I am very familiar with leading tours throughout Japan so on occasion, I would be happy to create a bigger experience in other parts of the country if you would like to discuss directly with me.

***Please note that this is three stage process: We would agree on destinations to be included. 2. I would compile an overview. 3. If that is accepted, the guest agrees to receive a detailed itinerary including information about attractions, activities and transit details.
**Depending on the guest's length of stay and the time required to produce the tour itinerary document the guest may be quoted a fee of my hourly rate up to a maximum charge of (8) eight hours and if satisfied, to agree to accept that (subject to some reasonable amendments), the agreement to receive the itinerary would be a binding contract to agree to pay for the itinerary with no further obligation to accept it as a tour offer.

About

Hi!
Thanks for reviewing my profile.
I am Australian, from Sydney originally but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 30 odd years and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 18 of those 30 years.

I joined Triple Lights just recently but be assured I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau.

I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere.

I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

“ A day in Hiroshima ”

A wonderful day of sightseeing. Extremely informative. Lunch at a local restaurant was an added bonus something we certainly wouldn't have found without Hugh. Has certainly given us reasons to return as it made us wish we had been able to spend more time in Hiroshima.

“ Very interesting and knowledgeable guide ”

Hugh was good at communicating prior to the tour so that we knew exactly what we would be seeing and also helped us sort out how to spend the afternoon of our arrival before our tour. Hugh is very friendly and knowledgeable, with an excellent command of Japanese. Our tour of Hiroshima was interesting and informative . The gardens Hugh took us to in the afternoon were just fabulous. He also recommended some places we should visit on the rest of our tour of Japan .

“ Mitaki Temple and Kintaikyo Bridge ”

Hugh greeted us at our hotel and our first sight was Mitaki Temple which is both spiritual and relaxing, very peaceful place, then we headed off for sushi before walking across Kintaikyo Bridge.

“ Visiting Hiroshima ”

We work for a television station from America who came to Hiroshima to gather material for a human interest story that will be seen in the USA during the 2020 Olympics. We hired Hugh for two days. High was prompt with communication and was a tireless worker who helped coordinate interviews. Hugh provides important interpretation for two interviews with Hiroshima bomb survivors. His Japanese was excellent. He helped coordinate our visit with the museum and showed us various sites around Hiroshima. We interviewed Hugh on camera too. He did an excellent job providing background on the city and the important landmarks we wanted to film. He was knowledgeable and fun to be around. I would highly recommend Hugh as a tour guide for anyone visiting Hiroshima. And, he would be an excelle... read more

“ Fantastic one day tour in Hiroshima! ”

Had a great day in Hiroshima thanks to Hugh! Lots of information and details about the city and its history. Even when some of the places were crowded due to the Japanese summer holidays Hugh managed our time efficiently. Highly recommended!

Hugh:

Thanks, Joan! Very glad you enjoyed it as much as I did sharing it with you. Best, Hugh
