What to Expect
Shizuoka prefecture, is one of the most attractive sightseeing destination in Japan. Being in the southern part of the country, its moderate Japanese climate allows us to enjoy the warmth and sunshine even in the winter season.
There are a lot of places to see in Shizuoka; scenic beauties and places of historical interest, with plenty of local cuisine dishes and flavors to taste. Why not stop by Shizuoka during your travels between Tokyo and Kyoto?
At the top of the Nihonadaira hills (330m above sea level) there is a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji, with lovely sight of the sea and tea fields. From Nohondaria you can take a ropeway ride and reach Mt. Kuno. There you can see the artistic Toshogu Shine (traditional Gongen style). The main Shine hall has been designated a national treasure.
Miho pine tree grove is part of the Mt.Fuji world cultural heritage. From there you can also see a magnificent view of Mt.Fuji combined with sandy seashores and pine trees.
We can also visit S-plus Dream Plaza in the Shimizu port. It has multitude of stores as well as a fish market and the Sushi restaurant alley. It is a great place to taste some fresh seafood, do some shopping and find some wonderful souvenirs
