Hello, my name is Toshiro. You can call me,”Toshi”.
Please let me introduce myself a bit.
I was born in Kyoto, raised in Nagoya and live in Osaka currently. I had a college education in the U.S. and became a media coordinator after I got back to Japan. Media coordinator helps foreign film makers, TV productions, or journalists assisting in such ways as taking care of logistics, setting up interview, location hunting and translating. Some of the coordinator’s tasks are similar to ones a tour guide has to do in order to present a good guiding service.
As a coordinator for media projects, I have traveled extensively throughout Japan, an experience that led me to a greater appreciation for my own country and its people, landscapes, customs, food, and cultures. I would like to share these things with you. I presented some tours around Osaka in my page. If you would like to explore Osaka, Nara, Kyoto or else, please let me know.
In addition to the tours I introduced, just one thing I would like to mention:
There may be some particular things that you want to see or do in Japan. You may be thinking, " I really want to try Zen meditation", or you may say to yourself, "Wouldn't it be wonderful to attend a tea ceremony." or you may think, "If only I could try my hand at Japanese calligraphy."
Whatever your wishes to be, all too often hesitations and fears about the language barrier, cultural differences, and a general lack of familiarity with Japan lead you to abandon these dreams. Just let me know what you want to try, to do or to see, if you have a particular thing. I will be very happy to be instrumental to realize your Japan-wish. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

As we are making a roundtrip in Japan, having only a couple of days to spent in Kyoto, we preferred to hire a private guide for our family of 5 (three teenager kids). We booked two full-day tours with Toshi, a native Japanese guide who is fluently in English! Toshi has been a wonderful guide for us, taking care of everyone, taking time to explain his tour plan at the start of the tour and giving a lot of background information during both tours! Our favorite tour was the Arashiyama tour (bamboo groove, Togetsu-kyo bridge, Golden pavilion, Nishiki market), as the weather was absolutely wonderful that day! The Higashiyama tour was very impressive as well, with a lot of beautiful (and colourful) sightseeing places. As we are travelling in high season, the major sightseeing areas in Ky... read more
Hi Claudia, We had a bit of rain on the first day in Higashiyama, but second day in Arashiyama turned out to be such a nice day. I'm really glad that you all had a wonderful day. Frank: Thank you for the photos you took by Hozu River. My wife liked them very much. Tom: Your Japanese is excellent, much advanced than my expectation. Please keep on learning, especially try to spend time on explaining things concerning what you have interests in. Helene: I was impressed with your piano-playing at the music store. You seemed to be enjoying very much. Laura: You expressed your interest in playing the drums straight forward. I like that sort of attitude towards what you want to do. You have wonderful three children. The way they are is because the way you and Frank are. Great family! ... read more
I arranged a short tour with Toshi for my family. My mother is 86 years old so i wanted to be sure she was safe and comfortable with the amount of walking we did. Toshi was very considerate of her needs and checked on her often. We were able to view Kumamoto castle during Sakura season so my daughter was also happy. Dontambouri area was very crowded, similar to NYC. He showed us a very small shrine and a sweet bean soup shop which we enjoyed very much. It took me back to my childhood many years ago. I wish we had more time to Hanami! It looked so fun. Thank You Toshi for the nice afternoon and pictures you took of my family.
I'm glad that you and your mother had a good time in Osaka. I think, perhaps, cherry blossoms in Nishinomaru garden and Hohzen-ji temple were the highlights in the tour for your mother and the rest of family members. My wife and I had a special feeling towards your mother and wanted to welcome your mother and your family with that feeling. At the shin-Osaka station, I explained how my wife got the KIntsuba gift for your mother. I'm hoping now that you understood "how come", too. Take care and say hello to MInoru-san. Best regards, Toshi
Highly recommended .:) thank you.:)
Hi Gen, I could not guide your client family on the following day, since I was already booked by another party. A friend of mine took care of them, guiding in Kyoto. According to my friend, your client family seemed to enjoy the tour with him. Best, Toshi
Thank you so much Toshi-san for taking us out to see Osaka for the first time with our two active boys. We changed our agenda quite abit to suit our boys which Toshi-san was more than welcoming to do. I think we got to see all the little and enjoyable things the local do which is what we wanted really. Our favourite places would be Kuromon Ichiba Market, which was not on the agenda but we went to as it was near our hotel and it was gold, not so busy, good food and shopping. Our kids also loved the big Ferris wheel. As a family with two boys ,5 and 10, it can be hard to keep them entertained but they had a great time with Toshi-san! Thank you so much again!
Hi Linda, I'm glad to hear that your boys had good time with me in Osaka. Though we could not follow the original itinerary so much, I think it was OK because boys enjoyed visiting Umeda Sky Building and Ferris wheel ride very much. Richard and you seemed to be happy about the tour. It was a fun day, and I myself enjoyed being with active boys. Say hello to them and Richard for me. Thank you for your review. Toshi
Toshi met us at the port on time as he agreed to. We found him to be well informed, knowledgeable and considerate of having to deal with two seniors. He continually looked for ways to show us as much as he could considering the time we were in port. He was always looking for additional locations that would make our visit rewarding and enjoyable. He escorted us to a wonderful restaurant where we enjoyed a lunch of shabu-shabu. It could not have been any better. If you are able to secure a date for his services you would not be disappointed, a real pleasure to be with.
Hi David, I thank you very much for your review and chocolate. I'm glad that you had a good time with me in Kyoto. It is really my pleasure to hear what you said. I feel good about what I prepared for your tour. Your review gave me a confidence as a tour guide and an energy, which keeps me going. Thank you again. Toshi
