In Asakusa, you understand the temple's history and how Buddhism live in the Japanese people's life. Buddhism was born in ancient India and it became popular in China and it was introduced to Japan in 538. In Japan, great Buddhism leaders were born such as Kukai, Dogen, Saichou, Shinran and Nichiren. Japanese people absorbed and transformed the original Buddhism well into Japanese style Buddhism. Many sects were established, including Sotoshu-sect, Nichirenshu-sect and Tendaishu-sect. These sects are popular at present in Japan.
