced on our own. What an amazing day!!
Thank you for writing the quick and great review in the middle of your busy travel, Kathryn. I really appreciate that you see me as the best guide you've hired. I guess you are enjoying your adventure in Hanoi. I won’t forget the pleasant tour we spent together. You were very busy traveler this time. Please come back to Japan as I have a lot more places to show you. I do want to see you all again. Please give my regards to them. I’m hoping your safe and happy travel. Thank you again.
Mayumi is a charming, delightful, articulate, and knowledgeable guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her and would utilize her services again. We recommend her highly.
Thank you so much for posting the fantastic review on the way of your great journey. I’m sure you are enjoying the spectacular landscape of the nature in Kyushu. I hope you all will enjoy every single minute and your travel will be filled with unforgettable memories. I still have a lot of places to show you. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me again. Please stay in shape and give my regards to everyone. Thank you for everything again.
We had a great time with Mayumi. She is quite knowledgeable about the history of the sites shown and made the day enjoyable for us and our teenagers. She selected a great place for lunch and showed us places that we would not have otherwise found ourselves. Thank you so much for a great day.
Such a pleasure to hear from you, Shane! Thank you so much for your great review. I really appreciate your sharing the pleasant day with me. I can't visit Tsukiji Market without thinking of you and your family. You bravely tried the sea urchin and enjoyed it! As you know, though the inner market of Tsukiji Market has already moved to Toyosu, the outher market remains there and is always crowded with people who enjoy buying and eating fresh food. I'm still asked to guide people there. But no one has tried the sea urchin since then. I'm happy to know you fully enjoyed the day with me. Please say hello to your family. I do want to see you again!! Thank you.
Mayumi is an incredibly kind and knowledgeable guide. She showed us around some fantastic parts of Tokyo and catered to our needs. We travelled with my 3.5 year old daughter and Mayumi was able to tailor our trip to include child friendly activities. I will be recommending Mayumi to my friends and family if they visit Tokyo! Thank you again for your time and sharing Tokyo with us. Elise, Sophie and Vivi xoxo
Hi Elise, Sophie, and Vivi!! Thank you so much for posting such a great review in the midst of your busy travel. I’ve just been to Osaka and I often thought of you all during my stay in Osaka. There must be a lot of new things to eat for you. Did Vivi like the street food in Osaka? I’m sure she was willing to try everything and loved by people who you met at each place. I guess you were enjoying in Kyoto as well. I still have lots of things I’d like to show you in Tokyo. Please come back here again. I always pray for your best fortune and our reunion. Thank you for sharing the happy memories with me. Mayumi
What an amazing day. Loved Mayumi right from the start. Warm welcome easy to talk to and very informative. Saw some amazing places, ate lovely food and you really made our day a special one to remember. Thank you so much. Kerry & Terry
Thank you for giving me a great review, Kerry & Terry. It was such a lovely day. I’m really happy you enjoyed the full-day tour with me. Your adventurous curiosity made our tour more pleasant than usual. I’ll do my homework to entertain you next time. I’m looking forward to showing you more in the future. Thank you!
Mayumi spent a few hours with me getting me up to speed on Shinjuku and Harajuku. They were extremely informative with modern and historical perspective. The short personal tour helped inform my 5 days in Tokyo immensely.
Thank you for your posting a good review for me, Rod. We saw many places that’d be interesting for you in a very limited time. I’m happy to know that you thought it was extremely informative. I’m sure that you must have been a good guide for your mother from the next day. If there’s anything I can help you when you came back to Japan, please let me know. I’m always ready to guide you to other areas. Thank you!
Our time with Mayumi was amazing! She is very knowledgeable about Japanese history and culture. But most importantly, she is very warm and attentive. Her enthusiasm transferred to us, and made our days with her all the better. Thank you, Mayumi!!
Thank you so much for posting the great review for me, Cristina. I’m happy to know you enjoyed every single moment at each place in Japan. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I strongly hope our paths will close again. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me to enjoy the beauty of another season in Japan. See you again!
My 15 year old son and I had several days in Tokyo. To make the most of our limited the time we hired Mayumi for two days. She contacted us in advance and we described our previous experiences in Tokyo and interests (I have been there in the past on business but have seen very little of the city and its surroundings). She suggested some different options including the possibility of going to Kyoto for a day (which we took her up on). Our first day itinerary in Tokyo included a visit to the Tsukijji fish market, the Sensoji temple and Asakusa, tea ceremony, the Tokyo-Edo museum and finishing with a visit to Akihabara. Mayumi has a very good sense of how long we would want to spend in each location and is also willing to change or add stops as desired. She planned numerous rest and... read more
Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful and detailed review for me, Steven. I’m really happy to hear your words. I enjoyed answering your questions and helping you appreciate various attractions of our country. Do you remember the tea bowls you chose for each other in the tea ceremony? I thought that was a nice choice that shows deep understanding toward each other. Thank you for sharing the peaceful and happy moment with me. And while our Kyoto excursion, we had a great day as well. I’m guiding a guest to so-called Saigoku 33 pilgrimage these days. I’ve rediscovered the beauty of old temples and culture in Kyoto and nearby cities. If you’d come back to Japan, I’d help you have a deeper appreciation of our old history and culture. BTW, I’d say you were lucky enough to see Mt Fuji on... read more
Mayumi was wonderful and we had a great day in Tokyo with her. She is kind, thoughtful, and very knowledgeable about the city and history of Tokyo. Her English is also prefect. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to hire a tour guide while in Tokyo.
We had the most lovely morning with Mayumi. She arrived to meet us at our hotel and immediately helped us to understand where we were and how to get around the city. She took us to a cool observation deck and explained all about the city. Then she gave us a fun and interesting tour around Senso-ji shrine. She helped us plan our trip, answered questions and was really lovely to spend time with. We really enjoyed our time with Mayumi and would recommend her to anyone looking for a friendly, well informed and fun tour guide. Thank you Mayumi!
Thank you so much for posting such a great and quick review. I can well imagine how your trip is going on. You got a super pretty nail the next day! Now you’re experiencing several kinds of weather in Japan, aren’t you? That’s quite a part of adventure! Don’t come back to Japan without letting me know that. I’d love to guide you to totally different places next time. I’m looking forward to seeing your angel in April. Take care and thank you again, Saskia.
Mayumi made our introduction to Tokyo a truly memorable one. She helped us to craft a great itinerary, navigate public transport, get our bookings sorted for intercity travel later in our trip and organised some alternative experiences during the day when the weather turned. Mayumi is a very charming and informative guide. Thanks for a great day.
Thank you very much for your swift review, Colin. We had a great day because of your patience in a rainy and windy day as a typhoon was approaching Tokyo. I really appreciate it. It seems that you’ll have consecutive fine days during the rest of your stay in Japan. But please take sufficient precaution against intense heat as it may be too hot and humid for you. I’ll never forget your beautiful smile that made me happy in the tea ceremony experience. I hope your trip to Japan will be filled with beautiful memories. Please give my love to Robyn.
We had a great time touring Tokyo with Mayumi and getting adjusted on our first day. Though it was quite hot and humid, Mayumi planned a great day for us knowing that our itinerary the next day included a cycling tour of the city, so there was no overlap. We saw a number of historical and cultural sites and Mayumi was able to keep us informed of its significance in Japanese history. We got along quite well and if we find ourselves back in Tokyo, I will not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your good review, Jon. I was worried about your remaining days in Tokyo because it was too hot. But I remember that I felt a little relief as the day you attended the cycling tour was not so hot as I’d expected. I’m sure you had great days in Japan. Now that I know how vigorous your family are, I can suggest several adventures throughout Japan. Please come back to me, and I’ll help you explore the hidden places according to your interests. Looking forward to your reaching out to me again!
Mayumi is an excellent, experienced guide. She helped in planning the itinerary after learning a bit about us, —3 young men traveling with their grandfather. She sensed quickly our pace and what interests we had. Amazing, interactive, excellent English, could not ask for a better guide. She gave us the detail of each place, but only what she knew we would want, not exhaustive and never boring. She carefully picked our lunch site from many she could have chosen, and suggested we eat one evening at the Banya on the 49th floor of a building near our hotel. She also remembered my previous request before the trip for directions the next day after our full, fun, factual and fabulous tour of much of Tokyo.
Thank you so much for posting your kind and fabulous review amid your long journey. It was a great nine-hour tour. I’m impressed at how vigorously you all could walk all the way during the tour. I can imagine you are enjoying each spot on your cruise now. How was the festival you were looking forward to attending? That must have been exciting. I’m reading the book you wrote everyday on my way to pick up my guest on a train. Mysteriously enough, I feel that my mind gets peaceful thanks to your words. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to pause and take a closer look at myself. I do want to see you again. To dive with your grandsons is also added to my dream list. Thank you again and say hello to them.
Mayumi was a knowledgeble and friendly tour guide. I went on two half day tours. The first day, she took me around to see the a Budahhist temple, Tsukiji Fish Market, Hama-rikyu Gardens (with a DIY tea ceremony experience), then Odaiba to have a delicious Japanese lunch in a restaurant overlooking Tokyo Bay. The next day, we saw "old Japan", east side. We went to Asakusa and saw the famous Sensoji Temple, did some shopping along the shops leading to the entrance, then visited a local store with Japanese goods. Afterwards, we visited a fun plastic food store, "Replica Foods " in the kitchenware district. This was follwed by a delicious lunch of okonomiyaki & hiroshimayaki. Mayumi took great care of creating a great itinerary for me to see much of what Tokyo has to offer.
Thank you so much for your detailed and wonderful review, Nicole. They were great two day tours in spite of the intense heat. I can’t believe our tour was over all too soon. I realized that time flies like an arrow when I’m having a good time. I still have a lot of things I’d like to show you in and outside Tokyo. I’m looking forward to our next adventure. See you again.
We spend our first day in Tokyo with Mayumi and she was a truly splendid guide for both myself, my wife and our two kids (11 and 8).
Thank you so much for writing a good review for me. Whenever I go to Asakusa, the goldfish scooping shop reminds me of your kids. Though it was amid the intense heat in summer, we enjoyed the whole day seeing and experiencing as much as possible. What’s the most impressive for me is your kids’ smile. Thank you for giving me the happy memories!
Fabulous and more! Mayumi was so adaptable to changes we asked at the last minute. She kept us on track and the time flew bye. Our family wished we'd booked her for longer. An absolute treasure.
Nancy, thank you for writing a great review for me. That evening tour was so exciting! Thank you for everything. You were lucky enough to encounter the local summer festival in Shimbashi. And the dinner we had was fabulous and I really enjoy being a member of your family. I wish I could have been with you longer. Please say hello to Frank, Christopher, and Francesca.
Despite foggy and drizzly weather, Mayumi gave us a wonderful tour punctuated with historical footnotes and insights into Tokyo life. We had three generations on her tour and everyone agreed afterwards that we wished we could do an additional day with her! Cheryl,Lew,Joey,Jeni,Nancy,Holly and Chanin
Thank you so much for writing a wonderful review, everyone! I’ll never forget your party, which consists three generations of pleasant people. I was concerned about your trip to other areas of Japan because of the weather. How was the temple of Kyoto? I guess you could appreciate the beauty of moss-covered dry landscape garden of Saiho-ji Temple. I wish I could be with you longer. Please say hello to everyone. See you someday again!
We had a wonderful day with Mayumi. She showed us the important sights in Tokyo. She was very pleasant and accommodating. Thank you Mayumi.
Thank you for posting the good review. I hope you were having great days in Japan. I well remember how hot when we were in Asakusa but you were eager to learn many things. I really appreciate it. If possible, come to Japan again in another season to enjoy different beauty of our city. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me someday. Please say hello to your family. Thank you again!
Mayumi was prompt, energetic , informative, and flexible enough to maneuver slight changes we made to our itinerary. We wanted to hire her another day but she was booked up for the rest of the month. We had a terrific day with her! Will definitely have our friends use her when they go to Tokyo.
Thank you for writing such a great review for me, Louise. Though it was a super hot day, we enjoyed walking around the city. I wish I could have guided you another day too. I still have lots of places where I can entertain you. Please come back to me again. I’ll keep researching shops and restaurants for you. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity. Give my best regards to your sweet husband. Thank you again.
We had a wonderful time with Mayumi! She had setup a tour for us to go see quite a few places but we had too much fun trying food at Tsukiji Fish Market, enjoying the tour at Imperial Palace, and Asakusa. If we had more time we would definitely book another tour with her again. Thank you!!
Thank you for posting the good review amid your busy travel. I was so happy to be with you. I'm so impressed by Ethan's patience. Did you notice that his smile made everybody smile. I'd be happy if we'd spend some time together again. I'll be careful not to overdo next time. Please do come back to me someday! Thank you.
The tour with maumi was spectacular it was so good we definitely recommend our friends to enjoy the day with maumi. She was professional, polit.and very nice behavior Thank you maumi From ori and arin sterenfeld ❤️
We are a family of four with two girls ages 11 and 15. We spent three wonderful days in Tokyo with Mayumi. She planned a very well-balanced itinerary for us that included a great mix of old and new Japanese culture. Mayumi was always on time, super-energetic and kind. Her English is excellent and she is flexible and accommodating. I would highly recommend her to anyone travelling to Tokyo!
Thank you so much for posting such a great review, Lourdes. I do appreciate your sharing the wonderful three days with me. I enjoyed all the conversation we had during the tour too. I’ll never forget your family. I guess girls are enjoying summer camp and you’ve got back to the busy days. Please say hello to them and take care. I believe we’ll meet again! Thank you!!
My friend and I were totally thrilled with Mayumi. She was prompt and professional. Her suggestions were all perfect. We felt totally at ease and her knowledge of Japanese history and art made our visit very meaningfull. We concidered venturing out on our own and are so glad we decided to go with Mayumi. It was wonderful day full of great things.
Thank you so much for your great review, Diane. I’m happy you really enjoyed the tour. I was taught a lot of things by you during the tour. Thank you, my teacher. I saw the pictures you’d taken. They are amazing! I recognized anew that you are a great artist. I can imagine you are having a good time and discovering beautiful things with your different eyes in Takayama and Kyoto. Please take care and see you again. Say hello to Mary, please. Thank you!
Mayumi has all the qualities of a great and professional guide: her punctuality, knowledge about Tokyo, flexibility and her sweet personality make her one of the best guide we ever had.
Thank you so much for those kind words, Samuel. I was very happy that they were open to anything and eager to experience different things. I felt something warm and sweet when I saw their smile in the hedgehog café. Your sons are so gentle and polite, which made our tour more enjoyable. I do want to be your guide someday again. Thank you.
Mayumi San is a lovely, fun person with great English and knowledge about Tokyo. My 17 year old son and I spent 2 fantastic days ( Mon and Wed) being taken about Tokyo by Mayumi. The first day was in typhoon weather but still thoroughly enjoyable, due to Mayumi’s delightful personality and the thrill of being in this awesome city. She changed the schedule to better suit the weather and we ended up doing some specialised shopping ( very small shoes and retro gaming stuff) on our first day in Ginza and Akihabara, as well as Tsukiji fish market and managing to purchase tickets for DisneySea, thanks to Mayumi’s help. This experience was incredibly successful for both my son and myself and Mayumi was so cheerful and patient. Everything would have taken twice as long if we’d done it by ours... read more
Sonja-san! I can’t express how I am grateful to you for your writing such a wonderful and heartwarming review. I can’t go back to Ginza without remembering your shopping in Diana. I’ve never met a person who bought that many shoes. Now I’m even more surprised to know that you added 5 more! Amazing!! I’m really happy you totally enjoyed your stay in Japan. I was enjoying myself wherever I went with you and Pax. Thank you for sharing those fantastic memories with me. You have to come back to Japan next year to watch the World Cup of rugby and get more shoes, maybe. I believe we can meet again soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Sonja-san. I’m looking forward to meeting you again!
Mayumi-San was fantastic. Her knowledge of multiple aspects of Japanese life, culture and history was informative and really good fun. From diverse activities such as the Meiji Shrine to the Tokyo Fish Market to Electric town Mayumi-SAN had lots of experience and knew where to go and what to see to ensure we had a great time. I will definitely be recommending her to my friends and colleagues when they visit Japan and suggest that you hire her on your next trip to Tokyo.
Excellent tour. Mayumi was wonderful with explaining everything about Tokyo to the children. She was very engaging with them and she helped us learn a lot about Tokyo. Additionally, she gave us a lot of information and insight with Tokyo mass transit with made it very easy for us to get around the city on our own for the rest of our stay in Tokyo.
Hi Pulin, thank you so much for posting the great review. You are the third largest group I’ve ever guided. But I’m so impressed how all the six kids are sensible and kind to each other. By the way, what surprised me the most is that we met again in the busy Meiji Shrine the next day. It’s next to impossible to have such reunion in the middle on the city. I couldn’t help feeling our connections. I believe we could meet again someday. Please say hello to them all!
Mayumi did a great job showing us Tokyo. We had two days with her. Our group was a family of 2 adults, 3 teens, and 1 six year old. She developed a two day itinerary based on some of the ideas we gave her plus some of her own. She picked us up at the hotel each day and expertly led us around the subway system to visit all the sites with good stops for lunch etc. She has a very pleasant way of leading the group, offering just enough information, and adjusting to the needs of everyone in our group. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the great review, Brian. It sure was pleasant days thanks to your sweet kids. We saw various aspects of Tokyo from traditional old town to the Science Museum and so on. I hope you enjoyed the last facility after I left you. It must be treasured memories to travel around with the big family. I was really happy to be with you in part of the great journey. Thank you again for finding me and give this various opportunity to me!
Mayumi connected with us right from the start and we found our common interests. She is very enthusiastic, energetic and her english is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour.
Thank you so much for your great review. It was quite an interesting tour thanks to your knowledge about birds. I’ve known flowers that attract many tourists but didn’t know about birds that much. I’d not noticed just how rich in nature even in the center of Tokyo is. I rediscovered another beautiful aspect of our city. I’d like to share those things with my future guests. I’ll keep on searching for birds in the city. Thank you for giving me the new pleasure! I’m looking forward to the next exploration with you.
She was really enthusiastic and took us to many great eating local places for the food tour. Highly recommended.
Thank you for posting the great review. I rediscovered more delicious street food than ever throughout Tokyo while I was doing my homework for this tour. I do appreciate your giving me such an opportunity. I’m a street food master now! I’m looking forward to the next chance. Thank you again.
Mayumi was our guide for the day for ad lib Tokyo with our two girls (21 and 18 yo). If you have never been to Tokyo (like us) I highly recommend this; the tour is what you want to do and we truly get a feel for this great city. From major city sites (Shibuya crossing, Tsukiji Fish Market, Harajuku district) to our own mini food tour (fluffy pancakes, sake, sushi ) to karaoke it was a great day. We were fortunate to have Mayumi.
I’m so happy to hear that. Nothing better than hearing that I could help you appreciate various attractions of Tokyo and make your precious day a great day. Thank you for sharing the exciting day with me. I’ll never forget the karaoke and the great singers. I loved “Price Tag” you and girls sang. That’s the best one I’ve ever heard! You are a great singer, Kenneth. Keep singing and keep on smiling!
Mayumi is extremely knowledgeable about Tokyo and Japanese culture. She was very responsive to our interests and very flexible in her approach. She speaks excellent english and was a pleasure to communicate with. We highly recommend her.
Ken-san, Thank you so much for your great review. I really enjoyed myself talking with you and your wife. I learned a lot from you. We experienced as much as possible in the four days from calm temples in Kamakura to the festival full of vigor in Tokyo. Thank you again for sharing such a wonderful time with me. You must visit beautiful rural areas where you can find authentic beauty of Japan when you come back to Japan. It’s my pleasure to guide you such places. Please say hello to your wife. I hope our paths will cross again!
Mayumi was a wonderful and cheerful guide. She made our first day in Japan absolutely great. She took us to some of the main sights in Tokyo and listened to our request to also view some more of the everyday Japanese life. She was very efficient, showed us how to get around in Tokyo and she gave us practical advice (i.e. get a Pasmo). I would recommend that every first timer in Japan a guide on the first day, and preferably Mayumi ;-)
Hi JJ, Thank you for your great review! I’m sure you’ve fully enjoyed the rest of your stay in Japan. You two are quick learners and soon became like experts of Japan. Our tour was not a long one but we had a great time to visit as many places as possible. Thank you for walking a lot in spite of your jet lag. If you have another opportunity to came to Japan, I do want to show you quite different landscape from this time. Hoping to see you again someday!!
Mayumi was the ideal city guide. She picked us up at our hotel (two days in a row, each a half-day), taught us how to navigate the public transportation system, and efficiently (and enthusiastically!) took us around to see Tokyo's highlights. With minimal input from us, Mayumi devised a "best of" itinerary that included both the modern and traditional sides of Tokyo. The pace of the tour was perfect -- fast enough to squeeze in a handful of neighborhoods on each day, but casual enough to feel comfortable stopping for photos and to explore food stalls, markets, etc. Mayumi's English is outstanding and she is well versed in Japanese history. Mayumi was knowledgeable about food, history, architecture, etc., so my sense is that she would be an ideal option regardless of the particular ag... read more
Roxane, what a kind and encouraging review this is! Thank you so much. I can’t believe those things happened only in two days because we had only four hours each day. You two looked so excited about everything I showed you that I got to want to show you more. I can imagine you were traveling around just like an expert of Japan after I left you as you learned everything so quickly. There are still countless hidden places in Japan. I’m a nature enthusiast and really into adventure. If you’d like to get some information on something special to visit, please feel free to ask me anything even if you don’t need to hire me. I’m willing to share anything I know with you. Please keep in touch! Mayumi
Mayumi was knowledgeable, prompt, thoughtful and patient. A pleasure to be with. Her English was very good and she was able to answer all our questions.
Dear Louise, thank you for posting the good review despite your tight schedule. I hope you are enjoying visiting other places too. If you have any questions or something I can help you during your stay in Japan, please feel free to ask me anything. Please give my best regards to your husband, Thank you.
Our group of 4 had a great time with Mayumi as our tour guide. She spoke english efficiently and is very open/flexible because since it was our first time in Tokyo we were clueless about destinations we wanted to visit. We finally came up with a game plan and Mayumi executed it perfectly! She met us at our hotel and waited patiently for us to come down since we came late (sorry Mayumi! We appreciate your patience with us). She is very knowledgeable and educated us about historical facts/culture of each place we visited. It made the destinations more memorable. There were times where we took more time at one destination then schedule, but Mayumi didn't rush us and was quick on her feet to make sure we would complete the tour as planned, which we did! I would definitely look up Mayum... read more
Thank you for posting such a great review. You don’t have to say sorry at all, Remmy. You were always concerned about everyone and kept contacting me. I really appreciate your kindness. As I told you at the beginning of our tour, I’ve never included such many places in one day. I didn’t want to make you exhausted but at the same time, I’d like to take you to every spot you mentioned. Our tour was something like an adventure😊 I’m really happy you enjoyed the adventure. We had the Golden Week soon after you got back to the US. There were so many people wherever we went. You chose a good timing. I’m always ready for next adventure with you. Please say hello to everybody! Again, thank you for everything!!
Mayumi was more like a friend showing us around town. She arrived to pick us up at our hotel promptly, kept on schedule and spoke beautiful english. My daughter and I had so much fun with her and saw so much more than we could have on our own. She kept everything fresh, which is not easy when you’ve done basically the same tour many times. I couldn’t recommend Mayumi more! If you only have one splurge on your trip to Tokyo, this should be it.
Hi Ronnie, thank you for your great review. I can’t forget the beautiful day. You discovered many beautiful things while walking through the refreshing garden. You made me rediscover the beauty of the combination of the blue sky, fresh green leaves and orange or red colored maples. I really enjoyed talking with you at the tempura restaurant too. Your smile made me so happy. I miss you and your daughter. I can imagine she is busy again reporting interesting and delicious things around the world. I’d be happy if she’d remember the day with me in Tokyo. Thank you for everything!
We had a wonderful day touring Tokyo with Mayumi. I would award her six stars. We arrived a day prior to the start of our prearranged Abercrombie & Kent “Classic Japan “ tour. In an exchange of several emails, we worked out an itinerary for our day together that wouldn’t duplicate anything in our A & K tour. Mayumi was extremely helpful in working out an excellent plan with contingencies in case of inclement weather. From the moment my wife, our two friends, and I met Mayumi in the lobby of the Tokyo Ritz Carlton, we sensed that we found a friend. Indeed we did! Riding the subway, sightseeing, having tea in a tea house in a Japanese garden and having lunch together in a noodle shop; we felt we were with a friend and not a tour guide. We learned so much from Mayumi about Japanese history, c... read more
Thank you so much for posting your excellent review, Dr. Epstein. It’s honorable for me to hear that you felt I was your friend. We exactly had a great day together and I was really impressed how you’ve deeply learned Japanese history. You often helped me explain detail things about history to the ladies. I really appreciate it. At the same time, I learned a lot from you. You know a lot of things that I’ve never known. I wish I could have been with you longer and talked with you about various topics. Your kind words encourage me greatly. I’ll keep learning in order to entertain people who share their precious time with me. Dr, please come back to Japan to see your friend! Thank you again and give my best regards to your wife and friends.
Mayumi is the best guide I have ever had. She has a wealth of knowledge about Japan which she communicates effectively. She has such a pleasant personality that it is a joy to be with her. She speaks perfect English. She took us to wonderful places that we would not have seen. She is an incredible guide and we will definitely use her again! Stephanie Ricardo
Thank you so much for posting your review in the middle of your tour to the Golden Route, Stephanie. I really enjoyed talking with you and Kathleen during the tour, leisurely walking around city. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful tempura with udon at the small but very popular eatery without waiting in a line. I was happy to see you really enjoyed it. How was the hot spring in Hakone? You must have enjoyed the beautiful view of the nature in Takayama too. Please tell me about your adventure when we meet again. I’m always ready to help you. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask me anything. Thank you for everything. Please stay in good shape until we meet again.
This review is for my 2 previous tours with Mayumi. I hate to give a bad review, but here it goes. Last year, my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Tokyo. We booked a one day Tokyo tour with Mayumi. She helped us take a few photos with her phone, and promised to email us after the tour. However, until now, we never received them. With that said, we still enjoyed our time with her. Two weeks ago, we visited Tokyo again. This time, we went with our family of 4. We decided to overlook the photos issue, and booked another 8 hour tour with Mayumi again. My aunt even booked her for another 4 hours the next day. We put in very good words, and recommended Mayumi to our family. Sadly, this time around was a total disappointment. My husband and I felt really bad for giving Mayumi ... read more
I’m so sorry for any inconvenience. I didn’t notice that my pictures had not been delivered to you at all. I thought I had sent them. I still keep the photos I took during the tour last year. I’ll try sending them to you again. If you can’t get them, please let me know. And I never intended to rush them. I tried to take a picture of them from a little far ahead. I should have explained my idea in advance. I’m so sorry. I was really happy when you remembered me and came back to me. My heart is aching as I feel how you were disappointed. I’ll keep your words in mind and try to improve my tour. Thank you for letting me know your feelings.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our tour was, how great Ms.Mayumi is from the beginning of our tailored tour, she has helped us maximize our time, and she always have a beautiful smile the whole day, she makes sure that we are enjoying and experiencing everything that we wanted. It was an incredible tour in every way, planned and executed perfectly by Ms. Mayumi, Japan is a very beautiful country and people are very warm and polite, they will really help you the best way they can when you asked for one. A country that’s home to hospitable people and delicious food. Above and beyond it exceeded my expectation in so many ways, tour is exciting, food was perfect, they serve the most delicious seafoods. We enjoyed the 3 day tailored tour with Ms.Mayumi, she is so fun to be with and ver... read more
Dear Mis. Apple. I’m so happy to hear from you and really appreciate your generosity. Yes! We had great days together even though the cherry blossom has already been over. Thanks to you, I had a great opportunity to see many beautiful flowers like peonies and wisteria instead of cherry blossoms. The Shibasakura we went to see is now in full bloom and the festival site is very crowded. We went there too early but you were lucky enough to take pictures of the beautiful Mt Fuji. I’m enjoying making Shinigang now. When we meet again, I’d like to teach you how to cook some Japanese dishes. We had three fun days together but still I don’t feel it’s enough. I have more ideas and photogenic spots to show you around Japan. I’m always ready to help you. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. Sa... read more
Thank you Mayimi for an action packed half day tour of Tokyo in the rain. We loved the tour and we love Tokyo. Mayimi was perfect and understood well the needs of a family with young children. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour. Thanks again. Jessica, Mitchell, Roman and Scarlett.
Thank you, Jessica for your amazingly quick review. I’m so happy that you loved my short tour and Tokyo. I love you all too. I wish I could have been with you longer. I also enjoyed myself thanks to the kids’ pleasant power despite the rain. I guess you are having great days now as it’s been so beautiful theses days. I hope you’ll enjoy every single moment and get unforgettable memories in Japan. Please tell my love to Scarlett, Roman, and Mitchell. See you.
We had a lovely time with Mayumi. she was full of energy and really showed us the excitement of Tokyo. Would definitely use Mayumi again and recommend.
Thank you, Nabeel. It was a valuable experience for me to guide a big group of Muslim tourists. Thanks to your sharing detailed information on their preference, I could entertain them well. I’m always ready to help you command a tour to Japan. See you again soon,
I booked a Tokyo tour thinking it would be a good idea for the first day to get an overview of the city and become comfortable with the trains. Now I would change that description to “essential”. Having a guide the first day was like making a friend right away in a new city. Mayumi was warm, energetic, and her English is impeccable! Her knowledge of Japanese history, botany, pop culture and transportation is bar none. She was very kind and conplementary to me and my 12-year old son. He said he wished we could hang out with her again!! Also note: I booked mayumi based on her stellar reviews, but also partly based on one criticism she got, which was walking too fast! I knew we would have to walk fast to pack in as much as we wanted to. Do yourself a favor: do not hesitate, book Mayumi for ... read more
Arigato!!!!!! Michelle. I really miss you!!! Your comment made me feel like crying for gratitude. Your warm smile encouraged me to show you as many places as possible in our limited time. I was really happy that George enjoyed every single minute with me. I’ve been super busy these days and visit the garden we went together almost every day. I never go there without remembering you and George. Thank you for everything during the tour. I guess you’ve already got back to your place and returned to your daily life. I always wish you well. I do want to see you again and help you with another adventure in Japan. Please say hello to George. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. See you!
Mayume is a very friendly, cosy, knowlegeble guide which changed our itinerary many times following our requests. I would not tecommend anyone to take a bout trip if you have only 3 days in Tokyo, its consuming a lot of time which you could spend discoveing many interesting areas.
Thank you, Marina. Your compliments make me feel so good. I really appreciate it. I really enjoyed being with you and your pleasant friends. It’s my pleasure to accommodate to your requests because I’m your private guide. I’m always ready to help you enjoy your travel. I’ll be waiting for you to visit Japan again. Please stay in good shape until then. Say hello to your friends. Thank you again.
Mayumi san was awesome! She is very friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be with. We had a big day going to both sides of Tokyo, east and west, but we accomplished it in 8 hours because of her efficiency. In these 8 hours we learnt a lot about the history, religion and culture of Japan. She recommended other places for us to visit in our time and went out of her way to help my children buy some manga books. She also helped us get back to our hotel when she found us lost and disoriented with directions near Sunshine City. I highly recommend her as a guide.
Suzi san, Thank you for your kind words. I’m so happy to hear that. I guess you are having great days in Japan. Is Michael enjoying reading the comic books he got at Animate? I’m impressed by how well Marina reads Japanese and is trying to read manga in Japanese. I’m sure she’ll be able to speak Japanese fluently soos as I know many people who learned Japanese by watching anime and reading manga. By the way, “My Hero Academia” will start broadcasting on TV tomorrow. I’d like you to tell it to Michael so that he might be able to watch it in the hotel. I do want to have another opportunity to help you learn more about Japan including exotic places outside Tokyo. I’ll be waiting for you to come back to me. Say hello to Michat, please. Thank you again.
Mayumi met my family and I at Narita Airport. It was our first time to Japan (we live in the USA) and I know that my kids would be tired so I did not want to get lost with figuring out the train system during our arrival to Tokyo. I wanted to make sure that a guide would pick us up at the airport and take us to drop off our luggage at a storage place. Mayumi was really great, she met us at the airport and she helped me get our train tickets and then also found a storage place in Shibuya because we arrive early and are check-in wasn’t until later. We thought Mayumi was really nice and friendly. We’re so glad that she showed us around. We felt more confident the next day with Tokyo’s train system because Mayumi showed me the Suica and Pasmo cards and she also provided us a map of Tokyo. We ... read more
Thank you so much for posting such a great review, Jeanelyn. Although our tour was not a long one, I got to feel all of you close to me. As soon as I got your request that you’d like to move around until the check-in without the luggage, I went to Shibuya and Shinjuku to check some places that would be convenient for you to drop it off. I was happy to save your time and visit as many places as possible in our limited time. All my preparation is done for your big smile. I hope we’ll meet again and try another adventure together. Please give my best regards to your family. Thank you again.
We hired Mayumi to spend two days showing us Tokyo. We hired 7 different guides from Triple Light to take us all over Japan and all were great but Mayumi really stood out as exceptional. She is incredibly pleasant and fun to be around . My 7 year old really took a liking to her and they we buddies for the trip. Mayumi helped plan our days ...which were jam packed...and adjusted to incorporate activities our 7 and 8 year old children would like. She made us reservations at the hedgehog cafe, took us across the city to see the large Gundam robot, took us to the Samurai museum and made origami samurai helmets with the kids while we waited for the tour to start. She helped me find a Vermeer painting in an art museum I wanted to see and took us to see the most beautiful cherry blossom and shr... read more
Thank you so much for writing such an honorable review, Vicki. I really appreciate your sharing the great memories with me. Thanks to your good fortune, we could enjoy the unusually early cherry blossoms in Tokyo. Now the flowers we enjoyed are completely over. But we can still enjoy other kinds of flowers and fresh green leaves that make us feel the approach of early summer. By the way, your words really make me happy. There’s nothing better than knowing that you had a great time with me. We did as much as possible in two days and I thank kids and Frank for walking a lot without any complaint. That was amazing. I hope Cooper’s leg has completely got well and my Harajuku Angel is fine as well. Hugs and kisses to your lovely family. Best regards.
Mayumi san is an awesome tour guide. She is very welcoming and fun to be with. We are a group of four, my parents, my teenage boy and I. Three generations, and Mayumi san was able to accommodate to all of us. She's very patient and find walking routes that would be easy for my parents (mum has walking cane for support). We also had a bit of rain on that day but with Mayumi san’s outgoing personality made the day really fun.
Thank you for posting such a great review in the middle of your travel, Jamie san. I really appreciate it. How are Enzo and your parents? I’m sure all of you’ve enjoyed other cities as well after Tokyo. I was happy to be with you on March 16. When I’m looking at the pictures of our trip, I can’t believe it was cloudy and a slight rainy day as I only remember we were so excited all day long. I do like to add more happy pictures in my album. Please come back to me again, and I’ll show you other charming spots in and outside Tokyo. Keep in touch until then. See you.
Mayumi was amazing! We had a group of 8 American travelers, she taught us how to use the trains and metro. By day 2 we were experts! She took us to Tokyo Station to purchase JR Passes for our trips to Izu and Kyoto and back to Narita Airport. Thank goodness she was there, no one at the office seemed to speak English. We continued to an amazing sight seeing tour of all the most popular sites in Tokyo and went shopping in some great market places. We got our fortunes told, learned how to enter shrines properly, Japanese history and more. She also took us directly to the Robot Cabaret. The next day she provided us with a custom tour of Akihabara. We split the travelers from anime lovers to non-anime. The non-anime group went to a 9-floor electronic store and the rest of us went o... read more
Thank you for your praise for my job, Brandy. I really appreciate it. But I owe our successful two-day tour to you. You’ve considered every guy’s preference and told me about that frequently so that I could arrange everything perfectly in order to entertain you all. I was really happy when we finally found your favorite character of Sailor Moon, Usameito with outfits of SAKURA for Isabella, items of Fairy Tail for her husband. And, I’m really impressed how well your husband, Stephen knows about Japanese history and culture. I learned something new from him. I think he should come back to Japan with you to make his knowledge deeper. Of course, It's my pleasure to help you again. Now that you are experts of Japan, you’ll be able to enjoy onsen, hot spring and Kyoto on your own. I’m alw... read more
