“ Warm, knowledgable and accommodating ”

Kashima San hosted my wife, son and I on a days' tour of Tokyo. We had prearranged the itinerary to include some sites, some shopping and a museum. He met us at our hotel and talked us through the Tokyo Rail and Subway system which once you understand it is very efficient. We saw the Imperial Palace Bridges, Zozoji Temple (which is lovely), then we had time in Ginza including time in a quaint Japanese Print Shop Kashima San had identified for us. We finished in Shinjuku. Through out the day Kashima San let us take the time we wanted to see the sites, never rushing us, explaining the points of interest many you would miss without a guide. He also told us how to easily get to sights we wanted to see on the subsequent days We have no hesitation recommending Kashima San for yo... read more

Johnson san, Thank you very much for your detail and kind review for me by which I got lots of pleasure. I am pleased that you, your wife and your son (8 years old) enjoyed the tour a lot, specially you for the photos of various sight spots, your wife for watching various types of Kimono and shopping Japanese art prints (Ukiyoe paintings) in Ginza and your son to see tense Samurai play watching in Samurai museum. It was good for your wife to find lots of excellent Ukiyoe paintings and purchased them at S.WATANABE COLOR PRINT.Co. in Ginza. I hope that you also enjoyed your tour in Japan on following days. I am looking forward to supporting you again as a guide in the future. Thanks, Kashima

“ The Zen Temple in Arashiyama ”

I thought overall Kashima did a good job. At times, I struggled with understanding his English but we worked thru it. I was a little disappointed with the magnitude of the public transportation necessary to get to sites; and, at times Kashima was unsure of the correct subway or train line to take. It was a long, full day that was enjoyable but not sure I was recommended this particular itinerary and transportation approach to others.

Vikki san, Thank you very much for taking your time and writing useful review for me to improve in future. We visited Kyoto after picking you up at the cruise port in Osaka at 9am and escorted you back at the port by 5pm. The transportation between Osaka and Kyoto is by public transportation spending around 1hour and a half of one way. Within the time period, we visited Arashiyama area in Kyoto including Tenryuji temple, Bamboo forest, Togetsukyo-bridge(moon crossing). After that, we moved out from Arashiyama and visited Kinkakuji temple located north of Kyoto and moved to visit Fushimi Inari shrine located the south of Kyoto. Certainly, I could not well execute the time management to visit all of them with relaxed manner. I apologize that I forced you to rush to see the Fushimi Ina... read more

“ A Great Guide for a Great Trip ”

My groups’ tour with Kashima was chalk-full of information about all the sites we went to and was sprinkled with some current cultural facts in between. Kashima himself was considerate of our lesser-abled group members and even helped fix mistakes we made in regards to transportation. Overall a great tour guide, would recommend. Thanks Kashima for your patience with us.

Theresa san, Thank you very much for your great and utmost review for me. We could have a very pleasant tour during 8 days with all 16 people of you and your friends including one transportation day from Tokyo to Kyoto. You kindly reserved the service by Van transportation for 6 days. We felt as if our tour is a small size special group tour sandwiched among very big tour agency buses in large parking of each visiting spots. We visited Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Kyoto, Nara and Osaka which are completely linked with the transition of capital from ancient time-flame such as Asuka->Nara->Kyoto->Kamakura->Kyoto(again)->Osaka->Edo(Tokyo). Thanks to lots of questions about Japanese history and culture from all of your group members, I could explain well at the first time about the deep relatio... read more

“ Excellent! ”

Kashima-san was a very punctual and enthusiastic tour guide. He made an incredible effort to engage with the children and provided a detailed, printed itinerary. The itinerary included lots of information about visiting spots as well as an entertaining way of introducing some essential Japanese words. Kashima-san brought us to some very reasonable and good-quality restaurants and adapted the itinerary according to our interests. Would recommend to anyone with an interest in going off the beaten track and experiencing Japan with a local flavour.

Sarah san, Thank you very much for your detail review as great as any. I am very much pleased that you and your two daughters enjoyed one and a half days Tokyo tour and one day Kamakura tour. I am very much impressed that your twin daughters are very interested in both various traditional culture style in Japan and various Japanese souvenirs. As for traditional culture, we visited Meiji shrine, Asakusa/Sensoji temple, Ueno Toshogu shrine, Ueno Daibutsu for one and half days of Tokyo tour and Great Budda in Kotokuin-temple, Hase temple, Tsuruoka-Hachiman shrine in one day Kamakura tour. All these spots are deeply related with Japanese history such as Heian era, Kamakura-era, Edo-era , Meiji restoration ,how original Samurai had appeared in Japan related with the actual social status in ... read more

“ Sumo, Temples, Shrines and Geiko in Tokyo ”

Our family of 6 had an excellent and enriching tour with Kashima-san. One of the main reasons we wanted a guide in Tokyo was to help with arranging a tour of a sumo stable in Tokyo, many of which are weary of visitors. Despite this, Kashima-san managed to book a tour of the Hakkaku sumo stable. Ahead of the visit, Kashima-san sent us a summary of sumo wrestling and what we might expect to see in the training. And during the training, he explained the complex rituals and ranking of the sumo wrestlers. This made the sumo training a very interesting experience. After the tour of the stables, Kashima-san took us to the sumo museum which was also vey interesting and gave us some historical context to sumo. Overall, by the end of sumo tour we had a much deeper understanding and appreciation of s... read more

Steve san, Thank you very much for your detail grateful review for me. I am very much impressed that you, your wife and your four children all enjoyed and excited to see Japanese tradition and ritual Marshal art sport of Sumo. We could watch actual severe Sumo training for around 2 hours and a half by all sumo wrestlers in Hakkaku stable. I think all of you understood how sumo wrestlers are strong, tough with patient and courteous. Also, there are extremely bendy. I think that you all will improve the way of watching sumo by this experience. Also, I am pleased that you all are so interested in Japanese culture, history and religion of Shinto and Buddhism. I could exchange interesting conversation with you. I am looking forward to supporting you for your next trip in Japan. Thanks, Kash... read more
