My name is Akira.
I am certified national guide interpreter.
I have been living in Tokyo for more than 30 years.
I love walking in the city with no particular plan finding trasures in the streets such as nice ramen noodle restaurants, cafes, funny billboards, and most of all, narrow alleys that remind me of good old days.
I will help you enjoying the days in the city fully and making your vist memorable one.
I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

My wife Bonnie and I had an absolutely wonderful (although exhausting) day exploring the beautiful north eastern portion of Tokyo. There is no way that we could have navigated Tokyo's extensive public transit system without Akira. He was extremely knowledgable about everything we did on our tour His English comprehension was excellent and Akira went way above what we expected. He was warm, funny, approachable and caring. We are so glad we did this private tour. At one point, we accidentally left a package of souvenirs that we had purchased on one of the trains. Nothing was terribly valuable, but Akira insisted we put in a lost and found claim which we thought would be a waste of time. About 2 hours later AKira received a call from the public transportation people and they had found ... read more
Dear William, Thank you for the great review. I am so happy that you enjoyed the day. We had a great time with so many surprise, the lantern given by generous owner of restaurant where we had the best (!) tempura, good sake in Marunouchi, the lost and found claim, and the delay caused by train accident on the way back to your hotel. Yes, that was really exhausting day however, remembering what we had experience together on that day make me smile (hoping you feel the same way...) and I was so happy to witness the miracle happened to you on that day. It was like a well written movie, mixture of good things and bad things bring to the happy ending. I hope that you will have another chance to come back to my loving city for more adventure, discovery and another miracle perhaps. Sincer... read more
My husband and I loved our tour with Akira. He was friendly, knowledgeable, had great English and made our first day in Tokyo truly wonderful. He met us at our hotel, showed us how to navigate the subways. Taught us shrine etiquette, Japanese history and cultural “norms”. He also took us to an amazing lunch we wouldn’t have found on our own and a coffee shop that inspired Blue Bottle in the US. Book Akira! You won’t regret it. Truly a gem in Tokyo!
Dear Erin, Thank you so much for the great review. I’m so happy that your first full day in Tokyo was enjoyable one. I’m so happy that you finished everything that served when we had lunch! I can easily guess you and Andrew have had a great time since we said goodbye yesterday because of your happy and open-minded personality. Next time you should bring your father and I know he will love the old Toyota taxi in the city. Best wishes, Akira
One of the best guides we ever had. Very flexible and adjusted to us as the day went on. Knowledgeable about the Tokyo train system which made for very efficient days of touring. Would highly recommend to my own friends and family. Excellent English speaker.
Dear Oren and Terri, Thank you very much for the great review. It was my pleasure to be a guide for fantastic people like you visiting Japan for the first time. I was so glad to see you excited and surprised at everything you experienced in my loving city. I hope the time we shared will be remembered as a good introduction to Japan and I am pretty sure that there will be more fun and discovery during the rest of your stay in the country. Sincerely, Akira Nakashima
Akira is an excellent guide. He takes the time to make sure you get to do all you ask to do and will also make suggestions to enhance the experience based on his own knowledge. If you love sushi (real sushi) and you hire him make sure you request to go to the fish market near the Ginza. I wanted a good Japanese sushi meal but the location was his choice. The fish market was fascinating and I would never have known to go there. His choice of restaurant within the fish market was spot on. His English is also excellent and he is very good at conversation. Akira has no problem going above and beyond what is expected. I had a problem arise when I realized I left a package on the bus to my hotel. When I found out I did that I messaged him a couple of hours past the time that ... read more
Dear Pamela, Thank you very very much for the great review, and thank you very much for giving me opportunities to guide very unique places (Yes, that was so unique...!). It was such a nice experience for me to witness sparkles in your eyes any time you encounter what you love in each of our destination. Through the entire hours during the tour, having nice conversation on many things, you made me feel like having passion and young heart for the rest of my life. I hope the Tokyo trip this time was so special and memorable one for you. See you next time! Sincerely, Akira Nakashima
We asked Akira to guide my husband and I through our very first day in Japan which happened to be Tokyo. We asked Akira to show us the things that were a bit off the usual tourist route, that we wouldn't just find in a travel guide. He did an excellent job, taking us to regular suburbs and areas to show us some of his favourite areas and places to eat, as well as some of the popular highlights along the way. He helped us navigate the subway and JR Rail for the first time, and told us a lot about cultural expectations and norms that were very helpful throughout the rest of the trip. He seems like a genuinely nice guy and I would recommend him highly.
Dear Jennifer, Thank you so much for the great review. Its so nice to be seen as a nice guy by nice couple from down under. I am happy that you liked the day with me though the weather was relatively unpleasant. I think everything went good partly because of your happy vibe. The places we visited were not so famous area and some might feel that the areas have nothing special. However, many of their sceneries are something that is disappearing from the city today in fast pace. As a Tokyo local who miss such sceneries so much, I am very happy that you found a value in them. Thank you very much again for choosing me as a navigator of my loving city and hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Akira Nakashima
