Hi I'm Yuka!
I'm a Japanese native that lived in Chicago for 5 years in my youth and came back to Japan at the age of 12. I studied Japanese culture, especially folklore, in University. My thesis was about Sumo jinku (the songs Sumo wrestlers sing on special occasions) and I reckon the best part of that was to go out drinking with sumo boys :)
I worked as a tour leader for an Australian tour company (Intrepid travel and World Expeditions) for 7 years until 2013, and simply loved taking people around Japan, sharing the beauty and craziness this country offers.
I want to be more of your good friend in Japan than a "tour guide," so my guiding style can be a bit laid-back compared to ordinary guides. I won't be giving you a standard tour, but I will be giving you a glimpse into Japanese life from a local point of view along with the historical and cultural explanations.
I am also a mum of 2 girls and would love meeting little friends from all over the world as well as grown-ups. I really enjoy sharing stories about raising kids with mums and dads from different countries. I have completed First Aid course for Children, Infants, and Adults with MEDIC.
I look forward to meeting you and showing you around!

I cannot be happier with Yuka. She was great right from the start of the tour at the train station. She provided me a card to use at the train stations to move around as she took me to all the sites that I wanted to see. Yuka speaks great English and was very helpful in translating everything. She is witty, polite, and has a great personality. Yuka likes to talk a lot and it was a pleasure to share some of my culture with her as well. As we saw the sights, Yuka carefully explained all of the history and details of the shrines, monuments, and gardens that we visited. Yuka is very knowledgable, informative, and she answered every question that I had. She even suggested other places to visit while I was in Japan. In the end of the tour, Yuka gave me a map of the train stations and even wrote down the route and instructions on how to get back to my hotel. I could not have done this tour without her help. I am so happy to have met Yuka and I'm looking forward to my next tour with her. Thank you very much Yuka!
Had a great time. Yuka is fun, young and outgoing! My family had a wonderful outing. We will re-book with Yuka next year for a Mt. Fuji hike.
Subject: Yuka Yoshida Private Tour Guide in Yokohama Location: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Kanto, Japan, Asia Title: One day in Tokyo ID#: 453579606 I had only one day to see the sights of Tokyo. Being guided by Yuka was like having a friend show you their home. She took me to temples, parks, shopping areas, hidden little secret places and famous areas like the Shibuya crossing. Yuka helped me get sorted with a SIM card for my phone and even used her credit card to make it easier for me so I only had to use cash. I would never have been able to cover the distances we did on public transport or find even half of the places we visited on my own. It was an awesome day and Yuka was great company. At the end I felt like I had said goodbye to a new friend. I highly recommend Yuka for what ever you would like to see. Here is what we got up to on my day: -Took loop line (Yamanote line) to Harajuku -Visited Meiji shrine and took photo with girl in kimono for "coming-of-age day" celebration -Strolled down Harajuku Takeshita street and Omotesando (front way to the shrine road) -Pineapple cake at Sunny Hills designed by Kengo Kuma (who is also designing the new Olympic stadium for 2020 Tokyo Olympics) -Subway to Shibuya -faithful Hachiko dog statue and Shibuya "scramble crossing". -Lunch at Ootoya -Hanzomon line and Oedo line to Shiodome station -Hamarikyu garden -Yamanote line back to Shinjuku from Shinbashi station Thanks Yuka, I had a ball x
This is my first visit to Japan , But having a guide like Yuka make it avery useful and meaningful. Yuka was a very nice friend that I enjoyed chatting with her during my two days tour. She was very knowledgable and kind.
We had a wonderful day long tour with Yuka. She helped us plan an itinerary in advance and shaped the sightseeing according to our interests. During our tour she was extremely personable and friendly. Her english fluency is excellent. Yuka was very knowledgeable about each of the areas we visited and answered all of our many questions. She was also flexible during the tour and allowed us to make changes on the go without any problems. We would certainly book another tour with Yuka and would recommend her to others without hesitation.
