Exploring the historical treasures and lovely landscape of Nara was a delight. Yumiko is informative, warm and an excellent guide. We requested and appreciated a walking tour which so fitted our sense of place.
Yumiko planned our day in Kyoto extremely well . She took account of my wife’s fall the previous week but we still saw all the places we wanted to . Yumiko was knowledgeable and very clear . We would recommend her unreservedly .
Thank you so much, Tony. I enjoyed being a company with you. I hope you come back to Japan in the near future. Yumiko
Yumiko was prompt and thorough with all communications, and did a great job guiding!
My son and I had a busy, but very interesting and educational one-day itinerary in Kyoto. We experienced Yumiko as a very good guide due to her knowledge and excellent English.
Yumiko introduced us to the sights and sounds of Kyoto. She was kind enough to explain the efficient Japanese train system as we were guided through both East and West Kyoto. Her knowledge of the history of the city, it’s shrines and temples was exceptional. The ease with which Yumiko moved us from train to walking to buses and when appropriate taxis seemed effortless and we were able to see a combination of 8 shrines and temples in kyoto including the sensational gold and silver temples. Yumiko was also able to set us in the right direction to visit the sensational Miho museum which is about an hour out of Kyoto. As well as showing us the sights Yumiko also introduced us to some local restaurants that we would never have found on our own and the food was ‘to die for’. If you are wanting h... read more
Thank you so much for your good review. I enjoyed your company and I am glad if you had a good time in Kyoto. Enjoy rest of your stay in Japan and of course Rugby game. Yumiko
Yumiko was the perfect guide for us. She went out of her way to meet us at the train station closer to our hotel and we were off for a grand adventure. Yumiko assembled an excellent itinerary that hit key highlights like Fushimi-Inari, Kiyomizudera and the Gion district, but also some more off the beaten path spots. She was very patient with impromptu stops to shop and picked an excellent tea house for lunch. We had to end a little early due to a sudden thunderstorm, but in total, it was a perfect day exploring Kyoto. Domo Arigato Gozaimashita, Yumiko!
Thank you for your good review. I hope you had a good stay in Kyoto in spite of a sudden thunderstorm on the day for Kawadoko. I really felt sorry I couldn't show you lovely garden in Ginkakuji. So please come back to Japan in the near future. Yumiko
Yumiko was a great guide for Nara. She laid out a great plan for the day and took us to all the sites. I would definitely recommend Yumiko to our friends. Her English was perfect and she had great knowledge of all the sites. We got to witness a Shinto wedding ceremony! It was a super hot day but she packed a lot of great sites in one day. I don’t think we would’ve seen so much on our own. She even found a terrific pizza restaurant to cool off and have lunch. You will not regret hiring her for the day.
Hi Amy, I'm glad you had a good time in Nara.( though incredibly hot and humid ) Please come back to Japan in cooler season and hope to see you again. Thank you. Yumiko
My family of 7 visited Kyoto for one day in August. The bamboo grove, golden temple, and rock garden were amazing. Yumiko was kind and knowledgeable, but very soft spoken and you really had to ask questions to get information. Meeting place was unclear and she walked very fast, rarely looking back to be sure we were all There. We had a 7 year old who walked a bit slower, so it was kind of frustrating.
Yumiko is a great guide! We were in contact from the very start about our itinerary. Due to the hot temperatures in Kyoto, I asked Yumiko to change the itinerary the day of, and she was super accommodating. I had a group of 5 people, two of whom are older, and we were able to pace the tour accordingly with many rest breaks! Would highly recommend Yumiko for anyone in the Kyoto area!
Hi Tim, Thank you for your good review. I hope you also had a successful day in Osaka. Did you enjoy Yakiniku dinner? You are really a good organizer. I wish I could be a help for you. I'm sure you and your family had a good time in Japan. Say hello to your family! Yumiko
Yumiko was a wonderful guide in Kyoto. She really was attuned to our style and needs right away. She is so easy to be with and knowledgeable. She was able to take us through so many Kyoto areas and highlights. Managing time and distance is a great way. She has a lot of energy , speaks English very well and was able to give us the background and flavor of all the sights and areas. Would definitely recommend !
Hi Rona, Thank you for your good review. How was your experience of Ryokan( Japanese Inn )? Could you see the lovely view of Mt. Fuji? I hope you had pleasant experience in Japan. Take care and send regards to your husband. Yumiko
Yumiko is great! From the time I contacted her by email to the end of the tour, she is very responsive, prompt, organized and informative. We learned a lot about Japan history and were able to visit many beautiful sceneries in one day! We are so appreciated that she was able to accommodate us at the last minute and add on an additional temple to visit despite passes her tour time. It turn out the last temple was the best one to see!! We highly recommend her to everyone if you want to learn about japan history and visit as many places as possible in a limited time!!
Hi Nancy, Thank you for your good review. It was really hot and busy day, but I hope you could taste of Japan. Now you are in Hong kong, right? Enjoy the rest of your holiday in Asia. Hope to see you again on someday in the future. Send regards to your family! Yumiko
very open and friendly, excellent english, very structured
Thanks for your nice review. I hope you spent good time in Japan. Send regards to your wife. Yumiko
We spent two days with Yumico. One in Kyoto and one in Osaka. She used to live in Silicon Valley California, so she speaks very good English and knows what foreign but specially Americans want. She showed us the mail places, recommended us street food, went to us to help to make some shopping and tough us about Japanese culture and manners. I strongly recommend Yumico for your next experience in the Kyoto-Osaka area.
Yumiko is beyond your typical local guide. She went out of the way for us and took such good care of us that we became friends instantly. She was extraordinary from the very beginning. I reached out to her by email and she was quick and responsive immediately. She took the time to paint the perfect itinerary for us in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka. She also provided estimated costs for us so we knew exactly what to expect. She was more than amazing! My kids both loved her so much, and they’re not easy to please! She was super patient and never left us for a minute unattended. She speaks English very fluently, and she took the time to explain the fascinating public transportation system so famous in Japan. She really went above and beyond for us, and we will forever be grateful that we ch... read more

We were on a cruise and our ship docked at Kobe port for a day. Yumiko met us at the Kobe port early in the morning, then we travel to Shin-Kobe to take the bullet train to Kyoto. So glad we had an opportunity to see the wonderful sites in Kyoto with Yumiko. She was very organized and flexible in planning our tour and we were able to see the major attractions we wanted to see. We enjoyed our tour in Kyoto very much. Thank you Yumiko.
We had a wonderful time in Kyoto with Yumiko. I have a bad knee, and she tried to minimize extra walking when possible. She has a very nice personality, and helped us plan our remaining time here.
Hi Ilene, Thank you for your good review. I enjoyed being your company. How was today? Went well? Fortunately the weather wasn't that bad. Sunday and Monday could be worse. Enjoy your stay in Japan! Yumiko
Yumiko planned a one-day itinerary to Kyoto and was quick to adapt on the fly when we encountered more crowds than anticipated. We enjoyed quiet time at several temples and a wonderful tempura lunch. Yumiko is a thoughtful and kind guide; the communication preparing for the day was comprehensive. I recommend her for a day in Kyoto.
Hi Laura, Thank you for your good review though I couldn't make the tea ceremony appointment accordingly. I must apologize for disappointing you. However I wish you could enjoy some essence of Japan. Yumiko
Yumiko is a very nice person and a wonderful guide, takes care of every detail, pays attention to everyone’s needs. Very knowledgeable. We hired her for two full days in Kyoto and Nara. Family of 5, we highly recommend her
Thank you for your good review. I really enjoyed being with you and your lovely family. Hope to see you someday in the future again. Yumiko
I enjoyed my trip to Japan very much. And Yumiko is very nice lady I enjoyed her company as well. I recommend her highly and if I go back to Japan I would like her to be my guide again. Thank you Yumiko for all you did for us to make my trip so pleasant. Heidi
We spent a very enjoyable day and a half with Yumiko touring the Kyoto area. Yumiko is an excellent guide and took the time to ascertain what we most wanted to do in our time together. With a rainy day forecast for the second day of our time together, Yumiko proactively suggested some revisions to our schedule to deal with the anticipated poor weather. Seeing the bamboo forests in the midst of a light rain was magical and we were able to see many of the important sites in the Kyoto area. To us it was more important to take our time to appreciate an area rather than rush to try to see everything and Yumiko responded accordingly. She also gave us some excellent suggestions for places to visit and things to do on our own in our remaining time in Kyoto. Yumiko speaks fluent English and i... read more
Hello Barry, Thank you for the good review. I am so happy to spend time with you together. I wish you could taste of Kyoto though it was raining. Hope enjoy the rest of your trip! Yumiko
Yumiko was a FABULOUS guide! She is articulate and knowledgable. She is caring and generous with her time and effort. She checked the weather and let us know to bring rain gear. She planned three perfect days for us based on seeing the best of Kyoto and where the cherry blossoms were blooming best. She was able to describe all about what we seeing. I asked to enjoy a Sencha do tea ceremony, which is hard to find, because I had studied it years ago. She not only found us a tea ceremony, but one which let us try our hands at making tea under the guidance of the teacher. So wonderful! She was able to arrange a pottery demonstration with an elder master potter which was amazing and from whom we could buy truly beautiful pottery. Every day Yumiko spent longer than her planned time with us and g... read more

Hi Dina and Rita, Thank you for your good review. I wish you happy and adventurous trip in Japan. See you in Nara. Yumiko
We were pleased to spend a day and a half with Yumiko - first a half day visit to the beautiful White Heron castle ar Himeji, a World Heritage site and quite magnificent and Kobe, and then a full day to visit the ancient capital Kyoto, with visits to a temple, pagoda, traditional buildings and markets and historic areas. Everything was at our own pace, seeing what we wanted, including a trip on the Shinkansen bullet train. Timing was perfect and Yumiko was a perfect guide!
Thank you so much for your good review. I was very happy to see you both and take you to some interesting places in Kyoto. ( wish we had more time though.... ) I wish you wonderful and safe trip to China. Yumiko
Yumiko planned an excellent day for my sister and me. We came from California and Minnesota. We had some travel delays and Yumiko was very kind and flexible with scheduling. She is very knowledgeable about the area. Not only did she plan our day, she also gave us ideas for other days on our own. Also, Yumiko’s English is SUPERB! She lived many years in the USA and she was able to understand my Minnesota accent. I highly recommend that you book your tour with Yumiko!
Hi Evy, Thank you so much for your review. I wish you wonderful stay in Tokyo. Yumiko
I and my family had an amazing day at Kyoto. We visited many beatiful places. Yumiko planned everythng, supported us since the hotel and talked a lot of histories about Kyoto. Thank you very much!
Thank you for your encouraging review. Nothing is better than knowing that you had an amazing day with me. You are like my friend from Brazil. I hoped you felt comfortable in Japan which is your grand parents' country. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
We spent 4 hours today being guided by Yumiko through the Kinkaku-ji temple and the spectacular rock garden at Ryoan-ji. Yumiko was unfailingly pleasant and patient with our questions, having planned the trip so we could avoid the rush of tourists. She also helped us plan the remainder of our afternoon, staying with us well past the allotted time. A great start to our stay in Kyoto!
Thank you for the nice review. I hope your Saihoji visit went OK smoothly. Have a wonderful new year with your lovely family! Listen to the JOYA-No-KANE on 31st midnight. ( you can hear the sound of bell from the temples. very traditional )
My wife and I had the pleasure of spending two days with Yumiko during our recent visit to Japan, with one day spent in Kyoto and another in Nara We found her to be a good communicator and very knowledgeable and our trip was significantly enhanced by the time we spent with her. She was also very easy to work with and highly responsive during the planning stages. I'd certainly recommend contacting her if you're looking for a guide, particularly for Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and surrounding areas.
Hi Kevin, Thank you for a good review. I also enjoy being your guide. Enjoy traveling all over the world! Send regards to your beautiful wife! Yumiko
Thank you so much for your flexibility and efforts in meeting our ambitious itinerary, we did it. And we will not forget our lunch together at the famous tofu restaurant or in our Gion experience showing us the tea and parfait shop. Your warmth and conversations made us feel like we were with a friend.
Hi Carolyn, Thank you for your good review. I’m very happy if you could spend pleasant time with me. Actually I have just started this work. I thought it would be wonderful if I could help introducing Japan to people from the world. You helped me practicing this. I felt so bad I made a mistake. I will be better next time. By the way, did you have a successful trip in Shikoku. I am sure you had interesting experience. Send regards to your husband and friends. Thanks again. Yumiko
Exploring kyoto and nara was exciting and interesting with the help of our tour guide yumiko. She was such a nice tour guide, very accommodating in meeting us at the nearest station to our hotel...very passionate and eager to share informations about the history and different cultures of japan, and it much appreaciated. She is knowledgeable with the transit system..and very resourceful.and her english is excellent.. Her service is very satisfactory. I would definitely recommend her to my friends who want to visit japan.
Hi Sheryl, Thank you for the nice comment. I'm glad if you had good time in Japan. Come again with your children! Yumiko
Yumiko guided me on an enjoyable first day in Kyoto, helping me to get accustomed to using the buses around the city. We first travelled to Kiyomizudera temple, then walked back through Higashiyama to Kodaji temple and Yasaka shrine. The time was spent at my own pace and there were many fascinating shops along the way, with ceramics and wood cut prints, which slowed our pace. Yumiko was very flexible. After a short wander through Gion, we ate noodles at a restaurant near Nishiki followed by a walk through the market where Yumiko explained the many Japanese foods, there was an amazing array! We finished at Nazenji, a little too late, but not unexpectedly as I preferred to go slowly rather than rush around. Yumiko ably described the historical background to the sites and acted as both guide... read more

I had a wonderful day out with Kyoto. She was very helpful in securing access to even the most difficult to reach Kyoto temples. She was very flexible in terms of planning the trip and was a delight to spend the day with. I highly recommend hiring her if you are interested in gaining insight into the history and culture of Kyōto.
Thank you, Lily! Come back to Japan with your parents as friends on your next visit. Yumiko
Yumiko is a fantastic guide. She knows about the art, history and local culture of Kyoto. She led us through the subway system, making the day a breeze. She was happy to meet our requests, but also has plenty of ideas as well. And to top it off, she speaks excellent English. Top notch!
