We go to Nasu by motorway and stop at Sesshoseki (Killing stone) and then to Nasu Heisei-no-mori Forest. We walk there around a couple of hours and have lunch.
There is no restaurant in that area so that you should buy your lunch at one of the covenience stores on the way to Nasu. After lunch if the weather permits we go to the ninth station of Chausudake mountain by ropeway. We enjoy spectacular scenery from there. Then dropping off at the visitor center to learn about Nasu. We pass through Nasu Imperial villa and we will drop by some souvenir shops if you like.
Glad that we engage Jack-san (you have to ask him how do he get his english name, haha) for the walk, he knows very well on the habitats of the park and very knowledgeable, although is a raining day (drizzling) however is a really fun walk. My personal opinion, should visit here during autumn and spring, will be very colourful. cheers!
We had a spare day in Tokyo and found your site and booked for the next day. We had a great day touring Nikko. Jack will go at your pace.. we wanted a relaxed day. His insights into Japanese culture are excellent. A memorable day. Thank you ever so much Jack. Matt Helga and Steve from Sydney.
I cannot say enough good things about our tour with Jack to see Nikko. He met us and drove us up to Lake Chuzengi and to see 3 beautiful and different waterfalls. Then we had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and went on to see the Bakejizo, Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Toshogu Shrine and Taiyuin Temple. His historical knowledge is excellent, as is his English. We had a great day and I would recommend his tour to everyone.
Jack was fantastic! Our trip encountered a few weather challenges with some unexpected snow to start the tour. Jack didn't miss a step but made some quick adjustments on the fly! We still got to see everything we expected just with a few tweaks. Jack was very informative and presented the information and history in a way that engaged our kids 13 & 10 perfectly. We would recommend Jack for a Nikko tour for anyone looking to see the beautiful sights Nikko has to offer.
Jack is very knowledgeable about the history behind the shrines and mausoleums at Nikko. He related this history and information about Nikko and the area in a wonderfully organized and memorable way. He was also very flexible about changing the set itinerary, so we could see the beautiful Kegon Falls and the mountainous area near Nikko as well as the Taiyuin and Toshogu Shrine. He also took us to a great place for lunch--more of a local restaurant than a tourist hangout. He added immensely to our understanding and enjoyment of Nikko and the surrounding area. Jack is also very personable. It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend the day with Jack.
