1. Hama-rikyu Garden
Hama-rikyu Garden is a large Japanese garden located by the Tokyo Bay. It is the strolling landscape garden that features paths around ponds, and a tea house on an island where visitors can rest and enjoy the scenery. A peony garden, plum tree grove and cosmos fields have flowers for every season.
Walking slowly in the quiet and beautiful garden while seeing various flowers and plants is very refreshing. After strolling for a while, it is a good idea to rest at the tea house that offers green tea and Japanese sweets in a tea-ceremony style.
It was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period (1603-1867). It was used as a guesthouse for foreign diplomats and royal families in the Meiji era. In February 2015, Prince William of England visited this garden and experienced the tea ceremony.
2. Sumida River Cruise
From Hama-rikyu garden to Asakusa, we cruise along the Sumida river. The Sumida River Cruise is popular for those who wish to breathe in the fresh air while riding around the city by a large boat. You can relax and enjoy beautiful sceneries including 12 bridges, the Tokyo Sky-Tree, water front buildings, and traditional neighborhoods of old Tokyo.
It takes about one hour from Hamarikyu garden to Asakusa via Hinode pier.
Asakusa is one of the must-see-spots of Tokyo having a historical atmosphere.
One of the landmarks of Asakusa is “Kaminari-mon Gate” of the Sensoji temple which is the largest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. A huge red lantern is hung in the center of the gate. Two fearsome guardian gods of thunder and wind are installed at the gate to ward off evil spirits.
The street between the gate and the Main Hall of the temple is called Nakamise shopping arcade. It is the ideal place to see local snacks and souvenirs, such as folding fans, inexpensive kimonos, traditional toys, paper umbrellas, figures of beckoning cats, and more. At the end of the arcade, there are beautiful temple structures including the main gate, the Main Hall, and a tall five-storied pagoda.
Around the Sensoji temple, there are many kinds of restaurants including Japanese food and western food. You can rest and have Japanese food or western food there.

Eddy was an absolute joy as a guide. We had a very unique request, of going to the Tokyo area flood control system, a huge underground cavern used to protect outer Tokyo. He gladly accepted such a unique tour. My wife an I were really surprised and pleased to see he even faxed our hotel to make sure we knew where to meet him! He also filled our long train rides with all kinds of fun activities, like learning about Japanese writing, history, and important phrases. Over lunch, he even taught us how to make oragami! He was very kind and patient, and we had a wonderful time. Thank you so much Eddy!
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. I was pleased to guide you, a nice young couple from US. I hope you will enjoy the rest of your honeymoon in Japan. Eddy
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Eddy who not only showed us what was described on the itinerary like the Castle Museum , the Shinto Shrine and the shopping centre (where we bought excellent sashimi at ridiculous low price) but also enlightened us on Japanese culture. He showed us the correct ways to pray at the Shinto Shrine for example which was interesting. As it was our first time navigating the public train and bus system his patience and guidance was invaluable especially if we plan to travel further in Japan. Travelling with a local really broadens the experience.
Dear Chun and Gwen, Thank you so much for the warm review. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour with me. I hope you will come back to Japan again soon. Best regards, Eddy
We have been privileged to travel the world and have had many guides. Eddy will forever stand out as the best tour guide. He was so informative, kind, and it felt like you were spending the day with a relative. We learned so much about the Japanese culture. He packed in a FULL day so that we could see everything we had asked to see. He was extremely organized, and all we had to do was just enjoy the tours. His English is excellent. I would highly recommend Eddy.
Dear Lisa and Steve, Thank you so much for the kind review. I am very happy to hear your words. Although the weather was not very good, we visited many popular spots in Tokyo and saw unique culture. It was good that you got good luck with a sacred lot at Sensoji temple in Asakusa. I also felt lucky to talk with a lovely couple and to learn how to enjoy life. Thank you again and please enjoy your tour in Hakone and Kyoto soon. Eddy.
Excellent guide, very informative tour with historical background.
Dear Gaby, Thank you very much for your good review. I think that you came to Tokyo at the best time to see cherry blossoms. I hope that you and your mother made good memories in Japan. And I hope that I will visit Stuttgart, Benz und Porsche Town, in the future. Auf Wiedersehen Eddy
It was a pleasure to meet Eddy and learn more about Japanese culture and the area of Chiba. I appreciated his local knowledge and he paced my morning tour well as I had only just arrived in Chiba the previous day.
Dear Jacqui, Thank you for writing such a nice review of my tour so soon. I am very glad you enjoyed the tour. I hope you will come back to Japan again. Best regards, Eddy
