What to Expect

In this tour, you can visit four most attractive touring spots combining beautiful nature, Japanese food culture and enjoyable Japanese old and modern parts.
Firstly,we'll visit Tsukiji Fish Market which is the largest marine product market in Japan. It consists of two main areas-the inner market and the outer market. We will go to both markets. The inner market is the wholesale market for the professionals where about 480 kinds of marine products are traded. You can meet various kinds of fish and shellfish like tuna, eel, octopus, sea urchin and more! There are about 800 small family-run retail shops in the inner market, each shop has own specialty selling tuna, eel and so on. So you can see not only merchandises but also workers, shops, and the human interactions in Tsukiji. Inside market, intricate narrow streets are like a maze but I'll take you anywhere you're interested in safely. (Tsukiji Inner market will allow to get in maximum 5 people including a guide. If your group is over 5 people, I'll take you only the Outer market.)
At the outer market, there are about 400 retail shops which are open to the public. Almost all kinds of Japanese ingredients and foods can be found here. This is like a kitchen of Japanese cuisine. You can enjoy buying Japanese food, seasonings, tea, knives, dishware, wrapping goods and so on.

Next, we'll walk to Hamarikyu garden (10 minutes). It is a high class Japanese garden in Tokyo which has about 340- year history. It's used as a detached residence of Tokugawa shogun's family in the Edo era and a guesthouse for foreign diplomats and royal families in the Meiji era. In February 2015, Prince William (England) visited this garden and experienced the tea ceremony. One of the greatest thing is that you can drink finely powdered green tea and a seasonal Japanese confectionery in the tea house which is located in the middle of the pond. Shoguns, ladies and Imperial Court nobles enjoyed the view from here. Why don't you enjoy the tea and sweet while send your thoughts back in time to these eras.

After that, we will enjoy a water bus cruise from Hamarikyu Garden to Asaksua. It takes about 1 hour ride.

Asakusa, it preserves the old atmosphere of Edo era and it's a vivid town. On the way to Sensoji temple, we can enjoy shopping at Nakamise shopping street. It's very fun to see so many kinds of traditional crafts, sweets and souvenirs. Sweets like a small pancake stuffed with red bean paste and rice crackers are famous here. There are several specialized Kimono shops in this area. If you're interested in some particular shops like Kimono, Japanese folding fan or hand towels, I can take you these shops.

At last, we will visit Akihabara where you can feel totally different atmosphere from Asakusa. We'll discover why Japanese subculture attracts so many people and let's see more about anime, manga and games in Akihabara.

If you have any questions or requests, please send me a message. I'll reply as soon as possible.

*As Tsukiji Inner market will be closed and the new market will be opened in Toyosu in 2018, the tour itinerary will be changed after that.

I'd like to make your trip a real pleasant one. I 'm really looking forward to meeting you in my tour!
Thank you, Arigatou!

“ Tokyo with my grandson. ”

We spent four day in Tokyo with Yukiko. This was my first solo trip with my 11 year old grandson. Yukiko came up with an excellent itinerary for him. Everything she suggested was a hit. We visited the Imperial Palace and Asakusa. Highlights were the Ninja experience and the Sushi lessons. Asimo was also a hit with Seb. She picked the perfect day to visit Hakone and we were able to enjoy the splendor of Mt. Fuji. Her scheduling allowed us time to spend together exploring Shinjuku and the areas nearby. This was truly a memorable, worry free trip and I have Yukiko to thank.

“ Tokyo highlights, food and shopping.. ”

Yukiko was very well organised and interesting. She has a great knowledge of Japan and the history of areas and their development was facinating. We come from a country with a breif non indigenous history so it was good to be able to hear about thousands of years of culture and history. We were able to do everything we had hoped for and more. Thank you.

“ A Great Day in Tokyo ”

I booked an all day, English guided walking tour with Yukiko through Triplelights. I must say the experience from the booking, to the scheduling, and communication was fantastic. Yukiko and I communicated through the Triplelights website up until a few days before the tour to ensure our tour was planned perfectly. On the tour day, Yukiko met my sister and I promptly at our hotel lobby. The tour was customized to our liking, and although we had some bad weather in the morning the tour was still perfect. We did a lot of walking, took the subway, and also utilized taxi service. We started at the museum which gave us a 360 degree look into Japan then and now, progressed to see temples and shrines, explored the fish market where we had the best meal of our trip, immersed ourselves in the pop culture of Harajuku, and explored Shibuya crossing. A truly memorable day, we couldn’t ask for anything more. Thank you Yukiko.

“ Excellent Guide for families ”

Yukiko made excellent suggestions for places for us to visit with our 2 boys (age 13 and 7). We visited Tsukiji market, Honda Welcome centre, Samaurai Museum, Ninja Trick House and the shops of Tokyo Station. She was very helpful in showing us how to navigate Tokyo using the train system and made us feel very welcome. On our return visit we would definitely use her services again and would recommend her to anyone who wanted a guide to help them navigate Tokyo and see things you may not ordinarily see. Mervin M
