There are also Western antiques in some markets. Market size varies in each area. (10 to 250 stalls)

We are retired couple from US. We chose Toshi as our day trip guide based on her video, and exvellent choice it was. After spending time on selecting attractions in Tokyo to visit during the day, everything had to change due to quite strong rain all day. Toshi showed up in thr morning with new ideas what to do and we just followed, having a lot of fun with her, getting to know Tokyo in different way than we planned originally. We visited museum, some shopping in big and small shops, some littlr restaurants and tea place, interesting streets and people watching. Also some places we could visit like Shibuya crossing and viewing point Shibuya Sky above. All the time Toshi kept us occupied talking about history and traditions of Japan, also less serious but quite teresting facts about life in ... read more
Thank you, Janusz! It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife. The Edo-Tokyo Museum exhibits a combination of Japanese arts and culture. The interior tour of a traditional Japanese house was a unique experience, wasn’t it? I felt like I was visiting my grandmother’s home. In the old days it’s common to have a small Shinto shrine at home in the living room. Glad to see you enjoyed the Tonkotsu Ramen in Harajuku. It was a perfect lunch for a cold day. We got all warmed up. We barely scratched the surface of Tokyo so please come back. Hope to see you again!
Toshi is an excellent guide. I have a fun and lovely time exploring Tokyo (Imperial Garden, Tsukiji Market, Harajuku and Shibuya Area) with her. She is nice, friendly, patient and engaging. I have learned a lot about Tokyo (the history, culture, transportation system) from her. She is helpful and always willing to go the extra mile to answer my enquiries and give good recommendations/ travels tips about Tokyo. I have enjoyed the tour. Thank you very much, Toshi (:
It was a pleasure meeting you , Madeline! I felt like I was travelling with a family member. We were lucky to have witnessed two special events as they were only available in this week. The Imperial Palace was open to the public for fall foliage. The combination of traditional castle structures and red Japanese Maple leaves was breathtaking, wasn't it? Another lucky coincidence was that we could see the ceremonial shrine for Daijosai ( The first annual harvest festival performed by the new emperor ). As a matter of fact, the virtual reality experience in Harajuku was quite fun! Glad to see that you enjoyed finding Kawaii ( cute ) stuff in Takeshita streeet. Enjoy the rest of your stay and I hope to see you again!
Toshi made the day tour of Kamakura very seamless. Her tours are just the right amount of walking including a variety of historic sites. She even went out of her way at the end of the day to take us to see the beach in Kamakura. We also enjoyed trying the sardines over rice, which is a cuisine known in Kamakura.
Arigato Anthony! So delighted to know you and your girlfriend had a ball on our Kamakura tour. ( I know , I did.) Our tour started by walking up the hill to get a view of the snow-capped Mt. Fuji at the Engakji Temple grounds while indulging in the serene atmosphere. We were also quite lucky to have been at the Tsurugaoka Shrine just in time for the Shichi-Go-San ( 7-5-3 ) and the Wedding Ceremony. The kimono-clad children were pretty well-behaved, don't you think? This is just the beginning of our adventure as there are more unique shrines and temples in Kamakura to uncover. Hope to see you soon! :)
We had a wonderful time with Toshi. She was prompt and very welcoming. She met us early and took us all around Tokyo. She knew a great deal about the places we visited and we learned a lot. Our schedule included a lot of walking but she was full of energy and good cheer. She has a great sense of humor. I would recommend Toshi to anyone who wants an energetic knowledgeable guide in Tokyo. Thank you Toshi!
Thank you, Tonia and Ed! So glad you enjoyed your layover-weekend in Tokyo. We took advantage of the day by starting our tour early. Sensoji Temple and Asakusa Shrine were so peaceful. Koi fish welcomed us! The exhibition of the Edo-Tokyo Museum was interesting, wasn’t it? Japan is an island country and we had an isolation policy for over 200 years. That’s why we are still preserving such a unique culture. Please come back soon! There's so much more I have to show you!
My time in Tokyo with Toshi was very enjoyable. Toshi knows so much about the history of Japan and every little corner of the city. I asked her to visit specific sites and she delivered them beautifully. Toshi is graceful and calm which made for a very delightful day. Thank you, Toshi! I will be back!
Thank you, Mariluz! Glad to know you had fun; I did too! You requested a shopping tour for products made in Japan such as organic cosmetics, ceramics, stationaries, and green tea. What do you think of Ginza stores? I felt like as if we were doing museum-hopping as products were so beautifully displayed. Don‘t you think so? Our next stop was a small shopping mall with unique artisan works. There are more stores you need to check out! Please come back to Tokyo in spring so that you can see the cherry blossoms. Hope to see you again.
