Overview

Tsukiji fish market is the world largest fish market, and its wide variety of products always attract us. Let's jump into a bustle of the market sampling and shopping. After lunch in a sushi restaurant, let us go to the Hamarikyu garden, the former villa of the shogun in the feudal ages enjoying seasonal flowers feeling the sea breeze.

What to Expect

Starting from the outer market of Tsukiji, we wander around sampling various kinds of foods, from Japanese omelette to simmered seafood. And we visit the inner market (if you like) taking a peep at a variety of fish and skilled manners of middlemen of filleting fish (up to September 29). After having lunch in a sushi restaurant in or near the market, let us wander around the Hamarikyu garden enjoying seasonal flowers. If you would like to enjoy a river cruise, you can hop on a water bus to Asakusa, the Hinode peer, or Odaiba. You can book another half day tour in Asakusa or Odaiba.
You can visit Ginza or Nijubashi bridge of the Imperial Palace instead of Hamarikyu Garden.

“ Spending a wonderful first day in Japan with Rieko ”

My husband and I had a couple of days in Japan before getting on a cruise ship..we decided to stay in Yokohama rather than Tokyo and looked for a guide who was willing to show us some of the local customs and some of the food culture that we were interested in getting to know. We chose Rieko as she seemed to have some of the same interests. We chose to spend the day using local transportation such as trains and buses as well as learning how to eat Japanese style..we went to Kamakura. Could not have chosen a better tour for us. Rieko picked us up on time...she answered all of our questions prior to booking without delay, she adjusted her schedule to ours since we had just flown in after a 32 hr trip..and it was wonderful. she speaks English very well, answered our many questions about ... read more

RIEKO:

Dear Bonnie san Jim san, Thank you for the flattering remarks you made! I am very happy to have been with you in Kamakura and Yokohama, which are my hometowns. We were so lucky that the rain was over when we arrived at the big Buddha and could enjoy a comfortable walk around Kamakura. When I reached home, I checked my pedometer and I found that I made you walk a bit too much. I hope you are not so tired and enjoying a wonderful cruise tour. If you come to Japan some day, please let me know and I would love to see you again. Thank you again and have a good tour!
