My name is Toshi Nakahara.
I am certified tour guide for both English and Spanish.
I have lived in USA for 15 years in total starting from Iowa when I was in a high school as an AFS exchange student and later in Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and finally in New Jersey as a business man.
I learned Spanish at Osaka University for Foreign Studies for 4 years and lived in Mexico, Venezuela and Ecuador for more than 5 years in total, and travelled some other countries in Latin America and Spain.
I am a certified Wine sommelier and quite knowledgeable about Japanese Sake.
So in addition to the regular tour of metropolitan Tokyo area and its vicinity, I can take you to very authentic and popular restaurants where you can enjoy wonderful world of Japanese cuisine with some local drink. That is my strength, so to speak.
I can do one day or half day tour for weekends for Metropolitan Tokyo area, but also can cater to the needs of people who want to be guided to some deep, casual and reasonably priced "Izakaya" style drinking places during weekdays after 5:00PM if I am open. I can also guide, if schedule allows, Yokohama, Kamakura, Hakone, Mt. Fuji vecinity, Nikko and some popular places in western Japan like Kyoto, Nara and Osaka as I lived there for many years.
I enjoy talking about many topics such as Japanese culture and of your own country.
My motto is to make visiting friends from overseas experience memorable moments and make them feel at home and happy.

Toshi provided us with a wonderful evening outing in Tokyo. He picked us up at our hotel with a smile and it just got better. He selected a great izikaya restaurant for dinner. He taught us much about Japan cuisine, what drinks go best with each course and made the experience special. We shared excellent conversation about our lives and we gained a new understanding about Japanese culture. We toured more after dinner and stopped for a lovely dessert and tea. And then he dropped us off at our hotel. Wonderful.
Audrey Thank YOU for being a nice client for me! It was a wonderful experience for me too! Please come back again! Japan has a lot more to offer. If your son ever happens to visit here during his trip around the world, tel him to contact me!
Wao!
We set Toshi a difficult task by asking him to find restaurants for a family on Christmas Day rather than bar hopping. No problems, we were taken to a restaurant nice and close. Interesting conversation and incites into Japan. Great tips for seeing Shibuya scramble crossing and ramen restaurant the next day too - thank you
Excellent plan preparation in advance of tour, asking for our preferences and suggesting practical options as needed. Also touched base at our hotel the night before, in case we needed to update anything. Tour to various locations was almost all by the extensive Tokyo subway system, which Toshi explained to us with a detailed system map. This is very useful, as - except for station names - many of the details are only in Japanese. Toshi also helped us with arrangements with our Japan Rail pass reservations for Kyoto and Nara next week. Finally, in addition to his friendly and helpful personality, Toshi could explain everything in English and Spanish, as both my wife and I grew up speaking Spanish. At the same time, he helped explain subtleties of the Japanese culture and local cust... read more
Ervin and Mina Thank you for an excellent comment. I really appreciate it but more than that, I really enjoyed guiding you guys. It was FUN. Thank you for your comments on my English and Spanish also. I wish we can see you again soon. Que continuen buen viaje y disfruten Japon!
After agreeing on our personalized itinerary by email, Toshi met us at our hotel and showed us Tokyo in 6 hours!! We walked and took the subway to see everything we planned. Toshi speaks excellent English and answered all of our many questions. He took us to places we'd never have been able to find ourselves including a rooftop view of the Scramble, and delicious noodle soup. We only had one day in Tokyo and Toshi helped us make the most of it! Thank you, Toshi.
Joe Thank you for your nice comment. Please come back again, 6 hours was just too short to let you experience Tokyo. Obviously, Japan has much more to offer. I will be waiting for you to come back. And good luck for your endeavor for B+. I wish I were a rich enough person to support your Foundation. I really do!
