Hello! I am Seiko, National Licensed Guide since 2007.
I was born and grew up in Kurashiki (Okayama pref.) until high school, spent my college days in Kyoto, and currently living in Osaka.
I also have a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Wisconsin and worked as a translator/interpreter, market researcher, and executive assistant for global companies for many years where I enjoyed spending a precious time with people from different backgrounds and cultures and broaden my world and horizons.
I myself am a traveler for life, been to more than 30 countries and all the prefectures in Japan, and always excited to help my clients with their planning. I am also a hiker, kayaker, scuba diver, and snowboarder enjoying myself mostly outdoors in every season.
Besides city tours in Osaka and Kyoto, my tours can stretch to introducing local foods, bar-hopping, sake/beer breweries, visiting less-touristy local spots, excursions to enjoy the nature such as walking/hiking tours, onsen day-out, and more!
Let's have a fun time and unique experience with me!
*Please check my original tours in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Kobe/Himeji. These tour rates are more reasonable than booking a custom tour with me!

Seiko was the highlight of our Japan holiday. We were 4 Australians in our late 40s cruising around Japan and had never used a private guide before. We decided to give in a go as an alternative to a cruise booked tour. So pleased we did. She met us at the cruise terminal and help us change our JR Voucher into tickets. We then spent 8 hours touring Osaka & Kobe. Including the Castle, Shinsekai, Nipponbashi (subculture street) and Kuromon Ichiba Market. We walked, used subway and trains. She took us into restaurants we would never of entered on our own, introduced us to street food, she explained the culture and history in easy simple language that explained so much from our previous days in Tokyo and set us up for the rest of our time in Japan. Seiko even helped us plan our next day to ... read more
Thank you, Jacinta! Yes, we walked a lot and I really like to do that because you can see more of our real life and scenes as you walk. You were all so fit and interested in checking things out that I wished we'd had more time to show you more! I'd be so happy if my tour helped you all experience and understand our country and culture a bit more. It was also easy and fun for me to spend a day with you as chatting about lots of things. I hope you also had a great time in Hiroshima. Thanks again to all of you!!! Seiko
I was going to visit Kyoto for the first time with my family and my sister's family. We had a party of 8 persons. I contacted Seiko a week before my arrival and requested for a day tour of Kyoto and also some specific spots which I wanted to visit. Seiko responded quickly with an itinerary. She made some good suggestions which I didn't think of. During the tour, Seiko gave us many good snippets of information about the history and significance of the places we visited. We were particularly happy to visit the Fushimi Sake District to experience the sake culture and taste the local sake. We would not be able to see so many places in a day without her capable guidance. I would strongly recommend her services to those who intend to tour the Kyoto area.
What a wonderful day with you too!!!! Thanks to you taking my advice and all of you being so patient with lots of walking, it was full of special things packed in one day. In the end it turned to be a long day visiting different places for 8 of you with different interests and ages, I was very grateful that nobody complained but took care of each other, so that the tour went so smoothly. I myself enjoyed the tour as much as (or maybe more than) you did. Lucky me! I was also happy to see you guys were enjoying sake & whisy Lol (& thanks for my sake too!) Thanks again and hope to see you again when you come back (PLEASE!) Seiko
We contacted Seiko the day before our tour, with our request of guiding our family of six through multiple destinations in Kyoto. She responded quickly and was quite flexible with our all of our different requests. Most importantly, she added an element of practicality in terms of which destinations would combine most conveniently so that we could enjoy them to their fullest. We visited the Kinkaku-hi golden temple and Kitano Tenmangu shrine to see the amazing Fall colors. The highlight was our Riverboat tour down the Hozu- Gawa river where the charismatic guides used a single paddle and a bamboo pole to guide us down 10 miles of river while pointing out rocks which looked like Snoopy, a seal and a lion, as well as historical sites , all the while providing an fun element of comedy. Thank you for choosing me and your kind comments on the review, Nancy. I also very much appreciated that you took all my advice of alternatives/recommendations for fall colors and am so glad to hear you all liked the places we visited! Kitano Tenmangu is particularly a special place for me as I spent my college days living behind the temple, so is Hozugawa kudari where I did many training runs for rafting races (so I always knew how beautiful and fun the river boat ride is in every season:). You were also lucky in terms of timing for fall colors and we could spot a real Geiko-san by the beautiful bridge. It was definitely my lucky and special day as well especially with a wonderful family of yours! Thank you and your family again and hope you had a great time in other cities (and onsen... read more
Seiko meaning Holy Child. She’s cheerful, active, resourceful and very knowledgeable of Japan’s hidden gems. If you’re looking for the best experience in Japan then look no further than with Seiko. Seiko will help you find the beautiful unknown parts of Japan! If you want a tour that doesn’t have a lot of other tourists around then Seiko is the right tour guide for you. We had given her a list of activities that we wanted to do prior to our visit but she also made her own suggestions which we agreed on, her suggestions became the highlights of our trip. The next time we visit I think we’ll just let her decide because we really loved the places she took us to. We would not have known about those spots and restaurants if not for her. Two of my friends had already asked me for her conta... read more
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and rewarding review, JV. I was very moved by reading your kind comments and appreciate your time in writing this up despite your busy schedule. As we carefully planned an itinerary for your family of three generations together, I was ready for a bit challenging experience for me, but it turned out to be great experience and easy-going tour, and I had a wonderful time with you. Thanks for connecting me with your family (very interesting!), and I was so happy to see you liked the places I picked! Hope to see you again in the Philippines or Japan, someday soon! Seiko P.S. We actually made it to the restaurant I originally booked, as they said it was okay to be a bit late.... Glad you liked it too^^
Seiko was a last minute replacement guide but was superb - very knowledgable, caring and spoke fluent English We had a wonderful day in Kyoto with her and enjoyed the sights of the Old Capitol + the market & Geisha area. We would not have seen as much without her - thank you Seiko
Thank you Bernie & Rosemary! It was a nice surprise to have a chance to guide you in Kyoto. I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful day, and certainly the long train ride was worthwhile! Pizza lunch was another surprise but shifted us into high gear thanks to a glass of wine! Thanks again and hope you continue a memorable journey. Seiko
