Chika was a delight. She was punctual efficient and prepared with visual aids. She was able to alter our schedule as needed to accommodate our needs (we had to stop to buy some comfortable walking shoes). She provided us with a vocabulary sheet for rudimentary Japanese expressions.
Hi, Patrick Thank you so much for sending me warm comments. I’m so delighted to hear that. I hope you have a pleasant journey! On the rabbit island I mentioned, Tadanoumi is the name of the port. The rabbit island is “ Okuno-jima” or “Okuno Island” in Hiroshima. You should prepare rabbit feed on your own and take a ferry from Tadanoumi to the island. ( It’s better to arrive earlier, it’s crowded ) Bring your own lunch and enjoy them near the sea would be fun! If possible, You can rent bikes at only one hotel at the island. https://www.tokyocreative.com/articles/19245-bunnies-bikes-and-beaches-why-you-should-consider-okunoshima-for-your-next-island-getaway Speaking of cat island, I recommend “ “Aoshima”, but it’s too far from Kyoto. Anyway, if you’re willing to tr... read more
Thank you Chika for a wonderful tour. We saw so much of Osaka and Kyoto at a perfect pace for my six year old daughter, despite the heat.
Hi, Sasha! Thank you for your warm comment. You two tried to survive the heat, always looked so happy, which impressed me.. In addition, Grace is adorable and you’re a good mum. Hope to see you some day in Japan!
My family and I visited Kyoto in July and had a wonderful day with Chikako. I asked her to give us both an "orientation" to Kyoto Tour but also to include a few special stops along the way considering we had our 4 year old daughter Kirana along. Chikako was intelligent, casual, organized, fun, and thoughtful. She showed us the highlights of this fascinating and beautiful City (Temples, Gion, Zen Gardents, etc) while also sampling some great food from the market and an amazing tea tasting experience. Just the right combination of organization and spontaneity. My kids loved her sweet style and I appreciated her knowledge. In addition to being a Tour guide she is also a Middle School Teacher and it showed! My only regret was not booking her for the whole week! Matthew from Bali
I really appreciate your warm comments! I was so impressed by your great review.. My husband and I ( also my friend ) will definitely go to Bali in the near future and maybe we’ll share a great time! Please keep in touch and come back to Japan in November. See you around Chika
This was my family's first experience with a private tour guide and Chika made our so much fun! In addition to being very thoughtful about our agenda, she made sure to send us a photo of the the location in the train station where she was meeting us. It's little details like that that she continued all day to ensure we got the most our of our trip. She knew the area very well and took us everywhere we wanted to see, and we managed to have a nice sit-down lunch with air conditioning. We had a couple of specific requests for shopping and not only did she take us where we wanted to go, she helped us navigate and wrote on maps exactly what we wanted to do once the tour was over. She made our day so lovely and our experience in Kyoto one we'll never forget.
Dear Ambre I was so touched that you kindly gave me wonderful comments and you and your family were happy during the tour. Your family always made me fun and it motivated me! Thank you for everything and it’ll be unforgettable memory for me. Love Chika
We booked Chika for an evening walking tour in the Gion. She was very knowledgeable and prepared. She was also patient as my 9-year old son who gets bored easily. Chika made reservations for us at a restaurant that met my request - not too expensive with both sushi and other options for kids. We were staying at a private rental home that is difficult to locate so when Chika dropped us off, she drew a map for the restaurant staff and they helped us to get a taxi that would know how to get back. We had already booked another guide for the following day or we would have asked for the following day as well.
Hi, Melissa Good morning. Thank you for writing me a warm comment! It will motivate me for the next tour. I’m glad to hear that you are satisfied with the tour. Today you’re going to the monkey park and Fushimi Inari shrine, I hope your lovely kinds will like them. Have a nice day Chika
We met her one day during our trip to Kyoto. Because we were only staying one day there we chose to have a guide to experience as much from Kyoto as possible. Chikako really succeeded with both showing us different sides of the city and making us feel welcome. She was very nice and talked to everyone making both me and my brother feeling included. We were also able to say what we were interested in and she made a schedule based on that. During the day we experienced both temples, shrines, tea ceremony and good food. She was very knowledgeable which enriched the visits because of a deeper understanding that we would not have been able to get on our own. We witnessed for example a special ceremony at the big temple and were told about local traditions. To summarize it was an amazing exp... read more
Dear Lovisa and your family, I was so delighted to hear that you four had a great satisfaction of my tour! You always keep smiling and are cheerful during my tour, and your wonderful comments has warmed my hearts. I hope you can be a great scientist and your brother should be a good cook. Of course your dad and mom would stay healthy and cool! Thank you again and I was hoping you would visit Japan again in the near future. Best wishes, Chika
The comment below was sent to me from my clients, Mr. and Mrs. Jones, from the U.S. Oh, yes! Chikako Nambu is a jewel. Her teaching skills shined at the beginning of each day as she presented us with a map marked with the route and stops for the day, a touch that we really appreciated. My wife and I almost instantly felt as if we were exploring with a good friend who was constantly there to guide us, answer our numerous questions, help connect us with local people in meaningful ways, lead us to delicious dining experiences, provide expert background in historical sites, and excellent insight into cultural elements. All done with a smile and wonderful attitude! Chicka is an excellent communicator with outstanding language skills. Her strong abilities in management of small tour... read more

My family and I had a fun half day touring Kyoto with Chika. She is kind, flexible and developed a tour just for us! She also gave us lots of tips for the time we were not with her for things to do and see in Kyoto!
Hi, Laura I’m so happy to meet such a nice family as you! You might have felt chilly because of a cold day, you are always kind to me. Hope all you be happy for good. Love, Chika
Our family had reserved 4 hours of bike guide with Chika. She reserved bikes for us and we were so excited about it. But we immediate found that I was in trouble of biking at the beginning. I did not ride bike so long time and she was very patient with me. She lead us in easy roads in the beginning of tour so that I could be familiar to riding in the local area. In the end of tour we were so happy that we chose this tour. It was a wonderful experience for us to learn and feel about signature places and culture in Kyoto because of her guide. We had spend 5 and half hours due to my biking skill but she even did not ask additional payment. When we come back to Kyoto in fall season, I want to get her guide again. Thank you, Chika.
Dear Vish,Eunhee and Kiwi Thank you for joining my bike tour and sharing our wounderful time with me! I'm so glad to hear that you three had a great time in Kytoto. Although riding bikes in narrow streets was a pretty tough, you three did a good job. I'm so impressed with your efforts! I hope you three can meet here in Kyoto in the near future. Of course let me show you a beautiful spots and off-the-beaten-track of Kyoto. Looking forward to seeing you! Very best, Chika
