We had a wonderful experience with Toshi. He was very accommodating and was very happy to help cater the tour to exactly what we wanted to do and see. He was very insightful and gave great advice for enjoying the rest of our stay in Kyoto.
Hi Matthew, Thank you very much for a wonderful review. I was a bit amazed when I heard that you guys walked to the Hotel from Kyoto Station. Normally international travelers take a taxi to get to their accommodation site, because of unfamiliar environment and directions. I just thought that these people know how to get about. It seems like that you have had a fun tour in Kyoto. It’s nice to be young and healthy. I really hope that you guys will form a warm family and that she will pursue her career to cope with various issues. Best regards, Toshi
We had a fun day touring with Toshi. He was knowledgeable and interesting. Had a great tour of Osaka with him.
Hi Dominique, South African team is going to participate in the finals. Congratulations! did you see Japan vs. Scotland game yesterday? I hope Japan and South Africa will meet in the final game, and XXXXX win. Thank you for you review. Please say hello to your husband, and take care. Best regards, Toshi
My husband, son and I spent half a day with Toshi seeing the Osaka Castle and visiting a couple famous neighborhoods. He was very knowledgeable, speaks very good English, and was also flexible in adjusting the itinerary on the go to accommodate my son's interest in anime. Toshi suggested several good spots for pictures and found a great restaurant where he helped us order local food. Although the scheduled time was up, Toshi made sure we were able to find a store my son wanted to visit and then got us a taxi. We had a great time with Toshi.
Hi Diane, Thank you very much for your review. I myself had a fun time touring with your family. Your husband is friendly and an interesting gentleman to talk to and listen to. I was wondering whether your son got something he wanted have at the Animate place and got back home alright. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed eating local food at the restaurant. Please take care and convey my regards to your husband and son. Best regards, Toshi
Toshi-san and I had a lovely day touring temples and gardens. Even though it rained most of the day, with his knowledge of Kyoto’s transit system we were able to cover a lot of ground in a short time. We spent the morning in Arashiyama then ended our tour at the Golden Pavilion. As a solo traveler he made me feel comfortable and even eased my embarrassment when I realized I hadn’t brought enough cash! Thank you for your graciousness, Toshi. I enjoyed my tour!
Hi Holly, How are you doing? Thank you for the review. You mentioned about your embarrassment. I just wanted you to forget that while we are touring together so that you can enjoy what you were seeing and experiencing during the rest of the tour. I simply wanted you to have a fun day. After reading your review, I found out I kind of succeeded in doing that. Thank you. Could you see the cultural performance at Gion Corner? Best regards, Toshi
From the start, with prompt email responses, personalized itinerary, to the full day of enjoyable experiences, Toshi was an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable about the sites we visited and patient with our requests to find specific items and kept track of us while we meandered through the crowded markets! Thank you for an excellent adventure!
Hi Sandra, Thank you for your nice review. Too bad, that your husband was unable to join the tour. However, I'm glad that we could find the food and the Sake that you were looking for. I was hoping that your husband was happy with what you had gotten. If you ever come to Osaka or Kyoto, please let me know. Best regards, Toshi
Thank you Toshi for a great day in Kyoto. Toshi was excellent at communicating with us prior to our visit, recommending an itinerary that included our wish list of visiting an area with an experience of old Japan and the possibility of seeing a Geisha or Maiko. Toshi met us from the cruise terminal in Osaka and took us with him by train and taxi to the Kiyomizu Temple and the Gion district. In spite of the rain we had a wonderful day. Toshi was very informative and has many interesting stories to tell about the areas we visited. He is also very kind and mindful of our needs.Toshi made sure we arrived back to the ship in good time and having such an experienced guide made our tour so easy and enjoyable. Thank you for the recommendation to visit the Hakutsuri brewery at our next port of Kob... read more
Hi Lynda, Thank you so much for an excellent review. I’m really glad to hear that you had a wonderful day with me in Kyoto, in spite of rainy weather. Kyoto has a lot to offer you. Please let me know when you com back to Japan. We can have "Kyoto Tour for Lynda & Phil" 2nd round. Take care and please say hello to Phil. Best regards, Toshi
Toshi had organised two days of touring, taking into account my wife’s difficulty with her knees. This worked out well and we enjoyed two excellent days in and around Osaka. Toshi is an informed guide and an interesting man to spend time with. We would recommend him
Hi Peter, Thank you for your review. I really hope that your wife will receive a good doctor treatment and recover as quickly as possible, and then we will have a fun Kyoto tour together once more. Please say, "Hello and take care" to your wife. Best regards, Toshi
We had a half-day tour of Nara with guide Toshi. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, and was very accommodating to our schedule. Overall, an excellent experience. Thank you, Toshi!
Hi Sebastian, Thank you for your review. It was a really hot day. Your family seemed to havve a fun time in Nara, feeding deer, visiting the great Buddha, experiencing Japanese garden and watching Mochi-pounding and eating just pounded Mochi. I hope these things will be a good memory for your children. Best regards, Toshi
Toshi was professional and helped prepare for our requests to visit some less frequently attended locations. His kindness was lovely.
Hi Lauren, Thank you for your prompt review. I also thank you for arranging the van/ driver who were very familiar with local streets. I'm glad that we could join the first tour of Katsura Detached Imperial Villa without waiting time. We were lucky. Take care. Toshi
Toshi took us on a nice 1.5 day tour of Kyoto. He customized the tour based on what we wanted to see. He also gave us good dinner recommendations.
Hi Josh, Thank you very much for your review. I’m glad that you had a wonderful time in Kyoto. If you find out the date you will be coming to Osaka, please let me know. I can take you some place interesting, or we can have dinner together, How about both? Best regards, Toshi
Toshi was super nice. He took us to some great places. He had a lot of knowledge about Japan. When we forgot our umbrellas in his backpack (we were luck to not have rain) he went completely out of his way to bring them to our next hotel. Thanks so much for all the help Toshi!!!
Hi Margit, I saw a few umbrellas and a raincoat in my back pack, after I got back home. I completely forgot to return them to you. I was hoping that it would not rain in Kyoto next day, while I kept them. I think the weather was OK, wasn't it? Thank you very much for your nice review. Best regards, Toshi
Toshi spoke excellent English, was very pleasant to be with and took us all the places we requested to go. All this for just 5 of us at 1/3 the price of a cruise ship land excursion covering the same things on a bus of 40 people.
Hi David, I do not know about the land excursion trip for cruise ship passengers. But I'm happy that your family members seemed to enjoy my guiding service in Osaka. Thank you very much for your review. Please tell Paul that I had sent the post card right away, which he asked me to send just before all of you went back to the cruise ship. Best regards, Toshi
We required a guide who can speak good English and is knowledgeable of the history of the places that we are interested in touring in Kyoto and Osaka. From a roster of guides on Triple Lights, we chose Toshi because he had his college education in the U.S. and worked as a media coordinator which hopefully will ensure a well-organized tour. We were not disappointed. Toshi had good command of both written and spoken English language. His choice of words were precise and accurate. In terms of organization, Toshi started communicating with us 2 months before the tour and we gave him an idea of our interests, the places that we intend to visit and the profile of our group. Before our arrival in Japan, he had sent a proposed itinerary for our review. We had to revise the itinerary along ... read more
Toshi was a very affable and knowledgeable guide.
Hi Paul and Sam, Thank you very much for your review. I hope your exploration at the Shrine will go well. If you find anything interesting, please share it with me. Best regards, Toshi
What a great guide,
Simple, but powerful message.Thank you very much. I'm hoping that your wish will come true and come back to Japan again. Best regards, Toshi
We were lucky to have two days with Toshi-san, and we covered a lot of ground in Osaka and Kyoto. Toshi is very knowledgeable and was very attentive to the energy and interests of our family. He continually went above and beyond to ensure our travels were easy and rewarding, sharing ideas and insights beyond our travels together. Next time we are in Tokyo we look forward to reconnecting with Toshi for more adventures.
Thank you very much for your nice review. Osaka has a lot of canals. You can enjoy boat-riding next time you come to Osaka, and you could visit famous Nada-Gogo (five Sake brewery districts in Hyogo Prefecture) area to learn more about Sake. When you come to Japan again, let me know. I can make an interesting itinerary for you and your family. Best regards, Toshi
As we are making a roundtrip in Japan, having only a couple of days to spent in Kyoto, we preferred to hire a private guide for our family of 5 (three teenager kids). We booked two full-day tours with Toshi, a native Japanese guide who is fluently in English! Toshi has been a wonderful guide for us, taking care of everyone, taking time to explain his tour plan at the start of the tour and giving a lot of background information during both tours! Our favorite tour was the Arashiyama tour (bamboo groove, Togetsu-kyo bridge, Golden pavilion, Nishiki market), as the weather was absolutely wonderful that day! The Higashiyama tour was very impressive as well, with a lot of beautiful (and colourful) sightseeing places. As we are travelling in high season, the major sightseeing areas in Ky... read more
Hi Claudia, We had a bit of rain on the first day in Higashiyama, but second day in Arashiyama turned out to be such a nice day. I'm really glad that you all had a wonderful day. Frank: Thank you for the photos you took by Hozu River. My wife liked them very much. Tom: Your Japanese is excellent, much advanced than my expectation. Please keep on learning, especially try to spend time on explaining things concerning what you have interests in. Helene: I was impressed with your piano-playing at the music store. You seemed to be enjoying very much. Laura: You expressed your interest in playing the drums straight forward. I like that sort of attitude towards what you want to do. You have wonderful three children. The way they are is because the way you and Frank are. Great family! ... read more
I arranged a short tour with Toshi for my family. My mother is 86 years old so i wanted to be sure she was safe and comfortable with the amount of walking we did. Toshi was very considerate of her needs and checked on her often. We were able to view Kumamoto castle during Sakura season so my daughter was also happy. Dontambouri area was very crowded, similar to NYC. He showed us a very small shrine and a sweet bean soup shop which we enjoyed very much. It took me back to my childhood many years ago. I wish we had more time to Hanami! It looked so fun. Thank You Toshi for the nice afternoon and pictures you took of my family.
I'm glad that you and your mother had a good time in Osaka. I think, perhaps, cherry blossoms in Nishinomaru garden and Hohzen-ji temple were the highlights in the tour for your mother and the rest of family members. My wife and I had a special feeling towards your mother and wanted to welcome your mother and your family with that feeling. At the shin-Osaka station, I explained how my wife got the KIntsuba gift for your mother. I'm hoping now that you understood "how come", too. Take care and say hello to MInoru-san. Best regards, Toshi
Highly recommended .:) thank you.:)
Hi Gen, I could not guide your client family on the following day, since I was already booked by another party. A friend of mine took care of them, guiding in Kyoto. According to my friend, your client family seemed to enjoy the tour with him. Best, Toshi
Thank you so much Toshi-san for taking us out to see Osaka for the first time with our two active boys. We changed our agenda quite abit to suit our boys which Toshi-san was more than welcoming to do. I think we got to see all the little and enjoyable things the local do which is what we wanted really. Our favourite places would be Kuromon Ichiba Market, which was not on the agenda but we went to as it was near our hotel and it was gold, not so busy, good food and shopping. Our kids also loved the big Ferris wheel. As a family with two boys ,5 and 10, it can be hard to keep them entertained but they had a great time with Toshi-san! Thank you so much again!
Hi Linda, I'm glad to hear that your boys had good time with me in Osaka. Though we could not follow the original itinerary so much, I think it was OK because boys enjoyed visiting Umeda Sky Building and Ferris wheel ride very much. Richard and you seemed to be happy about the tour. It was a fun day, and I myself enjoyed being with active boys. Say hello to them and Richard for me. Thank you for your review. Toshi
Toshi met us at the port on time as he agreed to. We found him to be well informed, knowledgeable and considerate of having to deal with two seniors. He continually looked for ways to show us as much as he could considering the time we were in port. He was always looking for additional locations that would make our visit rewarding and enjoyable. He escorted us to a wonderful restaurant where we enjoyed a lunch of shabu-shabu. It could not have been any better. If you are able to secure a date for his services you would not be disappointed, a real pleasure to be with.
Hi David, I thank you very much for your review and chocolate. I'm glad that you had a good time with me in Kyoto. It is really my pleasure to hear what you said. I feel good about what I prepared for your tour. Your review gave me a confidence as a tour guide and an energy, which keeps me going. Thank you again. Toshi
Mr Toshi starts the day missing my address. We waited an hour for that. However he make up with his good nature and friendliness. Speaks well in English. Upon reaching kyoto, the first itenary was manga museum and he missed it again, we have to skip and went to arishiyama, nice place and it was crowded. He need to update his travelling routine otherwise he is not too bad. We had lunch together after he found a halal restaurant in arishiyama. We manage to complete only one itenary as we were quite slow. He was nice enough to bring us to our hotel. We paid his travelling expenses and everything went well eventually. Thank Allah.
A week before your tour day, I went to Tenjnbashi-rokuchome area and looked for the hotel with the address you gave me. I somehow found a guest house on the same address as you gave me. On the tour day, I went there 15 minutes earlier and waited for you there for 45 minutes or so. Then I called Triple Lights for a help. They told me that you were waiting for me at a subway exit. There, we could meet each other. After going through maze-like underground pathways, I became disoriented when we came out from underground. Then I mislead everyone. I sincerely apologize for that once more. You decided to go to next place, Arashiyama. We went to a Kimono rental shop at which a booking was made in advance. Every one seemed happy to see your daughter in Kimono. Then we went to a halal restaurant. ... read more
Toshi was really spectacular. He explained everything to us from the beginning- our itinerary and plan to get there. He captivated everyone in the family by speaking to each and everyone of us. We really enjoyed our time with him and felt so lucky we had Toshi for the day. Would highly recommend him to everyone!!
Hi Ron, Thank you for writing such a nice review on me. It was a fun and very pleasant tour for me too. I'm hoping that your daughters will remember this Kyoto tour sometime in the future, and that both of you are doing fine and come back to Kyoto or Osaka again. Thank you!
Toshi met us at the cruise port in Kobe. He expertly guided us via monorail, train and subway to Osaka. He was willing to spend the day doing whatever we wanted. We spent the morning at Osaka Castle Park. We then took a taxi to the shopping district, Dotombori. Toshi started the day as our tour guide but by the end of the day he was our friend. He had a great sense of humor. His English was very good. He was extremely knowledgeable! At the end of the day, he accompanied is back to the port in Kobe. He really wanted us to have a great experience and we did. My wife and I would highly recommend Toshi.
Hi Jeffrey and Donna, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I really really enjoyed being your guide. In a way, I feel a little bad about it, because I'm the one who enjoyed the most on the tour and received guide fee. Maybe I'm the one who should pay to you for a great company. Hope you will continue to have a great voyage in Japan and else. Thank you too much, keep in touch. Toshi
Thankyou Toshi. Our 3 daughters had a fantastic all day tour. See you on Sunday for round 2
Thank you very much for your review. I'm really glad to hear that. You still have one more day touring in Kyoto with me. Your daughters will have an educational and experiential fun day one more time in Kyoto, today. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again. Best regards, Toshi
We, a family from Australia, went a day with Toshi. He a very good tour guide who can speak and explain in English very well. We enjoyed that and recommend him for other English speaker tourists.
Hi Dat-san, Thank you very much for your prompt review. It seemed like that your family members enjoyed Umeda Sky Building and had a fun time upon the roof top. It was perhaps the highlight of your Osaka tour. I'm hoping your family get on an express train smoothly and get to Kansai International Airport safely. Best regards, Toshi
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Toshi in Kyoto. I sent him a list of the places we were hoping to visit and he arranged an itinerary to fit. He was able to also fit in some places we would not have thought to visit, like the Okochi Sanso garden, which was one of the highlights of the day.
Hi Deborah, I'm very glad that you said, "Ohkohchi Sanso was the one of the highlights of the tour. " It was a beautiful day. We could see Mt.Hiei in the east and Hozu valley from the villa. It was fun for me too, to stroll around Arashiyama with both of you. When you have another chance to come back to Kyoto or Kanasai Region, please let me know. I would like to show you Kyoto in depth and other interesting places. Thank you for your review.
We found Toshi’s profile and realized he would be a great fit. He understood as Americans we have lots of questions and we like to talk. He was flexible and worked great around our needs and children’s needs. We explained we were going around the world and that the culture is the kids class room. He engaged right away with our kids. The second day we lost 2 and we had to change plans and he was awesome about the change. Very easy going and extremely likable. Would recommend him any time.
Hi Steve-san, Thank you so much for a wonderful review. It was too bad that we could not follow what we planned. It's not fun to feel not well while you travel especially in different culture. Sometimes, taking a rest and having an easy day is important as your family will continue a world trip. I hope you and your children are well by now. Mindy is a great mother of two boys. She takes care of the rest of her family very well. I learned a lot from her by seeing the way she communicates with two boys and you. You can take the boys to the Kyoto Railway Museum, while you are in Kyoto. They have a collection of steam locomotives and different types of trains. I'm sure that they will enjoy very very much. The museum is not far from your hotel. Have a fun time in Kyoto, and take care. ... read more
Toshi was like a friend you meet after long time. He was able to armonize very quick with our family and create a friendly atmosphere. He was very flexible and open for spontaneous changing of the squeduled plans and the communication in English was very good and fluent. We had a very hard time to get along with the high temperatures during the time we were for our first time in Japan, Toshi had a lot of understanding for making stops when needed. timetable planing could be better. We arrived just to late to some places we wanted to see. But he also show us places we did not expected to see. Thank you Toshi
Hi Belen, How are you? It was fun and interesting to visit Kyoto and Nara with you, your partner and children. It had been extremely hot during the whole tour, but it will be very nice memory for them, especially when they get older. Thank you for writing a review on me. Best regards, Toshi
