Overview

This is a small-group taxi tour for cruise ship passengers anchored in Shimizu Port. Although several bus tours might be offered to them on the ship, some people still prefer flexibility of a small group. If you are traveling by land, a taxi can also pick you up in the Shizuoka City or Fuji City areas.

What to Expect

・It takes about 60 minutes from Shimizu Port by car to reach the main area of the tour. Since we get very close to Mt. Fuji, we can see it prominently in front of us if the weather is fine. (But please do not hold high expectations for viewing Mt. Fuji because we can not see it well when the weather is bad.)
・At Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, the guide will tell you how this beautiful World Heritage shrine has been closely related to Mt. Fuji since ancient times.
・Shiraito Falls is also one of the highlights of this area. Mt. Fuji's ground water gushes out from the rock layers, which is a wonderful sight to see.
・If you are interested in sake (Japanese rice wine) or Japanese-style green tea, it is possible for me to book either a free brewery tour, including free tasting, at a sake brewery, or a casual-style tea-drinking session at a green tea farm.
・Lake Tanuki is also optional. If the weather is fine, you might have a chance to see the famous "postcard-like view" of Mt. Fuji and its reflection on the lake.
・If it rains and Mt. Fuji is barely visible, one of my recommendations would be a visit to the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka, where you can learn Mt. Fuji's fascinating history and simulate climbing it.

Important

1. This tour have a 4-guest maximum capacity. But, if you are a group of 5 or 6 and are interested in this itinerary, please contact me anyway and I will see if it's possible.
2. This is a 5-hour tour, but we need to drive for almost an hour to reach the main area of the tour, and the roads in Fuji City are likely to be congested (especially in the evenings). That is why sometimes it may be a little difficult for a taxi driver to adjust the tour time and finish the tour exactly in 5 hours. So please allow for a little extra time due to the traffic conditions, in which case I will not charge you any extra fees. If you definitely need to keep the tour time to 5 hours, please mention that to me beforehand so I can adjust the tour accordingly.
3. As to a visit to a sake brewery or a green tea farm, please note that, since these facilities are family-run businesses or rather small-scale companies, the booking is subject to change at the last moment. read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tour exclusively for cruise ship passengers anchored in Shimizu Port?

Not necessarily so. If you are traveling by land, I can also pick you up (or drop you off) at a JR station or your hotel in Shizuoka City or Fuji City.

How much is the Expressway fare, and isn't it possible for us to use normal roads instead of the expressway?

This tour is basically for cruise ship passengers, and we need to avoid the risk of being late for the ship's departure. So I strongly recommend we use the Tomei Expressway between Shimizu IC and Fuji IC. The fare is around 1400 yen (about 13 USD as of August 2018) in total.

Are there any physically-demanding parts in this itinerary?

Most of the time, you walk on flat roads on this tour, but I am concerned about one part: If you want to get much closer to the Shiraito Waterfalls, you need to walk down a considerable number of stone steps (which means you need to climb up the same steps afterwards), and there are no elevators or paths. So please tell me beforehand if that's going to be a problem. (You can see the falls without going down the many steps, but it is from a distance of about 250 meters.)

Can I make changes after I book?

Yes! If you need to make changes such as removing or adding someone to your booking or changing the date or time of your tour, contact us by phone or email

Starting and ending points of the tour.

After you secure your booking, the starting and ending points of your tour can be customized to your convenience (ex.: your hotel, nearby stations, etc.). Don't worry, we will take care of you! Some tours may have an extra fee for this service, make sure to check the tour page.

What happens after I book a tour?

After booking a tour, the guide will accept (or decline) your booking within 24 hours. Then you will be noticed by email from Triplelights.

Is the price per person or per group?

The price is charged per group. Which means that you make a one-time payment for your entire group and the price will not change if it is less or more people.

Can I add more people to my booking?

Some guides accept extra people (more than the specified number) for an extra charge. Please check for the extras on the tour or booking page, or contact your guide directly to clarify.

Will there be other tourists in my tour?

No. Your tour is private, only for you and your family or friends, there will be no other group of tourists together in your tour.

Can the guide pickup me at the airport?

Yes, but there will be additional charge for that and it is not by car. The guide will go pick you up using public transportations. For further details, please contact your guide directly.

I'm travelling alone. Can I book this tour?

Yes, you can and you may be able to get a discount if you are traveling alone. Price depends on which guide you choose.

“ Best of the Best !! ”

Koji is a very kind and pleasant person to spend the day with. He has a very deep knowledge of the area and was able to answer all our questions. His driver, Totsu, is a very safe driver and also speaks English. Both of these gentleman represent their country very well. You could not visit a more friendly welcoming city than Shimizu. I could go on and on about how we meet so many kind souls in this city. Great port and wonderfull guide. We will never forget the day we spent with Koji and Totsu. Thank you so much !! “ top tour with top guide and top taxi driver ”

Koji picked us up at the port together with a very nice taxi driver. We booked a 5 hours tour but due to the beautiful weather conditions, Koji showed us during 6 hours so many nice and interesting places with an excellent English and lot of knowledge. We enjoyed this personalized tour very much and can only recommend Koji. Was a super be experience!

Koji:

Dear Urs, Thank you very much for writing the wonderful feedback! Your comment encourages me a lot and it gives me a stimulus to study more and become a better guide (to really live up to your evaluation). Spending a time with you two was a fun experience for me, too. And I will convey your regards to everyone we met during the tour, including the taxi driver. Please take care and enjoy the rest of your trip!

“ Shimizu Tour - Wheelchair Accessible ”

We enjoyed a great tour of Shimuzu organised for us by our tour guide Koji. Koji was extremely professional and very helpful in understanding the needs of someone in a wheelchair. My husband is a high functioning quadriplegic who uses a lightweight manual folding wheelchair. We appreciated the excellent communications prior to our tour from Koji- regarding our itinerary and our wheelchair access requirements and having informed Koji of our particular tour requirements, he organised a wheelchair accessible van with driver for our tour and planned a wheelchair accessible itinerary for us. Thankyou for a wonderful in Shimuzu. Peter & Suzy Hengstberger Australia

Koji:

Dear Suzanne, Many thanks for writing the good review! I am glad you seem to have finished your cruize ship journey safely. I also had an enjoyable time with you two. Please give my best regards to your wonderful husband Peter. And I hope that you two will stay well and continue to encourage people around you. Thank you very much.

“ Our visit to Shimizu ”

Koji was a wonderful guide. During all the months that we were planning our day in Shimizu, he was always very responsive and flexible. He did everything in his power to show us all that we wanted to see. Koji was punctual on the day of the tour and was very thoughtful. He brought us water, umbrellas and towels because it was raining. He explained everything to us very well. His English is very understandable. I would recommend Koji to any of my friends who visit Shimizu. Thank you, Koji!

Koji:

Dear Ada, Many thanks for writing the wonderful review! Those words really give me a motivation to move forward as a tour guide. I hope you have finished your Japan tour with good memories. And as I said to you in the car, please contact me anytime if there is something I can help you with. Thank you very much.
