Overview

Take a tiny tram of Setagayasen and visit fascinating places such as Lucky Cat Temple with countless ceramic cats, a local governor's mansion from samurai period, etc. Stroll around a shopping mall where old shops and modern cafes stand side by side. This tour shows you both traditional temples/shrines and how Japanese shop and dine in their local community.

What to Expect

This tour visits various spots along the Setagaya Line, trams that run at 18km per hour through a residential area just west of Shibuya. With a one-day ticket of just 330 yen, you can get on and off the tram at any station as much as you like.
Gotokuji - a buddhist temple known as Lucky Cat Temple; the highlight of this tour. Countless ceramic cats will welcome you.
Daikan Yashiki - a mansion of a powerful farmer family commissioned to govern the area by a feudal lord. Here you can have a chance to glimpse a traditional Japanese house.
Shoin Jinja - a shinto shrine dedicated to a great samurai intellectual at the end of samurai period who educated youngsters, many of whom later became important figures of a government of modern Japan.
Shoin Jinja shopping mall - stroll around a shopping mall which is a mixture of old and new. Buy a yummy croquet from a meat shop, try sweet fermented rice drink at an amazingly small shop or chat with a very friendly shopkeeper of a candy/snack shop - it's fun to explore this place!
Karasuyamagawa Ryokudo - take a leisurely walk along a walking trail that runs among houses. Can you imagine it was once a small river?
