There is no restaurant in that area so that you should buy your lunch at one of the covenience stores on the way to Nasu. After lunch if the weather permits we go to the ninth station of Chausudake mountain by ropeway. We enjoy spectacular scenery from there. Then dropping off at the visitor center to learn about Nasu. Hi there!! I am an English speaking tour guide based in Utsunomiya city near Nikko. Since I came back from Auckland, New Zealand I started my own business as an English Speaking Guide. I have been a guide for 6 years. My favorite things to do these days are 1. visit historical places in Tochigi prefecture, 2. find nice restaurants and bars in Utsunomiya 3. wear hats while I am working outside.

“ A rainy day in Nikko with a lovely guide ”

Beautiful day in Nikko thanks to Jack, who is not only a very knowledgeable guide but also a nice and interesting person. Enjoyed the major spots but, by my own choice, skipped the top one due to long queues and unpleasant weather. nonetheless a nice memory of scrolls and great conversions. apart from the pure sightseeing: intercultural exchange at its best.

“ Next Level Nikko Experience - Courtesy of Jack! ”

If you are considering a day trip to Nikko, I can not recommend strongly enough hiring Jack to be your guide! We had such an enjoyable experience with him and are so glad we had him as our guide to experience Nikko. From start to finish, Jack made sure we saw everything we wanted to see, was patient while we took an incessant number of pictures, helped us pick the right trains to avoid having to stand en route, knew the inside tricks on the right buses and best order to view sights to avoid the masses of other tourists, and communicated excellently in English. Beyond the value at Nikko itself, the better understanding he provided us of Japanese history and culture in general has made our entire vacation in Japan better. Look no further - Jack is the best option for your guided tour of majestic Nikko!

“ Friendly, resourceful and knowledgable ”

I was looking a few specific things that I couldn't find on triplelights so I posted the plan we were looking for. A few guides contacted me with alternatives but Jack was able to arrange exactly what we were looking for. Through the planning process and the tour, Jack was friendly, professional, resourceful, knowledgable and patient with our questions. We had a fantastic time with him and hope to have another chance to visit some places with Jack.

“ Nikko Tour ”

Jack brought my parents to Nikko. Even though they were not proficient in English and were apprehensive about taking a train from Tokyo to Nikko, Jack was patient and took pains to make sure they arrive and depart safely. The tour was pleasant.

“ A great tour guide in Nikko ”

Jack made our 2 days' stay at Nikko a very pleasant experience. He was patient with my two noisy kids and flexible with our requests. The time at Edo wonderland was well spent with his guidance. We also enjoyed the waterfalls very much. He is a great local tour guide to recommend.

“ Very fruitful and pleasant walk ”

Glad that we engage Jack-san (you have to ask him how do he get his english name, haha) for the walk, he knows very well on the habitats of the park and very knowledgeable, although is a raining day (drizzling) however is a really fun walk. My personal opinion, should visit here during autumn and spring, will be very colourful. cheers!

“ Amazing tour guide ”

I cannot say enough good things about our tour with Jack to see Nikko. He met us and drove us up to Lake Chuzengi and to see 3 beautiful and different waterfalls. Then we had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and went on to see the Bakejizo, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Toshogu Shrine and Taiyuin Temple. His historical knowledge is excellent, as is his English. We had a great day and I would recommend his tour to everyone.

“ Great tour of Nikko! ”

Jack was fantastic! Our trip encountered a few weather challenges with some unexpected snow to start the tour. Jack didn't miss a step but made some quick adjustments on the fly! We still got to see everything we expected just with a few tweaks. Jack was very informative and presented the information and history in a way that engaged our kids 13 & 10 perfectly. We would recommend Jack for a Nikko tour for anyone looking to see the beautiful sights Nikko has to offer.

“ Personable and Knowledgeable Guide to Nikko and surrounding area ”

Jack is very knowledgeable about the history behind the shrines and mausoleums at Nikko. He related this history and information about Nikko and the area in a wonderfully organized and memorable way. He was also very flexible about changing the set itinerary, so we could see the beautiful Kegon Falls and the mountainous area near Nikko as well as the Taiyuin and Toshogu Shrine. He also took us to a great place for lunch--more of a local restaurant than a tourist hangout. He added immensely to our understanding and enjoyment of Nikko and the surrounding area. Jack is also very personable. It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend the day with Jack.

Jack-san was an excellent guide on our tour of Nikko. He worked with us to shape the tour to meet the requirements of our large group, and brought us to places we had not been before. We are a well-informed group, and Jack's extensive historical and cultural knowledge contributed to a pleasurable exploration of the shrines and imperial villa. We really enjoyed ourselves. We recommend Jack the tour guide wholeheartedly.
