Thanks for reviewing my profile.
I am Australian, from Sydney originally but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 30 odd years and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 18 of those 30 years.
I joined Triple Lights just recently but be assured I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau.
I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere.
I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

As a family with 2 teenage boys, I was very mindful of choosing the right guide for us in Hiroshima, and in choosing Hugh, we could not have had a better day! Hugh is a fountain of knowledge, who is always ready with a story, and took us to places that we would never have visited, had it not been for his local knowledge; including the best coffee in Japan!
Wow, Nicole. That is a glowing review. Thanks so very much! Wishing you, Dave, Tom and Charlie and lovely final night in Japan and a safe trip home. Best, Hugh
We had a great day with Hugh visiting Miyajima and sites within Hiroshima. Hugh was incredibly personable and informative and managed our group of 7 brilliantly. He also knows where to find the best okonomiyaki in Hiroshima.
Thanks so very much Cynthia. That’s a really valuable review. So glad you enjoyed the day.
We only had a few hours to spare in Hiroshima and wanted to see peace park and the memorials. Hugh was very helpful figuring out the train system for us and which ones we should take. He was there waiting for us right when we got there and took us around the city and was very knowledgeable about everything we had asked and a lot about japan in general not only Hiroshima. He took us to the BEST okanomiyaki spot and then took us back to the train station to return. Would highly suggest using Hugh as a guide!
Hi Erin, Thanks for a wonderful review! Hope you both got home safe and sound and have a great 2019! Hugh
