Mai met us punctually at the cruise ship terminal at Ishinomaki port and she accompanied us by taxi to a local station where we caught a local train to Matsushima. We visited all the sights including beautiful gardens and temples and later went on a boat trip around the bay where she pointed out all the islands of interest. She was a delightful person, very friendly and knowledgeable and we had a very relaxed and interesting time. Mai was happy to take things at our pace, being four older people, and her origami lesson at the traditional tea house overlooking the bay she took us to was a lovely surprise and a fitting end to the day.
