What to Expect
Chofu is located to the west of Tokyo, in a suburban area. Though the city is quite accessible from metropolitan area of Tokyo, it has many attractive spots with full of nature.
I'll meet you at Chofu station. It takes 20 minutes if you take Keio-line from Shinjuku station.
First we’ll go to local old shrine, Fudaten shrine. It is located in a residential area, but surrounded by many trees. I’m sure you can feel the serenity inside the precincts.
After that, we’ll walk to the Nogawa river. Along the river you can enjoy a lovely scenery especially in early April, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
Then we’ll go to Jindaiji temple, the second oldest temple in Tokyo. The area is surrounded by nature, and the area is famous for many soba restaurants.
After visiting Jindaiji temple, let’s enjoy soba lunch.
If you are interested in seeing flowers and trees, then I can guide you in the Jindai Botanical Garden, which is close to Jindaiji temple, extending by 1 hour.
Jindai Botanical Garden has many flowers and trees, famous for its variety of roses. In May and October, you can see a lot of beautiful roses in the garden.
And also the garden is recommended in autumn, when the colors of many leaves turn to be red and yellow. It’s really beautiful.
Total walking time of this tour is for about 1 hour (From Chofu station to the final destination, Jindaiji temple).
If you are tired after strolling, then you can take a bus on your return from Jindaiji temple to Chofu station.
But if you’d like to walk, then let’s go back to Chofu station on foot. It takes about 30 minutes.
I believe you will be refreshed and comfortable.
