Overview

You can refresh yoursel by viewing the highest grade of Bonsai masterpieces at an exhibition in Tokyo, "Kokufu-ten" and at the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum (Saitama City). You are welcomed in the traditinal Japanese way using Bonsai displayed in tatami-matted rooms at the OBA museum. You see the pinnacle of Bonsai, "Higurashi" there on Feb.10 and 12.

What to Expect

You'll enrich your knowledge about traditional Japanese culture,Bonsai. And their elegant figures and fragrance refresh yourself.
This tour is offered just four days in this year.
First come, first served!

Bonsai had been cherished by top figures in the worlds of politics, business and academy such as Shogun, prime ministers and captains of industry.
I think that people with a heavy responsibility might have been soothed and inspired by viewing Bonsai as a condensed natural landscape.
Why do't you refresh yourself like them.

At the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, let me tell you about how to view Bonsai, how to take care of Bonsai and how to display Bonsai at Japanese rooms which divided into three types by the level of formality using hanging scrolls, amazing Bonsai pots and Bonsai tables or stands.
You can appreciate about 60 pots of Bonsai masterpieces such as a 1000- year- old Bonsai, a forest like group planting Bonsai and enjoy them creating your own Bonsai world using your imagination.
(On Feb. 10 and 12, You can also see the most important Bonsai, the pinnacle of Bonsai named "Higurashi" at the OMB museum.)
In addition you can enjoy many blossoms with refreshing fragrance now.

After visiting Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, you have two choices.
1)If you'd like to see Bonsai more, I'll show you around some Bonsai nurseries in the Bonsai village.
2)If you'd like to visit Omiya Hikawa Jinjya shrine, I'll take you there and tell you a little about Japan's indigenous religion "Shinto" and how to worship at a shrine.

In addition, you can have lunch at a local restaurant, if you like.

“ Polite, caring, knowledgeable, and always ready to please. ”

We have spent five wonderful days with Michiko seeing as much of Japan as we could each day. We learned how to navigate the subway system. Michiko taught us the “ Japanese Weave “—how to move forward in the crowded underground subway corridors. That skill proved invaluable getting from point A to point B. One highlight of our various tours was a visit to the Bonsai Museum. Michiko is a member of the Bonsai Academy and an accomplished bonsai artist who explained everything about this art form. I could not believe we saw some bonsai art that has been living for over 1000 years! One example of going the extra mile—Michiko got a cold yesterday and lost her voice. So, for our tour today she wrote out everything important for us to know in English on a pad she carried with her. She also wore... read more

“ Lovely Lady ”

My Wife and I had 1 day in Tokyo with the lovely Michiko - what a lovely lady! she was very informative, helpful, willing to listen and a pleasure to be with. We would certainly recommend her as a tour guide around Tokyo - we had great interaction before we even met, she listened to what we wanted and delivered on what we asked for. Michiko's English was very good and she was easy to understand, which is important. Michiko took the time to explain things that we didn't undestand fully and kept at a pace that was comfortable, even though it was very hot when we visited. Thank you once again, Michiko! :)

MICHIKO:

Hi Ian, Thank you for writing a wonderful review for me. I really appreciate it. It will be my great motivation for future tours! In fact, I was deeply impressed with your knowledge of Japan. I was so happy to share a pleasant time with you two. I owe everything to you. I hope I can see you again! Best regards, Michiko
