Yuki, a happy, smiley, friendly, easygoing and open-minded guide with a lot of traveling/living abroad experience is here! I'm not a walking guidebook kind of guide, but rather I'd love to show you Kyoto with new insights through true interactions. I'm definitely not the one if you are looking for a guide with complete knowledge, but if you are interested in a personal and fun experience with a guide who is international-minded and can tell you stories in an interesting way, I'm the one for you. I don't have the skills that guidebooks and databases have, but I have the skills that they don't have. :)
I was born and raised in Tokyo but moved to Kyoto to study for 4 years. Later I went to the Netherlands for a master's degree (in urban studies) for 2 years and then traveled for 20 months in Europe and Asia. Finally I came back to Kyoto in 2019 March. I have also lived in the US, Finland and Sweden.
I always travel whenever I find time, and in my lifetime (about 27 years so far) I've spent more than 3 years in total travelling around, visiting about 60 countries. I always use CouchSurfing so that I can meet locals. It's great to have the local knowledge and exchange thoughts and ideas, which I'd love to share with you as a guide.
I am open to any kind of tour, so all is up to you. You can give me all the wishes in the world and I'll try my best to tailor a fun tour for you! I'm especially interested in food, cycling, transportation, urbanism, society and culture, but I'm generally interested in everything.

We were able to see many sights and used all modes of transportation. Able to see much more that way. Yuki was very flexible and friendly.
Yuki was an excellent guide. With a sense of humour and relaxed and patient manner he was enjoyable company. He spoke excellent English and gave considered and intelligent explanations to our many questions. Yuki planned an itinerary that met our interests perfectly. We explored interesting areas of Kyoto not on the usual tourist trail. Yuki went out of his way to make it an excellent experience for us. Thank you Yuki!
Well organised helpful and thoughtful would do it all again
Yuki was a lovely guy we had a great day with him he took us to all the tourist spots plus some areas not known by the tourists which was great. As a group we just felt he did not know a great deal about the history of the attractions. Great meeting him good luck for the future Yuki.
We had a great two days with Yuki! He did everything on our itinerary and spoke good English. Yuki met us at the port in Kobe and Osaka (on a cruise ship) and guided us to Kyoto each day to explore. Thanks Yuki!
