Hello, I’m Kazuhiko Goto. Please call me “Kazu”. I'm a national-licensed tour guide. I have a wife and 4 children.
I was born in Osaka city, although I have lived in many places across Japan, such as Matsue city which is famous for beautiful Lake Shinji and Izumo Great Shrine, Niigata city which is famous for delicious rice and Japanese sake, and Kurume city which is closer to many hot springs and the active volcano, Mt.Aso.
Now, I live in Hikone city which is near Kyoto. This city faces beautiful Lake Biwa, which is the biggest lake in Japan
and the city's main feature is Hikone castle, whose castle keep is a national treasure.
My home town, Osaka city, is one of the largest cities in Japan.
This city has been known as the city of “Kuidaore” which means that people in Osaka ruin themselves by overspending on food.
As the name suggests, there are unique dishes, such as
Tecchiri (globefish boiled in a pot), Kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers of meats or vegetables), Takoyaki (octopus dumplings), and
Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake with various ingredients).
In Osaka, there are also many famous spots, such as the huge Osaka castle complex, bustling Dotombori pleasure resort area and the Umeda Sky Building whose twin towers have a unique shape
Moreover, Osaka is near the historic cities of Kyoto and Nara and the port city Kobe, which is filled with an air of exoticism.
I have guided many foreign tourists as an English tour guide for 2 years since taking an early retirement.
Why did I aim to obtain this license ?
While working for an electric company, I often went abroad on business trips to the U.S.A., Thailand, Hong Kong and China,
I received a lot of kind support from local people.
Therefore, I have thought I should return the favor and I have been thinking about how to do it.
Fortunately, I have a depth of knowledge of many places across Japan, since I used to live there as mentioned above.
Moreover, I am interested in Japanese history, culture, and geography, and I also like intercultural exchanges.
I decided to become a tour guide for foreign tourists, because
I would like to make them happy.
I think that this is a suitable job for me to return the favor to people.
Now, I take delight in doing this job, and I have found out that I can take advantage of my experience and knowledge .
I believe that you will fully enjoy your tour in Japan with me.

Kazuhiko was extremely professional and we couldn't have asked for a better guide on our day around Osaka. He took us exactly to the places we desired to visit in our custom tour (including all the way to the Kofun burial grounds). We traveled with our 1 year old baby and he was very patient and helped us find all the ways throughout Osaka to take our baby with our stroller.
We found Togo to be a very nice gentleman. He was friendly, helpful, very organized. He tried to do his best to answer our questions. We found him to be punctual and helpful but lacking in-depth knowledge on the subject, or at least struggling a little bit with transferring it to us. This may not be an issue for everyone but for us it was. We felt that at time he could not find the right words to express himself. We did like that he provided us with a lot of colorful visuals (maps, time tables) that he printed for us. He was definitely trying his best.
Mr. Goto was a wonderful guide. Very sweet, knowledgeable, efficient (he can zip everyone on & off trains, which saved us so much time), and flexible. He had planned the day for us in Kyoto, but if we wanted to make any changes it was no problem. We were traveling with two teenage sons. He speaks English very well. It was very hot the day we were with him so he made sure that we had some time inside to cool off. Would definitely recommend him. Thank you to your wife for the origami that you gave us!
Goto (his preferred name) was a great guide in Kyoto for two days. He was very knowledgeable and when he wasn't sure of any answers he looked them up overnight for the next day. He was flexible and pleasant to be with. His English is 90% but we had fun learning from each other.
We (family 4) spent a great day with Goto in Kyoto in August. We met at Kyoto central station and were off! Goto had planned our time and was really keen to show us the maximum of Kyoto he could fit in the day. In fact due to the high temperatures we couldn't get through the schedule but Goto adjusted so we had a longer lunch at a great belt sushi restaurant that our children loved. Goto was a good company over the day, we enjoyed good conversation and learnt a little Japanese (very little!), and connected. Thanks Goto for your commitment to showing us everything and the great company.
