Overview

Ueno is a distinguished place where we can see contrasts between tradition and modernity, and tranquility and vibrancy. We walk around in Ueno Park and drop in at several sites such as museums, a zoo, temples and shrines built for centuries ago.
Ame-Yoko, a retro street market, is a must place to enjoy various cuisines. Don’t miss it!

What to Expect

We stroll in Ueno Park and enjoy watching various scenes including nature and architectures. We visit several sites such as religious facilities and museums. Some of the buildings are designated as Japan’s Important Cultural Properties. For example, Ueno Toshogu Shrine, the Tokyo National Museum and the National Museum of Western Art are placed on our itinerary.

We can also appreciate various exhibits in the museums. At the Tokyo National Museum, which has Japan’s largest collection of more than 100,000 pieces of arts and artifacts including Japan’s representative works such as samurai sword and armor, ceramics, ukiyo-e and Buddhist sculptures.
The National Museum of Western Art, designed by a notable French architect Le Corbusier, is the only site placed on the World Cultural Heritage list in Tokyo. We can find the architectural features of the World Cultural Heritage site and see various Western sculptures and paintings, searching an influence of ukiyo-e, traditional Japanese woodblock printings, on the works of European impressionists such as Claude Monet.

After visiting Ueno Park, we will go to Yanaka, a residential area which retains traditional atmosphere of good old days of Tokyo.

This tour can be customized according to your request.
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

“ Excellent, knowledgeable guide ”

Aki was our guide for 3 days. He knows very well Tokyo and is able to guide through the main touristic attractions, as well as through places out of beaten path. One of his strong points is the ability to adjust an itinerary at short notice based on weather and tourists requests. His IPAD contains interesting information and pictures on various itineraries including historical information. We strongly recommend him.t

“ One day tour of Nikko ”

Aki met the group at Keio Hotel, Shinjuku and proceeded to the train station which Aki got our train tickets to go to Kikko.. Aki was very informative and the group enjoyed the information that he provided to the group. He was very knowledgeable of the area. The group really enjoyed him. He was very considerate and answered the questions the group had. If we take another I will surely ask for Aki. Sorry for not getting back sooner, was trying to catchup sleep and taking of things before the news year. Happy New Year , Sanford Haseyama

“ Tokyo in a nutshell ”

I highly recommend Aki as a tour guide. 😀 Even with the limited time we had in Tokyo, he was able to introduce us to all the important sights in Tokyo (Tsukiji Market, Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, Omote-sando & Harajuku). We didn’t go to Shibuya anymore because we already went the night before our tour. He also brought us to a very nice ramen restaurant for lunch. We all loved the broth of the ramen. He was very organized (mapped out a very logical itinerary for us), courteous and patient (specially since we had hard-to-handle kids and we were late in meeting him at the start of the tour), thoughtful (he even gave us a very nice and heartwarming token gift to greet the new year), considerate (always thought about our convenience by looking for elevator/escalator options, specially ... read more

“ Peaceful Tokyo ”

It was my first day in Japan, and after a mind-numbing flight I asked my guide Aki for the chance to have a calm and peaceful day, plus an opportunity to learn about culture and how to get around. It was excellent. Began the morning in a temple observing a ceremony. Visited quiet parks, temples and smaller museums. Yes, we had some busy areas but overall it was a calm and beautiful day.

Aki:

Dear Ken, Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful review! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed a tour of peaceful places in Tokyo. I enjoyed talking with you while touring. “ Mt. Fuji: A Trip of a Lifetime ”

Aki is immensely a kind, caring and knowledgeable guide. He speaks English fluently. He made everything comfortable for our family from arranging the bus booking in advance for us to fetching us to our hotel going to Mt. Fuji. He also provided me with the weather update at Mt. Fuji so we would could prepare well for everything. Best of all, Aki made our Mt. Fuji tour priceless! The itinerary he arranged for us was great, from our cruising on the Lake Kawaguchiko to the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway and our relaxing walk around Oishi Park. Even our lunch in one of the restaurants in Oishi Park was really delectable. In the evening when we returned back to Shinjuku, Aki still assisted us even if it was past his schedule with us. We were asking him of the direction going to one shopping... read more
