Jack was a wonderful tour guide. We spent the day with him in Nikko. It was interesting, fun, and even delicious. He picked a wonderful spot for lunch on top of creating a beautifully-paced itinerary for the day. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive. I recommend very highly!
Hello Jessica, thank you for your nice comment. I really enjoyed the day with Patrick, Katherine and of course you, Jessica. Kind regards, Jack
My husband and I had the best day trip at Nikko, thanks to Jack's excellent recommendation of places to visit and his impeccable timing. When we first contacted him, we specified that we wanted to enjoy Nikko's nature, and not so much the shrines as we have been to many in Tokyo and Kyoto. He suggested a route which we agreed upon and off we went. We started our day-tour driving through Cedar Avenue which is lined on both sides with ancient cedars and is the longest tree-lined avenue in the world. If you like trees, you must visit this avenue. The ancient cedars are truly majestic! From there we proceeded up the beautiful Irohazaka slopes towards Lake Chuzenji. The Irohazaka slopes have 48 hairpin bends in total! (20 hairpin bends going up and 28 hairpin bends going down). It was drizzl... read more
Hi Nora, Thank you for your nice comment. I have been very busy this autumn season but it is almost end. Hope you had a good time all experience while you were here in Japan. I'd like to see your couple near future. Kind regards, Jack
My second day in Japon! Jack was very helpfull to make me understand a lot of things, about food, sake, religiion, local history, potters, etc It has been very efficient to make me visit Ceramique museums, shops, temple, historical houses of Hamada, in one day! Thanks to Jack
Thank you, Dominique. I had a good time with you yesterday. Enjoy Kasama and it's ceramics!
Jack’s knowledge of Japanese history and wonderful Nikko National Park is deep and interesting. He was eager to share his love of the subjects with our foursome on his Greedy Nikko Tour. While the weather was not the best – low visibility hid famous Kegon Falls from sight – we thoroughly enjoyed our drive with its hairpin turns, walks through woods, and views of other waterfalls, the hot springs, etc. Jack’s expertise shone at magnificent Toshu-gu Shrine. He guided us through the spacious site with its multiple buildings and crowds, pointed out and explained many features and details, and easily answered all our questions. His English is very good, and his manner attentive and kind. We would definitely hire Jack again.
Hi Linda, Thank you very much for your comments. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you. Looking forward to seeing you next time you are in Japan. Kind regards, Jack
Had a terrific day in Nikko with Jack. Lots to see and learn. Jack was communicative and informative and I enjoyed his company through the day. We met in Nikko since I was already in the area and spent the day walking and climbing all over the area from the World Heritage Sites to the Villa and beyond. It’s was great. Couple things I should note. First wear shoes that you can easily slip on and off because you will be talking them off multiple times at these sites. Second, if you are in any way mobility challenged, Nikko will be very difficult for you: the place is just not suited for wheelchairs, walkers, or even canes. And we walked 11 miles plus did over 50 floors of stairs (the stairs are uneven and with no railings, FYI). If you can get around, it is a terrific place to see an... read more
Hello Jim, Thank you for your comment and I really enjoyed the day with you. Unexpectedly my train delayed a little bit but you accept the situation nicely. How did you enjoy staying in Sendai? I hope you bring nice memories back to your hometown. Kind regards, Jack
From the very beginning till the end we had a wonderful time. Jack is very knowledgable and he is a great story teller. We love nature and Jack tailored our day towards lakes, waterfalls, mountains, but did not leave out important historical places. Itinerary is packed for one day and we had to be prompt in some places, but we managed to find enough time to have a great lunch in local restaurant - yummy! We were lucky with the weather, as it started to rain really heavy, while we were driving back to the station. It was a fantastic day and Jack is a rock-star! We loved it and highly recommend this tour. Kasia & Maciej
Hello Maciej and Kasia, Thank you for your compliments. It is certainly due to the weather but we really enjoyed a whole day. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip in Japan. Kind regards, Jack
Jack is a great guide!
An amazing day with an amazing guide. Jack thank you for everything
Hello Nektarios, Thank you for your nice comment. I really enjoyed the day with your family. Kind regards, Jack
Jack took us to some places in the countryside with stunning views. A great change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. He shared a lot of very interesting information about the history that shaped Japan and the people who held power through the ages.
We had the pleasure of spending a day with Jack during our visit to Nikko. He was an excellent guide who can give us a lot of explanation. What is more, we loved his personality. Everyone in the group liked him. Thanks Jack !
Hi there! I also enjoyed spending time with you ladies. Nikko is such a beautiful place to visit, as you know. Hope enjoyed the rest of your Japan trip. Do you remember the hotel guest relations staff who looked like coming from the middle east? He said no shop for spectacles in Nikko but the treatment where we visited the spectacle shop they are so kind. Thank you for your comment. Kind regards, Jack
Thanks to our guide, sir Jack, for a very informative and hassle-free walking tour. We didn’t know beforehand that it’s Japan’s Golden Week, that tourists flocked the site. Thanks for accepting our family. Man, he walks too fast for a 67 year old guy. We can’t keep up to his pace. Thanks for patiently waiting for us and keeping our children entertained. Twas a very long walk but it was worthwhile. He’s english-speaking skill was a plus too. Kudos to you sir!
Hi Nina, Thank you very much for your comment. I really enjoyed the whole day with your family. Hope you'll come back to Nikko staying there at least a night or two next time. Thank you again for a nice time.
Jack took us around the historic sites of Nikko. His command of English was excellent and he was most informative about the places we visited. Our day ran smoothly with Jack meeting us at Tobu-Nikko station and then travelling back with us to Utsunomiya where we took the Shinkansen to Tokyo. Thanks Jack for a lovely day.
I'm glad you enjoyed the tour in spite of exhausted day. I did the same course plus Kanmangafuchi abyss the other day. It was worse. We had to walk all day long. Long cue everywhere.
Jack was an excellent tour guide for our family including 2 teenagers during our 2 full days in Nikko. He planned everything perfectly such that we were able to see all of the major historical and natural attractions but yet we did not feel rushed. He was very knowledgeable and his English is excellent. I highly recommend hiring Jack.
Such a fun and interesting experience. Highly recommended!
My family and I enjoyed our day with Jack. He was waiting for us at the Tobu Nikko train station just as he said he would be. We toured the main shrines and more. Jack gave us some good history of the shogunate era and pointed out specific details about the shrines. He also took us to the abyss to see the charming statues adorned in red. We toured the imperial vacation home as well before driving up to beautiful Lake Chuzenji. Jack is a friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient guide.
Hello Becky, Thank you for your rating and also the picture you took at Kai. I cannot wait wearing the hat. Best regards, Jack
I had Jack as a guide in Nikko for the day. The day we went it was very deary and wet. Jack made the best of it . I found Jack to to be very inetersting and his knowledge of the are was impressive
Hello Bruce, Thank you for your comment. Hope you enjoyed the whole trip in Japan. We had snow a couple days ago in Utsunomiya. It was very cold the day before yesterday. Cherry blossoms last long though. Jack
Jack did a yeoman job with us on a full day trip to Nikko. Saw all the sights, learned so much about the culture and climbed hundreds of steps with Jack. Highly recommend that you choose Jack for your tour to the area.
Hello Robert, I thoroughly enjoyed the day with you yesterday. If you can give me our email address, I will send the photo taken near the bridge. Thank you very much for your comment. Kind regards, Jack
We spent half a day in Nikko and another in Edo wunderland. Jack gave us all important historical overviews. It was unforgettable experience.
Hi Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed yesterday. So did I. You're such an entertainer! Hope you enjoy rest of your trip! Jack
My family of five are bery satisfied and pleased with the professional guide service of Jack . He is knowledgeable, helpful and opened a further dimension into the tour especially with his expertise of the heritage sights in Nikko . We find him very cheerful and enthusiastic throughout the tour and would recommend him to others . Thanks a lo Jack ! Wee & Family
Hello Mr. Wee, Thank you for your comment. Hope you enjoyed Unagi restaurant in Nagoya. I had a good time with your family on the 14th of November. We had Sobazushi tempura at Takumian near Tamozawa Imperial villa and escargots for our appetizer at Meijinoyakata restaurant. Thank you so much giving me an opportunity to eat unusual cuisine. Kind regards, Jack
Jack speaks a very good English and thanks to him we discovered beautiful wonders of Nikko National park! Strongly suggested
Thank you, Andrea. I really enjoyed the day with you and Michele.
We had an amazing day with Jack. He customized the day to fit in everything we wanted to see and more. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and fun. We highly recommend touring with Jack!!
Hi Beverly, Thank you for your nice words. I thoroughly enjoyed accompanying with you. Jack
Jack was a wonderful ambassador to Nikko. He worked with us on customizing our day - ensuring we saw the both "hidden" and popular spots in a shortened time period, without ever feelng rushed. From being able to scoot down narrow lanes (definitely not where any tour bus could go!), to wonderful lunch spot recommendation, to his knowledge of sites, we can't imagine a better day or guide. Friendly, relaxed, over and above service and responsiveness (including mailing us a windbreaker we had accidentally left in his car#). Thank you!
Hi Amy, Thank you for your evaluation. Nice words are always welcome. Hope Alex's windbreaker reached without trouble. Actually I am going to Tokyo to see my friends who have been friends since elementary school age. I wish you will have a good weather in Kyoto. Enjoy your rest of your trip. Jack
A wonderful trip to magical Nikko. Jack was a friendly and well organized guide, all information and knowledge was offered easerly Also he showed us a hidden treasure ! Thank you for our wonderful day .
Thank you Anna. It was such a hectic day due to a holiday week. I hope you didn't get any pain in your legs the day after we walked a lot. If you don't mind, I would like to post your photo taken at the gate of Samurai house. Jack
Jack was an excellent guide. We were potters many years ago and were impressed by his knowledge of ceramics and of Hanmada’s life and his work. He took us skillfully through Mashiko during the large pottery fair. He guided us to some wonderful galleries were we purchased workdays to take back home.We had a fabulous day with him. He is highly recommend.
Hi Bob and Sally, Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I couldn't take you around as originally planned due to traffic situation. You missed a nice cafe but you have experienced the restaurant which you may never enter. But you had an oppotunity to talk with a young girl at the coffee shop. If you are ******* user, please see mine. I went Nikko yesterday and posted how busy Nikko was. Similar to Mashiko. Anyway thank you very much choosing me as a guide. Jack
The day was very well arranged and Jacks connections with Mashiko potters were a special treat. We also enjoyed the laughing Buddha. Many thanks.
Thank you for your lovely words. Please bring back a lot of nice memory with you. Have a nice flight back to New York.
It was a great experience with Jack taking my family around the remarkable World Heritage sites in Nikko. Jack is like an old English gentleman with impeccable English and gentlemanly style. He is good at telling stories and kept the kids interested by asking them thought provoking questions. It was a good tour overall and I highly recommend Jack
Hi Minnie, Thank you for your nice words. Did you have Utsunomiya Ghoza on the way to Haneda on Dec. 17? I miss authentic Malaysian and Sigapore cuisine here in Utsunomiya. I'd like to revisit Singapore someday. Probably next time I go to New Zealand, I will be in Singapore on my way to Auckland. Thank you again for spending time with me. Kind regards, Jack
Beautiful day in Nikko thanks to Jack, who is not only a very knowledgeable guide but also a nice and interesting person. Enjoyed the major spots but, by my own choice, skipped the top one due to long queues and unpleasant weather. nonetheless a nice memory of scrolls and great conversions. apart from the pure sightseeing: intercultural exchange at its best.
Hi Sonia, Thank you so much giving me a such nice words. I really enjoyed spending time with you on that day. Yes, it was not a nice weather and you haven't seen Toshogu Shrine. Even though you were satisified with what I offered. I appreciate your comment. By the way, when Ivanka visited Tokyo, PM Abe took her Hoshinoya's dinner. Hoshinoya is so famous now in Japan. Jack
If you are considering a day trip to Nikko, I can not recommend strongly enough hiring Jack to be your guide! We had such an enjoyable experience with him and are so glad we had him as our guide to experience Nikko. From start to finish, Jack made sure we saw everything we wanted to see, was patient while we took an incessant number of pictures, helped us pick the right trains to avoid having to stand en route, knew the inside tricks on the right buses and best order to view sights to avoid the masses of other tourists, and communicated excellently in English. Beyond the value at Nikko itself, the better understanding he provided us of Japanese history and culture in general has made our entire vacation in Japan better. Look no further - Jack is the best option for your guided tour... read more
Hello Mike, Thank you so much for your comment. How did you enjoy Kanazawa? Hope you will have a good weather and enjoyable sightseeing! Jack
We had an outstanding day with Jack from start to finish, and highly recommend him as an outstanding guide! He gave us travel instructions, met us at the train station upon our arrival, and tailored the day to meet our interests. He is terrific!
Thank you for your nice words, Mindy. I really enjoyed spending time with you and Matt. We have a lot of rainy days these days. It comes Big Typhoon within a couple days. Hope everything is OK with you! Jack
I was looking a few specific things that I couldn't find on triplelights so I posted the plan we were looking for. A few guides contacted me with alternatives but Jack was able to arrange exactly what we were looking for. Through the planning process and the tour, Jack was friendly, professional, resourceful, knowledgable and patient with our questions. We had a fantastic time with him and hope to have another chance to visit some places with Jack.
Hi Evan, Thank you for your nice words. I throughly enjoyed taking you to the workshop and Toshogu shrine. Hope to see you again next time you come to Japan. Jack
Jack brought my parents to Nikko. Even though they were not proficient in English and were apprehensive about taking a train from Tokyo to Nikko, Jack was patient and took pains to make sure they arrive and depart safely. The tour was pleasant.
Thank you for your evaluation. Hope your parents enjoyed the tour.
Jack made our 2 days' stay at Nikko a very pleasant experience. He was patient with my two noisy kids and flexible with our requests. The time at Edo wonderland was well spent with his guidance. We also enjoyed the waterfalls very much. He is a great local tour guide to recommend.
Hello Hellen, Thank you very much for your nice words. Your kids must be enjoyed spending time in Disneyland. Jack
Glad that we engage Jack-san (you have to ask him how do he get his english name, haha) for the walk, he knows very well on the habitats of the park and very knowledgeable, although is a raining day (drizzling) however is a really fun walk. My personal opinion, should visit here during autumn and spring, will be very colourful. cheers!
Hi Rdichard, It was a nice walk from Sainoko Iriguchi to Sainoko and Senjugahama. We heard another bad news yesterday. One old lady who went into the mountain to take bamboo shoots was killed by bear even she carried her two bear bells. Anyway we really enjoyed walking in the beautiful settings, didn't we? Thank you very much for your rating. I will send the photo by email soon. Best, Jack
We had a spare day in Tokyo and found your site and booked for the next day. We had a great day touring Nikko. Jack will go at your pace.. we wanted a relaxed day. His insights into Japanese culture are excellent. A memorable day. Thank you ever so much Jack. Matt Helga and Steve from Sydney.
Thank you Matt, Helga and Steve. I had a lovely day with you all. Nikko offers both nature and man made beauty. You told me you wanted a relaxed day so I didn't take a lot of places you must see in Nikko. There are a lot of nice places to see in Japan but Nikko is one of the best. Thank you for your business.
I cannot say enough good things about our tour with Jack to see Nikko. He met us and drove us up to Lake Chuzengi and to see 3 beautiful and different waterfalls. Then we had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and went on to see the Bakejizo, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Toshogu Shrine and Taiyuin Temple. His historical knowledge is excellent, as is his English. We had a great day and I would recommend his tour to everyone.
Hi Alex, It has been passed neary 4 weeks since we met. I have been busy in April but I love to meet nice people such as your family. I am glad to hear you enjoyed my tour. Thank you. Jack
Jack was fantastic! Our trip encountered a few weather challenges with some unexpected snow to start the tour. Jack didn't miss a step but made some quick adjustments on the fly! We still got to see everything we expected just with a few tweaks. Jack was very informative and presented the information and history in a way that engaged our kids 13 & 10 perfectly. We would recommend Jack for a Nikko tour for anyone looking to see the beautiful sights Nikko has to offer.
Tim, thank you so much for your nice words. Hope your rest of your trip be a memorable one! Jack
Jack is very knowledgeable about the history behind the shrines and mausoleums at Nikko. He related this history and information about Nikko and the area in a wonderfully organized and memorable way. He was also very flexible about changing the set itinerary, so we could see the beautiful Kegon Falls and the mountainous area near Nikko as well as the Taiyuin and Toshogu Shrine. He also took us to a great place for lunch--more of a local restaurant than a tourist hangout. He added immensely to our understanding and enjoyment of Nikko and the surrounding area. Jack is also very personable. It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend the day with Jack.
Hi Elizabeth, Thank you so much for your nice words to my tour.
Jack was great guide, knowledgeable and fun to be with for our day in Nikko
Thank you Hugh and Malgo. I really enjoyed the day with you. I hope you thoroughly enjoy the rest of your trip.
Jack-san was an excellent guide on our tour of Nikko. He worked with us to shape the tour to meet the requirements of our large group, and brought us to places we had not been before. We are a well-informed group, and Jack's extensive historical and cultural knowledge contributed to a pleasurable exploration of the shrines and imperial villa. We really enjoyed ourselves. We recommend Jack the tour guide wholeheartedly.
Hi Mike, Thank you so much making your comment which is excellent for me. I believe you enjoyed spending time in Nikko. If you like potteries, Mashiko is the place to visit next time. When you will be back to Japan with your grandchildren, I will take you to Edo Wonderland and Tobu World Square. Those theme parks are not required English Speaking Guide, though.
Grande Jack!! We really enjoyed the tour. Ciao Cate
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed my guiding with your group. I presume it was hard for you to translate in Italian for some of your group members.
