What to Expect

Tokyo has a lot of attractions!! However, it may be difficult for international tourists to look around the city for a limited amount of time on their own. This tour is designed for first-timers to see some of the most popular tourist spots effectively within several hours.

I will take you to some of my best, favorite places in Tokyo, such as the lively Tsukiji Fish Market, the old temple Sensoji, Mecca of fashion Harajuku, and breathtaking city view from Tokyo Tower....etc. On the tour you can absorb various aspects of old and modern culture in Tokyo in just one day.
After the tour, you will get to know the overview of the transportation systems in Tokyo. That will help you to look around the city on your own for the rest of your stay.

*The itinerary can be changed according to your interest or preference.

“ Fantastic tour and very responsive to our needs ”

Riko provided an excellent experience for our first time in Tokyo. She communicated with us ahead of time by email to finalize details. She was very conscientious about asking us what our interests were at the beginning of the tour and went out of her way to meet those needs throughout the day. She provided a great deal of information about Tokyo and each of the sites we visited. We even enjoyed our lunch together and learned so much about the food and customs. It was a truly memorable day. I highly recommend her as a tour guide. You won't be disappointed.

“ Excellent day tour of Tokyo ”

Riko was a fantastic guide for the day, spoke excellent English and organised a diverse and interesting itinerary for our tour of Tokyo. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed the day and I would not hesitate to recommend Riko to others.

“ Tokyo Customized! ”

When travelling with a jet-lagged teenager, keeping their interest is difficult. However, Riko did just that throughout her site packed day tour (Tokyo Tower, Owl petting, Akihabara, Shrines, and more)! She has a wealth of historical/local knowledge and quick on tips and tricks to navigating Tokyo and Japan when on your own. Our day with her was one of the best things about Japan, according to my nephew (and me). Thank you,Riko!

“ Amazing tour guide!!! ”

As this was my family's first trip to Japan I decided at the last minute to hire a tour guide to help acclimate us to the city. The house we were renting was off the beaten path and somewhat hard to find. I was concerned how we were going to hook up her. Riki was great from the beginning when she came and picked us up to start our tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about everything you could possibly want to know, showed us how to use the subway and how to get around, was very flexible and amazingly energetic. The tour we took was for eight hours and she had a list of the sights that she thought we would enjoy. From shrines to the fish market to a department store and so so much more. We could have done only her one day tour and I would have felt we had taken in the flavor of what Tokyo is. Yet even with what she had planned when my boys wanted to go shopping in some one of a kind clothing stores she knew where they were and took them around until they went everywhere they wanted to go. We also stopped and spent probably an hour at a festival that was occurring on the street. She was fun and made the trip very enjoyable. At the end of the tour she took us all the way back home! I cannot recommend her highly enough!! Thank you again Riko!

“ Tokyo tour--full day ”

We had a wonderful time with Riko. She is an awesome guide and spoke excellent English. Our day was busy and we saw many great sights. We happen to be at the temple when they were having a celebration with geisha performers present and at the shrine--they had a children's kabuki show! We were even lucky enough to see 1 cherry blossom tree with a few blooms :) One of the highlights was going to Tsukiji market and tasting/buying the different foods--one of the few places in Tokyo where it's okay to eat while you're walking. Riko was very patient with helping us to navigate the busy subways--she made sure we were able to keep up with her and also gave us ideas on what to do on our own the following day. I would highly recommend her tours and will definitely try to book her again if we're in Tokyo in the future.

“ Exceptional! ”

Rico did a fabulous job of tailoring our tour-- she gave us a flavor of Tokyo old and new, highlights of Japanese history and culture, answered our endless questions, taught us how to use public transportation, and gave us suggestions for the rest of our stay. Invaluable and the perfect introduction to Japan and Tokyo. We hope we get a chance to tour with her again!

“ One day Tokyo visit by three friends ”

Riko was a charming, informative and diligent guide. She managed to fit in a lot of sights but also gave us lots of insights and answered our many questions. She also tailored our tour to include some of our requests and found us a delightful restaurant for lunch. We all thought Riko was terrific and will recommend her to friends visiting Tokyo.

“ Excellent Guide + Excellent Tour ”

Riko is spectacular. I've been working for a large online travel agency in the world and have taken many organized tours and had many tour guides. Riko was one of the best I've come across. She meant us on-time at the lobby of the hotel. She took us to the designated site seeing locations quickly and efficiently. She taught us how to navigate the subway system in Tokyo. As the tour went, she explained all the details of Japanese culture all the way down to the identifying local fruit and products uniquely Japanese. She took us to a great restaurant for lunch where the locals eat. She took us to all the designated sites in the itinerary on-time with plenty of time to do what we want on each. She mentioned that the tour was flexible given it is private but the way it was laid out was perfect in my opinion. Finally, she led us all the way back a block from our hotel so we can have dinner before ending the tour. Interestingly, while on tour, a couple (a complete stranger but fellow tourist from Canada) who was at the Tsukiji fish market the same time as us (this couple booked a tour bus group) asked me if Riko was a relative or friend because she overheard her explaining all the intricate details of the market (including explaining all the unique Japanese items we saw) and I told this couple that she's a private guide. This fellow traveler told me she would have gladly paid Riko for a private tour than being stuck in a bus tour with dozens of other tourist with hardly any personal service like what Riko provided us. I wholeheartedly agree. This is the way to go. I argue that if you were a couple like us, I would gladly do this private tour guide way over and over again. Riko spoke perfect English and her insights into the city and culture made our first trip to Tokyo just perfect. I do plan to Tokyo again next year and hope to call on Riko again to take me to another part of Tokyo.

“ Look no further! Choose this tour guide! ”

Riko is a lovely Japanese woman who is very easy to understand, relaxed and knows about Japan in great detail. On our personal tour (Riko's Best Spots of Tokyo (8h)), Riko was super flexible and would change the day's agenda based on what we were interested in seeing. She provided great tips on how to survive in Japan; such as how to buy train tickets and the difference between the red and blue labels at vending machines. Her knowledge on the history of Japan is excellent and she shared it with us like a good story. She is also very contemporary, knowing about how the Japanese people and culture exists today; and she also shared this with us as part of the tour (I personally really liked Akihabara and the otaku culture there). Tokyo is a great city and I very much look forward to visiting again. Thanks Riko!

“ Riko's Best Spots in Tokyo ”

We instantly took a liking to Riko the moment we met. She met us early and off we went. Touring Tokyo by train and subway was a new experience for us and it gave us a glimpse into life in this busy city. We saw all the major sites and got to tailor the tour for our interests. There is quite a bit of walking and stairs on the route; we're in our 60's and pretty fit so we had no problems with the pace. Riko's English is excellent and she described lots of interesting events and items along the way. An excellent day. Martin and Cindy Siegen Mexico

Riko was a fantastic guide for a first time traveler to Tokyo. He English was great and she was a delight to converse with. He knowledge and insight into Tokyo and Japanese history and culture made the day go well beyond a simple sight-see excursion. I cannot recommend her services enough: Well worth every Yen.

Riko was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and helpful as well as accomodating. She showed us just about all of the key places in Tokyo that we could never have seen in the time span we did on our own without her. I highly recommend Riko and would not hesitate to use her again. We had a great day with Riko as our guide. She speaks good English and is professional and very knowledgeable. The tour was well planned and she was very accommodating and allowed us to move at our own pace. She also helped us with subway directions so that we could get around on our own for the rest of our stay in Tokyo. We highly recommend her.

We were able to customize our itinerary on the fly depending on time. Even after purchasing train day pass we walked over 10 miles, we wanted a walking tour. Riko was a great guide, so much facts. Her English is superb, best of all the tour guides during our stay in Japan. Definitely recommend her.

Riko was an excellent tour guide who led us on a fantastic adventure throughout Tokyo. For many of us, her tour was actually the highlight of the trip with the many memorable experiences all in a single day. She allowed us to customize the places we wanted to see and we kept a good pace in order to ensure visiting all the locales. She greatly assisted us in familiarizing ourselves with the subway system, as well as provided us with information on places we could see on our own later (as well as instructions on how to return to shopping areas we had already visited). Her sushi restaurant selection was also fantastic with the food being fresh and delicious. I highly recommend taking her tour should you ever decide to visit Tokyo. Thank you Riko!

Riko was a fantastic guide serving as both a private tour guide for a day in Tokyo and also for 4 of us doing Riko's Best of Tokyo tour on separate days. Riko was knowledgeable, considerate of my comfort and stamina and great about corresponding with me via email prior to my arrival in Japan to develop an itinerary for my private tour in order to include all of the sites I most wanted to see given time and distance between places so it was a manageable day's outing. I can not praise Riko enough for the fantastic guiding services she provided for enjoyment doing it all with efficiency and economy. She is professional, arrived a head of time and was waiting in my hotel lobby and showed me a fantastic very local, authentic restaurant with unbelievable views of the vastness of Tokyo and the meal was so reasonable thus avoiding spending a King's ransom for the guidebooks suggestion of very expensive dining choices with a view. It was both her consideration for my budget and her ability to suggest experiences and places I hadn't even considered seeing based on our pre-trip exchange of emails. Anyone using Riko as a guide will be in for an incredible experience in Japan.

Riko was an excellent tour guide. My daughter and I learned so much more about the sites of Tokyo and about Japanese culture and customs than we could have touring on our own. Her one day tour of Tokyo is a speedy, but it gave us a good overview of multiple areas of the city in just eight hours. Thanks, Riko, for a great tour!

1 year ago |   by Conrado

The tour was well organized covering in one day (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM) most attractions in Tokyo. She is a very nice and knowledgeable lady with fluent English. It is a walking tour traveling through the subway at your on pace, there is no rush but the faster you go the more you will see of Tokyo. She lets you stop for souvenir shopping and is always available to answer questions and take photos of the group. She will take you to lunch at a typical restaurant of your choosing. Great way to see Tokyo in a single day. Wear confortable shoes.

It is impressive to see how involved we got with Tokyo best sites and its culture in one day tour, Riko is a very professional and dynamic guide that is always looking to be adapted to your own needs as a client. We hardly recommend Riko, she is the best.

Riko was a pleasure to do my tour with although it was down pouring almost the entire day. She's very professional and was has a wealth of information with regards to Tokyo. To those interested not just in seeing the attractions of Tokyo but also learning about them in depth (history included), she's a terrific choice. Riko was very considerate of my interests and also flexible with the schedule. Book a tour with Riko and you're no doubt guaranteed a fantastic time. Thanks again for the fantastic and memorable day in Tokyo, Noriko :-)

We did Tokyo High spots tour with Rikko and where surprised how many attractions we could see, even though it was Holiday and streets were crowded, we spent all time with interesting explanations and went to have lunch to a funny tecno sushi, my kids of 13 and 8 years old were astonished, sometimes tours with kids can be difficult to handle but we were completely delighted with routes and sites. I definitive recommend Rikko, she is very profesional.
