What to Expect

A half day tour in Tokyo for a family who has small children or teenagers. For your children’s knowledge, we will visit a shrine, Meiji Jingu Shrine or a temple, Asakusa Sensoji Temple. I will explain the overview of Japanese history. Then, we will visit one of the activities. These activities provide creative, exploratory, and social opportunities so that children can extend themselves in areas that are informal, unusual, and fun.
During this tour, I will give some questions to your children. To answer the questions, they try to listen to my explanation carefully. To give them chances to see and experience the foreign culture is very valuable things to do. Children’s potential is beyond our imagination.

“ Kid-Friendly Tour ”

Mari took us to Sensoji temples, Nakamise arcade, and a display-food making workshop on Asakusa. We had a great time with her. Mari taught the kids some basic Japanese language and explained the history and culture of the sites we visited in a way that was interesting and easy for them to follow. The display-food making workshop, which Mari pre-booked and organized for us was excellent, and the staff and other participants there were so friendly and helpful. Mari even showed the kids some origami techniques to pass the time on the subway. We’d definitely recommend this tour for other families!

Thank you very much for your wonderful message. Your review encouraged me as a tour guide. I really enjoyed guiding your family and helping your display-food making workshop which was fun. I was impressed your daughters were adorable and quick learners for Japanese language. I still remember their cute smiles like angles. I hope you will enjoy the rest of your journey in Japan and I hope to see you again when you visit Japan next time. With thanks

“ Great two days with Mari ”

Mari was very informative and took us on the first day to places that I don't think we would have discovered by ourselves. It is clear she loves Japan and loves showing tourist around Tokyo! She put up with our diversions to shopping areas and helped us in our purchases. On day two she even brought her own device to help make wasabi for our sushi! I think the only barrier was language. At times we had difficulty understanding her, but her kindness and enthusiasm made up for it! Thanks Mari!

Dear Sybil, Thank you very much for your review. I also enjoyed to guide your family who are very kind and intelligent. I hope you had wonderful experience in Japan. Best regards,

“ Friendly and well pprepared ”

This is a fantastic tour, especially if you are a first time visitor to Japan. Mari is very organised, she had pamphlets printed out with information for us. Mari was in contact with us before the tour and even left a note at our hotel to welcome us! The outer fish markets were fascinating and Mari explained everything to us. She also gave us information and showed us a video of an auction at the inner fish market. The sushi making was very informative and a lot of fun. Our sushi chef was very enthusiastic and helpful. Everything we made was delicious, as was the tempura the restaurant provided. Mari was extremely patient with our two sons, and helped our youngest with making sushi. She gave them an origami kit and made ninja stars for them, which they loved. We highly recommend this tour! read more

Dear Jason, Thank you very much for your wonderful review. I also enjoyed the tour. All members of your family are sweet and friendly, especially both of your sons are adorable. Your sons are smart enough to answer all my questions. I am glad to know that your sons loved Origami Ninja stars. When you visit Japan again, I would like to guide you again. Warmest regards,

“ Finding our way ”

Mari was very well prepared. She had spent a lot of time before we met communicating with me, making sure we knew what to expect to ensure we had a good morning with her. She helped us navigate the subway system, buy IC cards and explained the backgrounds to the places we visited. We enjoyed the Tsukiji markets, with Mari showing us the different grades of tuna and many of the different flavours of the food on offer. Unfortunately we did not get to see the sumo wrestling practice because they had finished their practice early due to the competition - that would have really capped off the morning. It was through no fault of Mari’s that this happened and she took us to Ginza to make up for it.

Thank you very much for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed my tour. I was impressed both of you are very knowledgeable about Japanese culture and your questions are insightful. I am sorry that we couldn’t see sumo. I have taken Sumo practice more than ten times, but this is the first time it happened. I hope all your family will enjoy skiing at Myoko near Nagano.

“ Tour of NEW Toyosu Fish Market ”

We met with Mari at 5am (early!) to visit the newly opened Toyosu Fish Market. This was still a new tour for Mari and it was a little bareboned because of the holidays, but she was amazing at explaining how the market worked and perfectly described the energy and magic behind the marketplace. Her English was excellent and she was enthusiastic. And she went out of her way to find us a great place to have early morning sushi at Toyosu! I would highly recommend Mari for this and any of there other tours in Tokyo and the surrounding areas.

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. I really enjoyed guiding your family. All of your family members are friendly and great, especially you and your mother. I was impressed that ten members of your family travel together for two weeks. It’s fantastic. With our Toyosu experience, I decided to make a new tour called Tsukiji Tuna Auction tour. Thank you for everything. With warm regards,
