What to Expect

This tour can be held for single to four people.
In this tour you will take a short trip to Shibamata where you can experience more traditional side of tokyo.
To get to Shibamata, it will take approximately 1 hour from central Tokyo.

There is a very famous old Japanese movie called "Otoko wa tsurai yo"
meaning it's tough to being a dude directed by Yoji Yamada.
Because the main character is from Shibamata, this area became more popular after this movie broadcasted.

Shibamata is small area but there are many things to see.
You will walk down the main shopping street called Taishakuten-Sando.
Along this street you will see many Japanese food shops such as rice clackers, Japanese pickles,
Yakitori(grilled chicken skewered with bamboo stick) and so on.

At the end of the street you will see a huge wooden architecture.
It is a main gate to the Taishakuten Temple. I will take you to the main temple and
wooden sculpture gallery after the gate.

After that we will visit Yamamoto-tei where you can see a beautiful traditional Japanese garden.
We will enjoy green tea there.

“ Tokyo for the first time ”

I did enough research to learn that it took a bit of time to pair up with an English speaking local around my age since I wanted to do a combination of touristy & local spots that I was interested in + private tour for a single traveler. So glad I found Lisa thru TripleLights! She has a flair of trying to get to know her clients well enough to try to tailor her tour to their liking as much as possible. I booked a full day & half-day (night tour) with Lisa. Worth the cost for both. Enjoyed every bit of it.

“ Kyoto Highlights ”

Lisa was Awesome!!!! We are a family of 7; including a grandma and 3 children ages 13,11, and 6. She speaks excellent English, extremely kind and thoughtful, and hard working throughout in making sure we are comfortable and flexible with the itinerary. She explained the history and architecture of the different places we went, and taught us much about the Japanese culture. Having Lisa with us enriched our experience and she took care of us with all the ticketing and introduced us to different places to eat and made sure I would be okay with my food allergies. She has a friendly and warm personality so we liked her instantly. She bonded with all is us. Everyone in our group loved having Lisa, and we are sad to have to say goodbye! These are the places we went to: Tokyo Disney Sea, Shinkansen ride to / from Kyoto, Kyoto Golden Pavilion, Nishiki Market, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Tenruji Temple, Arashiyama River/Bridge, shopping/dining at Isetan department store. Toei Movie Studios park. We had an amazing time and having Lisa made all the difference! We highly recommend Lisa to all!!! Next time we go to Japan, or any of our family and friends, we will tell them to book with Lisa!

Thank you so much for your review. I had great time with you all. Everyday I couldn't wait to see you when I was going to pick you up at hotel. Your family was like one team, getting along well, sharing happy thoughts, always trying to find the best way for each other and taking care of each other so much. Spending time with you made me feel like "Oh. This is like my ideal future family!" I couldn't be happier to be part of your memorial family trip to Japan. Definitely will visit you soon. Please keep in touch:)

“ Super Awesome Tokyo Tour with Lisa ”

This was my first visit to Tokyo. Thanks to Triple lights I found Lisa....She is exceptional in her knowledge about the places. I had booked the half day tour, with very little time I had to see the city, Lisa was great in covering all the places. She is very accommodating, helpful and caring. She helped me with my train tickets, helping me get the right vegetarian food, clicking pictures for me. She even escorted me to train station for catching the airport express. As I was traveling alone I wanted a female guide...Lisa was THE BEST...she will not waste a minute of yours and will guide you to the best places...I highly recommend using her services for future trips as well...Thank you Lisa you were just SUPER AWESOME....hugs to you...

Hi Tina, thank you for writing the great review. I admired your spirits to explore unknown city even though your time was limited. I'm glad that you could have good time here in Tokyo and I could be part of it:) We went to Harajuku, Meiji shrine and Asakusa... Especially chanting part was new to me too. Oh and you liked that Japanese fried curry bread right :) Thank you for the chocolate cake you shared at Nippori station while we were waiting for the train. Please keep in touch and I am looking forward to seeing you again.

“ Tours: Dec. 3, Dec. 4, Dec. 10, & Dec. 11 ”

Guide Lisa knows much about Japan's history, and that translates into an easy rapport when questions are asked. Although "new" to the business, her friendly nature and fluency in English help 'gaijin' appreciate Japan's many wonders. She'll adjust a tour's pace to fit the needs of elderly clients, even if younger members of the group rush ahead. She can miraculously find where hidden elevators and escalators are within stations, and places to rest (most stores do not provide seats). She'll even hand you a handkerchief when you exit the restroom with wet hands (most stores do not provide paper towels). A good Guide is not just someone who knows a lot about Tokyo; a good Guide is someone who is sure to have her clients facing the right direction. Our family was delighted to have had Lisa show us around the city of Tokyo for 4 tours. We shall miss her warmth and sincerity, and magnetic personality.

Hi Henry, thank you very much for letting me conduct these 4 tours. We have been discussed about your tour plans since August exchanging a lot of emails. So I was very happy when I finally saw you in parson. You can not imagine how I was impressed to see that you tried to visit your old friend all the way to Osaka and you made it. I am so glad that I could help you this time. Also thanks to Dan and Nicole, I recognized the market potential for the cat-lovers who are visiting Tokyo! Please keep in touch and be my guide when I visit Hawaii for the first time.

“ Lisa is great! ”

I have worked with a number of different guides in Japan, all of them excellent, but Lisa was the best! Her English is excellent, and she is extremely knowledgable and thoughtful. I couldn't have asked for more. Although she looks quite young, she actually has many years experience guiding professionally and as a volunteer, and it showed in every facet of her work! Couldn't have been better.

Hi Adam! Thank you very much for your beautiful review. I had great time with you visiting a lot of museums and aquarium. Even though it was short time, I had learned a lot from you because you are surprisingly knowledgeable about many things. Especially your attitude towards life and business impressed me a lot. If you have any further questions about Tokyo/Japan feel free to contact me anytime!
