Hello, I am Seiko, National Licensed Guide since 2007. I was born and grew up in Kurashiki (Okayama pref.) until high school, spent my college days in Kyoto, and currently living in Osaka.
I studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Wisconsin, as well.
I myself am a traveler for life, been to more than 30 countries and all the prefectures in Japan and always excited to help travel planning for my friends/clients coming to Japan. I am also a hiker, kayaker, scuba diver, and snowboarder enjoying myself mostly outdoors in every season.
I would especially love to show you things that are rarely found in your guidebook or difficult to do as tourists from other countries as well as the beauty of the nature and rural areas in Japan.
Besides city tours in Osaka and Kyoto, my tours can stretch to introducing local foods, bar-hopping, sake/beer breweries, visiting secret local spots, excursions to enjoy the nature such as walking/hiking tours, onsen day-out, and more!
Let's have a fun time and unique experience with me!
*Please check my original tours in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Kobe/Himeji. These tour rates are more reasonable than booking a custom tour with me!

My girlfriend and I did a 6 hour tour with Seiko in Kyoto. It was, without exaggeration, the best decision we made by far. She is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, and her English is near native speaker level. But what really impressed us was her ability to connect with us and the positive energy she brought to the time we spent together. By the second hour, it felt more like a good friend was showing us around her home town than a paid guide doing her job. We talked about all kinds of things, beyond just the factoids expected from a tour. I think we had the most fun chatting about her experiences living in the US, and the cultural idiosyncrasies of Japanese people. And when we said goodbye, we felt sad that she couldn’t come with us to Tokyo. After she got to know us, she also gave us restaurant recommendations for Osaka that she thought we would enjoy, and she was on point! I would highly, highly recommend anyone visiting either Osaka or Kyoto to hire Seiko for a day. You THINK you can just follow recommendations on TripAdvisor and follow google map here and there, but trust me - having a great guide like Seiko makes your experience 10 times more amazing and efficient. You will not regret it!
Seiko is a wonderful guide and person. Planning the tour was effortless. This is our third trip to Kyoto, but we are traveling with my brother in law and his wife, and it is their first time, so we visited some places we've been before. Seiko was able to provide information and insights that made it all seem new again. Even getting from place to place was better, easier with Seiko. She took us down smaller streets, and pointed out the details we would have missed without her. We requested a specific type of lunch so she took us to a small restaurant that specializes in exactly what we wanted, we never could have found that perfect of restaurant without her. In fact if we did find it we could not have ordered without her. She learned what each of us likes and made an effort to make sure we all had the best experience possible. I only wish would have planned ahead so she was going to be with us today. We hope she can be a part of all of our future trips. Lee and Wanda
Seiko took care of us for 2 days(Kyoto & Kobe tour) and she made sure everything was well-planned. She was willing to answer to every question my children asked her and was kind, cheery, and helpful in every way. Couldn’t ask for more... Thank you so much for everything Seiko!
Seiko led us through Osaka on our last day in Japan, taking us through areas of the city we would never have discovered on our own. She was a wealth of knowledge (I wish we'd booked Seiko for our first day - our entire Japan experience would have been more detailed and nuanced), friendly and funny. She was happy to alter the tour on the move as our small group made snap decisions about what we wanted to see. She took us to an awesome hole-in-the-wall for lunch (the kind of place that looked too 'different' from the outside for us to have been brave enough to check out by ourselves, but which was, of course, convivial, genuine and delicious.) She made sure we were confident with our transport arrangements for the final stage of our holiday... Seiko went well above and beyond what I expected when I booked the tour. I whole-heartedly recommend her and her Osaka Grand Tour to any visitor to Japan. (We were a group of four, aged 70 x 2, 45 and 11.)
Seiko was charming and chatty, our time went too quickly. We gained deeper insights into Japanese culture, religion and daily life exploring Kyoto's famed sites with Seiko. She made these sites richer and more meaningful by her local knowledge, commentary and by asking the numerous questions we had about life in Kyoto and behind the scenes, living in Japan.
