Thanks for reviewing my profile.
I am Australian, from Sydney originally but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 30 odd years and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 18 of those 30 years.
I joined Triple Lights just recently but be assured I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau.
I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere.
I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

Had a great day in Hiroshima thanks to Hugh! Lots of information and details about the city and its history. Even when some of the places were crowded due to the Japanese summer holidays Hugh managed our time efficiently. Highly recommended!
Thanks, Joan! Very glad you enjoyed it as much as I did sharing it with you. Best, Hugh
Hugh gave us a very complete tour in a short amount of time! We were very pleased with the information that was provided! Not only was Hugh very helpful during the tour he also gave us tips for the rest of the trip!
Hi Gabriella! Thanks for the great review. Wishing you all a wonderful remainder of your tour. Best, Hugh
He was punctual and very friendly. He shared his experiences of the Buddhist and Shinto temple sites. He was very good at getting us around with public transport. He is Australian though he has lived here for approximately 15 years, His English is flawless and his insights were very welcome, especially at the peace museum and the temple sights.
Thanks Brannon, Christine and James. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you.
Hugh prepared a great 5 hour tour to Hiroshima. He is very knowledgeable & friendly. The 5 hours went very quickly and he ensured that my teenage son was engaged at all times. Really enjoyable and I would highly recommend Hugh. His approach is friendly and he set the tone for a great 10 days in Japan. Thanks Hugh. James & George Cheney
Hi James, So glad you enjoyed the tour and it was a pleasure spending the time with you. I hope you have returned home safe and sound and this followed a great trip. Thanks very much for a great review! Best, Hugh
We wanted to do a road trip from Fukuoka to Osaka, with a few ideas of where we might want to stop, and kinds of things we like to do. Hugh did a great job of fleshing that out into a real, custom itinerary, with specific places to go, things to do, and places to eat and to get the best coffee. He even made some recommendations for places and activities tourists don't usually go, which delighted us. His advice as a local was a great help, and gave us confidence to go on our trip and to make the best use of our time. Highly recommended!
Hi Peter, It sounds like you enjoyed the trip! Very glad it was such a success and thanks for the great review. Best regards, Hugh
